RoyalRoy: Just check out the regalia and swags of Oba Adeyemi With his pretty queen.!!!

And then some ignorant few will claim Ooni of Ife is the greater of the two kings.

Is it not obvious the Alaafin is pushing more of the Yoruba culture and tradition all over the globe than the Ooni?

He has the flair and charisma that portrays a true royal king of the yorubas. Never mincing words, always real and factual.

I believe he is one of the very few revered and articulate kings left in Yoruba land. If not the greatest of this generation.

May he never stumble. Amen.
Where Oba Sijuwade has not been impressive as Ooni, the Ooni title is first in Ile-Oodua. Am personally disappointed at this current Ooni

Alaafin Oba Adeyemi has been much better as an Oba.

chrisviral: Hahahaha you make me laugh, it's all the same thing. And God created Man in his own image, he passed his trait to man, a consciousness of both good and evil, just God has the choice to kill Devil but he choosed not to because of a divine purpose, so also is me and you, with a choice not to patronise NairaLand but we choose to, Why? To fulfill the purpose of this thread! It is because you want to convince me, that is why your still posting me, so also the devil and hell was created by God because both are still fulfilling their purpose.
Actually am nt trying to convince u of wat ur consciousness level doesn't permit. However there are many who would gain a thing a or two from discussions like this.

now to address ur post:
There's no such thing as "consciousness of good and evil from God to man"
Our human/individual essence decides wat is good for us, and rejects the others
Although the essence is from our creator, not all creations have the same essence

That is why animals have no problem eating flesh straight up while humans need to cook

A man that eats meat raw like an animal has lost his human essence(otherwise; humanity)
A man who can't feel love, joy, pain, loss and other basic emotions has lost that human essence too, is as more stone than human

So No, humans don't have the traits of the creator, we aren't the only creations so why concentrate on humans when the spirit(of God) is in everything.

chrisviral: God does feel anger and happiness!
He was angry with Man, thus he repented why he created Man, he was happy with David's sacrifice, thus he stopped his wrath (angel of death) from finishing Isreal, he was happy with Solomon's sacrifice, thus he he him wisdom, God has emotions dear! He is no robot.

Their is not always an equal reward for every good or evil, God said, " I will have mercy on whom I will have Mercy" some sinners go unpurnished and some don't.

One thing I have leant is that, A fully comprehensible God is no God at all.
God is still God because No one man can fully understand God, he is inexhaustible!
maybe I should stop using the word "God" being that Gods don't really exist.

The consciousness of the universe doesn't have emotions, isn't good or evil but balanced. All that is, is a body of consciousness that revolves all around the universe
When humans act it has a parallel effect on the fabric of existence, in order to maintain that balance an equal reward is delivered on the individual, thats Karma
There's nothing that concerns emotions here, it's just the nature of the universe

Billyonaire: In absolute truism, there is no good and evil. Everything works towards singularity. Think about earthquake, for victims of the cataclysmic natural tectonic re-alignment it is evil, but within the cosmic creativity, its core goal is the alignment of the san adreas fault, a sequence that can only make the planet better.

So in essence, Cosmic Infinity codenamed God by religion is neutrality. Both good and bad is of same source. That source is what you call God....2 sides of the same coin.

Who told you that spirits are not living? They are not emotional? Have you been a spirit before? God created man in his likeness- we talk, think, be happy and sad, and you are here telling me that the one who created us that way is not emotional? You are not just serious. Even man carry the spirit being within us.
God created everything yes, but before creation God was not a "creator"
Creator became a characteristic, infact became it's identity, the moment creation was underway.

So telling me God has been unchangeable with all characteristics before creation is false.

I have had my personal experience with the spirit world, my knowledge is based on my search and experience

alexleo: Again you are just describing what you think a spirit is in your own little understanding. You are not a spirit so your answers are not authentic. I believe God more who says he is a spirit and says he loves us(we experience his love everyday), he is a God of wrath(we see his wrath taking place), he is a merciful God(we experience his mercy everyday) etc. Of course nobody can overthrow God though Satan attempted it, yet he failed.
How can a spirit attempt to take over a duty that's not it's nature??

This is like saying Rocks want to take over from rainwater and start falling from the sky during storms.

Every spirit has it's nature, no spirit can attempt taking over another spirit.

The mere fact that most of your homes are polygamous made your families more guilty than those of igbos.
Bad blood exists in your nuclear families not to talk of extended ones.
An Igbo man always boasts of a nuclear family and will carry his family around as he changes location. The strong sense of commitment is there.
The Yoruba man? where will he start from?
The igbos use the extended family system for settlement of disputes, marriage talks, kindred meetings irrespective of location in Nigeria, etc; the yorubas don't .
Competition is not bad blood
Oh believe me. I have Igbo extended relatives, in-laws and friends.
A typical Igbo extended family is not united at least not compared to a Yoruba family, where people would still come together to celebrate a common ancestor(we do this in my family)

Op lemme add

1. Igboland is not oil rich, an Igbo gathering would never discuss "how to share our oil rich land". but yes they would discuss sharing of Land and resources.

2. The typical Yoruba mind is not as mathematical and technical as Igbo, Yoruba are more philosophical and psychological minded, never acting too quick but processing thoughts relating to general matters of life.

3. Yoruba women have more endowment of the body, sexy so to say but Igbo are prettier in general

4. Yoruba families stand more united, Igbo families are full of envy and bad blood.

5. Yoruba ladies more conscious about their appearance, with use of jewelery and beauty products not to forget the hair

Christianity Etc › Re: How Good Is God? by macof(m): 6:31pm On Aug 23, 2014
alexleo: The conseequence boils down to the same thing we have been discoursing here- God's wrath.

Wrath is his attributes which he doesn't have control over to change. These attributes are eternal. He didn't develop them as a result of his creation rather those attributes were there before creation and it is a combination of these eternal attributes that make him GOD.

Genesis 1:1 says- " in the beginning GOD created the heavens and the earth etc. Which means he was already a God before creating. It wasn't creation that made him God. In this regard, those attributes that made him God had already been there before creation and he cannot change those attributes because of creation.

The best he has done (which is what he can do) is to make a way out so that people will escape this other side of him(eternal wrath). If God had the power to wipe out his attributes he wouldn't have bothered sacrificing Jesus. He would ve expunged that attribute(wrath) from him. But bros, he can't even do it. Malachi 3:6 says I am God, I change not (these is part of the things that constitue his being as a God-unchangeable nature). If he changes his nature he is no more God.

You see how selfish human can reason? We want God to change for us rather than us changing for him. Can you imagine the clay trying to mould the potter? Not possible bro. Its the potter that moulds the clay.
Firstly:
The potter is not a potter until he begins to mould clay.

God is not a creator until he began to create

Secondly: Wrath is an emotion, God is a spirit, spirits don't have emotions.
Emotions are attributes of living organisms to strive and gain higher consciousness

How do you expect anyone to see any good in Nigeria when we are so backward. Can you blame me? I interprete data as it is and from what i know with Nigerias population man power and arable land and oil reserves we are doing a mediocre job. Although our Gdp grows at 8% per annum that is still very slow in comparison to what we is obainable look at the growth of malaysia they received independence around the same time as us. Look at the Singaporean and south Korean economic and technological revolution. Interpret things as they are and not as you wish them to be .Nigeria will get there but not by telling children oduduwa created the earth with a chicken but by proper education.Just to clarify what exactly is african education?

Christianity Etc › Osun Osogbo Festival Holds Despite Ebola Scare by macof(op): 3:34pm On Aug 23, 2014
Amidst call by the Medical and Dental
Consultants’ Association of Nigeria
(MDCAN), Ladoke Akintola University of
Technology Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) chapter, Osogbo, for the postponement of this year’s Osun Osogbo festival, with a view to averting the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) to the state, organisers of the event, on Thursday, insisted that it would hold which it did yesterday.

It will be recalled that MDCAN, had on Wednesday, in a press statement implored the state government to postpone the annual celebration of Osun Osogbo festival so that convergence of crowd, which usually
characterised the event would not aid the spread of the contagious disease.
The group had raised the alarm that allowing the festival to hold may predispose the state to EVD as the nation was still battling to control its spread.

However, while addressing a press
conference on Thursday in Osogbo, the Chief Festival Consultant to the organisers of Osun Osogbo, Mr Ayo Olumoko, said the call for shift of the event was unnecessary, contending that “Ebola scare cannot stop this year’s festival under any circumstance.”
According to him, since both Muslim and Christian gatherings have not been stopped because of the rampaging Ebola disease, there was no justification for the postponement of Osun Osogbo festival.
“The federal government cannot cancel or put Osun Osogbo festival on hold because of the issue of Ebola. President Goodluck Jonathan was here a few days ago to campaign for the candidate of Peoples’ Democratic Party and the Osogbo City Stadium was full of people, without
anyone talking about the spread of Ebola.
Similarly, the state governor who was the
candidate of All Progress Congress had his own campaign at the same Osogbo City Stadium and they were not considering
the spread of Ebola there, despite the massive crowd that attended the rally” he added.

Yesterday, Araba of Osogbo, Ifayemi Elebuibon also added that, "if anyone was suffering from Ebola, he can wash with the waters of Osun and be healed".

Many devotees expressed complete faith and assurance in the protective and healing powers of Osun not only for the day but throughout the whole year

Osun Osogbo annual international festival is a celebration of culture, spirituality and fulfillment of the pledge between a people and a goddess. It underscores a long history that revolves around the early settlers of the town, Osogbo, who came very close to the river as a result of drought from their initial place of dwelling at Ipole-Omu where they had 7 previous rulers; hence they decided to settle in the thick forest.

The great hunter, Olutimehin, who was hunting had initially found a steam called Okrokro, which he traced its source to River Osun ( part of present day Osogbo ). Olutimilehin went back to his community and informed the King(then a Baale), Larooye Gbadewolu of his findings. The king and his subjects later moved to
settle at the flood plain and built his first
palace later Known as Ile - Osun.

Overtime Larooye and his subjects engaged themselves in farming activities in their new found land. One day as they were clearing the bush for cultivation they accidentally fell
a tree, damaging the balance of the spirit world.
Laroye offered sacrifice for settling at the river bank. However, the goddess
asked them to move to a new ground. She also pledged to protect them, provide water for them and make their women fertile in return for an offer of sacrifice annually.
Laroye built his new palace known as Idi-Osun while Olutimehin built a shrine to his Patron deity Ogun.

Osun Osogbo stands tall as one of the internationally celebrated festivals in the world. It is highly venerated and most attended. One interesting attribute of the festival is that it brings devotees of Osun from all over the world together annually, from Cuba to Brazil, United States of America to Jamaica, Canada to Spain, they come together to pay homage to the Goddess, who is the source of life

It is indeed not only about merry making, but about social bond, culture and history. It has also established the fact that this
event, if properly managed and developed, is a big source of revenue for the state.
