Highly unnecessary. 8 years is more than enough to study medicine, 4 years in basic medical science and 4 years in medicine. The problem with medical training in Nigeria is not the length of time, but the facilities and infrastructure. I known a school where anatomy students have never seen a cadaver
I agree totally with you.8 years with adequate facilities is what medical schools need in Nigeria.
NUC is now introducing into medical studies what they did to the law profession; that is adding more years to study the course and also increase the cost of studying the course in question.
The above move has tended to give an elitist bent to the study of law as only the rich or those who can borrow can afford study law.
I pray this policy does not lead to students shunning the study of Medcine and Surgery and in the long term lead to dearth of Medical Doctors in the country.

[quote author=Iamsane post=43677522]You too get over-sense. You would have asked me why I blame failure of family structure.
You see, if the father and mother are separated, its possible that the lady might have grown up with her mother, only for her to be suddenly bundled over to her father.
Due to the fact that there was no father-daughther bonding earlier on, some men with paedophilic desires, might go after their own daughther when an opportunity presents itself.
Infact there is a case I read about in the US where the daughther was a young lady in her 20s' before she set eyes on her father; the outcome of this is that the lady is now pregnant for her father and they are planning to stay togetherafter she delivers her baby.
So when am talking about the breakdown in the family structure, I know what am talking about.
Btw, it can happen in either christian or muslim families.

Musa Gowon is the son of former head of state Gen. Yakubu Gowon(retd.) and late Princess Princess Edith Ike Okongwu. Fondly called Big Mus by his close friends, Musa Gowon now sports a cool look since he returned to Nigeria from the United States of America in November 2015. Recall on Tuesday, 8th March 2016, Yakubu Gowon confirmed being Musa’s father following the report of a conclusive DNA test. In her lifetime, Musa's mother Princess Okongwu had dragged Gowon to court and the paternity dispute was the subject of a legal action that reached the Supreme Court in Nigeria, which Okongwu won. This confirmation by the former Head of State brought to an end the 48-year-old paternity dispute over Musa Gowon.

Even without the result of the DNA test, you can see clearly he's Jack's son smiley
I am happy for Big Mus; I mean all his years of feeling rootless, not knowing where to belong, has come to an end.

Im an old member of this forum but decided to open another account.

This police guy called mohammed was involved in a brawl with me today.

It all started when i am my two brothers were coming back from oregun, ikeja today 7th of Monday at about 3:45 pm; On approaching a turning towards Ikeja along, railway. We met few police men on mufti while some were on uniform in a hide out looking for prey.

We approached this cop whose picture is attached; to ask if we could make right one a road with clearly "NO SIGN OF ONE WAY" Written anywhere; and the next he did was, jump into the car, perhaps telling us we followed a "ONE WAY ROUTE". Even after much explanations to him, he played a deaf , and the next thing was for him to drag the car key from the ignition hole while the vehicle was on motion.

This was a road we haven't even entered.

All these pictures were taken when We ended up at the railway crossing, Anifowoshe ikeja crossing. The man behind him is working with him too. If police were actually my friend, why is his different?
I think you should report this incident to the Police complaint line or twitter account.
The impunity and high-hand attitude of bad cops should stop.

Could you please talk more on the argentina thing and SAP actions. Thanks
Around year 2001 in Argentina, the minister of the economy issued a directive that owners of dollar denominated domicilliary accounts could not withdraw money from them, except they convert them to pesos (the local currency) at the official ruling rate. This was a forced, though indirect, conversion of the dollar domicilliary accounts to pesos accounts blogs.premiumtimesng.com/making-meaning-of-the-fx-markets-by-uddin-ifeanyi/.
Also the SAP, structural adjustment Program was imposed by the IMF and World Bank, in the 1980s' , on countries that wanted to borrow money from them.
The SAP involved turning of the country involved economy to a market based one with liberalisation of imports and deregulation among other policy measures.
The deregulation of the exchange rate of the Naira to other foreign currencies led to a fall in the value of the Naira as, for example the Naira had an exchange rate of $1 to N1 before the deregulation, but after the deregulation it fell to $1 to N 4
The above scenerio meant there was a loss in the value of most naira denominated accounts and with the economy of the country being an import dependent one, the harsh economic effect on the citizens was so intense.

Business › Re: $20billion Dollars Idle In Few Individual's Domiciliary Accounts-cbn by lozanni(m): 1:05pm On Mar 04, 2016
Blaming these Nigerians with the $20 billion domicilliary accounts is counter-productive as this can cause them to move those funds to foreign banks like countless Nigerians in business, the academia and politics who own many foreign accounts.
The Government should work to achieve long term stability in the exchange rate between the naira and other convertible currencies so that these Nigerians can have the full confidence to keep their earnings in naira.
The Government can borrow the $20 billon in the domicilliary accounts through issuance of dollar denominated treasury bills, with income far above the current rate earned by domicilliary accounts in Nigeria, wnhich will be guaranteed by major banking groups, like the Paris group of bankers, to guarantee the safety and viability of funds to the owners of the domicilliary accounts.
Commandeering the funds, like Argentina did, will have serious long term negative consequences on the economy because the human memory is very long and the Super-rich will not forget this in a hurry as many of them are still lamenting the effect SAP under IBB had on their assets and naira account balances, hence the decision by many of them to hold domicilliary accounts till the present day.

You as if you lack analytical skills.

Is there anywhere it was alluded or stated that such applies on all multiple choice exams?
Its not a matter of lacking analytical.skills, it is generally taken as a norm where objective questions are involved and I can bet you Jamb applies this in marking its papers; that is why most students are at a loss over the scores given to them by Jamb.
However, I do not know the exact form Jamb uses in grading students results as there are differents methods that can be used, some of which are downright complex; imagine from the above article, one varient decides the scores a student gets by attaching a weight to the wrong answers the students gives and deducting this from the correct answers the said student gave to get the student's final score.
We need to appeal to Jamb to allow students to understand how their objective questions are marked to avoid doubt and suspicion among students sitting for its exams.

meanwhile I am sure what I wrote that dat shii can not be my score.
now to the whole truth.. teachers of the subjects I sat for were the ones who helped and answered all of the questions.. I also croschecked the ones I knew especially biology, and it was all the correct answers.
now only for Jamb to send me161.. I have gone online to check it but it seems that their portal isn't yet opened..
so who has had this experience before.. and can this be a sort of mistakes or what?
(

MODIFIED.... ITS OFFICIAL. 161..

THATS MY FATE AND I ACCEPT IT.. .. I TRIED.. EVERY BODY TRIED.. BUT NATURE SAYS OTHERWISE....

..LIFE GOES ON.

Those teachers who helped you were the types who carried first from behind during their student days, lolz.
Seriously, you lose a mark plus another mark , as penalty, for every wrong answer you give in the Jamb exams. However, for any question you leave unanswered, maybe you dont have the answer, you are given one-quarter of the mark as bonus.
The above scenerio holds true for all objective exams in order to discourage guess work.
Your papers were marked by computer readers and must have given an objective assessment of your performance.
Better luck next time.

Those names you mention will NEVER improve the lives of the common man.Business does not have to be big to change society.
We need security, professional police rule of law and justice for everyone. A clear path for settling even small disputes of 20000 naira that involves LAW accessible to all, protection from touts. Rural development policies. Not grandiose summits of the rich. Governments needs to start meeting with the poor just like Fayose is doing but it can be more focused and professional. Let them start going to Nigerian markets
You are right. Where there is no peace and lack of justice, there can be no economic growth and development. The rule of law is neccessary to ensure security, economic justice and peace in the nation.

Some small-scale vibrant industrialists who are well connected to the people at the grassroots can also be incorporated in the ecocomic summit, so that the viewpoints of people at that level can be heard in charting the way forward for the country.

Indonesia, under President Surhato, using small scale industries to develop their country and move their country from a poor one to a middle income country.

LordAdam:
PMB should make this guy a consultant. He just nailed it here.

A. Full diversification of the economy cannot happen overnight.
B. There should be good fiscal policies that would create incentives for budding industries. Right now there is none.

These are the real issues not "exchange rate" or devaluation/no devaluation. Even if we devalue the naira now, nothing will improve because there are no policies to take advantage of the decision.

I'm positive that if Buhari spends one month to assemble a formidable team, and brainstorm on a range of policies to affect budding Nigerian industries especially the buoyant agric sector, investors confidence will be piqued and the economy will stop falling. Look at the fiscal policies on local processing of rice and automotive policy by GEJ. Those are sound policies.

Buhari needs to push forward with good policies of his own. Tomatoes are wasting in the north and we are still importing tomato paste when our local tomato paste manufacturers face plenty of logistical challenges. That mini-industry needs government input. Increase import duty on tomato paste and make low interest loans available for the producers. Very soon, like with cement, we would be totally dependent on local production and start exporting tomato paste.

There are many mini-industries like that, that need Buhari's timely intervention to grow and further diversify the economy, but the dullard will prefer to travel without placing emphasis on the economy.
-Lord
Well Written Lord !!! Please no name calling because we are all affected.
You hit the nail on the head. I have a friend from Kano State who is currently lamenting the fact that, tomato producing farmlands in Kano are laying in waste; previously he stated that those farms were producing tomatoes in season and out of season, using irrigation from the now defunct River basin Authorities. He stated that those farms would have produced enough food for Nigeria and also export some which would have earned the country hard foreign echange; look at Italy for example.
The above scenerio in production of tomatoes, plays out in other agricultural products like groundnuts and other products which could have been also used in agro-allied industries to save foreign exchange.
I am glad Bubu has finally taken Professor Wole Soyinka's advice to convene an economic summit. I hope he incorporates the likes of Professor Pat Utomi, Aliko Dangote, Innocent Chukwuma (Innoson), Dr. Mike Awonuga (Globacom), Mr. Tony Elumelu (Transcorp Group), Dr. Akinwunmi Adeshina (current ADB Chairman), Alhaji Isayaku Rabiu (BUA Group), Dr Ifeanyi Uba (Capital Oil) and lots of intellectuals and corporate czars who know about the inner workings of our economy into it.

2. She came down with an amused countenance while people were trying to contain the situation.
3. She and her friend (or should I say accomplice lipsrsealed) kept mocking while yall were in pains.
And the biggest hint of all... She was the only one at home! While there was no material that could start a fire on its own in the house.

She should be interrogated in this manner...
There might be no physical evidence linking the bad neighbour to the fire, even though her baby seater caught fire.
Me thinks that it was spiritual fire that bad neighbour used against the Op.
If you studied African religion, under the humanities at the University, you will understand that African magic is of two types: 1. Magic by similarity & 2. Magic by contact.
Its possible she used magic by similarity against the Op.
She could have been chanting in her apartment: "As this baby seater is burning with fire, let her very valuable goods and property catch fire and burn completely"
I suggest that you equip yourself with spiritual armour through a strong Pastor to avoid further attacks from such wicked neighbour.
Goodluck.
