Didn't she see the label. It's sweetcorn, not the regular mouth organ one but the one for making salads, fried rice, etc.
Sweet corn is more expensive than the regular corn. A friend on the plateau sold some from her farm at 300 naira per kilogramme.

Is It only in the West that people get married? Why establish another registry in Ikeja and Ibadan when other parts of Nigeria have none?
It's a revenue drive. So they are targeting the people who are most likely to sign up.

RomanceRe: She's Pregnant 18 Months After Her Husband’s Death by lorhema(f): 12:53pm On Jul 27, 2019
Ryan03:
She have a son for her late husband)
The fact that she had a son for her late husband means that she should seek to maintain relations with her in-laws, I believe.

The boy should have a link to his father's people especially in this season when some step parents have been shown to be mean to their step children and their partners say or do nothing.

It's her life and since she's pregnant, she's made her decision. She should just seek to give the child some access to his father's family.

TheWrita:
Who is the idiot that gives a total STRANGER lift in a sick place like Lagos?Don't you know some people you see on the road are not human?
Sometimes I see the teeming masses of people on the road side and I am tempted to stop and pick one or two.
But
I remember my life is precious to me and I step on the pedal.
Your kindness will be repaid with pain.

P.s:I said TOTAL stranger.
In the nineties, a friend at church gave me a ride to church. He told me of a bad experience he had had. He had given a young woman a lift on his way to church and was to drop her at Masha.

When he stopped the car so she could alight, she told him to give her money. My friend said he was shocked at her demand. He said he rebuked her and she coolly told him that if he didn't give her the money she wanted, she would create a scene and tell people he slept with her and didn't want to pay up!

My gentle friend said he paid up. And would never give any stranger a lift again.

PoliticsRe: Cooking Gas Consumers Will No Longer Own Cylinders – FG by lorhema(f): 11:29am On May 22, 2019
It was the pattern till the 90s but I found that I changed my good cylinders for dented, rusted ones when I visited the Total station.

So I switched to buying/ exchanging gas from the young men around Shomolu. The cylinders at the filling station were not well maintained and were, to me, a risk.

I hope we won't go back to getting damaged cylinders in exchange for our good ones.

MsBella:
I remember visiting Jos as a child, the memories of that trip have stayed with me all these years.
My mother visited Jos in the seventies and still talks about the quality of the suya she ate then and the rich colour of the flowers.

Jos is still a nice place. The heat in April and May was unprecedented ( up to 40*C) but oldies feel it is due to more than global warming. A couple of them felt it was helped by the cutting down of trees which lined major roads by individuals. The wood is used for construction work!

Pls o my people, good morning. Pls I need urgent response to my questions o.

Iam planning on buying a land in an estate in ibadan, but iam based in ilorin, what is your view ?

Also, all these estate lands, can we say they are free from qovt acquisitions or all these omo oniles at the future ?

Is an estate land a good property to buy ?

And moreso, what does it mean by "Government chatting certificate" ?

Also what are the necessary things I need to do or certificates I need to get to be free from all the wahalas and problems associated with land?

Pls help a sister out, as I don't know much about land biko o. Thanks.
I don't think you should rush to buy land. Please get some education about land issues first. You could read up @lawyer's old posts. They are relevant. With the knowledge you'd have gained you'd be equipped to review land deals and avoid losing your money.

Doesn't look like there are plans to reroof it. Such a waste of resources.
BusinessRe: Do You Need Hard Copy Versions Of Books? by lorhema(f): 12:22pm On May 07, 2019
@ Op, in the 70s there was this book, 'Students' Companion', that was an excellent and simple guide to the use of English.

I bought a book with a similar title recently but it isn't the one I want for my offspring. This one is more for undergraduates.

Could you get me a copy of the 70s version that secondary school children digested? Thank you for your response.

Yeah, Lekki and most of the Island has no long term future. This has been a certainty for many years now. Only Dangote refinery will be left standing and that is because it will have the resources to keep the water back and build a bridge to the mainland. Global warming is decisive and irreversible. All my property holding must be disposed of over the next decade before house prices begin to fall.

If you have landed property anywhere from Gbagada and upwards get teady for a property boom that you or more certainly your kids will reap. Alternatively invest in the sand dredging business. These are sure banker boom businesses over the next thirty years plus.
Do you think Epe will survive?

CrimeRe: Two Children, Aged 3 And 4 Tortured And Starved By Their Aunt In Edo (photos) by lorhema(f):
Focusmind:
Is there a way of stopping poor people or people without means to give birth to Children? I will gladly support that.

I travelled down to village and cried my hearts out seeing how rough and difficult life is for these poor kids back in the village. The miles people of my daughter and son's ages (5 and 4) trek to go to their school and how they were sweating under the current intense sun, looking so malnourished with brown hairs. I came back and looked at my little 8 months son with full thick and black hairs every where. Nutrition has a way of making an infant look healthy and mentally stable.

They were all looking underfed and alienated and looking at me for just anything. Yet you will see one wretched woman in Lagos or any city, pregnant and with three kids beside and in front waiting for Danfo driver a bus top. You will just pity those kids as some of them are just waiting to get home at that time of the night to eat whatever they have.

I deliberately told one woman I assisted to stop giving birth at 4 kids if things are this rough for her. She said that Children are gift from God and one day, one of her kids will grow and become somebody and assist her out of poverty. See her mentality of having multiple children without means of catering for them.
This reminds me of a painter from my then office who came to work on my apartment and complained about not being allowed to get services for all of his children at the office clinic.

I asked him how many children he had and he said "7". The clinic cared for a maximum of four children per worker. I asked if he planned to have more and he said "Yes" because children were a gift from God.

I asked about his older children and he said he would be happy if his eldest son became a vulcanizer!

This man was working in an organization which emphasized education yet this was his mindset.

I gently asked him to tell me how many children our bosses had and he gave me the numbers because he had worked in their homes. The highest figure was 4.

I then asked him to imagine that two plates with equal portions of food were put on a table. One plate of food was eaten by 8 people while the other was eaten by four people. I then asked him which group would be satisfied. He said the four person group would be better fed.

Then I told him that that was the idea behind watching the size of the family. There'd be more resources available for members of a small family.

After giving him time to think about what we had discussed, I asked him if he still thought he should have more children and he said "No". I hope he put his new belief into practice.

The funny thing is they are 100% of not getting treated in Germany (like the biker son of our president) and about 70% or 80% sure of not getting immediate treatment in their locality, if an accident occurs.

It is just common sense such things like skating with shoes or a board should be done in special courts/grounds or residential areas with very good roads and make they are on the pedestrain lanes while at it.
