Nairaland General › Re: What's Your Greatest Fear? by Limassol(m): 8:53pm On Aug 10, 2021
humilitypays:
The greatest fear of all men and women are:

Growing old
Sickness/Death
Poverty (every Nigerian fear this including Presidents, Governors, Senators, etc that's why they steal and loot public money with reckless abandon )

Not getting married (99% of women fear this)
Since when do you speak for all men and women? Isn't it better to just state your own opinion? Anyway, just so you know i neither fear old age nor death, both are inevitable.

So in your forsaken mind, you are the real James bond.. Lol... When things go south, am sure we would find your scared self creating another topic here crying out for help, I detest guys who don't have balls to keep their mouth shut because you were just giving mere privilege and obviously not because you are smart..
beats my imagination how some ladies will only take you serioriously by treating them like trash. I don't get it, is it mental issue i don't know of?

WoundedLamb:
The more she loves you? Sure about that? While there's a possibility she loves you (and I wouldn't really call that stupid except you're saying you're not worthy of such love), I think the lady is probably using you to satisfy her desires/fantasies and here you are thinking you're the smart one. This whole "we're smarter than women" does not let some of you know when you're being used. It's possible she doesn't love you, so how you treat her doesn't really matter. She probably doesn't care about your love or money and just wants your body. The best way to get anything from a man is by making him believe he's in charge/control of the situation.
At the expense of her dignity and respect? I mean even while treated like trash?

Are you sure it's 7k a month? That's slavery
Lagos ain't easy especially if you don't have something tangible doing.
How do I get across to you,I'll teach you something you can be doing in your spare time. It'll pay you 15k or above monthly.
i am intrested in this bro.

Let me just believe you wanted to type #70,000 and mistakenly missed to include one zero.

Because I don't understand how a teacher who is a graduate could be paid less than $15 per month.
This is horrible, but let me believe it's a typo error
it ain't a typo, the op has clarified that it's 7k. Horrible, but thats the reality in Nigeria.

Which one be 7k? I stay in Yola, Where in Adamawa do you teach? It's too small, even if u choose Lagos what about ur house rent, abi u go dey sleep for under bridge?
Are you doubting the authenticity of his narrative? Even in Kaduna state, traditionally the most industrialised state in the North, some schools still pay graduate teachers 12k as salary, this i can tell you with a high degree of certainty.

Nigerians in Canada are different from Nigerians in Turkey, south Africa and ghana
Canada and Australia; these countries operate a points-based immigration system thus eligible only for the highly-skilled and educated, a stark contrast to countries like UAE and Malaysia which attracts the opposite.

Christianity Etc › Re: How Do I Explain To My Parents That I Don't Want To Belong To Any Religion by Limassol(m): 1:01pm On Aug 09, 2021
Timoleon:
You don’t explain to them. You live at peace with your parents. If giving them a few hours of your Sunday secures that peace, give it to them. Religion/spirituality is a personal journey. If you like go to church and study online or work online, they won’t think much of it. For the most part, people are more concerned with appearances than reality. So if going to church especially if you still stay under their roof allows you and them peace of mind, do it. If you aren’t under their roof, always tell them church was fine whenever they ask ‘how was church?’ Wether you go or not.
Seek peace at all times.
you are wise bro! Op, this is the best and most reasonable response so far. Do all it takes to be in good terms with your parent FOR THE SAKE OF PEACE.

statements like this irk me. How many people in Nigeria are as comfortable as you are? The reality of about 90% of the pple who aren't as privileged as you, is so easily rubbished by you cos you have a posh life. Abeg. Newsflash! Every country on the surface of this earth is not so bad when you have money. Imagine the statement from this dude propped up in his luxury apartment, luxury car and well paid job 'Nigeria not so bad as you all paint it'. Nonsense
thanks for this reply, it's epic and onpoint.

People, especially nowadays likes to convince themselves that relationships are all about money and sex, this mentality has in turn almost completely ruined the whole experience.

I love to think relationships are for times like this, having someone you can really call a friend, someone who wouldn't mind your disturbances, and who's willing to spend long hours talking with you, both physically, text chat, audio and video calls. Someone who's going to help make your free time eventful and satisfying. I truly hate what wokeness and society is trying to make this sort of bond and friendship become.
Exactly my thoughts. Its not all about demanding sex,a healthy relationship offers way more than that.

Your story is just a summary of what am going through now. Most times i just have travel home weekends...
Not really comfortable with having a roommate but sometimes i get bored. Thanks to dstv, Netflix and my phone(my normal routines daily after work).

It's a phase though and am not really trying to force anyone into my life... i believe the right companion would come when it's time....

Enjoy it while it last
well said, how about video games?

Loneliness is a terrible thing, but you can be in a relationship and still feel lonely due to lack of chemistry and compatively. Dating someone you sync easily with is one of the best things in this world.

The full loaf.

I got myself in trouble when I went to live with my aunt briefly after secondary school. First morning breakfast they said we were having bread and tea. I wanted to be modest so I managed half the loaf. Imagine my shock when I was scolded and told that the bread was meant for the entire household (5 persons)! Bread when only me go finish on a normal day o!!!

I later adjust sha. Before I left there I couldn't take more than 4 slices.
thanks for sharing. I think the economic hardship ravaging the country made them act that way.
