Christianity Etc › Re: Ogbanje/abiku by macof(m): 2:08pm On Sep 27, 2014
Personally I don't believe Ogbanje/Abiku spirits.
While there is a sort of consciousness in everything, a spirit for everything. I think the case of the children of the same parent dying before marriageable age is due to some health issues not supernatural evil spirits haunting the family

I have no reasons to take the Ogbanje spirits hypothesis seriously because in all ogbanje issues, the death is preceeded by illness

In another light they are caused by evil spirits as spirits control the unseen but instead of dwelling on the spirit part there's also a medical approach some ancients failed to understand

dexmundo: women quickly looking for a way to justify their guilty conscience since they are totally unwilling to repent. LISTEN TO THIS who are the egyptians? Are they not idol worshippers and founders of horoscopy? Thank God this article also mentioned they are idol worshippers. Since the days of adam, the world has been occupied by two set of people - God's people and Secular people. If a secular idol worshipping egyptian used brazillian that doesnt mean a God fearing Israelite used hair extensions too. We need archeological record from israel to prove that God's people used hair extensions too.

koyyes: Again i ask, what right do you have to question or dictate how a woman dresses her hair? Only a boy with the lowest self esteem and self confidence will be this shallow to poke holes at the most insignificant and trivial issues. Was it not with their wooly hair that your ancestors were chained and draged to work as slaves? abi you wan follow them wear the wig/weavon nihuh? you must be a paind frustrated faaaaaggot!
with the bold you have just made ur intentions and ideas known

You have a very big case of inferiority complex
Secondly how do u know his ancestors were slaves? Have u met them in spiritgrin

The OP is an ignorant buffoon. This is the nonsense we get from education in Nigeria

Mary slessor helped expose the people of calabar to understand that twins aren't evil means she stopped ithuh Wats worse is that calabar is now the entire Nigeriahuh

There's no such thing @OP

A man's identity is his tribe/ethnicity which doesn't always translate to nationality
Culture › Re: Does Your Family Practice This Tradition? by macof(m): 3:15am On Sep 27, 2014
Even if it exists in some nairalander's family culture
Many Nigerians today know nothing of their history and ancestry, they are lost so don't expect to see people who know or have heard of this in their family not because it doesn't exist but because they are lost

Fulaman198: Of course I can speak the Fulani language (Fulfulde). What kind of Fulani man would I be if I did such a dishonour to my people in such a negative light.

Fulani women are not white. Yes, there are light-complexioned Fulani women, but there are dark complexioned Fulani women as well. Yes, our women are beautiful but we are black not white. A light Fulani (Pullo daneejo) is equal to a dark Fulani (Pullo baleejo).
it wasn't until recently that I found out fulani are also dark skinned
I had to google for that grin I always thought because those fine fulani I know are light all of them are too
Now I've met two dark fulani - one man, one woman

PAGAN9JA: If you want to find out which tribes come under the same ethnic group, see the language they speak and the Gods they worship.

Apa , Jukun come under the same ethnicity for example.
True, language and spirituality is one strong binding factor

I believe if these separate tribes with such unrealized/forgotten bonds in Nigeria could come together under one name, it would be best for them

walex2bad: Because we xtians are not after material things, we have a reward greater than what the earth can offer. That is what our heart is fixed on. What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world but loose his soul. We should be more focused about our eternal destination than the temporary euphoria life enbodies..#
In other words, you live a miserable life and your god made it so

Nowenuse: Well, as to what i can tell u about the ethnic groups i listed in Plateau state above......i can tell u that no 2 of those ethnic groups u see have the same language....instead almost all d ethnic groups have their own distinct dialects amongst them.
However, some of these groups are related with each other and can understand each other's languages to an extent, but i dont think any of these groups can understand each other's dialects up to 50% except for probably the Mupun- Mwaghavul- Mushere and probably the Buji -jere.
The mupun, mwaghavul and mushere i believe may be able to understand each other's dialects probably up to 40-70%, likewise the Buji and Jere......the Lemoro and kurama i cant really say how much they may understand each other's languages, but i know they are very much linguistically related.
Culturally many of us share some aspectsof tradition amd culture probably due to common origins or longtime being neighbours. But we have all been classified different from each other right from time.
U can see the numb 9 tribe on the list the Kofyar or Pan people as they are called.....they are divided into 4 subgroups, and each of these subgroups sometimes claim a distinct identity, but in the real sense they are one ppl and that is why u see i classified all of them (the Kwagallak or kwolla, Myernyang, Jipal and Doemak) as one ppl and not seperately.
Thank you.

If this is the case, I was right to state that many tribes and sub-tribes are going around referring to themselves as ethnic group

Ekiti - "In Okun o"
Or "Era"..."era aba" for elderly men

While we also use the popular standard Yoruba dialect of "Eku" prefix added with the person's activity eg. Eku'se - welldone, Eku'inawo - happy spending

boneruns: I don't think this picture was gotten when Sanusi became a king. Probably when he was still a CBN Governor.

An Emir has a special regalia he wears. This can't be true.
Keep deceiving urself. It's on the Facebook fan page of Oba Adeyemi, the page doesn't spread rumours it follows the Oba's every move

aderonila18: It's normal that he'll bow for him, the Oba is older than him and he's respecting the Yoruba culture. Although I don't think he would have greeted him that way if he was wearing his full regalia because that may be against it for example a Yoruba Oba with his crown on mustn't bow for another person. So I guess because he's dresses normally
You make sense

It is evident that you have comprehension problems.

I never justify anything by religion, heck my posts here have been to teach people not to judge with their religion

Nowenuse: An exhaustive list of Middlebelt tribes will just be very difficult to compile....but i think some googling on it will help u.
in my state Plateau alone we have not less than 50 distinct ethnic groups....not to talk of places like Southern Kaduna with about 55, Taraba with about 64, Nassarawa with about 30 e.t.c....it will really take much time to do that..
But let me at least give u some from my own Plateau state which am very conversent with to help u in your compilation. In plateau we have....

Tarok
Mwaghavul
Goemai
Ngas
Berom
Pyem
Afizere
Ron-Kulere
Kofyar (Kwagallak, Myernyang, Jipal and Doemak)
Mupun
Miship
Kadung
Anaguta
Rukuba
Irigwe
Mushere
Kadung
Mundat
Tal
Bogghom
Jhar
Lemoro
Kurama
Fyer
Aten
Yuom
Jukun Kona
Yangkam
Tambes
Chokobo
Anafejanji
Buji
Duguza
Jere
Pyapung

i think this is where i can stop....there are others
Wow! Pls how culturally assimilated are these tribes(or ethnic groups)??
How close do they see themselves? how much cultural affiliation exists between them?

reasons for these questions is because I believe Nigerian politics creates this sort of breech between some tribes of the same ethnicity driving them to considered themselves different ethnic groups

soonest: I can tell u categorically that ur stand for polygamy is because of ur religion and dats why u r here nitpicking on those with contrary view.So people can't argue again? A contrary opinion is now judgemental. We can as well be zombies now.
Go read TV and Yeyenatu's comments. Those were good argument. But of course u will interprete it as judgemental.
I have no religion. My stand for polygamy is most certainly due to my lack of religion

Open a thread in the religious section and I will tell you which paragraphs should be replaced in the Quran so that people stop justifying terror and pedophilia in the name of religion. wink This is a problem that concerns everyone unlike whether Christianity approves of polygamy or not.

soonest: Insecurity at its peak! Why don't you use ur religion to make a strong argument for polygamy the way ur lot have been doing. Or you didn't see those ones? Well your behaviour is typical so I aint surprised. Every view must be in corcodance with polygamy, right?because you are involved? Go ahead and argue religion if it makes you feel better.
Sorry I don't do religion.

And even if I was, my problem wit some people on this thread is using their religion to judge, why would I be a hypocrite by doing the same thing am against?? When am nt a Christian that feeds on hypocrisy grin

cool. Now let's examine this

Her dad is from a polygamous family, if nothing good comes out of polygamy can we say good people come out of it?
If yes, then how does bad things make good people?
