I saw this movie yesterday, and I was disappointed. So overrated...... The storyline was just not connected..... They were just trying too much to make the audience laugh......
Interesting observation, the movie is like a collection of skits. Assuming movie ticket is 2000 naira , that means 25000 people have seen this movie all over Nigeria in one week. I think each cinema hall is about 250 seats. That's like 100 sold out screenings in one week all over Nigeria. Interesting. Anyways only 60 percent of the money is for her. I think the cinemas take 40 percent

It will be interesting to see how this APC government will fund it's campaign next year. All in All, buhari and magu are not fighting corruption. They are just recouping the proceeds of corruption and pouring it back to the system to be looted. It's like using a bowl to collect water from a leaking tank then pouring it back to the same leaking tank .the least a reasonable government would have done is to Tie looted funds to specific health and education sector projects. If you read the budget of the state house/a so rock and see how much Mr president is budgeting to spend, then you will know he's not fighting corruption. I will see how they will fund their campaign next year without stealing from public purse.

This afonja vs Igbo thing is not funny anymore. Question we youths have to be asking is if this man alongside the likes of alakija, igho sanomi , jimoh ibrahim, otedola , kola aluko, wale tinubu, ifeanyi ubah ,tonye Cole and ndimi who are major players in the oil industry made their money through sheer hardwork and business strategies. Most of these people are just fronts for the corrupt politicians of past and present. The elite thieves know nothing like afonja or Igbo. We need to ask serious questions. If this man made his money clean without corruption or money laundering,he is worthy to be celebrated. The oil industry is a funny place. You can be a billionaire in 5 seconds in the oil industry . If you don't believe ask jide omokhere and kola aluko who registered companies today and were awarded multi billion dollars oil contracts the next day.
EducationRe: Do Private University Graduates Find It Hard To Get Jobs In Nigeria? by Lyoncrescent:
To be honest, this public vs private uni debate is far drawn. My simple advice is try and get quality professional certificates in your field. Some public universities will swear they have the best LAW faculties yet when they meet babcock law students in Law school, they discover they are also equally good. If you go to babcock or unilag to study accounting, try your best to have your ICAN or ACCA by the time you graduate. Same thing with professional IT certifications. Gone are the days employers have perception towards particular universities. Now its about your individual abilities and qualifications. I work with brilliant graduates from Adeleke university and Joseph Ayo Babalola university just like i have colleagues from Ambrose Ali University and IMSU who are also brilliant and good at what they do.

In conclusion, every university in Nigeria is below par. Take any subject field in the world and No Nigerian university is in the top 30 in any field. That alone says all universities are crap here and thus only individual abilities matter. It is as bad as the admission process. Do you know that if you are in the UK and you want to do a Masters degree in UNILAG, you must physically come to Nigeria to write exam and do other things ?Whereas if you are in Nigeria and want to do masters in UK, all na online things. Even babcocks website is one of the worst university websites known to man and last i checked it used a run down theme with 2015 listed at the bottom of the website. No information on research being done, faculty and departmental information and other things all missing. God help us.

I think the current governors of the south east and senators and house of rep members and state house of assembly members alongside traditional rulers of the south east should speak up for ipob and apply pressure so that the south east can leave Nigeria and become biafra. Edo and Delta States were never part of 1967 Biafra. Please update your self.

Edo and Delta were never in the Eastern Region, rather they were in the Western Region and later Mid-West!

The few Igbos in Delta may have sympathy for their brothers across the Niger but rest assured that every other Edolite and Deltan is apathetic to the Biafran/Igbo cause. We have our own struggles and Biafra is not one of them.

You'll never see a picture like this from Warri na. How E wan take happen? Urhobos will never partake. Abi na Itsekiri wey be semi-Yoruba naim go siddon house for Igbo man? Lie lie!

Not just Warri sef o, try Abraka, Ughelli, Sapele, etc. Life is very normal in these places. Who de follow Kanu? Mtchew!

I even have updates from Uyo and everything is going on well and fine here. Just that Igbo traders are at home. That's all!
Thanks for the clarification. We can thus conclude to an extent that the biafran movement is a south east movement. Second challenge is what happens to all the assests of the federal government of Nigeria in the new 2017 biafra ?. From Nigerian police stations to military barracks to federal universities and teaching hospitals among others. Should the federal government just forfeit all these to biafra or will biafra pay Nigeria . How do we solve this problem before we can let the south east go ?

Oga ade , how can you criticise an incomplete work of art ? Criticism is good but she hasn't finished the story. Imagine she released this story as a novel of 170 pages and where she stopped currently is page 70, will you still go ahead with your criticism without reading till page 170 ? Or don't you find it plausible that it's hard for Claire to leave her marriage to the only man she has ever had sex with among other issues. Biko, let her finish than you can criticise.

If you read about the likes of Thomas Sankara and what he achieved in Burkina Faso, you will know change is possible.

I thought buhari was going to be like Nigerias version of Thomas Sankara. I dare say even the late president Yaradua performed better than this Government. It is tragic that things are like this even though we cannot excuse the rubbish government GEJ ran which is also part of the problem.

That being said, i wont be voting for Buhari or Osibanjo or even APC in 2019.

we have been playing in champions league for almost 20 years with only one lost final to show. Players have come and gone, only wenger has remained constant k. If the unbeaten team couldnt win the champions league which was his best team ever, no team under wenger will ever win the champions league. We also played the UEFA cup final in 2000( now known as the europa league) and guess what we lost to Galatassary on penalties. Wenger has lost two european finals and has not won the league in 14 seasons. How he can be given a new contract is beyond me. I am glad the champions league revenue wont come to arsena cos thats why wenger will say nonsense like fourth place is a trophy.

Congrats to Chelsea. Kane is a beast.I think Man Utd should sign him instead of Lukaku.

Lol. By riches ? even ogboni members are very wealthy. Ask the late deinde fernandez. All in All, if the Bishops are not on their way to heaven or they dont make heaven at the end of their journey, they have failed. Making heaven is the ultimate reward . The devil can give riches and a full church and all that. Making heaven is the reward and ensuring as much people as possible follow them to heaven.

How many christians are on the forbes richest people list ? Heaven is the reward for a christian.
Christianity EtcRe: Ten Richest Pastors In Nigeria 2017 And Their Net Worth by Lyoncrescent: 9:03pm On May 20, 2017
Funny thing is i cannot imagine the likes of Paul,Peter,Elijah,Elisha and some of the older soldiers in the bible making this list if they were alive today.

Another funny thing is seeing members of some of these churches using their pastors as a point of contact. For example i have heard in some churches where they say May the God of Adeboye do so so and so for me In Jesus Name. Since Jesus died for us, there is no need to pray through any other name. In the old testament there were many type of gods and Jesus had not come then. So when they ask which GOD, you hear things like God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all that. However, since Jesus paid the sacrifice, you dont need to pray and say the God of Babalola or the God of Oyedepo. Even Oyedepo and Adeboye wont say the God of Paul or God of Peter.

In conclusion all these earthly riches, miracles and other things of vanity can also be given by the devil in 1 million fold. The single thing the devil cannot give as promised in john 3:16 is eternal life. However only GOD in heaven has the list of those that are due for eternal life.

The sad thing is that our security agencies are useless. Forensic evidence and analysis is severely lacking. If the NYPD for example had such a scene in their hands, because of the kind of training they have, the case will at least have some headway.

Our Nigerian police on the other hand have two options. Either torture suspects to get a forced confession or two take some people who are already in police net or recently arrested and parade them as the killers.

Until the police is reformed, there is no hope for Nigeria. That being said , the Nigerian Police still has some gallant officers like Abba Kyari.

I hope the real killers are found and their motive determined. Killing children is just cold.

Now I understand what you are saying. wink You believe our films lack global appeal or acceptance, which other international films have, and that is why such films have succeeded. I have said it before - we still need to improve the technical quality of our movies & films. Our crews need to master the techniques of lighting, better camera angles, editing & sound. Our dialogue can also be better structured to become more profound. We have great actors, as well as mediocre ones. And they too need to master their craft and improve on it. undecided

Apart from these, the international world of film distribution, logistics and marketing is a huge one. Unlike in Nigeria where people act like jack of all trades, each of these areas are highly specialised and capital intensive. How many of our people have been able to break into this market?

We lack adequate cinema infrastructure in our 774 local govt areas, and this hampers film distribution to a large extent. I agree. sad But this is due to a failure of govt policy as well as a lack of will, expertise and funding to execute appropriate projects that would improve the film industry, as a whole. It would take ages for me to delve into this aspect. Maybe Orikinla would be willing to share his experience in this area. cheesy

Content distribution is big business abroad. undecided Any local film producer would first need to get the technical quality right, after incorporating a great storyline, in order to create a truly engaging piece. Then he or she would need to approach international film distribution companies, to syndicate the rights. It takes a whole lot of work and lots of legal briefs, to achieve. Are our producers, directors and film makers ready and able to do all the tasking legwork, in order to get their films on the world stage? sad No matter how fantastic your film is, if it is NOT shown to the right audience in different countries, it would never be viewed in order to achieve global acceptance.

The movie was very good and I would rate it very high. It's not just the story, but the Characters - everybody fits their roles, then the Production is topnotch, I rarely see a nollywood movie with such quality production, it's mostly our music videos that have that. Then talking about global themes, I would say charity begins at home, before you can go global, your people must be in love with your production. I rarely watch nollywood, but I do watch Kunle Afolayan's films and 'the wedding party'. Before Nigerian music began to gain African audience then global audience, Nigerians loved it first, they started playing 50% Nigerian, 50% American music at parties and at homes, now it's almost 100%.indians love their own movies. We already have the uniqueness of the African/Nigerian story which the world would like to see, what's left is quality of acts and productions, so they should just keep up the quality and move away from and 'seven films in a week' films.
if wedding party is shown in cinemas in india, would it blow them away ? Music is a different case. Fela and KSA have been dishing out grooves to westerners for years and Fela toured the USA and europe extensively. It even took Fela Broadway to bring about interest in Fela. All our movie producers here couldnt seal the rights to Felas story and make a movie that would blow the world away . I understand your point but i still think it has to be both ways, our movies must have relevant stories. even if it is just one movie in a whole year that will put us on the global map and get academy awards nominations for best foreign movies, we will go far that way.

First, you would need to define what you mean by a 'global theme,' if you want people to understand where you are coming from. sad There are universal themes like love, grief, betrayal, greed, death, retribution, loss, revenge, trust etc., which run through a lot of films, that have gained worldwide acclaim.

How many Indian films have a global theme? How many Chinese and Korean films have a global theme? huh Each of them still has some kind of local content peculiar to their environment, that makes it different. It is not a minus, but a plus. There is beauty in diversity. We can't all be clones. I have watched a lot of foreign films, and I still see traces of their local themes and indigenous strains running through their plots. These are things that give such films their own peculiar appeal and flavour. undecided

My only grouse with the Wedding Party was that it ran for such a short period on the big screen, at the local cinemas. At Filmhouse iMAX Cinema in Lekki for example, the movie was shown for less than 4 months despite how successful it was. It also ran for short periods at other cinema halls, before the producers released it on DVD. Why the hurry? In other countries, such films will run on the big screen for at least two years! So why was the screening at the cinema halls cut short? shocked Viewers who go to the cinema to watch films do so, because they want to experience the whole ambiance of the entire hall along with other viewers, while watching the movie. The jokes, laughter, interaction, theatrics, sound etc., go a long way in making it a truly enjoyable experience. Cutting short the movie shows on the big screen, was a disservice to a lot of people. sad
Global theme may not be the right choice of words. More like Global Acceptance. For example take 3 idiots ,Kuch Kuch Hota hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

3 Idiots released 2009 had the biggest first week total in US with around $3 million over its first four days

Kuch Kuch Hota hai released 1998 became the first film to cross $5 million mark outside India(money made outside india), and became the highest grosser ever that time

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham was released in 2001 around 125 prints in the overseas markets, grossing a total of $8.9 million at the end of its theatrical run.[3][59] It performed very well in the United Kingdom, with a gross of $689,000 in its opening weekend. It thus debuted at the third position at the British box-office.[60] The total earnings of the film reached over $3.2 million in the UK.[59] The film also had the biggest opening ever for a Bollywood film in North America, with a gross of $1.1 million in 73 screens

My point is that Nigeria lacks the capacity for a movie to make more than 2 million dollars. If you remove lagos, im sure wedding party wont make more than 100 million naira compared to the over 400 million naira. How many of the 774 Local Governments in Nigeria even have cinemas and even if the had, how many would be feasible ?Even the cinema in calabar is struggling. in the prescence of this, releasing movies internationally to international audiecnes is the way to go. Funny enough , the Nigerian population in the UK may have flooded cinemas to eatch wedding party however we also need white british, americans, chinese, koreans, south americans to watch our movies and be blown away like i was blown away when i watched 3 idiots.

I once again agree with the wrong choice of words for Global themes but rather suggest we make quality movies that will have global acceptance unless of course we want to argue every white person is racist and will never what Nigerian movies which is not true
TV/MoviesRe: Still On The Wedding Party by Lyoncrescent: 1:18pm On May 17, 2017
I think the wedding party 2 is being driven by greed. The wedding party 1 was a good movie and humorous thanks to sola sobowales role and ofcourse the yinka aiyefele music part. However, if i have to list the top 50 best nollywood movies of all time, wedding party wouldnt even come close. Its a good movie laced with humour and a breath of fresh air. Thats all there is to it.

Meanwhile, i often pity the mediocrity of nollywood. Our movies lack global themes. I remember the first time i watched 3 idiots, the indian movie i was blown away. Ive watched so many chinese movies and a lot of Nigerians watch Zee world and Telemundo . The million dollar question is why are indians in indians not blown away by our own movies ? Why are our movies not having global apeal to citizens of other countries while their own appeals to us and other gloabl countries. Nollywood hasnt arrived yet and as far as i know, we have to continue to manage with local champion content like okafors law and wedding party.

There are 54 countries in Africa . This shows just 21 countries. That being said, using Nigeria as an example, I am not convinced that any youth can make an impact in this structure. Only very few youths understand the key issues. Some don't know that to be in power you need to do some occultic things. Some don't know that the most corrupt people in Nigeria are the civil servants . Some don't know that based on the existing structure Nigeria is in a hopeless situation. It will take a miracle to salvage Nigeria and if that miracle is going to come from an 18 or 88 year old so be it. But I am 100 percent sure that this APC government till 2023 won't change anything even though I voted for them.

I have to give it to Lagos state. Democracy is good but had it not been tinubu single handedly picked fashola and ambode, only God knows what would have happened. I've said it before. If you know how ikorodu was in 1999 and how ikorodu is now, you will know Lagos has come a long way in a positive direction. The brt corridor from Lagos to cms is the best in Lagos and so many infrastructural investments have been made in ikorodu. I emphasize all this because in so many states in Nigeria, especially the oil producing states, most of the investments occur in their capital . If you go to the ikorodu equivalent of the likes of akwa ibom, delta and bayelsa, there is absolutely nothing there despite the huge allocations and low population and nddc and the likes. God help Nigeria.
