Macolapablo:The banker is telling you the truth and that is how it works to obtain a faster resolution. It is only you that knows that, it was erroneous at this moment, the bank does not know. They don’t even know if you are there to illegally reverse a transaction after goods and/or services have exchanged hands. Therefore, they need the cooperation of the other individual, he must also agree that the money was not earned and must agree to the reversal for you to quickly get your money, otherwise it becomes a contested case that may require you guys going to court. The bank should not have blocked the guy’s account, if he goes there and threaten them, they will lift the hold. Banks need a court order before they can block any one’s account, you can’t just show up at a bank and have them block another person’s account, the guy can take them to task. Just pray that, the guy agrees that is is indeed a mistake, otherwise you will be spending additional money for police case and court case….and it will take a while before you get your money back. |
If a referee feel this way, imagine what the players go through, even the very skilled ones. Yet, we seat behind the comforts of our keyboard and air conditioning/fan cubicle and insult them for missing a goal. |
yemi1504:My fear for the guy is, the wife may have been getting advise from the wrong set of ladies abroad, since she is new there to record their arguments as potential evidence. And what the husband may not realize is that, he can lose everything he have labored for, if he get felony Assault conviction. He may think that, assault only means ‘putting your hands on your wife’…abroad you can be convicted if you emotionally abuse your spouse, if you curse out, say anything that belittles her, shamed her, etc are all emotionally abuse and if anything like that occurred during one of those arguments and she record them, the husband should be afraid. He should also trade carefully, don’t argue with her unnecessarily, and begin to record you guys conversations as well, because when the chips are down, she will not present recordings that favors you. I hate it when someone in the marriage start playing the victim card and if the other person is nerve you will be taken….many men abroad have lost it all, because their ‘macho’ personal ca not play the victim and they are too nerve to protect themselves….They think they are still in Nigeria, where tradition and the perception of the law favors the husband majority of the time, in the western culture, bros you are the hunted, they will kick you out of the house and still force you to pay the rent/mortgage and other bills. |
GOTVee:I guess you are one of those Christians that don’t even believe in Jesus Christ. Jesus himself say, the ruler of this world is the devil and that, there will wars, destructions, killings, etc until the last days. Don’t confuse earth with heaven, there will never be a peaceful earth, read your Bible very well. I was even expecting Christians to be rejoicing at the fulfillment of these prophecies, because Jesus said…this is how you will know that, the end times have come and without them the Son of man will not be reveal. |
seunny4lif:He detonated a suicide bomb that also took out people around him, including family members and civilians. |
God1000:Not all Nigerians abroad are into illegitimate jobs, in fact just like the majority of Nigerians living in Nigeria earn honest wages & businesses same is applicable to majority of Nigerians abroad. Even in Nigeria, not all Nigerians are 1st citizens; majority of Nigerians living in Nigeria are living as 3rd class citizens in their own country…Yes, there is no place like home, but it is better to be a 3rd class citizens with more rights abroad, than to be a 3rd class citizen in your own home with few to no rights. What you also forget is that, that menial job abroad is more than some manager jobs in Nigeria…that abroad menial job abroad feeds countless people and families in Nigeria, build projects that employ people. There are many office workers in Nigeria today paying rents to those abroad menial laborers. The other thing about menial jobs either in Nigeria or abroad is not because the job is degrading or shameful….the pay is not there in Nigeria; Governments in Nigeria are not paying the common N18k minimum wage per month, that same menial and minimum wage abroad is about $15/hour…and if you work 8hrs a day, that is about N66k per day….. If menial jobs can guarantee even a mere N100k/monthly in Nigeria, people will rush them with zero shame. Live appear to be valueless in Nigeria, there is nothing to write home about regarding the security situation. So those perceived negatives you have highlighted regarding Nigerians living abroad also affects Nigerians living in Nigeria and more; so on a balancing scale, they equal each other or biased against the Nigerian living in Nigeria…..and those to the positives & benefits of living abroad and you will answer your question. Even Governors, Presidents, politicians, rich men & women in Nigeria go in their thousands each year abroad to draw from those positivities & benefits. |
Bros, I am sorry But, she does not love you. The marriage is not up to a year and she does not trust and have to record your conversations and lie about it? What else is she lying about? Please, don’t bring a baby into this marriage, get out while you are not yet neck deep. You are lucky that, you saw the signs early; hopefully you don’t ignore them and later regret it. |
kiltoko1:God have already gave you the Resources, use them; He is not going to come from heaven and ‘see you through’. Faith without work is nothing says the Holy book; in 9ja we big believers like 100% on faith! faith!! faith!!! and a big fat zero on work, hence nothing have happened and nothing will happen. |
I think you guys are going about this the wrong way! Your sister is currently pregnant for a Christian jobless guy, whose mother you think is fetish. There absolutely nothing any of you can do about this, so let this go and stop worrying about it. Also, none of you have a control over the future, the boy maybe jobless today, but you don’t know what is store for him tomorrow….He is a Christian today and his mom is fetish but, you don’t know tomorrow…Your sister, yourself and your parents are professing a religion other than Christianity today, but you don’t know what will happen tomorrow, your sister have dropped out school today, but that does not rule her out from becoming a successful individual tomorrow. Now, having ruled out what we cannot control and what tomorrow will become or not become….let’s focus on what is before us and what we can control. First, I must commend your sister for not taking your advise of aborting the baby. That baby is a living innocent soul, that baby does not care if the father is a Christian or if the mother is a moslem. The baby does not care if the mother is dropout or if the father is jobless. Concentrate on taking care of your sister and her pregnancy, bury everything else. Yes, it may be tough financially but, if you look at it worry about the belief system of the parent will not add a dime to either of your pocket books. One will understand why your father is annoyed, and don’t want to have anything to do with your sister. Our parents want us as a legacy to themselves aka an extension of themselves or ambitious….the truth is, we are uniquely created by God and only answerable to God and we are not the legacy to anyone. Your father is doing what is expected and natural, he is reacting to the reality that, his legacy of your sister may not come true. He is also growing, learning and adjusting to the new realities on ground. He will not stay angry forever, he will come around eventually. Don’t loose sleep over the fetish mother of the boy; remember that she is the grandmother of your little niece or nephew….this little life have brought you all together and you will agree that she will love her little grandchild just as much as you and your sister. It is amazing at the same time when people who don’t see eye to eye and suspicious of each other would have a common love, adoration and care toward the same thing e.g. a baby….This is teaching and a growing moment for all of you, seat back, relax and take it all in, one day at a time. After all, we only have today, no one have promised us tomorrow, so let’s not worry about tomorrow. As to your Sister marrying this guy, you can only advise her, but don’t force it on her. I also believe she will be too juvenile in thoughts to be thinking of getting married now….time is a great equalizer, when you get to that bridge, then you cross it, but worrying about it now is premature. Finally, I have come to realize that religion itself is a legacy. It is our parent’s legacy and everyone beliefs that, their is the best and only true way. I use to think the same, that my mother’s meals is the best and she is the greatest cook ever, until I grew up and rated the road side mama put and realize that Mama Ngozi can cook as good as my mother. My point is, if your parents were Christians you would have embraced that religion as the best, if they were Buddhist instead, your perception would have been the same, if they were practicing Hinduism, you would have concluded that Hinduism is the best and only way to God. The truth is, which of these regions is the right way? I don’t know, and the funny thing is, it is only in religion you are forced not to ask serious foundational questions…religion is centered on believe, you must suspend your curiosity, inquisitiveness and just believe it….whereas in other aspects of your life, for you to have a chance at survival you must be curious, ask questions, engage all your five senses and more…..which begs the questions….why do I have to be curious and ask questions just to live and survive a mere maybe 100 years, but the life to come, which all these religions are telling us is going to be for eternity, I must only believe, I can’t be curious, etc? Therefore, it is wrong to form a preconceived opinion about another person solely based on religion or legacy passed down by parentage and this new life growing in your little sister’s belly will challenge all of you to re access what you think you know or have grown up with. |
OP correct your title, it is alarming and it is a clickbait. In the video, the lady was just sitting down on the guard rails, she did not jump into the river as your title alleges. Attempted to jump into the river is different from your usage of ‘jumping into the river’. |
Cousin9999:Again, no one is encouraging her to flee even if there is war.....I was just trying to project a moderated level playing narratives. FYI: Nothing guarantees her a legal status in the US, not even her Nursing degree. H1b would be a best option for her after her Nursing degree in Nigeria; but she must graduate first, be a registered Nurse for at least two years in Nigeria, then get a US employer to sponsor her.....then she will enter the queue for one of those limited, highly sort-after and hard to get 65,000 H1b visa slots available worldwide to High Tech migrates to the US every year. Alternatively, if she enters the US as a visitor even as a Nursing degree holder, she can not work with her degree |
Cousin9999:Bros, If you truly want to be an illegal immigrant, America is the best country to be; you even have more rights and opportunities than some middle class Nigeria citizens living in Nigeria. All you have to do, don’t do crime, live in the East Coast…you will see jobs, even some States e.g. New York State and many others now give out Driver licenses to illegal immigrants. Police don’t stop you and check your papers, many people have been living as illegal immigrants for decades in the US and have big projects back home, sponsored loved ones to Universities, etc. Plus, you are not completely shut out of regularizing your documents, there are many ways to do that, through employement, education, marriage, government amnesty, etc. What some people also don’t know is, you can continue renewing your visa within the US by filing online or mailing USCIS your renewal documents and the necessary filing fees while still leaving in the US and not becoming an illegal immigrant….so you are not restricted to the six months or one year stamped on your passport by the POE immigration officers. I have seen people who have received that dreaded ‘30 days to vacate US’ letter from USCIS and their Green Card petitions reject, only to turn around find a good lawyer and getting their Green Card approved. Yes, I am not saying America is Disneyland, nothing is free, no one is going to give it to you on a platter of gold….but if you come to America with that same 9ja determination, perseverance and not taking a no for an answer, your chances of making it and regularizing your stay are very high….it is all about hanging with the right set of people and getting the right information….In every sense of it, America is the land of opportunities including the opportunity of an illegal immigrant today becoming a legal immigrant tomorrow with the same set of facts and circumstances. So, don’t discard the opportunity from a distance and default automatically to the worse case that could happen…..the truth is, in America more often than none, the worse case don’t happen, Europe is a different case though. |
GeneralOjukwu:How did you come by these detail information or are speaking from experience? …….asking for a friend. |
Cousin9999:And, where did it say that, she is been trafficked or you guys just came up with that or you are assuming the worst case scenario as the default thing that will happen here? There are valid nanny visa in the USA, though very hard to get; so it is not entirely impossible that the Uncle is saying the truth because childcare in the US is very expensive if it not government subsidized....Yes, I agreed that anyone can be potentially trafficked, but US is not high risk destination for African traffickers and the risks of getting caught and severely punished are very very high. Traffickers also know that, the US is not like Europe when potential traffickers are afraid of reporting to the Police for fear of getting deported, in the US an illegal's immigrant can walk into a Police station or dial 911 the slightest chance they get and drop the phone without saying a single word and the authorities will come knocking. Nothing here say, she should not be cautious; but we should not default to the worst case scenario here. |
hosey:I take it that, you have never stepped into the US, so point arguing that. Also, I am not denying the fact that some ladies get 'locked up and trapped' in the US and used for the acts you have described...but it is harden criminal gangs with links and connections that do that in the US. The uncle can threaten her and will pray to be right all the times, he only require one slip and there is something she can do to checkmate her uncle and put him on his toes. It will only take a phone call from a neighbor, a friend, a coworker or a scripted message from her to outsiders for the authorities to come knocking. And unless the Uncle is a sadist, die-harden criminal belt on self-destruction, no person of African descent knowing what they have passed through to maintain their US credentials and having the ability to invite a relative from Nigeria to join them abroad will want to risk all on that and their immediate family in the US by doing what you have just described.....the risk-reward (if at all there is any reward, though I see none) is not even close! |
Simran94:If the offer from the uncle in US is genuine, I doubt if he will be 'trapped'. This is the US, and it is in the best interest of the uncle to act legally and pay fair wages to his/her laborers. Yes, she can face deportation if ratted out, but the Uncle will face more severe consequences including also deportation if they are not yet citizens and/or imprisonment, fines, payment of back wages, etc. And if she is abused, she stands a chance of getting a U or a T visa in the US as long as she report the abuse to the authorities and cooperate with law enforcement as they investigate and prosecute the abuser. |
Blissbath:hmm.... An uncle in the US, he can't even sponsor you for any US visa except for an invitation letter that anyone else can get. The US visa system does not have any preference category for extended family members, I doubt if your uncle is telling you the whole truth. But, again...both activities are mutually exclusive, you can still go ahead and pursue your Nursing degree.....because, even if your uncle put in for your visa together, it will be a very very long time before you even go for an interview...unless he is 'packaging' a visitor's visa for your and want to pay all those in-side agents the huge fees that not only will get you in front of the line, but will ensure that pre-visa interview examiners okay your documents and pass them off to the officer who will be interviewing you as 'all clear'. The open secret on the street is, this level of sort can cost up to N1.5m to N2m. |
Blixon:Bros, everything including the content of the list is negotiable these days, unless you want to act as a ‘big boy’ to your Inlaw’s. Na all of us dey this country dey suffer am together, they included, so they know how far….so sit them down, especially the father of the bride and talk to him man-to-man. Every father wants their daughter to enjoy their marriage and have plenty, so they are very very soft when it come to these list of a thing, they will understand where you are coming from…it is the extended family members who have nothing to lose if the marriage go sore or if you guys are drinking garri that will carry the list mata for head like some die hard APC & PDP supporters here….but the bride father if willing can talk sense into them and also give you sound advice on how to proceed. Some of these extended family members are like vultures who have not eaten a very good meal for many weeks and sighting the prospect of a potential meal are angling not only make up for lost meals not eaten, but eyeing the possibility of taking enough for storage against potential hungry weeks ahead.....You should also understand their weakness and play on it, they are willing to have a very very tinny bite if made to face the reality of not having anything at all. |
HardMirror:In the video, if you watched to the end…she clearly stated that, the debit alerts are POS transactions and also stated that, one among the bank security offered to help her, before her card got ‘stuck’ in the ATM. So, it is either her card get swapped or actually got sticker, she was told to come back on Monday, then retrieved by someone inside followed by the POS debit alerts within 30 minutes. |
Do Mumu G. O. dey watch Big Brother 9ja too? Apostle will hear this…. |
Nbotee:Even, if assuming it is the security man or someone else that later retrieved the ATM card, how did they get her PIN? Agreed, they will be able to use it to make purchases without the PIN, but not withdrawals unless they have the PIN. My point is, is it possible that an insider in the bank; who can easily look up the retrieved card in the system and access/change her PIN is involved? |
WBworldwide:Space & time will forget her for you. Re-channel all that energy and time into your full stack hussel. If by ‘full stack’ you mean software development that includes frontend, middleware & backend; please bros their are many better things to take your mind off her. Read about NFTs and how to code and create your own NTFs and how to host them on the Ethereum blockchain Network…Your life is ahead of you and not behind you, she is behind you. She have made her choice, even if she comes back don’t take her in, she have shown you her true color, go to church and give thanksgivings giving. Another lady with beautiful characters deserving of you is ahead of you, look up to that! |
Bigchristo:DNA test will also show that, she is not the mother therefore excluding her cheating. Since they know the hospital where she gave birth and the husband may have witnessed the birth himself, they know where to go next for answers. |
YinkaOlusesi:Not true, DNA will still confirm that, she is not the mother. That is when they will start their investigations and trace back to the hospital. Many teenagers have been reunited with their real parents that way. |
bleskid:Who come tell you say, the word blue is alway associated with color? To help you think….what color is the following? Blueprint, Bluecross, Blue moon, Bluetooth, Bluestone, Blueberry, Bluebell, Blue film, Blues, etc.? |
This is true human experiment, on how the human physic works……….. If you can’t do anything to improve your work in order to succeed, the human nature will expand their efforts and energies in pulling other people work down, if it make their’s noticeable. |
What a wonderful gesture. |
smallsmall:Bros, sometimes wey you dey talk remember say an 9ja we dey. We all know that the majority of these bank frauds are a result of the carnival of bank staff....there is a video got on WhatsApp last week, where a fraudster called some he duped and boasted how he has access to his bank info and that, he has a connection with Bank managers and they all have their own cut and that nothing will happen to him. The problem in Nigeria's context is, how will you be able to prove that it was the bank staff that connived with outsiders? Even if the bank as a result of their investigation knows this, they will not tell you, because that is a PR disaster, they will rather fire that staff silently and the money is not huge pay you. If you report to police, you will start spending money for police report, court order, etc. |
BABYharder:How you take know say na physics and no English? They didn’t ask, which of the following is Blue COLOR na your brain just dey add that information because of the colors there. The right answer is B. That is the only Blue there! |
smallsmall:Agreed, but I was talking about Nigerian specifically and the insured amounts I quoted above is for Nigeria. Insured amount in the USA and other foreign banks defers, in the USA I truly don’t care if my credit card is stolen or fraudulently used, all I need do is call it in and I will be made whole almost immediately while the investigation goes on. Though the story is different with debit cards even in the USA, the insurance is not as iron clad as that with credit cards and it could take a little longer to get your money back. Yes CBN should up their games and emulate other countries, but remember that the insurance companies & Banks are in business to turn a profit, so if CBN increased their liabilities, they will have to turn to me and you to recoup the additional cost in insuring a high risk now. |
worldeditor:I doubt if the bank has a duty to refund money fraudulently stolen, yes they have a duty to investigate and engage the other bank/merchant to retrieve the stolen money after you complained. Your bank deposit is not insured against the bank unless you take out private insurance for that purpose...yes it is supposed to be insured against the bank going belly-up or being liquidated but if you listen to the stories of some of the people whose Bank was liquidated by CBN in Nigeria, some did not get anything bank despite their deposits being insured against such occurrence. Also in very few cases where the insurance kicked in, note that the coverage is limited, they do not insure your total account balance, the maximum insurance is N500k in regular banks and N200k in micro financed banks. |
faoogoke:The default setting is N1 million, but one can request and the withdrawal limit can be removed or increased by the bank. His story seems like it happened with the help of an insider, who knows his account details....that insider can also remove the withdrawal limit, it is just a software switch. |

Even though I'm a born again Christian, I will never support the killings of any one. Why can't we show each other love and live in peace? Why are we Christians seeing Muslims as our enemies? Instead of the US to call these people to the negotiating table and settle for peace, they believe in fruitless killings. Can ideologies be killed? Why do you think the nigerian government is rehabilitating the bandits? I don't support terrorism but the USA is not a Saint. On behalf of we nigerian Christians, I apologize to our Muslim brothers for the unnecessary provocations
