EMILO2STAY: present reasonable facts that makes sense to convince instead of raining insults. He presented some scientific fact that makes him doubt evolution. Rebut that instead of ranting.

science has not explained zilch about the origin of life on earth. They also depend on wishful thinking and ridiculouse assumtions. Funny how u say evolutions is a hundred and fifty years old, The ancients knew about the solar system and the planets for thousands of year before modern science yet are still religeous and believed in creationism.
The ancients were not necessarily religious, religion was made out of their work by the ignorant but the ones with the brains weren't doing religion, these were the ones searching and trying to understand the universe

You believe in supernatural? grin santa is the king of the supernaturals grin
Christianity Etc › Re: Creation Vs. Evolution by macof(m): 12:49am On Sep 09, 2014
EMILO2STAY: dont start sounding like a kid. super natural is simply beyond natural i.e metaphysics, somthing u cant explain scientificaly or using logic. A being with supernatural power can make a donkey talk.
Metaphysics has been explained severally using available scientific knowledge and logic, it is science itself like quantum physics.. many forms of metaphysical techniques are psychological, and others including illusions, in general it is energy manipulation of any sort.
All is still very much in the context of Nature.

However metaphysics never takes the default biological mechanism of a donkey into that of a man. a donkey is a donkey, a man is a man.and speech as a result of our vocal cords is a biological attribute

GeneralShepherd: Non living things cannot react on their own volition or in response to stimuli. So I don't agree non-living things react nor do I agree that they are aware
What's this one sayinghuh Why are you generalizing? Humans aren't the only things on this planet you know.
Reaction is an action in response, the key there is "action" and "response". You don't respond out of your volition to stimuli, it comes at you and you act in response. Its like responding to pain, touch, temperature etc
Whether physiologically or psychologically, a reaction is only in response to an earlier action, it is never out of volition, the only volition here is how far we choose to react (in very few cases) which in fact takes another action in response, a counter reaction, it still points to the same logic.
if you are not acting in response that's not reaction but merely action.

rocks react to temperature, because they don't sweat don't mean they don't react.
We are all engineered differently

so jst to make sure.. you deny that rocks react with temperature and pressure?

mazaje: What do you mean by awareness?. . .You refuse to define what you mean by awareness. . .Define what you mean by awareness first. . .If I use a stone to forcefully hit another stone and make it move, a reaction has taken place does that mean the two stones are aware of each other?. . If yes then how so?. . .
Why not answer my question and not this question for an answer thing you doing

Does reaction occur in the absence of awareness??

TheBigUrban2: Wow....Anony's dubious logic has rubbed off on you!!! grin

You interchange two different definitions of "react" to cause confusion

1)A tree turns to ashes when you burn it
2) A tree bends to sunlight

1) and 2) are very different reactions.

A tree eating an insect is very different from a stone breaking apart due to erosion.

I'll leave you to your falsehood......
Nobody is rubbed off on me. It's a very simple analogy...my question is supposed to make you think

Now pls answer can something react to wat it isn't aware of?

a dead plant or a growing plant...can it react to something if it isn't aware of it?
Can you react to something when you are not aware of it?

It's not your place to declare it falsehood, why you making conclusions to a matter still in debate even your master scientist still debate it

2prexios: It depends on your inclinations, its either Orisala or Orunmila, Obarisa is 'king of the chosen' and both were kings in their epoch. They weren't cotemporaries. 'Odu' means 'blacky', and 'Esu' means 'darkish'. You can verify this linguistically if you are keen at it.
well no where have I heard Orunmila being called obarisha and am sure of it
in my opinion Obatala isn't even obarisha but Olorun.
But then since you talking history not spirituality, The obarisha theme doesn't apply....king of the chosen, or King of the selected consciousness, also king of the spirits(Gods) is strictly spirituality

As Odu Ogunda stated that While Obatala was chosen by Olodumare to led the Imole to build the structures of earth, it was Ogun that came first

Odu also means womb, what 21st century Yoruba language would say Inu, it was Odu in the past. But I agree in all cases odu has been related to black
Esu does relate to black also, more like Dark, he darkens. But then short ancient Yoruba words like this aren't always as it seems, it could be a merging of a longer word

mazaje: So if I carry a stone and forcefully use it to push another stone (a reaction occurs) that means both stones are aware of each other?. . . What do you mean when you say a stone is aware? . . Does a stone know that it is different from the pool of water beside it? When a wave of water forcefully cut some part of a stone does that mean the stone is aware of the water?
Answer me pls can there be a reaction without awareness??

Bare in mind that you are not a stone, you don't know what being a stone is like so you can only be sure they are aware of what they react to...that is if you agree there's no reaction without awareness
We don't know the full scope of a stone's awareness it doesn't talk we only know it reacts...but the question is does it react out of awareness or does reaction just happen out of nothing??

Sanchez01: Funny, the fact still stands that putting up arguments, particularly when a party has made up its mind to be blind to the truth makes no sense. I am not irritated, just surprised at the fact that she claimed her everything is in our hands when I honestly have no clue. And about your dissonance, well, you alone are in on your theory. I have always sought to explain things constructively, but not with you guys. I always sense this aura of anger flowing through your posts and it's quite surprising that the likes of you who claim to believe in nothing are from sound Christian homes with vast knowledge of the scriptures. It is not in my place to convince you, since I seek no intention of winning.
You claim you know the truth...what is it that makes you hold on to that which the original owners say is a lie?

GeneralShepherd: I have edited my last post. Your question does not follow, please whats your point?
I saw ur edited post.

The question follows actually, because you define living as "Movement, respiration, nutrition (feeding),
irritability, growth,excretion, reproduction
and death."

And consciousness as "the state of being aware"

So now do you agree that non-living things react?
If yes do you think there can be reaction without awareness??

2prexios: Orunmila (Obarisha), Ela (aka Ifa, Agbonmregun), and Odu (aka Esu)
Orunmila is not Obarisha, Obatala is

But am intrigued with this your idea of Odu being Esu...where did u come about this?
Culture › Re: Olokun by macof(m): 2:39pm On Sep 08, 2014
2prexios: tpia is right, Olokun is a male character.

Olokun in that piece was a man, and going by the mood of what the verse was saying, omoba is a prince, not princess. It also says bi a ko ba ba Oba gbe, that is, if we do not live in the court of a king, Abe Oba kii pani lori, the blade of the king wont chop off our head. Then it alert the listener, iwo naa sure lo aarin igbe o too dako, meaning you too must flee to the middle of the bush to start farming.

The precept is not feminine in nature. Meanwhile, the woman that is often spotted with Olokun was a disciple of Olokun, Odu, because she was also an Ifa exponent at the onset of time..
What ese Ifa did u get that from about Olokun?
Btw omoba could refer to princess

I noticed you not talking spirituality but history.
Let's examine this points in Yoruba history.
Olokun is said to Olofin's wife in Odu Osa Meji, Olofin here often misinterpreted in,Santeria as Olorun, But in fact it is Oduduwa.
Olokun, a wealthy bead maker didn't have children, so Oduduwa married Osara whom gave birth to oduduwa's heir.

The link between Olokun and Orunmila(Agboniregun) is probably when she ran to The ocean near Epe, modern Lagos (probably her hometown) Orunmila found her and offered her sacrifice to be happy and return

tho I haven't got expert Translation to it, I would say "Ifa olokun asorodayo" relates to Ifa's speech to olokun turned to Joy
Back then anything and everything can be called sacrifice even words.

Empiree: The Jinn are beings created with free will, living on earth in a world parallel to that of man and are invincible to human eyes in their normal state. The Arabic word for Jinn comes from the verb "Janna" which means to hide. Consequently, the embryo hidden in the womb is called a Janeen and the heart hidden in the chest is called Janaan.

The term Jinnee (Eng. Genie) is equivalent to Jinn and Jaann may be used as its plural or as another singular form. In Islamic literature Shaytan (Eng. Satan, devil) is a name given to disbelieving Jinns. They are created from fire according to Allah's statement in the Qur'an: "The Jinns were created from the fire of a scorching wind." (Surah Al-Hijr 15:27). They are not "fallen angels", as Angels are made from light according to following statement of Prophet Muhammad(saw) narrated by his wife Aisha(ra): "The Angels were created from light and the Jinn from a fiery wind" (Sahih Muslim vol 4 P. 1540, no 7134) and angels cannot disobey God according to Allah's statement in the Qur'an,

"....angels stern and severe, who do not disobey Allah in what He orders them, but do whatever they are commanded." Surah At-Tahreem 66:6)
So jinns are younger than the classical element of fire?
Wow!

Anyway jst kindly show us equivalent of these jinns outside Islam
If it can't be compared with other non-Islamic concepts I can't take it seriously

enigmaotr: You can not blame God for giving us free will. We are not brutes, we know the right from wrong. What you do with your knowledge of the good and the evil is up to you. God didn't start the crisis going on in Ukraine, so he should not be held responsible for it's outcomes. The Pilot had a choice of taking another route, but instead chose to fly through a no-fly zone. Is it God? Eversince God endowed humans with free-will, our actions or otherwise, determines much of what goes on in this world, not God. However, everyone is responsible for his/her actions and will definitely give account.
Oh really? So God just creates and runs away from his responsibility? Such a God

• Zionism is a political movement to establish a

Christianity Etc › Re: If Jews Reject Jesus, Why Should An African Accept Jesus? by macof(m): 12:41pm On Sep 08, 2014
mstik: Errm, First of all, let me point out that Christianity is not a thing of race or ethnicity
Jesus came to die for the whole of mankind, and anyone who accepts him, irrespective of race, will be saved
However, salvation primarily was for the Jews. Unfortunately for them, He was not accepted. They never expected the messiah to be of a lowly birth, to be an ordinary carpenter. They were expecting the messiah to arrive with pomp and pageantry, and destroy their oppressors, the Romans.

Now back to your question. Why should Africans accept Him?
Nobody is compelled to be a Christian, It's a person decision that is made. Whether its an Asian, African, or American, Christianity is not just another 'concept' or 'doctrine' that people are being forced to swallow.
I believe that when someone discovers the truth, they happily accept and hold on to it.
Christianity is not another western concept that you're making it to seem
You know absolutely nothing about the Jewish society and what they expect from the Messiah.

Christianity is western, it's a Western created religion. this Jesus u talk of isn't even known by Jews.
Otherwise where outside the Roman authored books(some of which made the new testament) is he talked about??

You are confused by the mami wata myths.
This is not a cause for argument. These are symbolic representations so where some identify the spirit of the oceans as female some may see it as male.

Christianity Etc › Re: When We Die! by macof(m): 12:09pm On Sep 08, 2014
TheBigUrban2: Consciousness is a state of awareness.

Being conscious is far more than reacting to stimuli. Being self aware requires voluntary actions. A freshly dead body can react to stimuli eg, a snake head biting a finger put in the mouth even after the body has been severed.

A stone isnt self aware. A tree is. They bend to sunlight and some even eat insects.
And to you reaction is not as a result of awareness??
Don't stones react to external bodies??

Doesn't our planet react to sunlight, doesn't water react to earthquakes, dropping stones etc
