The Nigerian beer market is facing stiff competition from the imported spirits, wines and vodka which the younger generation who drink tend to align more with these days...

The 3 major brewers (NB, IB and Guinness... In no particular order) are also jostling amongst themselves for market share...

They need to start thinking of diversifying...
I believe its more of Govt policies not favouring this Industry, same with Petroleum Marketing.............Between this 3 I believe they have got the R&grin to match any thing the Alomo bitters of this world have to offer, I saw what Origin did for Guiness....... The Industry has lobbied relentlessly for waivers from this Government but no deal has been brokered hence their poor Showing....... This stocks are what I call Election stocks for now as their hopes for a rise hinges on a change in Govt policies

I have a few notes ...... This FBN dividend does not make sense unless you bought during FBNH crises that sent it to a low of about #2.90 for good 3 months...........same is going on in a few companies right now.... If one is able to buy now and they come out of the heavy headwinds facing them now their Dividends would definitely look delicious......If u dont take some out in capital gains........

We have different threshold. Unfortunately when people join a forum like this, they dont understand that our risk profile differs. So when you follow someone with different risk profile, when the risk materializes then response will be different. When people use SHORT TERM funds for LONG TERM INVESTMENT because someone told them of a 50% return in 2 weeks what do you think will happen?

Then you have people averaging down and the more they buy the lower the market goes! How patient can they be after they've spent rent and school fees money to buy shares expecting to make 50% in 6 months only to be at 25% loss!

Then you have those that don't fully understand the strategic reason behind some moves. You have people buying illiquid stock to get on the board. No plan to sell. Now you joined because it was gaining 10% everyday with the hope of selling! You suddenly discover that what you have is paper profit because no one is BUYING smiley

People need to develop a plan and follow the plan. Yes you can update your plan BUT don't do follow follow because of our risk profile, objective etc are DIFFERENT.

Know yourself and UNTO thyself be TRUE

I think the world needs to know this.

Wuhan to Milan = 8700 km
Wuhan to New York = 12000 km

Wuhan to London = 8880 km
Wuhan to Paris = 8900 km
Wuhan to Spain = 9830 km
Wuhan to India = 3575 km
Wuhan to Iran = 6560 km

Corona in Wuhan's nearby city of Beijing / Shanghai had no effect, but ...
^ Death in Italy, Iran, Europe countries and ruining the world economy…!
All business areas of China are safe…!

 * Something is wrong…! *
America is not blaming China like this ...! *
4
Fear of terror, America kept protecting us and kept selling weapons and ...
On the other hand, China has worsened the economic situation of the whole world and today itself is sitting safely!
It says - far-sighted and long-held conspiracy to rule the world ...!
The virus from Wuhan reached the whole world but did not reach Beijing, Shanghai ...! Why ...?

Great people in the world have been corona, Hollywood - Star, Australia's Home Minister, Britain's Health - Minister, Spain's Prime Minister's wife and now Britain's Prince Charles also has Corona, but China Corona has not even touched a single leader, a single military - commander ...! Why ...?

Corona virus has ruined the economy worldwide, thousands have lost their lives, millions have been sick and countless people have been locked in homes, locked down in many countries, In which India is also one!

Corona virus has originated from the city of Wuhan in China and now it has reached every corner of the world, but this virus has not reached the capital of China: Beijing and the economic-capital: Shanghai near Wuhan, why ...?

Today Paris is closed, New York is closed, Berlin is closed, Rome is closed, Delhi is closed, Mumbai is closed, major economic and political centers of the world are closed, but Beijing and Shanghai are open, there Corona did not show any effect! Numerous cases came to light, but in a way, Corona had no effect on Beijing and Shanghai, why ...?

Beijing is the city where all the leaders of China live, military-leaders live here, those who run the power of China live here, there is no lock-down in Beijing! It is open! Corona has no effect here, why ...?

Shanghai is the city that runs China's economy, it is the economic capital of China, here all the rich people of China live! Those who keep the industry running, there is no lock-down here, corona here has no effect…! * Why ...? *

Is corona a pandemic virus, which has been told that you have to create panic all over the world, but you will not come to Beijing and Shanghai, it is very important to ask China the question that when the biggest developed countries of the world Could not stop Corona! Corona created terror in big cities of the world, so why did not this conflict reach Beijing…? ; Why not reach Shanghai ...? * Why ...? *

Beijing and Shanghai are the areas adjacent to Wuhan! The virus from Wuhan reached every corner of the world, but this virus did not reach Beijing and Shanghai…! * Why ...? *

Today, the whole of India and 130 crore Indians may be locked-down! Our economy is coming to a standstill, but all major cities of China are open and now and from April 8, China is also opening Wuhan! The whole world is stricken with terror! Now new cases are not coming in China and China is open…! * Why ...? *

Another big thing is that the stock market around the world has fallen by almost half! Nifty has gone from 12 thousand to 7 thousand in India too! But China's share - market was at 3 thousand which is only at 2700! There is no effect of this virus on the Chinese market as well…! * Why ...? *

Whatever these things are, they only point to one thing that the corona is a bio-chemical weapon of China, which China has left for destruction in the world! After getting some people killed, China has now controlled this virus! Perhaps he also has medicine, which he is not sharing with the world!

*Why…?*

If you are not here yet, why go in?

But note...my take is that this is a distressed stock of an otherwise "good company" that got its funding structure and marketing strategy wrong. It still has a strong product portfolio and k believe the new management will pay a lot of attention on the value segment of the market where it appears to be thumping NB.

After the rights issue which i understand was mostly taken up by the parent company, i truly expect this company to delist within 18 months. However, these are just my thoughts and time will tell.
The result is truely an accounting Gimmick, Sir lets dissect this IB, Its on my radar, I don't want to believe they will quickly delist as it wont be as easy to import money into the company were it not listed on the exchange through the rights issue....... What would be a good price to key into this stock

My Ogas, what do you think about this commentary below? I got this from a WhatsApp group. It painted a scary scenario for Nigeria

It is already happening. About 70 cargoes are currently stranded - no buyers. Nigeria is currently offering a $5 discount which means we are selling at a loss. Major problem is that we are no longer a low cost producer like back in the days when most of our oil was produced from onshore and marginal fields. Now the bulk of our oil comes from expensive deep sea offshore oil wells - bringing our average oil production cost to $17 per barrel. Meanwhile Saudi produces at $2.8 - $5 on the average and is offering $8 - $10 discount per barrel. Russia produces at $15 but has solid foreign reserves of $500bn/$600bn.

I understand that most IOCs, including Shell, are now considering scaling back their capes- which of course affects our future production capacity. NNPC has said that if oil price continues to tank from this level, Nigeria will stop selling because it will be at a massive loss.

Without export proceeds, we have only FDI and FPI to fund our fast declining foreign reserves. Unfortunately foreign investors are heading out amid fears around Nigeria's bleak macro prospects.

Therefore we are heading for a situation worse than 2015. We have massive Eurobonds that need to be serviced. Our currency is overvalued - fair value is from 425/$. We are also heading into a negative real interest rate environment. A combination of these two factors will make Nigeria very unattractive to foreign investors - just like in 2015. Unfortubately CBN does not have the kind of latitude it had in 2015. Our debt service cost to revenue ratio is already overstretched at above 50%. We cannot even issue the new Eurobonds we need to issue because yield on our existing Eurobonds has gone up to 15% levels - almost reflecting a potential default.

Worse still we have to manage a deadly combination of Lassa and Coronavirus. The prognosis is really scary. In 2008/2009 we had a financial crisis. Today we have a deadly Health crisis and a bigger Financial crisis rolled into one.

My advice. Avoid taking on any FX obligation if you can. Pray fervently for Russia, Saudi and OPEC+ to come back together, and for a cheap and effective vaccine or cure for Coronavirus to be found
my brother, the most important thing right now is life.....lets pray we come out of corona unscampered..........im so happy right now im in the village, im surrounded by food and fuel......sucking sheri mango as i speak to you with the smell of roasted corn coming from firewood fire boiling esuru for tomorrow...............
