Food / Re: Have You Ever Eaten A Food Cooked By Your Dad? by lorhema(f): 5:50pm On Aug 20, 2021
My father was a good cook. When we were young, he cooked Sunday brunch for the family.

He liked to cook. When he wanted to cook, he'd go to the market and shop for the items he wanted. He always got better bargains than my mum did.

His soups, egusi and okra and a yam and plantain pottage, were always rich. Lots of protein to enjoy.

He was the first son of my grandma who believed that boys must be trained to do housework just like girls.

Can two walk together except they are agreed?

Do not be unequally yoked.

These guidelines from God's word are unchanging. I have seen people disregard them and eventually admit to regrets.

My sister, wait for the Lord whom you serve. You don't want to marry him and live a life of regret. The signs you see and the questions you are asking yourself should tell you that this isn't the road to take.

The spiritual aspect of marriage is too important to be overlooked.

I fancy this type of roofing. What are the disadvantages pls.

My father built his house with this type of roof in the seventies. One rainstorm in the early 80s took off the upper roof. The house was flooded and a lot of stuff had to be thrown out.

The roof was fixed but it was made a basic roof.

It's an interesting design but I would never adopt it after seeing what happened to my parents.

The thing is most times we are so in a haste to leave our current place of work that we fail to do the elementary things we ought to do.

I can't agree more with your view. In particular, the one I have quoted.

In 1989, I was desperate to leave my job and cross over to another industry. I had passed through tests at an institution and, when I visited their HR weeks later, was told I excelled.

I was going to resign from my job but talked with my home fellowship leader. I tried my best to convince him that the new job was mine but he kept saying' Wait till you get the letter of offer'.

Please imagine how shocked I was when, a couple of weeks later, the PA to the proprietor came to my office to show me the confidential report they had written in response to a request from the new company and had sent.

We shouldn't be desperate and end up being exploited by employers.

I'll say, like Deacon Dos said decades ago, don't resign from your job till you get the letter of offer from the new employer.

Some things don't change.

OP this is lagos where if you're patient, the other person will take you as a muntula, if you're slow the other person will shove you aside, if you're calm while explaining in an argument, the other person will see that as a weakness and capitalise on it.

This is lagos, you don't have to slack at all.

I actually prefer to take things easy. I remember one day when I had driven to Ikorodu and was returning home. At a major junction in Yaba, I was waiting for the traffic light when a man standing by the side of the road told me with a smile that I had crossed a line on the road. I knew I hadn't and that if I wasn't careful, I would end my day at the local government office.

I began to shout and challenge him to show me the line. I was hollering, waving my hands and making such a display that the man retreated. As I drove home from that point, I hated what I had just done. It just wasn't me and I felt like I was being sucked into the mess around.

I always tell people this.

A survey plan on its own is not a 'valid' title, either registered or unregistered.

A survey plan only shows you the dimension and location of a land, its coordinates and may be the beacon numbers.

5 of us can have a survey plan drawn in our names by 5 different land surveyors on a single plot.

What you should do is to ask the vendor if he/she has a valid title that confirms he owns the land.

if he doesn't have other than a receipt (which itself does not confirm ownership, cause I can also issue you a receipt on a land that doesn't belong to me) take the survey plan to the Office of the Surveyor General of Oyo State, and Chart it first to confirm if the land is free from acquisition and if under acquisition, is it committed or can be ratified by you obtaining consent to Survey.

Start here first

Thank you for this explanation.

The seller was a member of a cooperative which purchased and shared the land. They passed all checks. The only issue is they had planned to get a global C of O but now lack the funds to do it.

[quote author=davodyguy post=98048357]Let's create something on this thread

If you have questions pertaining to titles of land or approval to build, please ask me[/quote

We got a plot of land in Ibadan and were given a survey plan in the seller's name. The plan isn't registered. We have had it prepared in our name.

What is it useful for?
Should we get a registered one in our name instead?

Thank you for your response.
Investment / Re: How To Retrieve Your Unclaimed Dividends by lorhema(f): 11:41am On Jan 14, 2021
The hurdles placed by the registrars on the path to your completing the processing of the e-dividend mandate frustrates many people. That's why the figures for unclaimed dividends s keep increasing. I was one of them till I tied my wrapper and tried again last year. I'm still on it.

Actually, rather than have these registrars and companies creaming off the dividend funds and frustrating owners, the government should use the unclaimed dividends and put them to good use.

I don't think so.

Besides, students will need data. Some students don't own laptops or smartphones.

Is she maternal in any way?

I support his parents. The investigation should be completed and lessons learnt.

It's good that the principal has been suspended.

I'd like to ask him what he meant to achieve by putting that poor child in the SS2 block. Perhaps I'd learn something new about ways to stop bedwetting.

. It is always good to know and understand the story from both side,, I was at that airport on Sunday evening,, only for us passagers to be told that we can't fly that night,, because there was no seat, what happened to the ones we paid for, dana air couldn't even give any explanation, Dr. Chike was not given any alternative to fly the next morning,, they even told us that the next available flight for us is Monday 7pm,, that was when passagers started reacting and destroying things. I regret ever booking danaair,, useless airline.

I believe this report because it's more like what I've experienced. That Dana story didn't cut it.

Why are they not suing him but stopping at telling us he has a bad history with airlines? It's because their hands are not clean on this matter and if he sues them too, they could lose and pay damages.

Customer care is a very weak part of our service industry.

Personally the state of the country is scary. Even those with good paying jobs are facing job insecurity cos of imminent layoffs. Inflation is another palaver. Imagine Gino tomato that goes for#50 now go for #100. Then another mentality of some people that God will take care of them is sickening. I'm not saying God won't take care of them but what plans do you have. I know of a private school teacher collecting #25000 salary and married with 3 kids before securing Npower job. After getting the job, he married another wife who now has two kids. All this because of #30000 Npower. Now, I don't have any pity to spare some people languishing in poverty cos of wrong decisions.

I pity the children because they didn't ask to be born.

I have a relation who is a teacher in a private school in Lagos and has six children. He isn't even 45 years old so I've always wondered what he was thinking while having so many offspring.

Relating with him is difficult because of his 'give me' attitude.

Other people have a little to spare only because they make their plans and ask God to help them.

Nigeria is tough. Lagos more so but some people have dug the holes they are in . Unfortunately, with their innocent children.

This is a tip I'll file away.

In our first build, I got the roofer from Iyana-Ipaja. He gave me the cutting list as I requested.

Then I said we were going to a factory at Oregun to make the purchase. When we got there, I went straight to the sales desk and met the woman who was about my age. I gave her the list and now noticed that the roofer was uncomfortable.

I didn't think much of it. The woman looked at him and asked him if his measurement was correct. He said "yes".

I paid and we loaded the aluminium into a truck and returned to the site.

In the days that followed, it became clear that the aluminium was too much

I now understood that he wouldn't have bought what was stated on the cutting list but would have kept the extra cash if we had given him the money for the purchase like he expected.

I had to use the extra aluminium to make a canopy in a corner of the yard for hanging washing during the rainy season. I still have some left over in a store.

They see it as business. But I think it's all because we don't fear God. Forget about the facade of religion.
