Business › How To Deal With Inflation? by lavylilly(op): 5:15pm On Sep 04, 2022
How to deal with inflation?

If you work in finance, here is what you can do to deal with inflation:

1/Review your financial models

First you need to revise the models you have used by adding the macro economical factors:

Update the following assumptions:

-Salary increase
-Energy increase
-Material prices
-External services
-Rent
-Contractors

Once you have reassess the impact of the cost increase, you have assess the impact on your profitability and we can go to the next part: review your pricing strategy.

2/ Review your pricing strategy

Bring the results of your financial models in a discussion with the sales and marketing team.

Together, you need to define what is the new pricing strategy to deal with inflation.

Help the sales team prepare their arguments for their negotiation with the client. Back up your inflation assumptions by external sources (energy index price, raw material market price, economical inflation index of your region…).

3/ Review your product mix

Calculate the new margin per product using the new price and new costs.

Reassess the product mix to optimize the products with the the highest margin contribution.

4/ Implement a performance plan

Pricing will not be the solution to cover all the costs increase.

You need to run a performance plan with all departments to limit the cost effects:
-Trim your external services
-Use advantage of the ways of working to reduce surface
-Review all your software licenses and check for duplicates or licenses barely used
-Streamline span and layers of your organisation
-Use the Zero Based Budgeting to identify savings
-Run an energy saving plan

5/ Review your contracts

-Check existing sales contracts for existing price revision clause and discuss with your clients to activate the clause.
-For new contracts, make sure you have a clause of price revision.
-Where you are on the purchaser side, negotiate to limit the inflation effect by finding other levers (payment terms, volume, long term agreement).

Summary

-Review your financial models
-Review your pricing strategy
-Review your product mix
-Implement a performance plan
-Review your contracts

This situation is new for most of us and we are all learning how to deal with it.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: I Thought Honesty And Hardwork Pays? by lavylilly: 5:09pm On Sep 04, 2022
Sales is both a challenging and interesting career.

- When the numbers are bad, you must explain. Failure to do so is usually presumed with the impression that you are not in touch with the business.

- When the numbers are good, you must still explain. Failure to do so means, it is an organic process, ‘naturally’ happening with little or no input from the salesman.

In both scenarios, you must be able to give good insights. This is when you’ll be taken seriously as someone who truly knows his onions.

Yesterday i quit my job.
I heard stories about how former employees before me, stole from the company. Even the last person i met there stole hundreds of thousands and was sacked 3 weeks after i joined.
I was hardworking , honest, punctual, polite and hands on the best worker.

I was made employee of the month , a month after i joined and guess how much i was given as reward? #250!
Lol
After i requested permission to travel to the East for a close Aunt's burial for a week and 2 days, i was permitted yet Half of my salary for last month was still deducted and that's why i quit.
After the way i served and upheld this company and even worked overtime most times and always get home very late at night.
It is well.. i know God and life has better
plans for me. ASUU strike or not.

I am a Christian. I live my life as though it depends on prayer and also live my life as though it depends on hard work

Being a Christian doesn't mean being lazy. That's a malady.

Being a Christian doesn't mean being worthless. That's a delusion

I am a Christian and I am hardworking, but I rely more on God's grace and will

I am a Christian. I live my life by the principles of God's word.

Let your let so shine before that they might see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings, he shall not stand before mean men.

These are some of my best-loved quotes from my favourite book ~ The Bible

In a world where everyone is passionate and going crazy for different things.

I am passionate about God and won't live by standards that want me not to talk about God in my success and achievements

Others might not talk about him or even share this post but I can't help but talk about Him that has brought me thus far.

Being a Christian isn't being a fool and is not a call to mediocrity. It's a call to live life abundantly. Period!!

Dear Young Graduates,

Please pick your calls and be polite in your responses to all callers whether known or anonymous.

So many have lost precious opportunities owing to poor and crude manners of address on phone.

Be nice to return all missed calls and don't join the company of those who take pride in picking calls of ONLY those people they know personally.

Often times, helps come from those you never met.

Please be civil.

Let's remember that a company where an accountant could be fired on the spot is a one-man company, therefore all these verify stuff may not work. If the accountant had delayed the payment, leading to loss of a major customer, he would still have lost his job. In such an organization, the one-man is the ultimate decider in every transaction, therefore the only real control that works there is confirm from him in all situations, even if by telephone call.

I have worked in one such company before in which the CEO expected instant adherence to his oral instructions, though he would authorise the transaction post-implementation. If the accountant insists on a written or verifiable authorisation before implementation, he would be fired on the spot
Family › Always Try To Appreciate Your Daddy by lavylilly(op): 7:14pm On Aug 28, 2022
You asked him N5,000, and your dad told you he will give you in the morning before he leaves for work. This was after he has thoroughly scrutinized what you needed the money for, all the questions he asked were already making you angry.

Throughout the night your dad couldn't sleep because he was thinking as to why he must sacrifice his last N5,000 for you

In the morning he calls you into his room and give you N4,500-00 instead of N5,000-00

You were not happy and squeezed your face in discontent, and reluctantly said thank you after complaining that it was not all you requested

Your mum after seeing this does not utter a word but meets you in your room where your dad is not present and give you N500 from her own money and say "don't mind him, add this to meet your needs .

You began to smile and quickly run to Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to write.

"I have the best mum in the world, I love my mum".

Now your dad had gone out with just N250 in his pocket with no fuel in his car. Because of you, he uses public transport that day to work. He gives your mum N250 to enable her handle any emergency while he is away.

At work, he worked overtime. After closing late, everyone keeps saying "daddy is never always around except mum".

Your good dad will never allow you to see how much he suffers for the family because he is a MAN.

Always try to appreciate your dad your husband and brothers. It's not easy at all.

A CV is just the first step in the recruitment process—but if it's not well-written, logical and professional, you're unlikely to get any further. If you do it right, there's a good chance your potential employer will offer you an interview based on what they've learned about you from your CV.
Let's write you an interview winning CV.
