Christian Science. Vol 1

Isaiah 40:2222 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
Roundness of the earth, eh?. . .If we are to read this literally we have the passage saying that God sits above the circle of the earth. . .How true is that?. . . .There is nothing scientific here, we have a person expressing his thoughts, what exactly does it mean to stretch out the heavens like a canopy and spread them like a tenth?. . .Assuming the heavens mean the universe are we to believe that the universe looks like a tenth?. . .

Isaiah 55:9
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Pls where in the above statement does it talk about the almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe? Is this a joke or what?. . .Na wah ohh. . . .

2 Peter 3:7
7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
What the hell is thishuhhuh Na wah ohhh. . . .The law of conservation of mass and energy states that the total amount of energy in a system remains constant over time, it implies that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed: it can only be transformed from one state to another. For instance chemical energy can become kinetic energy. How does the above drivel come close to law of conservation of mass and energy? Pls take time to read what you get on Christian apologist websites to see if they make sense before distributing them. . . .

Ecclesiastes 1:7
7 All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
  there they return again.
Here is what the Hydrologic cycle states: "The continuous process by which water is circulated throughout the Earth and its atmosphere. The Earth's water enters the atmosphere through evaporation from bodies of water and from ground surfaces. Plants and animals also add water vapor to the air by transpiration. As it rises into the atmosphere, the water vapor condenses to form clouds. Rain and other forms of precipitation return it to the Earth, where it flows into bodies of water and into the ground, beginning the cycle again. Also called water cycle", . . .

Pls how does the drivel from the passage in Ecclesiastes come close to the water cycle?. . .Is it not the same Ecclesiastes that states that the sun moves round the earth?. . . . .

Ecc 1:5 The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.

What nonsense is this?. . . .when does the sun hurries back to where it rises?. . . .

Jeremiah 33:22
22 I will make the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me as countless as the stars in the sky and as measureless as the sand on the seashore.’”
Ok, fair enough it talks about the stars being many but the ancient Greeks had a better knowledge of the stars than the writers of the bible , no? The same writers of the bible wrote that the stars will fall into the earth some day, no?. . . .

Psalm 102:25-27
25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
26 They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
Like clothing you will change them
  and they will be discarded.
27 But you remain the same,
and your years will never end
What the hell is this?. . .The second law of thermodynamics states that in general the total entropy of any system will not decrease other than by increasing the entropy of some other system. How does the nonsense is the book of psalms come close pls? huh shocked grin

Leviticus 17:11
11 For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.[a]
Even bronze age men knew that blood was important, no?. . . .Compare this to the ancient Greeks that first discovered the atom. . .

Ecclesiastes 1:6
6 The wind blows to the south
  and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
  ever returning on its course
Ok, fair enough. . .This one makes sense. . . .and is close to atmospheric circulation. . . . .

Job 26:7
7 He spreads out the northern skies over empty space;
he suspends the earth over nothing.
How does this come close to gravitational field?. . .

Gray Beard:
What is the relevance of all this gibberish? ? ? ? ? So what about the greeks? The fact remains that the JEWS had no such sciences at the time. So how did these men know all these things? ? ? ?

If i prove to you that ancient africans had spiritual books that revealed all these to them, will you anwer by saying that the greeks also knew it? That will be a stoooopid answer because the question is how exactly did this knowledge come to the Jews? ? ? ?
My guy relax. . . . .This is what you said. . . .

Gray Beard:
The fact is that there are so many astonishing scientific details that could not possibly have been known by the men of those days. Many of those details were only discovered by regular science in more advanced times many many centuriues later. Most of them have to do with cosmology and the Earth, and only a being with oversight over all these could have mediated such information to bible writers.
You lied that the "scientific" details could not possibly have been known by men of those days and only a being with over sight could have mediated such information to them. . .And I showed you that the Greeks of that time had better scientific knowledge of the earth and the cosmos. . . .

Gray Beard:
There is one more factor I did not list:

5. Scientific accuracy.

I will address this first so as to get it out of the way.
Your assertion here is very false. . .As to science the ancient Jews appear crude and stunted compared to other cultures   Many scientific details were known by men of those days that lived in other cultures. Their scientific knowledge was more precise and accurate. When it comes to astronomy and cosmology the ancient Greeks beat the ancient Jews hands down. . .Even though some of their reasoning were crude, the Greeks nevertheless laid down patterns of thought that we follow to this day. The ancient Greeks used what we now call observation, reasoning and science.

*Thales: The first of the Greek philosophers, c. 629-555 B.C. He thought the planets, stars, sun, moon, and earth were all composed of different forms of water. He appears to be the first to assert that celestial bodies were not gods, but were made of familiar substance. In those mystical times, this was a radical departure.

*Pythagoras of Samos (c. 580-500 B.C.): Showed that nature could be described by mathematics. Described the musical scale in terms of number ratios and thought that the "spheres that carry the planets" must be arranged in ratios that would be musically harmonious. (Hence the phrase "music of the spheres".)

*Democritus (ca. 460 BC – ca. 370 BC) Democritus held that the earth was round, and stated that originally the universe was comprised of nothing but tiny atoms churning in chaos, until they collided together to form larger units—including the earth and everything on it.[2] He surmised that there are many worlds, some growing, some decaying; some with no sun or moon, some with several. He held that every world has a beginning and an end, and that a world could be destroyed by collision with another world.

* Epicurus341 BCE – 270 BCE):  Epicurus like Democritus, he was an atomist, believing that the fundamental constituents of the world were indivisible little bits of matter (atoms, Greek atomos, indivisible) flying through empty space (khaos). Everything that occurs is the result of the atoms colliding, rebounding, and becoming entangled with one another, with no purpose or plan behind their motions

*Anaximander
(c. 610 BC – c. 546 BC) Anaximander was the first recorded person to suggest the Earth is a sphere. Erastothenes basically worked out the circumference. It was proven 1800 years later by Magellan's voyage.

* Archytas of Tarentum (400 B.C.) asserts that sound was propagated by a medium (air or water).

*Anaxagoras (500 BC – 428 BC) thought that the sun was not just a small glowing circle of light. He thought of it as a large glowing rock, larger than the Peloponnese peninsula. For that belief he was exiled.

*Aristarchus of Samos (310 BC – ca. 230 BC) Aristarchus suggests that the heavenly bodies revolve around the sun and calculated (because of the lack of parallax) that the stars were extrememly far away.

*Aristotle(384 BC – 322 BC): Classified the dolphins as mammals and not fish, as he noticed they bore their young alive with umbilical cords attached.

He: *Proposed elementary laws of motion.
*Affirmed spherical, stationary earth and heavenly spheres on which the sun, moon, and planets moved.
*Laid down much of the basis for other branches of philosophical thought (e.g. logic, ethics).
*Was influential in Europe in the middle ages.

*Pytheas: (4th century BC) correctly asserts that tides are related to the phases of the moon.

A brief list of such scientific details which no one of the time could possibly have known are –

 Roundness of the earth (Isaiah 40:22)

 Almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe (Isaiah 55:9)

 Law of conservation of mass and energy (II Peter 3:7)

 Hydrologic cycle (Ecclesiastes 1:7)

 Vast number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22)

 Law of increasing entropy (Psalm 102:25-27)

 Paramount importance of blood in life processes (Leviticus 17:11)

 Atmospheric circulation (Ecclesiastes 1:6)

 Gravitational field (Job 26:7)
Pls compare the above scientific exploits of the ancient Greeks and the jargon you wrote from the bible. . .Must of what you quoted from the bible have absolutely nothing to do with any scientific explanations at all. . .You are just forcing the passages to say what they are NOT saying. . .I will also give you a list of unscientific stuffs that are to be found in the bible later. . .

Bros, if you can find a way to explain away one or two instances, will yuou be so delusional as to deny that ALL the instances taken together, point clearly to a source of knowledge not available in those times?

We will discuss these in detail later. There is also much more. But let us for now start with prophecy.
I will be back to address all the prophecy stuff. . .

1. Prophecy

2. Archaelogy

3. Corroboration

4. Survival

We can take them one at a time

God is sexless. That he is called "he" in the bible is just a question of language. Also it is not that he speaks trhe human language. It is rather that he can make himself understood in any fashion and to any creature including huimans

Look at this illiterate. . . .so a longer period of daytime amounts to changing the laws of the universe! How foolish and shallow you are. Is it simply because the bible records it as "the sun standing still". . . . . how else do you want an ancient writer to record it? Use ya brain at least for a few seconds a day na? For heaven's sake we have longer and shorter days all over the world even up till now! So what the big deal for God to facilitate a longer day in one instance? That certainly needs no breaking of any law!
A sudden change in sunset which results in a longer period of day time just to make sure that an even is carried out is an act of suspending the laws of nature , no? Longer days and nights do not happen suddenly because there are seasons for them. . .Here is what was written in the bible. .

And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel Joshua 10:13

So there it is from the bible, it says that there was no day like it before or after. . .Meaning it was a very special miracle or event. . .The laws were suspended for just that day. . .Sun was up for a whole day. . .

And you talk about protecting people from burning in a furnance. . . haba, even mankind can do fire-proof na?
But it this case they had no fire proof on and the fire was so powerful that one of the men that stood close to it was written to have died from the intense heat. . .According to the story there were not wearing any fire proof, God was written to have suspended the laws of nature to protect them. . .Any God that can do such a feat can heal amputees, no?. . .

Abeg commot ya brain from inside ya yansh before you come dey follow me dey yarn

Africans are not religious. Africans are simply superstitious. For Africans south of the sahara, the part of the brain that is responsible for logical reasoning and healthy sceptism is immasculated from infancy and therefore rarely manifest in adulthood even with some education. Most africans live in fear all of their lives, so it becomes a matter of necessity to substitute precolonial superstitions ( i.e ancesteral spirits protect me) with newer or more trendy superstitions( jesus or holy spirit protect me). As for religion, especially christianity, far majority of african dont really understand it and dont care to understand it except for the supersttitious aspects of it. Thats why precepts of Jesus regarding meekness, tolerance and love are sidelined by the new age churches in favour of miracles(superstitions) and properity(greed), deliverance from the devil(fear) and damnation to those who do not follow(wickedness).
The abundance of religious houses in every street corner is evidence of the fear, not religiousity. every one feels that they must belong somewhere to protect them from both real and imaginary obstacles they face in the very complex and sad economic , social and political realities of the modern world.
lacking political and economic stability, quality education and any rigid or codified philosophical system, Africvans seem to be the most handicapped in adapting and coping with modern life.
Why Do i need to understand the compexity of our universe when its easier for me to believe that an omnipotent diety just snapped his fingers and everything came to be?. Why do I need to understand bacteria and viruses as causes of illness and death when i can just blame witches and evil spirits?

The average Nigerian, for example stands petrified each morning as he contemplates the many challenges that face him each day. Robbery attackes in his home or in his car, robbery inside a bus, accidental discharge from a police rifle, or a stray bullet from a rober's gun, being crushed to death by a moving vehicle on an okada, being crushed to death by a fallen container on the road, being kidnapped or abducted by ritual killers, and the list goes on and on.
So he has no choice but to surrender his spirit, his will and his wallet to any one who can offer him carefully crafted delusions of omnipotent protection and blessings.
Word!!!. . . You have put it very eloquently . .

@Mazaje; Go on the other thread to discuss the "koran [instead of Quran] and hadith part[s]".

Your case today as you are is a pathetic case.

To know how old a Nigerian is, we can ask if he was born independence. If he says no, we know he is less than 52 years old.

We then ask him if he was born before the first military coup. If he says no, we know is not older that 45 years old.

We then ask him if he was born before the end of the civil war. If he says no, we know that he was not until Sometimes after January 13, 1970.

We then ask him if he was born before the coup that ousted "Jack" Gowon, the norther Christian. If he says no. We know that he is 1975 man or later.

we then ask him if he was born before the coup that ousted "Shagari. If he says no, we then say he is from 1984 at the earliest

We then ask him if he was born before Mandela was release from the Robin Island jail. if he says no, we do know that he is younger than 22 years old.

Apply the same landmark event, local or worldwide to the birth of Aisha [ra] and see what you get. The obvious local and then became worldwide today is the beginning of prophetic office of Muhammad [as] and Aisha's fathe Abu Bakr [ra] entering Islam. was Aisha born before her father entered Islam, with the children and wife that entered with him and he divorcing the wife and child who didn't?

The Messenger [as] is more important than Aisha, and there is no where that his actual age is recorded in Quran or Hadith except that he was born on monday [and he fasted on monday], in a year marked by the invasion of Makka with Elephant mounted soldiers led by evil man Abraha in an attempt to destroy the Kaaba.
What is this huh huh huh huh. . . .Pls can you provide any Hadith that says Aisha is not 9 years old when she married mohammed?. . . .Why is the Hadith that was written by Bukhari wrong?. . .

“It is reported from Aisha that she said: The Prophet entered into marriage with me when I was a girl of six … and at the time [of joining his household] I was a girl of nine years of age.”

“Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina. He stayed [alone] for two years or so. He married Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consummated that marriage when she was nine years old.” [3]

Why is this Hadith wrong?. . .Remember it is Bukari, which is considered to be an authentic Hadith. . .
