DrBasit:
Many components make up the fuel price. Freight cost, Bridging Fund cost, Marine transport average, Transporters allowance, Administration charges etc. With Dangote Refinery in Lagos, some of them will be eliminated and will drive the fuel price downward although may be not significantly.
One private refinery cannot service 36 states ooo
Please be realistic
Also dangote is not running charity
If anything you will purchase pms at the same or higher rate
With a lower population we had four refineries
Texas alone has over 50 private refineries

Lol

I know you're pained because of this latest development, but you need to calm yourself down

Nobody is bigger than the Nigerian State

Don't forget this is how some of you said ASUU won't listen to the Court, I won't be shock if you're one of the people who waa saying ASUU won't listen to the Court. The Government will just proscribe the NLC If they disobey the Court order and only TUC will be recognize.

The Strike can't happen again because it will take at least 2 years before this case end up at the Supreme Court

By then, Dangote Refinery will be working, minimum wages would have been increase and other palliatives would have been introduce and people would have move on and forget about this little hardship

Majority Of Nigerians have choosen to suffer Today and Enjoy Tomorrow

How much be local rice,, how much be foreign rice?

Some China slippers even cost lesser than naija made slippers...

Cost of production varies in every country...
In Nigeria cost of production includes sum total of all u spend before getting ur product,
From bribing officials, paying tax to communities, local govt, state govt and fed govt,. Other sundry charges and security Levy both to state, local and fed govt plus hiring police and army for protection plus wages to workers both real n ghost staffs...

So it cost more to do business in Nigeria than in any other country
You get time to explain 😄

You were paying N170 because it was subsidized. With Dangote refinery, Nigerians won’t buy fuel less than N600. Let’s keep watching as drama unfolds.

Politics › Re: How Much Is A Litre Of Fuel In Your Area. by LZAA: 6:30am On May 30, 2023
Nazgul:
During fuel importation we were buying fuel at most N170 per liter. Now that fuel is refined here in Nigeria, are you expecting us to pay above N300 per liter for it?

And it has nothing to do with his loans...
I don't know how to tell you this as someone has tried to explain to you but lemme try
To maintain a refinery you need a lot and i mean a lot of finance
Now if dangote heck even other PRIVATE refineries follow your logic they will go out of business at the speed of light
They can never sell fuel lower than 400p/l because they have operating costs to service

Op, you made a valid point but it's not people fault because no enabling environment to try new things. We copied everything from classwork to final year project thesis, and copying is not only done at lower level of education, even at higher level. The country economy situation is not helping any ambitious individual. I believe copies of Dangote refinery will soon be and everyone will benefit from it. Copying is a cultural thing in Nigeria, if you don't copy you may be left behind, so copy anything copable. There was a time a student was copying in an exam but mistakenly copy the other person names. grin
Private refineries everywhere grin grin grin
Except you want what is shut down in the South South monthly nobody is going down that dangote route anytime soon

Don't blame them. Nigeria isn't working so once people see any business that gives money, everyone would dive into it and over saturate it.

Look at POS... around 2016, you can rent a shop and run POS and make reasonable money. In fact you could live comfortably with POS business. Today, you'll find over 20 POS operators on a single street. So if you're planning on going into it, just be prepared cos whatever you make from it obviously wouldn't be able sustain you.

Look at Uber/Bolt. I know someone who is in Canada today courtesy of Uber. He started out as an Uber driver as far back as 2017. Today because there are no jobs, more and more guys (and even ladies) are going into uber. This had made Uber become over saturated . And if their drivers are honest with you, they'll admit that it's not as lucrative as it used to be.

Same with provision shop, you can find more than 20 on one street all selling the same thing. How on Earth would they make profit?

Is it korokpe or danfo bus...that one is worse, there are some routes you'll ply, when you reach and park, before it reaches your turn to load again, it might take up to an hour because there are lots and lots of other buses ahead of you.

In the late 90s and early 2000s, one of the fastest way to make money as someone who wasn't fortunate to attain university education was to do hire purchase. Find someone who would give you a bus, and within a year, you've paid him back and you have the bus all to yourself.

Today, bad economy and inflation has made it impossible for these guys to deliver, so even though they're in possession of the vehicle, they would find it very difficult meeting their daily target.

It's not that these businesses aren't lucrative, they are but because there are so many competitors, profit becomes very slim. This is why so many of them aren't making it.

If the country is working, people wouldn't be eager to do any kind of business, this means that businesses wouldn't be over saturated, so those doing it would easily prosper.

I think one of the reason the capital was moved from Lagos to Abuja,is administrative convenience,so that those that would subscribe to the bustling life wouldn't be hindered by administrative mantra. Also wherever there is too much of social activities, the more Herculean it will be for Security men to contain Crime. Rich men don't like to raise eyebrow, they believe social activities are centerd around. Imagine Washington DC becoming New York,it will interest you to know that many don't even know that, that is the Capital of USA. So making Abuja akin to Lagos would forfeit the reason for citing the capital there.
