lucky Don: My broda no be lie oh...after doing many sacrifices and fetish things, they still visit the holy land. They are not even afraid of being struck dead or with madness instantly.Anyway,I don't blame them because our God is a merciful God.They are just deceiving themselves
So wat is wrong with politicians doing sacrifice and fetish things?
If they sacrifice to their gods that's cool
Not worshiping a foreign god
Politics › Re: President Jonathan In Israel (Pictures) by macof(m): 8:12am On Oct 25, 2013
why should a president worship in a foreign way?

Nigeria is suppose to be an independent nation, and the president is suppose to show independence

He is really mad to be on a pilgrimage to Israel

He should have gone to Bayelsa to honor the gods of his ancestors not a god from Israel.

Mr. President your are just a Slave minded fool

Rexyl: God loves a sinner but it is sin that He hates, and what is sin? It is anything against righteousness of God, and not the righteousness of law except the law embraces godliness. If I am doing God‘s work I must avoid what is against Him. You know God warns us not to have any other gods beside Him. He is the Holy one - I am that I am. Glory be unto Him.
Why must u follow the Israel way of worship? They worship Elohim(children of El) as one
But we Africans worship them in their true nature

Paganism is ordained by God but all these religions Islam, Judaism and christianity are man made.

Why worship in a foreign way?
wat is wrong with worshipping like ur ancestors did?
Christianity is nothing but a fraud and the biggest lie ever told.
You can only see the light if u open ur mind to the truth.

God doesn't warn u to not have any other God, he warns the Israelis(and of course this was made up by Moses)

I don't know wat ethnic group u belong but you are African- why detest the religion of ur ancestors and love a religion that is nt urs?

In the entire Bible did u come across anything concerning ur people? No
It was all Israel
you think God existed only in Israel
God loves Everyone
God is present in every nation
And it has always been that way

God is nt against paganism
In fact paganism is the way to understand God

You need to stop living a slaves life

Am nt asking u to revert to ur pagan religion but all I ask is for u to learn it, understand it and appreciate ur ancestors for the wise men that they were.

No foreign religion can be as your blood religion, the religion of ur ancestors.

Repent! Repent! and acknowledge the gods of ur ancestors

Is this not the same Israel of the Bible?
The Israelis that Christians strive to be like.
The Israel that Christians march in hundreds/thousands to pilgrimage in Jerusalem
The Israel that God picked among all other nations
The Israel that is the only nation that knows God
The Israelis that are God's own people
The descendants of the pagan Abraham

Wow! Shame on u African Christians, it would be nice if the Israelis cast u all out maybe you would begin to see that your nation/ethnic group knows God better than the Israelis

Divepen: THAT MEANS THERE IS ON SATAN?
Satan is an Hebrew word meaning- "accuser" or "adversary".
This satan according to Christians is the bringer of evil, the ultimate malevolent spirit that tempts man and leads them astray.
Am sure u have committed wat u call sin so Pls tell me, have u ever seen or heard the voice of satan? Wat exactly drives u to sin? Why blame a spirit for ur actions?

1. There are verses of the Bible(I took time to jot down two) where "adversary" appears.

Numbers 22:22(an angel standing as an "adversary"wink

1 Samuel 29:4( David referred to as a potential adversary)

2. In the book of Job, satan(the accuser) is on orders from God. Would a rebel and rogue take orders?

3. The present Jews use the word "satan" to refer to an enemy, not the evilness of the world or bringer of evil.

4. Genesis 6:5 had nothing to do with any being called "satan". (God saw that every imagination from the hearts of men was only evil)

5. 1 kings 22:21-23 (the lying spirit is obviously the same spirit in Job) here we see God instructing a lying spirit to dwell on prophets. The lying spirit is even referred to as "Lord" in the last statement of verse 23- "and the Lord has spoken evil concerning thee"

6. 1 chronicles 21:1-2 (satan advises David)

My conclusion is this- Satan(the Christian bringer of evil, the one that rebels against God and wants to rule in place of God) doesn't exist, he was a character invented by the early Christian fathers eg. Justin martyrs

The satan of the Bible(at least the OT) is a messenger of God, very obedient yet powerful and closest to men, having of both positive and negative attributes.(much like Eshu in my religion)

The thing that makes humans sin isn't satan, it's because we have free will embedded in our consciousness.
It allows us makes our own decisions either positive or negative we are liable to both that's why we should keep a balance. Iwa-pele as we preach in my religion is the most important thing in life.

It's stupidity or should I say foolishness or both, to think anyone or anything is capable of rebelling against Almighty God.
1. Why has God not dealt with satan yet?
2. We did God even create satan in the first place? Remember God is omniscient

Christians shouldn't mis-understand the Jews and mix up their spirituality.
Judaism doesn't even care about this "acuser"(called satan in their language) and he is a part of heaven, a member of the council of the sons of God.
His name isn't "Lucifer". The word "Lucifer" is a Latin word meaning "morning star" and Isaiah was referring to a Babylonian king not Satan.
Do you think Isaiah(an Hebrew speaking Israeli) would use a Latin word?

The Christian satan is a big fat lie, doesn't exist, never existed
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is African Traditional Religion Seen As Demonic? by macof(m): 4:15pm On Oct 24, 2013
okeyxyz: Christianity is not the problem(I speak as a christian), rather it is our low self esteem and racism on the part of the world leaders/elites that has reduced us to this level of self hate. If you are deprived a lot in terms of good education, economic empowerment, cultural identity, ownership and pride, then it's only natural that you end up hating yourself and trying to identify more with the white man than with your own attributes. This inferiority complex is what led to the misuse of christianity, besides the misunderstanding of it. The same misunderstanding and misuse of religion you guys are doing here by attacking the shadow(christianity) instead of the substance.

One very typical example: Put a picture of a black girl besides a picture of a white girl, at least 95 percent of black men will say the white girl is more beautiful. Even on occasions where we might agree that a black girls is beautiful, then all here features must be white and only her color is black. What has this got to do with christianty? Nothing. Rather it is our low self esteem has made us hate anything resembling us. Our music artists now feature white girls in their videos and majority of us praise them for making beautiful, "world class" videos, we tell ourselves the lie that it is because we want a global appeal and that is why we feature white girls. Only i.di.ots who don't think(which happens to be about 80 percent of people) believe this line.
I understand that it's nt all christianity's fault, but why do pastors
1. Preach against ancestral practices
2. Advise against Names from members indigenous languages
3. Stag act demons from the person's lineage eg. Demon from the fathers house
4. Preach against sacrifice to the Orisha.

While Nollywood movies gives the impression that
1. Traditional priest are evil
2. Pastors would always defeat traditional priest
3. Whenever u need to bring down some one, A traditional priest is the man for the job

All these stated when christianity came, and these Abrahamic religions are really brainwashing Africans

bola4dprec: Kwara own better now what about this ? Eko was the land area now known as Lagos Island where the king's palace was built. Modern-day Lagos was founded by the Benin in the sixteenth century. All the Kings of lagos were buried in Benin. They passed on taxes to the Oba of Bini until the British came and explained that there was no need to send taxes to Benin anymore especially as the Benin themselves were paying taxes to Britain. It was during his reign that the direct influence of the Benin on Lagos ended. British came all the way from Europe to rule over southern and Northern protectorate no complaint filed, why cited Ilorin as a case study I hate some Igbomina people.
There's no confusion with Eko(Lagos island) or the entire state of Lagos.

They are awori people who migrated from Ile-Ife, they know their history and tho a bit sired to Bini due to the long homage pay to them. Awori are full Yoruba, not Edo or any other

9jacrip: At the first bolded: this is what I'm saying. Different oral history from different souces - some detailed, some not so detailed due to overtime embellishments or how well our sources are privy to information. You not ever hearing oduduwa engaged Obatala/ife in conflict shows you need to do more findings because if we begin to go in the line of core oral history then I'm afraid there are/would be so many things you have never heard that you would start fighting and protesting against as you have done so far.

When did Olubuse discuss oral history as being fulfillment of prophecy with you? And who are your sources of oral history? Oduduwa family compound? Ile Olorisa? Obameri compound? Or at least regular Ife indegenes?

If you have not gone to gone to ife to do a one on one interview with either of this compound heads with regards to Oduduwa advent then permit me to completely fault your claims and ask you to speak less on it because you are apparently distorting history.

If saburi, akinjogbin, falola, ade-ajayi classed yoruba history as spirituality then we might as well not have historiography on Yoruba - abi you would have preferred we continue to propagate oral history that is fast withering away in this new age of 'westernization' where most people do not want to be attached to culture, which they think is barbaric?
I've been to Ife only once, never spoke to olubuse but Ife indigenes, we ekiti also have such stories.

it's hard to believe that I have never heard of military conflicts between Oduduwa and Obatala.

It has always been my opinion that Oduduwa was welcomed in for being the man of prophecy.

If not why would the Ife people pledge allegiance to a foreigner and turn away from Obatala?
stop mixing Spirituality with history.

sometime Kings have names of Gods or in some cases like Shango, the names of Kings are used to replace the older ways of calling particular Gods (e.g., Jakuta).

This maybe for many reasons, including the works and characteristics of the ruler, etc.
I understand this but I go by what I heard.

I don't assume or try to add into the history of Ife.

I never for once heard of any military conflict between Oduduwa and ife people.

According to wat the Ooni of ife says and also the oral history that has been passed from generations; Oduduwa was a fulfillment of prophecy.

Spirituality has been mixed with history there not by me
I dont see why some people don't believe in the oral history and decide to make assumptions
Bro, kindly stop this your blind nationalism. I'm also Yoruba, a historian. The Fulani did defeat us at Ilorin, they also killed the traitor, Afonja. From Ilorin, they sacked Oyo ile, don't you that the present Oyo isn't the Capital of the Old Oyo Empire? Old Oyo was upper ward when compare to the present one. However, you're right about Ibadan defeating them in 1840 at Oshogbo and the Ibadan forces made a grave mistake by not chasing them out of Ilorin. At that time, if the other Yoruba States had align with Ibadan, Sokoto itself could have been a Yoruba city, I said so because we've had access to European riffles and Canons at that time whereas, the Fulanis were using calvary, swordmen and archers. The insult at Ilorin is the reason why any sane Yorubaman should consider the Hausa/Fulani as our eternal enemies.
