PoliticsFashola Tackles Keyamo, Says Buhari’s Action Not Contempt Of S’court by Lionize(op): 1:15pm On Feb 20, 2023
Politics made the Festus guy throw reasoning away sometimes, doesn't really sound like a lawyer those times.
Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has disagreed with his counterpart, Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, over his recent comment for faulting President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive that the old N200 be recirculated until April 10, 2023, while the old N500 and N1,000 cease to be legal tender.
Fashola, who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), at the weekend, argued that the directive of the president was not a direct affront to Supreme Court that had momentarily stopped the move to ban the old currencies by February 10, 2023.

Former Lagos state governor, while speaking on TVC, on Sunday, maintained that the president only took the step to help assuage the hardships of Nigerians who were bearing the brunt of the policy.
Keyamo, who is a spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, had in an interview on Channels Television, said the president was wrongly advised to make the pronouncement in a nationwide broadcast.

According to Keyamo, although Buhari had good intentions for the naira redesign policy, he was wrongly advised.

APP PCC spokesperson also said he would have advised the president to comply with the Supreme Court order, which was to recirculate all the old notes until they decide on the matter.

“My view is that the president acted honestly, without intention to slight the Supreme Court, but he may have acted on wrong advice. I did not give that advice, it’s not my responsibility. I do not know who gave that advice.

“Now, if I were to advise him, I would have advised differently. I would have advised him to comply with the terms of the order of the Supreme Court. All the notes should circulate for now, all the notes. All the old notes should circulate side by side with the new notes for now, because that is the order of the Supreme Court,” Keyamo said.

However, Fashola, reacting to Keyamo’s statement said the recent nationwide broadcast by Buhari on the ongoing naira redesign policy was not a contempt of the Supreme Court.

He stated that although the naira swap policy needed to be reviewed, the president took the decision because he had seen the suffering many Nigerians were facing and not to spite the apex court.

Fashola explained, “Let me say that in a democracy where there is a right to speak freely, there’s bound to be divergence of views, as you have had. But I think that the principle about respecting and awaiting the outcome of a court decision sometimes has been stretched, if I may use that word.

“There is also a lot of jurisprudence and scholarship about the boundaries of contempt in actions done and in things said. If I shut the door on your finger, and you went to court to say that the court should direct me to remove or open the door, do I say let’s wait for the outcome of court decision when you are in pain, and people are in pain?

“The question to ask is if I attempt to open that door, would you, the person in pain, say I was acting in contempt or would you gladly have me open the door and then go back to the court and say the matter we have resolved it?

“And that is another angle to look at this thing because I think that whatever interventions the president sought to make were interventions in response to the very palpable pain and I think he said that much in his speech about the unintended consequences of the policy.”

PoliticsRe: Northern Muslims In Anambra Recout How Obi Brought Them Food During Ramadan by Lionize: 12:33pm On Feb 19, 2023
hmn. Apathy aside, Peter Obi is the most qualified in this race if being corrupt is not a yardstick to lead Nigeria. From my assessment, with Peter Obi, many Nigerians will grow economically, that is, the common wealth will be evenly distributed. But with others, the common wealth will be cornered into the pockets of few, politicians and corrupt businessmen.

The truth is, if the president doesn't steal, he will have the moral strength to punish anyone who steals under him.

I agree with you
BusinessRe: Data Breach: GT, Zenith Banks Under Investigation - NDPB by Lionize: 11:12am On Jan 31, 2023
handsomeyinka:
The account officers of most banks are thieves.

They give out links of accounts to most fraudsters.

I think the government should rather encourage the citizens that banks will be held responsible for fraudulent activities and moreso they should create a portal to report such activities to the central bank of Nigeria.

If the bank fails to pay back the money stolen from an account holder, then the CBN should automatically pay the account holder and charge the corresponding bank with higher interest for such negligence.

Just My Own Little idea to protect ourselves.
If they do that just watch how Nigerian banks will frustrate you. They will either make you only execute transfer instructions on video, of over the counter.

But seriously, frauds hardly happen in personal accounts without the account holder completing it. It is just education of the masses that will solve this. As I am now, I don't see how someone can sweep my account if not the bank directly debiting my account. I had to block that stupid USSD on my account just by entering the wrong pin several times and I am asked to come to the bank to unblock it. SO even if u have access to my sim, u can't even do shi shi.

Some countries abroad, before u complete some transactions, u must authorise it from an app that can only be installed on one phone, and that app is your security for almost everything you do. If for any reason you send money to someone and go to the bank to claim it was a fraud, the bank has no business with that. Go and tell your story to the police.

Recently, an Australian girl was scammed of all her life savings, She transferred the money to the scammer in the bank. She went to the bank to reverse or recover the fund but the bank told her she initiated the transfer so there is nothing they can do. na so the scammer get field day squander the money

We saw it in kastina 2019. Apc was decamping to PDP like crazy. At the end of the day, Buhari had over 1 million votes and Atiku had less than 100k votes. That's why I don't trust all these their rubbish deflections and decamping. Until I see Inec results. My mind go calm down.

One of two things will happen at the Appeal Court, either it is upturned or a retrial will be ordered but since there is no time, it should be upturned.

It is funny....just take a look at the majority judgement and tell me you wouldn't laugh.

No, the husband's body is in the US. Obviously, she doesn't have any chance of going there. The warning shot has been fired by her husband's people. Convert everything to liquid cash and then make necessary expenses and wait for them.

Is the man from a part of Abia state?
Advice: get a lawyer involved. Sell all sellable that are in the city, convert to liquid cash, and then purchase other properties in your name. Don't touch anything in the village.
Private chat me if he is from Abia state. If you were legally married, you own whatever both of you owned. But some wicked brothers-inlaw, especially one particular part of Abia state (this one I am dead sure), though they may be wealthy, they will come to strip you of everything, even if you have little kids. Grupo:
What do you mean by story must be told.
If the people involved don't want you to tell their story, respect that and back off.
Whatever happens under the sun must be talked about, with or without your consent. The only issue here is that it is being used as a money-making venture, and to such a large audience. Someday if someone writes or acts a story of the most notorious armed robber in Nigeria who uses a Volkswagen car and a Peugeot, then he goes to Mid-western Nigeria to seek consent. All the stories you've heard in this life nobody consulted anybody before you heard them. History is unforgiving. .

If they can stop her and netflix, by all means they should do. But if not, life goes on. I hope the boys were not cultists too. We learn from history every day. No occurrence, no matter how pleasant or awful, pleases 100% of humanity. Even when an armed robber faces firing squad, though it is televised without the consent of his people, his people feel terrible about it and the memory never leaves them. But on the other hand, it entertains and cautions the public.
NB; It will disgust me if they are seeking to be let in on the share of the proceeds from the movie.

They need the information so they can shut the people up permanently. This is where the president comes in if he really means to expose the thieves. These politicians know they will lose a lot if power returns to Nigerians. They know it.

Pray for your person to live to see the result not to talk of breath to start fighting thereafter. It is serious. Only God knows the end from the beginning.
