Politics / Re: Unceasing Lawlessness Like Removal Of Sanusi Drives Away Investors – Peter Obi by LegendHer0: 5:16pm On Mar 11, 2020
mrvitalis:

Really u would invest your money in a country a governor can make a law turning your business to state own right ?

Was sanusi invited to defend himself ?

Truly lawlessness and insecurity turn away investors from an economy but I don’t see the effect of Sanusi’s removal on Nigeria’s economy like Peter Obi opined.

The effect will be too infinitesimal to even bother to discuss the subject. Sanusi is just a king and not a member of the government in this context.

This is a traditional issue and investors are bothered about security, ease of doing business, rule of law, etc. and not royalty games.

I had 4 screenshots I wanted to post but I couldn't cos the file size was too large.

Okay, let's do it this way. I want you to list the modern suburbs of Ibadan for me, I will go through them and see how large of an area they occupy.

If we say we should go by these screenshots, I'm sure I can post 40 different screenshots of Ibadan brown roof areas and you will not see the name of any single edifice in 2 different screenshots, but I doubt you can do this for the modern areas.

See, you Yorubas should just tell yourselves the truth... The same pattern of brown & rusty houses is the same pattern in Ogbomosho, Oshogbo, Abeokuta, Oyo, Iwo, Ikirun, Ilesha, Iseyin and the overwhelming majority of your towns/cities. ...... There is no reason why Ibadan should be any different.

You people do not renovate your houses, why is this so? Houses that were built since the colonial cocoa era are still the same way 70 years ago, no single renovation? Why?

i am not sure I have much time to be measuring them now. Also pasting those images here will derail this thread and will affect its essence. For example these are some other parts.

You guys are just being very economical with the truth of Ibadan. .... Nobody is denying the fact that Ibadan has good, modern and nice places.

The point is that the dusty, rusty and congested areas are the overwhelming majority.

After all the noise you guys are making here I just typed Ibadan is Google maps and viewed it very well and the modern areas without brown roofs were just like 25%... The areas I immediately zoomed into and moved around were all brown and here are the screenshots I took of entirely different neighbourhoods. Shuo!

Lol. For every one you provide there are countless better area. I can't even start mentioning them.

Sometimes you have to drill down into them. Ibadan is not only those axis you are talking about. Some of you will just pass through some axis and start saying you know Ibadan lol.

Just try using the street view feature of some of these places.

The bolded is very true. I was born in IB and attended sec in Ibadan and yet I barely know little about Ibadan. Although left in 2008 and since them it's been come and go for short days.

There are lot of places that I don't even know in Ibadan such that I always feel dumb if my siblings or friends are mentioning places. Same can be said of a lot of Ibadan guys.

Kano for example has only one shoprite mall while Ibadan has two not to count other malls that can compete favourably with shop rite that exist in Ibadan.

Lol Ibadan also have lot of other malls like Heritage Mall, Ventura Mall. Jerico Mall, Cocoa Mall, Palms Mall.

Kano does not have exclusive domination of the north. Kaduna can give Kano a run for it's money in almost every aspect.

Ibadan is doing better than Kano in Human development index definitely because Hausa fulani people are largely illiterate. Nothing else.

This is very very false.
The modern parts of Ibadan can never be bigger than the modern parts of Kano.

Use Google maps right now to view Ibadan and Kano closely, then come back and repeat this statement.

80% of the houses and suburbs in Ibadan look very very brown and dusty from above! And very congested too!
The bolded is a lie bro. You don't know Ibadan.

Most of you always use the Molete- Bode - Bere stretch to categorize Ibadan coz that is where all those dusty roofs are concentrated.

I just always laugh online because you don't even know the actual urbanized Ibadan. We have Aerodome GRA, Samonda, Alalubosa GRA, Jericho GRA, New and old Bodija GRA, Agodi GRA, Ikolaba GRA, Bashorun Estate, Kolapo Ishola GRA, Carlton Gate, Alao-Akala Estate.

See moving down to even Oluyole Estate side down to those Ajila and the new site of Elebu etc alone no be child play. Mind you, I don't even know much of Ibadan coz I left properly since 2008.

Check this thread about Ibadan by someone:

Ibadan has lot of housing estates, while even the Challenge - Orita - Oluyole Estate - Academy - Ajila Estate - etc alone has lot of housing and better placed industries. Industries along that New Garage -Podo Area - Down to Odo-Ona Kekere alone self plenty.

Not even talking of all those Bodija, Dugbe, Agodi GRA etc.

Bro, believe me, Ibadan is better than Kano, I have been to both city and I can tell. The modern part of Kano is much smaller than that of Ibadan.

Apart from the oil-producing states and Lagos, Kano earn the highest revenue from the federation account due to her perceived population and the number of local government, so it should more be developed as it is also easier to develop infrastructure like road in the north-west than south-west due to rainfall and soil condition.

Yes, that is exactly what I am trying to point out about Kano. If you compare most socio-economic metrics of Ibadan and Kano, Ibadan will beat Kano hands down.

Thank you very much for this enlightenment..
If these places you mentioned are added, then Ibadan could be up to 600km²... Still not enough to displace Abuja.

No hatred intended, but personally I feel Ibadan an urban area so large in size is not living up to it's potentials... Imagine Ibadan being bigger than Kano, but it cannot compare Kano in terms of finance, businesses, industries, infrastructure and cosmopolitanism.
Ibadan, as well as many other Yoruba cities are experiencing a very serious brain drain if you ask me.
Lagos is taking away all Yoruba elites, intellectuals and entrepreneurs and this is not really good.

You shouldn't compare Ibadan to Kano especially after the current system of government which took real power away from the regions.

Kano is like the Lagos of the North. Infrastructure, business, etc. will be more concentrated in Kano going by normal rule of thumb because Kano is the major meeting point of the North.

Ibadan is still doing far better than Kano when you compare certain socio-economic metrics with that of Kano.

That’s so crazy. Sharing money to remove their Emir and desecrate the tradition.

The North is just making things worse for themselves and the people seems not concerned because they have been blindfolded by the tool of religion.

I know it’s a consensus from the elders of the North coz at least a heavyweight should have spoken against what they did to Sanusi.

I asked for a true source and not a conjured blog statement. Which leading media channel aired the news that Sanusi partook in the beheading? The news about Sanusi being part of the beheading crew originated from FFK pre-2015 election when they were finding something to nail the Emir.

I have read stories about Gideon Akaluka, but I haven't seen a front prints that opined Sanusi partook in the beheading.
Try to find a reputable source and let’s see the validity of your assertions.

Do you see that the date below pre-dates your source? The link above source is May 2017, while FFK already said it in 2015 before Biafra page aired the news!

Yeah they understood what lies ahead if he continues with his utterances. He is too liberal for them and they need to delete him as soon as possible.

Make no mistake, the elders of the North already turned their backs against him. I hope he just fly out of the country on a holiday for a while and rest.

Sanusi is more of an activist than a conservative Islamic traditional ruler. He should have cooled down a little with his utterances when he became the emir but no, baba just they yearn anyhow.

His misadventure into supporting the PDP candidate last year finished him. Buhari is the only person that could have saved him but the fact that he worked against APC made the president to look away. Sanusi is a brilliant guy, I have no doubt that he will shine again.

Exactly. You captured the situation perfectly.

I hope he rises again. I’m not sure he will want to remain in Nigeria coz it’s not that easy to be dethroned and still take up public office like people are opining.

I don’t deal in emotional tantrums. Even Buhari got >30-35% vote in the last election in the SS let alone someone like a credible Osinbajo.

Again Osinbajo will have at least 30-35% vote in the SS in 2023 if he contest with a Northerner in PDP. That is a fact!

I don’t dialogue with political neophytes so you can as well bring forth better argument and stop talking like a novice.

Good comment.

I was traveling from Bauchi to Yola recently and in our bus we had a Yoruba muslim who dressed with kaftan and that white muslim cap and was trying his best to look very Islamic (perhaps to impress the northern muslims- I'm not sure)...
For the 8 hours journey that we travelled together, the Yoruba Muslim guy could only gist and socialize with we the Northern christians (who could speak English and pidgin very well) grin.
He felt like a complete outcast among the Hausa fulani muslims who dominated the vehicle just because he couldn't speak Hausa. .... They were even talking to him angrily at one time....
Everyone in the vehicle spoke Hausa and when the Yoruba guy speaks English, only we the Christians responded to him, the Hausa fulani muslims did not grin

I just shook my head at him. .... Some very foolish Yoruba/Igala/Edo muslims think that they have Muslim Hausa brothers in the north whom they can feel free with grin, but they eventually get the shock of their lives when they are among Hausa fulanis...

Nice narrative.

That's crazy tho. It's absurd if they could treat a fellow Muslim like their that way tho.

However, @the bolded, Kaftan and cap does not originate from Hausa/Fulani, so I don't think the guy is trying to impress them. He is just being Muslim.

There shall be no peace for the wicked and deceitful.

Lol. The SS right.

You don’t know anything bro. You are just one of the SS. They already moved on you know.

Check the 2019 votes and you will see that the SS is not that toxic to APC. I don’t believe in emotional tantrums and I only deal with real politics.

An Osinbajo and El-Rufai on the ticket for APC will get nothing less that 30-35% of the votes from the SS. Even Buhari with all his waning popularity got that figures in the SS in 2019, so I can’t buy shake my head at your ignorance of politics.

The only exception to the above percentage is if an Igbo man is on the ballot in 2023 which is not possible going by the current political trend.

Again, the SW is not sorry for voting against Jonathan in 2015 because he was a failure. We voted him in our majority in 2011 even with the fact that we are majorly ACN. Tinubu supported him then, what did he paid the Yorubas back with? Abuse and marginalization.

Sit back, relax and God keep us all till 2023 and beyond, you will all keep a portrait of a SW president in your offices and establishment.

Stop deceiving yourself, the smell of ewedu on your skin can be perceived a 100 miles away. You yoruba think you are smart but seriously dumb.

There is a reason why Igbo-born politicians are getting elected in advanced countries like Poland, Italy, USA, Canada, etc. It is not magic, it is because of the principle of 'Biri kam biri'- (live and let's live), a republican principle that they known for, while you believe in winner takes all 'feudo-monarchical' system of yoruba politics.

2015 was the time for Southern Nigeria to unite and tell the North to go to hell, the SE and SS were already cemented in unity but SW felt they could depend on their pseudo-sophistication and outfox everyone else.

Unfortunately SW outplayed themselves and are now political orphans. In 2015, you won elections for the first time in your life as Nigerians and declared yourselves 'westerners' and no more southerners. The old threads are here if you dig properly you'll find them. Now you remember you are southerners? grin

Running across the Niger river to look for 'southern unity' in your greedy quest for 2023 presidency won't help you. You cannot always approbate and reprobate whenever you like for your own selfish reason.

There is only one way to cement southern unity- drop your toga of pride, campaign and clamour strongly for a presidency of South Eastern extraction since it is the turn of the south to produce one and the East have not tasted it since 1999. That is justice and equity. That's the only way to earn the trust of the SESS zone. If you can't do that, carry your pride on your head like amala and wait for the political battering you'll get in 2023.

The rest of the south fought for yoruba in 1999. It's your turn to fight for others but you think you are smart but others are donkeys? Na overcunny dey kill tortoise.

Cunnyman wey him cunnyness wan bury am. grin

How many time are we going to tell you people that your vote is inconsequential?

SW don’t need you for anything. Your region have been systematically handicapped after the civil war never to be able to decide who rules the country. The earlier you know the better for you.

The victory you receive in your coalitions with the North during the earlier days was because the SS always vote in agreement with you during those years. However times are changing, check the 2019 election result and you will know the SS already moved on. Systematically you are gradually turning to an island.

The SS are still more important than you guys in politics in Nigeria. You better get that into your brain.

No coalition of the North and SE can beat Osinbajo and El-Rufai ticket in 2023.

I repeat no coalition. Even if you like, create a sultanate position for the North in Igbo land, it won’t stop Yoruba glory.

You’re all ants, you have no weight!!
