Politics › Re: N8.9 Billion Salary: Audit Of FCTA Staff Coming – Wike by MasterTeeUSA: 5:21pm On Nov 30, 2023
What if they decide not to keep funds in Nigerian Banks and instead opted to put them in foreign banks paid for and open by their corrupt friends. Nigerians are known to be so corrupt they buy houses abroad. I do agree that we are not yet serious about fighting corruption, and it will take a huge taskforce to bring this to the barest minimum.

seborrhic:
If fcta has about 39k staff, according to Wike, then ₦9b+ salary per month is not an outrageous figure if you are looking at average salary of ₦200-250k.
What should be the bone of contention is if the staff strength is actually 39k or if a good number out of that are ghost workers
BVN, Nin has made corruption fight in Nigeria pretty easy, particularly for civil service payroll, but it's just the will power that is lacking because the person fighting the corruption may also be indulged in it or is a major beneficiary.
With bvn,you would know the account balance of all civil servants, make a comparison to that person's publicly known salary, then compare to it and to assets.Even if a civil decides to use family members to hide funds,it's still easy to trace;a child cannot have 100m in the account or a full-time housewife 200m or cousins with humongous sums hidden.
So long the will power is not there, corruption we must all accept has come to stay

Winter is coming.

President Bola has appointed Pius Akinyelure as the Non-Executive Board Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and also retained Mele Kyari as the organisation’s Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO).

A Monday statement by Tinubu’s spokesman Ajuri Ngelale said the duo is part of the new board and management of the NNPCL.

Their appointment, which is in compliance with Section 59 (2) of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, takes effect from December 1, 2023, he said.

Travel › Re: Traveling To Nigeria With An Expired Nigerian Passport by MasterTeeUSA: 10:00pm On Nov 25, 2023
I have done this twice...1st...I told United Airlines and already paid but biometric interview date was after my travel date. I emailed and sent some documents but no one responded. The airline took me and I was told it was because it's a direct flight.

I was planning not planning to do it the following year after missing my interview date and unable to schedule online...went to the embassy only to be told my application has expired and had to travel so soon...then I was also told that Lufthansa won't carry me ...I applied and got Emergency Travel Certificate and it was stress free.

I have reapplied for passport again and biometric is 6+ months...like what the Bleep. Sadly I have paid to renew the passport and wait 6 months cos ETC last time set me back $150 when it should have been free..."Naija factor of course. I had to even thank them for at least processing it for me and write a letter" I can't pay that again...it would have been nice to come to Naija to process the passport which by all estimate would take about 1-2 weeks now

Obinoscopy:
Hi Guys,

Getting an expired Nigerian passport renewed is a hassle especially in Nigerian Embassies in foreign countries. This has left too many Nigerians in Diaspora with expired Nigerian Passport.

I'm aware of an an existing law that prohibits the prevention of a Nigerian citizen from entry simply because he/she has an expired Passport. Once the airline drops you in Nigeria, nobody, i repeat, no nobody can send you back as long as you are a Nigerian. Infact I know a lot of Nigerians with dual citizenship who has traveled to Nigeria and back with their valid Foreign Passport and an expired Nigerian Passport.

However I'm told that certain airlines might have their own policy regarding the use of expired passport. This thread is for people who have traveled with expired Nigerian Passport to share their experience.

Please tell us the airline you used and the country you flew in from. Tell us which airport you used and the difficulties or ease you experienced throughout the flight.

This information might be invaluable to people who intend traveling back to Nigeria during this yuletide season.

Great article...It speaks for people like us. You invest in Nigeria to make it better...we invest in rentals and set the parameters to eliminate these fraudulent agent practices.. we maintain our properties so our people can live decently and we acquire them so we can contribute our quota.

I understand why people want to sell and japa. I do worry it might be harder to buy sold properties later on...everyone is adding values to these properties now and the prices are increasing exponentially. Still why keep an asset one can't maintain and pass on opportunity to japa? It's a win win.

Someone mentioned Oyo and Ogun airports.. those ones are meant to be primarily cargo airports...Lagos is building the largest storage center in Africa...Oyo and Ogun wants to ship abroad and attract investors via air...all states will grow at its pace..the size of Anambra is like a midget next to Oyo and Ogun so let's not compare apples and insects.

This is a reflection of our declining culture. They used to teach us as kids not to reject any gift even If you plan to give it away, throw it away or use it. Someone failed to teach cultural values here...and that is the reason our society has fallen so far. Now imagine getting married to their daughter...beginning of shege, disrespect begins ..so what should they do with the bread? Eat it...better go back, apologize profusely and collect the bread

PuZZyNegro:
I traveled from Lagos to Port Harcourt to see my future in laws family. My girl wasn't around as she's still in Lagos schooling.

I went there with a family member and got them some items like shortcake biscuits and juice.

They offered us food and we ate. After the meeting and normal questioning, we were set to go when surprisingly, this people brought out two loaves of bread and gave us. I told them that the food we ate was enough, that we don't need the bread.

We haven't even gone far when my girl started texting me on WhatsApp angrily asking me why I rejected her mother's gift. That she gave it out of love, this and that.

I told her that bread is the wrongest gift the mother could give me. I am supposed to buy them bread and not the one way round. I intentionally refused to buy bread for them because I assumed bread is an everyday food that people buy and eat, so I decided to go with the package biscuits instead and here they are offering me bread.

If it were something produced locally by them like coconut or something, I can understand but bread?

Please, did I do anything wrong rejecting the bread?

Be patient, be able to navigate life alone and stay away from those that will land you in trouble...if you use a stolen credit card by someone else...you can find yourself in jail...don't be desperate for relationship or sex...rape is long term jail sentence ...I have no regret..though I can write many books on my japa experience ...the suffererness is real too grin grin

Truth of the matter is that if you are a social animal and you hate working hard and you like awoof you will absolutely hate living in the west.

Those 3 things I described is the typical naija person right ? Love to parrryyyyy and if you employ them they will spend half the time gisting or playing on the job and they like awoof like this is why naijas love 419 or olosho, it’s like awoof easy money.

Ehn so this is why many get miserable in the west. The west there is no socializing, nobody has your time, the west there is no free money and finally if white man employs you to do 10 hours walahi you will do all 10 hours no slacking.

And so this is why Nigerians get miserable in the west but if you are a rare type of Nigerian who is a hermit and you are a loner who hates socializing and you hate awoof money and you just loveee working extremely hard, you will love oyinbo country.

The Strength of Putin is in its Orthodox Church. Most people do not understand the relationship between Russia Orthodox Church...as old as The Catholic Church. This news came about because the Pope has agreed to allow Gays and Lesbians into Catholic Church. This is a way of saying...not with us. We ain't into that. This is another reason for the war in Ukraine. There are Russians living in Ukraine that were not allowed to easily cross in Russia to worship. This is why Russia is fighting to annex some areas. Politics and Religion...interesting powerful interests.

The 🇷🇺 Russian Justice Ministry on Friday said it has filed a lawsuit with the nation’s Supreme Court to outlaw Gays, Lesbians, LGBTQ “international public movement” as extremist, the latest crippling blow against the already beleaguered LGBTQ community in the increasingly conservative country.

The ministry said in an online statement announcing the lawsuit that authorities have identified “signs and manifestations of extremist nature” in “the activities of the LGBT movement active” in Russia, including “incitement of social and religious discord.” Russia’s Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing to consider the lawsuit for Nov. 30, the ministry said.

It wasn’t immediately clear what exactly the label would entail for LGBTQ people in Russia if the Supreme Court sides with the Justice Ministry. But the move in itself represents the latest, and by far the most drastic, step in the decadelong crackdown on gay rights in Russia unleashed under President Vladimir Putin, who has put “traditional family values” at the cornerstone of his rule.

The crackdown, which began a decade ago, slowly but surely chipped away at LGBTQ rights. In 2013, the Kremlin adopted the first legislation restricting LGBTQ rights, known as the “gay propaganda” law, banning any noncritical public depiction of “nontraditional sexual relations” among minors. In 2020, Putin pushed through a constitutional reform to extend his rule by two more terms that also outlawed same-sex marriage.

In 2022, after sending troops into Ukraine, the Kremlin ramped up its rhetoric about protecting “traditional values” from what it called the West’s “degrading” influence, in what rights advocates saw as an attempt to legitimize the military action in Ukraine. That same year, the authorities adopted a law banning propaganda of “nontraditional sexual relations” among adults, too, effectively outlawing any public endorsement of LGBTQ people.

Another law passed this year prohibited gender transitioning procedures and gender-affirming care for trans people. The legislation prohibited any “medical interventions aimed at changing the sex of a person,” as well as changing one’s gender in official documents and public records. It also amended Russia’s Family Code by listing gender change as a reason to annul a marriage and adding those “who had changed gender” to a list of people who can’t become foster or adoptive parents.

“Do we really want to have here, in our country, in Russia, ‘Parent No. 1, No. 2, No. 3’ instead of ‘mom’ and ‘dad?’” Putin said in September 2022 at a ceremony to formalize Moscow’s annexation of four Ukrainian regions. “Do we really want perversions that lead to degradation and extinction to be imposed in our schools from the primary grades?”
