ngozievergreen: Igbo nollywood went English and Igbo and it is the mainstream nollywood.
when they say nollywood outside Nigeria, its Igbo nollywood.
That olu Jacobs n omotola applied for jobs and we gave them doesn't mean its not Igbo nolly.

igbo spoken Living in bondage gained a worldwide recognition that no Yoruba movie can ever get.
outside sw, Yoruba films are not existent
I never heard of living in bondage

bigfrancis21: However, recently Igbo musicians and rappers have broken the popular belief that in order to have your music sell, you must sing in Yoruba. Igbo musicians have released hit musics in Igbo language as well. Talk of Igbo musicians talk about Nigger Raw, Flavour N'abania, J Martins, Phyno, Lynxx, P Square, Ill Bliss, Ikechukwu etc. Just recently, at the Nigeria's 2013 Music Videos Award, Flavour N'abania trumped all other Nigerian musicians by winning four different awards and won the best music video of they year(Ada Ada). This is an artist who rose from nothing into fame by singing purely in Igbo language. Flavour, P Square and others have proven that you can make hit track musics in Igbo language.

Your post contains lies. Don Jazzy, being a music producer, rarely sings in Yoruba. MI doesn't sing in Yoruba. He raps only in pidgin English. And Terry G is a yoruba boy. Naeto C sings mostly in Pidgin English as well. The yoruba song which you'll rush to claim hold of wasn't his own but D'Banj's where he featured Naeto C in it. Faze and Dprince being lagos-brought up boys have sung some songs with Yoruba lyrics. Chidinma too, another Lagos brought up Igbo.

Recently, there's been an increase in Igbo-language rappers in the music industry. Ikechukwu, Ill Bliss, Phyno etc. Phyno is one of the latest and best rappers in Nigeria of recent times.

Even other musicians have begun singing in Igbo. TuFace's, an Enugu boy who loves the coal city town of Enugu, sings mostly in Pidgin English. His latest hit track of 2012, 'ihe neme' was in Igbo. Timaya's latest hit track 'Ukwu' had Igbo lyrics in it. Iyanya also released another one containing Igbo lyrics in it called 'Lekwa Ukwu'. Igbo language was important to Timaya's success in the music industry. Between 2007 to 2010, most of Timaya's songs contained Igbo lyrics.
How did hip hop start in Ajegunle? I don't consider those songs by Ajegunle boiz as Hip hop. Tho they practically started the Nigeria music industry, and were really fun to listen to.
Flavor and phyno are the only ones who put complete Igbo lyrics. The rest say few words dats all, they still even add Yoruba

Chidinma is now adopting herself as a Yoruba girl with all her new songs in Yoruba lyrics, even when she sang wit phyno she never spoke one Igbo, but spoke alot of Yoruba

Tuface is Idoma,.from Benue start not Enugu, he is not Igbo

Timaya is Ijaw and his lyrics are Yoruba, Igbo and pidgin

Phenom and Iceprince are far better than phyno. Olamide makes rap cooler than phyno in native language

bigfrancis21: @Bold...Kunle Afolayan is the best movie director/producer whatever in the Yoruba movie industry and not in the whole of Nollywood. Chico Ejiro is the best in the whole of Nollywood. His name, not Kunle's, is in international records.

Igbo actors feature in Yoruba movies just as Yoruba actors feature in Igbo movies. The presence of a few Yoruba actors mainly Funke Akinele, Olu Jacobs, Ramsey Nouah, and Omotola doesn't make Nollywood any less Igbo owned and dominated. AGN is headed and controlled by Igbos.
This is just a tribalistic notion.

Tho I said "arguably", you cannot compare chico ejiro with Afolayan
Ejiro's time is long past. And chico Ejiro isn't Igbo

Figurine: araromire, Phone swap, Irapada are One of Nigeria's best movies and phone swap is English, yet no one claims Yoruba owns phone swap.
Yoruba was mostly spoken in Figurine and Irapada, yet it raised the glory of Nollywood, not Yoruba movies.
A new movie is in production now-."October 1" talking about Independence in Nigeria and the state of Yorubaland during the time. This movie wouldn't be categorized as Yoruba movie, but Nollywood movie.

So Wats this with u trying to claim Nollywood is for Igbo.
Aside all those village settings, with brothers killing each other for money
When we see movies set in cities especially Lagos and modern day life,we see contributions of Yoruba people.

Bigfrancis Your mission on this thread is to tribalize and you are a mod

grin big Francis is just being patriotic to his ethnic nation. however it's important to be rational and unbiased

Nollywood English movies aren't controlled by Igbos alone, Yoruba directors and producers are doing Great work especially Kunle Afolayan(arguably Nigeria's best movie producers/director)
Actors are doing ok too, there's Olu Jacobs that usually acts in Igbo setting, Omotola, Ramsey Noah and many others.

Then the pure Yoruba movies are also part of Nollywood, solely controlled by Yoruba

Both Yoruba and Igbo puts alot in the movies.

cutieemperor007: Once upon a time, our fore fathers go into the bush and cut down trees which they carve into object which they postrate to and worship as their god and personal protector, years late, there comes the white man who think our fore fathers fool for postrating and worshiping log of wood and stones they carved with their own hands, therefore the white man mould images out of mud/ cement and paint pictures of their fathers with well trimed beards and gave it to our fathers to worship as their god.

Ques: what is the different between the woods that are carved and worshiped by our fore fathers which are termed idols and these cement moulded version/ artistically painted picture of their father brought to us by the white.....

9jacrip: You need not attack me.

In simpler terms: it is a general belief, though a wrong one, that Yoruba progenitors during the earliest times migrated from Mecca. And since this theory of Mecca emigration was/is touted by the Northerners who had contact with Oyo (not any known contact with Ife), then it means the Mecca emigrant they are/were talking about founded Oyo, based on PhysicsQED's logical post. And since we all know Oyo was an offshoot of Ile-Ife, this means the Mecca hypothesis is wrong!

Oyo people were the people Sultan of Sokoto described in his tales and Oyo people were the only ones originally reffered as Yoruba/Yoruba. The tale of Mecca founders refers to Oyo, and since there's little to no contact recorded between Sokoto/Northerners and Ile-Ife, then it is only right to stick the Mecca thesis with Oyo which then proves the theory is not only wrong but meaningless. Yet, some mischeivous folks keep touting, spreading and even attaching it to Ife and not Oyo. Do you get my drift now?

I was only trying to disprove the Hamitic Hypothesis and PhysicsQED's post connected the dots for me.
Am sorry, I thought you are one of these brainwashed fools linking Yoruba history to Mecca.

1. They say Oduduwa came from Mecca
2. They say Oyo came from Mecca
3. They say Ife came from Mecca

Muslims pls stop trying to distort history to justify ur muslimness, Yoruba people have nothing to do with Mecca.

*kill alot of his own people
*conduct life experiments on human bodies in nazi camp
*intensify a world war
* cause his ex wifes and sister to commit suicide.

PLS BRO DO NOT COMPARE MOSES TO HITLER
Moses killed millions of canaanites and Jews
He killed his own people
If such had been known then, Moses would have definitely done that and worse
He intensified a Semitic war, his part of world was at constant battles
He caused His sister with leprosy

So wats the big deal with Hitler? If Moses is regarded a man of God despite all his crimes against humanity, then Hitler cannot be evil

FOLYKAZE: I ran across an article about bosom at the bold. Dont you think Gen 49:25 which associate El as person with breast and womb mean it refering to goddess Asherah?
When the Bible(OT) talks about A GOD, it's sometimes difficult to decipher which God in question.
Here's some points I digged up:

I know asherah/athirat was the mother goddess, Queen of heaven. Jeremiah 7:18, 44:17-19

In Ugaritic spirituality(part of present Syria) she is the wife of El, she was the owner of the sea, sea goddess are almost always connected to child birth and fruitfulness . She had 70 children who were also Gods
It seems she is the famine aspect of El Elyon and not a separate God in some spirituality(I could be wrong here)

But In gen 17:1-2 & 6 El Shaddai introduces himself and gives a blessing on fertility.
many other verses show El Shaddai giving blessings on fruitfulness and fertility.

NativeBoy: Let's try this again:

http://www.el-shaddai.org/whatdoesitmean.asp

"God Almighty" redirects here. For other uses, see God Almighty (disambiguation).
El Shaddai (Hebrew: אל שדי‎, IPA: [el ʃadːaj]) is one of the Judaic names of God, with its etymology coming from the influence of the Ugaritic religion upon modern Judaism. Shaddai was one of the many Gods in Canaanite religion. El Shaddai is conventionally translated as God Almighty. While the translation of El as "god" in Ugarit/Canaanite language is straightforward, the literal meaning of Shaddai is the subject of debate.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Shaddai
You Christians never read to understand, never in ur Christian life have u understood how to read carefully.

Check the bolded

They only assume Shaddai means Almighty because of KJ's conspiracy and lies. however they realize it's not so but for the respect wiki doesn't just want to drop the bomb, it could affect their service, with all this religious bigots everywhere.

In Hebrew-English dictionary
Shadda means mountain dweller
Shadayim means breasts
Shadad means destroyer
sha means who
Dai means enough
The Jews call El Shaddai the guardian of the doors of Israel- wats at the doors of Israel? Wat guards Israel? Mountains

Ukuts gp: I dnt know why atheists and pagans are so blind and daft like this. No wonder the bible says that the god of this age have blinded their mind.

2 corinthians 4:4.
In whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

They should know that God who created the heaven and the earth by the words of his mouth is far wiser than them.

Hebrew 11:3.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Psalm 24 :1.
For the earth is the lord's and the fullness thereof, the earth and all that dwell therein.

Their reasoning is so shallow to think that the world evolved from something else.
Who could have created a world like this if an invisible force is not behind it. It could only be the almighty God himself.

Genesis 1:1.
In the begining God created heavens and the earth.

If the scientist claim they have power and wisdom, let them make the sun and moon to stand still for a particular numbers of days then i would believe them. Let them alter the normal course of day and night if they claim they know more than God. Even those dumb ancestors cant do that.
Even the devil cant match God's infinite wisdom.

1 corinthians 1:25.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

None can be compared to God in all the earth. The wisdom of the atheist is vain and futile. Their wisdom could not tell them that there is an all-powerful and an all-wise God who created everything that is in existence. Afterall, the bible is very correct when it says ' the fool says in his heart, there is no God' psalm 14:1. What a foolish way to think.
Look who's talking, you are the real daft one for believing a dead Jew can save u

How is God invincible? The Bible projects him as very visible, Moses saw him, Jacob and Abraham did, he came down to earth during the building of the tower of Babel.

I wonder how Christians believe all this.
Jesus is dead and gone, forget the dead Jewish criminal and nourish ur Ori so ur soul can develop
Jesus never told stupidd lies for stupidd people to believe. He claimed to be the Jewish Messiah, and they knew he was wrong, he started blaspheming against God, they killed him, his disciples started honoring him like a god, The Romans heard this used it to make a cool new religion, wrote books, compiled bibles, and modified some more, made rules, killed many etc

In fact christianity is nothing more than a political and financial tool

The key thing to note is - migration from Mecca was in relation to OYO which was the only place/people referred as Yoruba originally.

Listen Oyo people migrated from Ife.
All this tall about Oyo migrating from middle east is rubbish.

Oranmiyan the Great Ife prince led his disciples, close allies and family to Katunga, the spot he stopped was called Ajaka, the land favored Oranmiyan and they spread out more to create a big nation called Oyo-Ile.

The nupe and fulani that started calling oyo Yoruba is normal, Oyo called nupe tapa, but did we start dedicating their history for them?

Why all this conspiracy? Wetin my people do all this people spreading lies?
