All you muslims saying Jesus was a messenger of Allah is a big lie or big error by Mohammed.

Israel doesn't serve Allah(moon god of arabia) they serve Yahweh(mountain god of canaanland).

Jesus knows no Allah

iamdsam: All languages in Nigeria would go extinct. It's just that some would take more time to go extinct e.g Ibo, Yoruba and Hausa. My language Urhobo is already going on extinction. Most of my fellow youths who are Urhobo don't know how to speak Urhobo and they hate to here someone speaking it and also laugh at the person most times saying the person is a ''village master''. Most of our parents don't teach their children the local dialect by speaking it at home. They either speak English or Pidgin to their wards. Inter ethnic marriages ain't also helping matters. Couples from two different ethnic groups with different languages must communicate in a language both understand and that they'll also teach their wards. Languages going into extinction in Nigeria is inevitable. But would this bound Nigeria the more? I think so. Do you think so?
1. My daughters ain't marrying any non-Yoruba

2. I'll do anything to preserve the language I was born with

3. My kids shall not only speak but shall write perfect Yoruba language

Nimen: The truth be say... All these countries adopted a language (one of their languages) to be their chief Language... Portugal- Portuguese, Chinese - Mandarin, UK - English, US - English, Germany - German. So which Nigerian Language should we use and dump others? I wouldn't want my language to be dumped so do you, so let's co-exist for now and try hard to preserve our language till they go extinct or evolve, cos' all of them will certainly go extinct or evolve
As long as Nigeria remains, all these languages are in danger.

But imagine Igbo and possibly calabar in one country. The two languages would fuse words together over time, Its much easier to preserve the languages and get more internationally recognized.

chukwudi44: The dangers of private listing of scriptures can never be over emphasized!! Marcion was the first person to create a canon in christiandom when he in the second century created is own canon excluding the entire books of the OT,other apostolic writings besides that of paul and edited the gospel of luke to create his own Gospel of marcion. He was subsequently excommunicated by the catholic church for his heretic beleifs.

Other Catholic church fathers like Origen,Athanasius etc later tried to list out books they think should constitute the canon.it is noteworthy to observe that these private lists were contradicting themselves and could not really agree on the canon. This individual canons are not in use by any church in existence today

A church council was subsequently called in hippo to decide the books of the bible in 393CE.it was here that the 73 books of the catholic bible were firtst selected. This decisions were later ratified by the councils of carthage 397CE and 419CE and the council of trent in 1546.This four church councils agreed amongst themselves while private listing of scriptures by differant people contradicted themselves. We can not allow people ro start chosing scriptures as that would amount to anarchy.

The same canon produced @ hippo and carthage in the fourt and fifth centuries is exactly what was adopted @ trent in 1546.

Origen canon see link here

harbiola1: Clap for urself! and what lessons am i suppose to learn from this? I'll only appreciate ur effort if u can post the history of Olodumare. those dudes were human beings like myself only with different generation.
Allah has also been personified, all gods/nature forces have been personified to boost understanding, however where there's understanding for many, people like u get confusion.

Esu would release u from confusion soon, just open up to him.

History of Olodumare is beyond any man or Orisha. Olodumare is the ultimate force of all energy. He is the source of energy, he is pure energy.

If u know science, energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only change from one form to another. His conscious change in form birthed Awon Orisa

Lightning and thunder is caused by the conscious movements of Sango

tornado and storms are caused by the conscious movements of Oya

Flooding are done by the conscious movements of Olokun or Yemoja

Fire outbreak is Sango

Anything iron is Ogun

All these are elements of nature and aspects of universal living which Olodumare has created the Orisha to control.

Olodumare is the essence of the existence of anything and everything, he owns all Ase(energy), and he uses this Ase to form things.

When Obatala was about to create dry land, he took permission from Olodumare because no change can be done to the universe without his authority(Also Ase)

When Esu tempts, he takes permission from Olodumare to punish or bless depending on the result of the tempting.
Olodumare is not a chief of the gods, Obatala is. Olodumare is only their father.

Jakuta: I have being patiently following religious threads on Nairaland. What I have seen is the inability to decodes/understands some proverbial/descriptive words used int he bible.
You need to know that bible is written in a proverbial/ narrative/ descriptive and personified manner. That is why you need the holy spirit to put you through when reading the bible. god will open your understanding for you to understand the scripture (Lk 24 vs 44-45). Ask (matt 7V7).

Bible is not literature or for the immature, you surely needed a guide in one way at one time if not many.

God of the Mountains:
This is not supposed to mean a God who resides in a mountain but don't you think a God who is above all other gods. As we know nothing is higher than a mountain. Then he can never be a God of the valley. mba!!

Take Heb 4 vs 12 for more detail,

(12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.)

Does this means that the word that comes from God's mouth will injure your soul and spirit? Or what will a sword do to a soul other harm?
The word of God can and will not harm you (if you believe for it is life and truth).

Friends wake up.
Read not bible word for words but understand what the message is all about. If you should spend all this time you have spent criticizing on to understanding, guys you would have gone far with God.

SHALOM.
Shut up. You claim to have the holy spirit auto interpreter to help understand an already interpreted book.

why not show the power of ur holy spirit by reading the Bible in it's origin Hebrew and new testament in its Greek. Let's see the holy spirit at work.

U come here as if u know anything, saying u need holy spirit to think for u because the human brain is dead abi?

Best way to read a book is to read to understand and read unbiased not waiting for an impotent holy spirit to read a book for u.

If there's nothing I can't derive from the Bible with Intelligence and understanding, then there's nothing u can get through the unseen holy spirit

Ethnic division has destroyed Nigeriahuh was Nigeria not a land area of different ethnic groups from the beginning?

U think Nigeria is a country of same people, same culture, same language

U lack sense, u think if Spain,Portugal and France had been merged by force their languages would be known?

Solozzo: The bible is a collection of coverless books, most of which we're authored by unknown persons and no titles to the books. The books included in the so called canon, were the ones that met the agenda and beliefs of the catholic and Protestant churches. Simple.

Now to the topic. How did the Catholic Church know that the bones in their care are really those of St. Peter? Was the first bishop of Rome really the St. Peter of the gospels?
Am not sure either, I've been thinking about it and it's probably made up. Paul seems more fitting to have been the first catholic church head. apostolic church was headed by Peter until Paul came and started preaching to non-Jews

Mr abiola, Orunmila is ur friend and he is ready to release u from this ur state of limited knowledge.

Ogun was a Great blacksmith and hunter who lived in Idanre, he loved wearing palm skirts and always walked with his cutlass.
This man showed Great example for the force of Metal, War and brute strength. His name began to be used as the name for this conscious force of Iron, war, justice and brute strength

Alaafin Oba Sango Olukoso, was the 3rd king of Oyo, he showed unmatched intelligence and strength that brought fear into all around him. When he died his name began to be honored as the name for the conscious force of lightening, thunder and fire.

Orunmila was a wise man who lived in Ife thousands of years ago, he had 16sons and was the first man to figure out the secrets of Ifa. He is regarded as the first Ifa priest. When he died in Modern Ekiti lands, His name began to be honored as the name for the conscious force intelligence, wisdom, understanding and also of Ifa. NativeBoy: And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor heard these things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, to the king of Shimron, to the king of Achshaph, and to the kings who were from the north, in the mountains, in the plain south of Chinneroth, in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west, to the Canaanites in the east and in the west, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite in the mountains, and the Hivite below Hermon in the land of Mizpah. So they went out, they and all their armies with them, as many people as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots. And when all these kings had met together, they came and camped together at the waters of Merom to fight against Israel. But the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow about this time I will deliver all of them slain before Israel. You shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.” So Joshua and all the people of war with him came against them suddenly by the waters of Merom, and they attacked them. Thus Joshua took all this land: the mountain country, all the South, all the land of Goshen, the lowland, and the Jordan plain—the mountains of Israel and its lowlands, from Mount Halak and the ascent to Seir, even as far as Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. He captured all their kings, and struck them down and killed them. (Joshua 11:1-7, 16, 17 NKJV).

They took the mountains, lowlands, plains, valleys, etc.

But the children of Joseph said, “The mountain country is not enough for us; and all the Canaanites who dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both those who are of Beth Shean and its towns and those who are of the Valley of Jezreel.” And Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph—to Ephraim and Manasseh—saying, “You are a great people and have great power; you shall not have only one lot, but the mountain country shall be yours. Although it is wooded, you shall cut it down, and its farthest extent shall be yours; for you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots and are strong.” (Joshua 17:16-18 NKJV)

They were not confident because of the chariots of iron. Your statement is false.

You go on to cite Judges 2:9. I don't know what point you are making by pointing out where Joshua was buried.

I cited Judges 2:1-4.
Then the Angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: “I led you up from Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break My covenant with you. And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this? Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.’ ” So it was, when the Angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voices and wept. (Judges 2:1-4 NKJV)

This is as clear as it can get.
As I have said before u need Orunmila to guide u into knowledge and understanding. Because u lack both of those

bring up more verse. I have already dealt with this one, Israel's God is weak outside mountain areas

NativeBoy: Hahahaha. You're too much friend.

Everything you mentioned: chronology, historicity, numbers and logistics, we can assess their accuracy based on archaeological findings. That is how we know what we know of the ancient world: archaeology.

In any case, here is what you asked for. Straight from Wikipedia I should add:

El Shaddai (Hebrew: אל שדי‎, IPA: [el ʃadːaj]) is one of the Judaic names of God, with its etymology coming from the influence of the Ugaritic religion upon modern Judaism. Shaddai was one of the many Gods in Canaanite religion. El Shaddai is conventionally translated as God Almighty. While the translation of El as "god" in Ugarit/Canaanite language is straightforward, the literal meaning of Shaddai is the subject of debate.

Another theory is that Shaddai is a derivation of a Semitic stem that appears in the Akkadian shadû ("mountain"wink and shaddā`û or shaddû`a ("mountain-dweller"wink, one of the names of Amurru. This theory was popularized by W. F. Albright[citation needed] but was somewhat weakened when it was noticed[by whom?] that the doubling of the medial d is first documented only in the Neo-Assyrian period. However, the doubling in Hebrew might possibly be secondary. According to this theory, God is seen as inhabiting a mythical holy mountain, a concept not unknown in ancient West Asian mythology (see El), and also evident in the Syriac Christian writings of Ephrem the Syrian, who places Eden on an inaccessible mountaintop.

The term may mean "God of the mountains," referring to the Mesopotamian divine mountain.[3] The term was one of the patriarchal names for the tribal god of the Mesopotamians.[3] In Exodus 6:3, El Shaddai is identified explicitly with the God of Abraham and with YHWH.[3] The term appears chiefly in the Torah. This could also refer to the Israelite camp's stay at Mount Sinai where God gave Moses the Ten Commandments.

I hope this should suffice.
You saw the bolded but choose to ignore it. Your lack of intelligence is glaring. You need help from Orunmila.

Lies in this thread.

Orunmila is not a prophet. He is a god, Orisha fun Ogbon, Imo ati Oye, ikeji Olorun, eleri-ipin, amo awo aye.

He knows all, he is the second after Olorun.

Orunmila is not restricted to Yoruba, but the whole universe. He is the personification of knowledge and wisdom. He was there at the beginning, and knows all to infinity. He is Olodumare's favorite child, and through him All pagans(not only Yoruba) have known spirituality.

The name Orunmila is only given to the conscious force of intelligence, that doesn't mean he is a dead man that is worshipped. Other traditions have a different name for him, also have a different personification for him.
