Truly.
A man called me last week. He said he was calling from my bank. He stated my full name and said my bank was reviewing my records and found I had two dates of birth recorded which he read out and asked me which one was correct.

I would have responded but for the fact that I learnt on Nairaland that no bank will call to ask for personal details from you.

I told him I didn't give such details over the phone and before I was done speaking, he cut the call.

He sounded very professional, just like a customer care officer.

Pls is there a Type gum I can use to fix my tank from leaking I have tried dike dike but not working and I heard there is a particular kind of gum I can use for it.... pls help help.

Recently, we had a leaking tank and the plumber used silicone to plug the leak...on the exterior of the tank. It worked for just a few hours.

We called him back and this time, got him to empty the tank, go into it and dry the area of the leakage before applying silicone...inside.

Months later, the leakage hasn't reoccurred
You could try this..

Interestingly, the Malayalis are very friendly outside India. Maybe the educated ones though, since those are the ones I have related with.

Actually, the negative activities of some of our Nigerian brethren (drugs, 419 etc) in the last decade or so have given us a bad image. People have read and seen too many reports about us and would rather avoid us if possible. Racism aside.

Op, you did the right thing.
Reduce your stress and pay the outstanding bill so your line can be reconnected.

Then visit your landlord and appeal to him to reimburse you fully or partly.

If he refuses to, let go. God will give you far more than you'd have lost. Meanwhile you will sleep well. NEPA issues can cause a person to have HBP.

Na so government work be
So i go advise you make you tell your mummy make she accept the posting...

This is the truth about this work setup. It's better to move to the new post and see how to manage things.

She has just three years to retirement and shouldn't do anything to mar her record.

Maintain your stand. You and your husband should be able to make decisions and stand by it. When you start compromising and relaxing your decisions, you will have to continue because she will always try to overturn it; when she knows that all she has to do is call everyone to call you.

It's manipulation, and it shouldn't be encouraged. She should respect your decision and not try to have her way. You and your husband make the final decision

I couldn't agree more.

Please let your husband lead especially since you say he is adamant that you both do things the way you have planned.

I'm sure if you ask her, she'd give you her reason. It could be one of the right things our parents do wrongly.
[/quote]

My mum did this.

She told her siblings that my sibling and I didn't take care of her. When I asked her why she did so, she said she didn't want people asking her for loans!

Well, I told her brother what was happening and he talked to her and put a stop to it.

It hurts so I wouldnt advise Op to be silent. He should let her close sibling know what is going on..

Tor !! I won't advice any sensible human being to do business on nairaland as most of the so-called business guys are scammers looking for whom to devour with fake gadget !

My bitter experience with buying TV with Sommydisaster is something that lives forever.
If your business is good , tell people in your neighbourhood to patronise you and then they will bring their customers to you.

Sorry STENON. It's risky buying things here.

Properties / Re: Can I Be Forced To Sell My Inheritance? by lorhema(f): 10:30am On Jan 08, 2020
livebyday:

Firstly it's not your home more than it's theirs .. there is no will indicating your as primary custodian of the estate (the house)

So whether you where born and raised there is totally irrelevant.

Yes the house can be sold without your consent and all children are deemed beneficiaries of the estate and you are not stated in any document as executor of the estate hence you have no power above the other children.

The house will be sold.whether you approve or not and it doesn't belong to you it belongs to all biological children of your late father . Whether you live there and get married there is irrelevant the home is not yours

Move out , it is not your inheritance it's all of biological children's inheritance

Tough but true.

Hi @lorhema. I read a post you wrote about living in jos. I can see you've moved to lagos.
I'm thinking about relocating to jos. Is it advisable to move there? What's the electricity situation like? And what's the average cost of a self contain?
Thanks.

It's temporary. Jos is our base. The electricity supply is good in the Miango Road axis which I am familiar with. Up to 20 hours supply on the average at the Federal and State housing estates.

From time to time, crises erupt but if you observe some security protocols, you will be okay. There are, after all, many foreigners living and doing business in Jos. Even when the crisis was at its peak.

You get a high quality of life and your money counts. The economic strains are now visible so you need to research the type of business you plan to go into.

I'm sorry but I have no idea of the cost of rent in Jos.

This account provides greater clarity on the events of that fateful evening.

But aspects of the narrative provided by the assailants are clearly bogus. For instance, I'm not sure it is the couple's responsibility to pay the fool's salary as the estate electrician. That is the responsibility of the facility management department of the estate. The estate employed you, not the couple, so they have no business with you..

What I can deduce is that the idiot must have been begging them for money with a sense of entitlement, as many disgusting Nigerians do. If they see a fairly well to do person, you expect such a person automatically owes you 'help' or freebies. Why?

The sense of entitlement of many poor Nigerians is mind boggling.

Couldn't have said it better.

Babinski:

IPPIS is not a scam. It is the selective implementation that should be questioned and corrected. The reason given for not including CBN, NNPC and FIRS is not valid.

A business entity does not consist only of marketers or sales people. Everyone is important. To make a rule that sales people pay themselves from sales because they generate revenue and should not be subject to general company payroll is very bad and selective business policy!

That's the summary.

Wrong is wrong but why did it take so long?

Possibly because one of the parties in the case of impersonation recently wrote to WAEC to confess to wrongdoing in those exams based on their desire for restitution.

All because she wet the bed? Then my friend's 15-year-old who bed wets regularly should have been killed a long time ago.

I would like to think there wasn't a good relationship to start with. How can one be so physical in correcting a mishap.

Sad.

little mistakes... engineer is prolly on the run now.

Little mistakes? I don't think so. I'm looking out at a construction site right now.

The foundation slab was completed on Saturday. On Monday, yes Monday, the setting of blocks began. Right now, the iron-bender is at work on the lintels.

Wondering what happened to the rule about leaving slabs to cure for 28 days.
I'm waiting to see how long the decking of the top floors will be allowed to cure.

Sometimes, I feel these incidents occur because the rules for construction are not obeyed even though standard materials are utilized.
