Whether she is guilty or not will be figured out by the appropriate authorities. But for those teaching us new english as in difference between "due process" and "stealing". let us come down to ordinary terms: If Mr A and Mr B are neighbours. Mr A has goat and Mr B does not, if eventually Mr B plans to eat Mr A's goat and goes to plead with Mr. A who eventually grants him permission to eat it. It can be said that Mr. B followed due process in trying to eat the goat. But a situation where Mr B eat's the goat behind Mr. A's back, without seeking permision nor even informing Mr A in retrospect until another neighbour who saw him raised alarm; it can be said that due process has not been followed. Anyone who says they don't know whether the second scenario which lacks due process amounts to stealing is simply living in self delusion. Hence depending on the situation lack of due process might mean stealing and Etteh's situation if proven to be true is a typical example. |
N-Joy Already judging a man that is only 5 months in government - something is fundamentally wrong with Nigerians.Dont mean to be rude But if every government spend 5months of their tenure doing nothing by a child's 40th Birthday he would have lost 50months of Government diservice and thats equivalent to over 4years. Nigeria is in the sorry state it is because people refuse to ask questions and yes something is fundamentally wrong with Nigerians but not exactly how you mean it. Like Daviddylan will put it, people dont do on-the-job training with the Presidency. |
Just a bit of clarification, the UK operates the parliamentary system and has a prime minister not a president, so that is why Gordon Brown can replace Tony Blair because the party elected Gordon Brown as party leader.Am obviously clear about the above But I don't think what decides whether the electorate votes individual or party is whether the Government is Presidential or Paliamentry. It is rather the Position of the country's electoral laws. Out of curiousity why is it impossible to have independent candidates during election in Nigeria since it is all about the individual. |
I think the supreme court is becoming inconsistent with some of its verdicts and should be careful to avoid sensationalism. The truth of the matter is in Nigeria like Britain we vote Political parties not individuals. So if the Supreme court is working on the assunmption that if the PDP won the last election in River State then whoever is PDP party leader becomes the Governor, then the judgement is in order. That is why Gordon Brown replaced Tony Blair as Prime Minister by default after replacing Blair as party Leader without election. So on that argument replacing Amaechi as Governor without being voted in is right because what the people voted for is PDP and not Amaechi or Omehia!!!!!!! But the inconsistency is, just some months ago when Atiku left PDP we argued that what people voted for was PDP and thus if Atiku has left PDP he looses his position as VP. This same Supreme court said that Atiku's loyalty is to country and not party. Now the question is since Omehia has sworn his loyalty to State when he was sworn in as Governors, is ousting him as PDP party leader in River State enough to oust him as Governor ![]() ??That is the question our Supreme court need to answer in other not to confuse issues. But for those arguing that PDP did not win election, that is a different matter all together as a court does not grant reliefs not prayed for by either plaintiff or defendant. I will not be suprised to hear a re-election in River State if Tonye Princewill wins his case. But Kudos to Celestine Omehia to have stood down regardless the credibility of the verdict. A civilised society respects the apex court order whether it is in our interest or not. |
Still looking for a reason to take him seriously Says one thing and systemically does the exact opposite. Nobody knows what he stands for ![]() ![]() |
BigB1 How you think I am typing garbage and then congratulate Olajimi on being "intuitive" sums up what you want to believe. Its entirely up to you what you choose to believe and I have no problem with that, but what you can't change are the facts on ground. Olajinmi claims there are no cracks in AC, Abubakar Rimi has changed party from AC to PDP while Lai Mohamed keeps singing everyday how AC will not join GNU and their plans of being the main opposition. Tinubu is romancing Yaradua behind the scenes, Audu Ogbeh is romancing Alex Ekwueme behind the scenes while Atiku is on self imposed exile postponing his return date to Nigeria everyday. yet Prof. Olajinmi thinks there are no cracks in AC. May be you guys need to define the meaning of cracks to us. He also likes to fantasize about an immaginary brotherhood that exist between two people who have a court case. Maybe you want Atiku to go to Aso Rock and wage a war against Yaradua before you realise the man Atiku places so much priority on his ambition over brotherhood. People who their arguments and claims are both inconsistent and spurious keep telling us that we are political neophytes who have no clue what obtains in Nigerian politics merely because we don't buy their idea. Politics of Nigeria must be as complex as complex itself. |
lol ;d ;d ;d ;d ;d ;d |
Iyke-D The kind of postulations we hear about Yaradua family or Mentorship of Atiku playing a prominent role in political calculations is simply ridiculous more than anything. If their brotherhood is that serious or if their is any unwritten law (as Prof. Olajunmi will like to think) binding them, Atiku will not be in court today. AC is divided whether to join Yaradua government or not, in fact Abubakar Rimi is the latest to cross carpet from AC to PDP yet the so called brotherhood that exists between Atiku and Yaradua family have not convinced Atiku to withdraw his case. In case you guys do not know the implication of Atiku being in court, if he wins their will be a re-run of election and Yaradua's Presidency will be under threat. (so where is the priority of brotherhood over ambition) |
Mckren, could you please answer the following questions? Not sure your basis for your comparison cos OBJ was twice Nigerian leader but those guys above where Governors. well may I assume that your question bothers on leadership between 1999 -2007. OBJ was head of central government and asuch takes care of the Macro issues (macro economics) of Nigeria. In that regard Nigeria did great, I am not going to bore you with talks about, GDP, Foreign reserve, Debt Management, Inflation control, Bank recapitalization and consolidation etc as I believe you know the monumental success achieved in that area except ofcourse you dont want to admit them. Now the micro issues which affects the man on the streets of Nigeria is where the responsibility of State Governors come in, the FG did their part on this by always giving allocations to State Government. But this Governors instead of developing their States chose to launder the money abroad. The only thing OBJ could further do was to set up a control check which is where the EFCC comes in. The EFCC performed their job deligently but our Governors instead of adhering to the rules and re-adjusting they hid under immunity clause while using their looted funds to fight back by lobbying the media to blackmail the EFCC on spurious claims of "Selectivity" and "Rule of law". What more could OBJ do ![]() ? As far as am concerned, OBJ's sin is placing priority on loyalty to country over loyalty to friends. But then those friends whose toes he stepped on control the media and thus succeeded in Blackmailing him. What is the difference between OBJ and Abacha?Once again it is not clear, your basis for comparison. Abacha was a brutal dictator who no amount of popular pressure could force out of power except death. But OBJ on the otherhand handed over power as an Army General. As President between 1999-2007 their was free media. He allowed the Judiciary to do their job without bribing them or intimidating them, as President his Government lost a lot of cases in court and that took our justice system to a new level. Even the so called third term, OBJ did not dissolve the NASS, he did not attempt to use the Military to remain in power (roots which he would have taken if he meant to remain in power at all cost). It was done through the NASS and when the idea was thrown out he accepted the verdict in good faith. Now if you think making an attempt to change the Constitution through legal means is criminal then those who designed the constitution and made provision for means to change the constitution in that regard are even bigger criminals. As far as am concerned accepting the NASS assembly verdict on third term was the height of Democracy I have seen in this country. Who is responsible for the trouble between Etteh and the senate?Etteh is responsible, because she misappropriated funds. However the crisis lingering is more to Yaradua than OBJ. President Yaradua is simply insincere and self deluded. He thinks Nigerians are fools. Now tell me if it is by mere co-incidence that all of Reps from Katsina are Staunch supporters of Etteh including the Late Safana who was Yaradua's former SSG. You and I know how politics is played in the North. Why is the new administration continues to struggle day after day?Another clear example of President Yaradua's insincerity. He came to power promising servant leadership and zero tolerance for corruption and then went on to appoint a corruption defence lawyer as AGF and Justice Minister. Where on earth does that happen. Just immagine an Italian President promising to tackle mob culture and gansterism in Sicily and Napples but goes ahead to appoint a Mafia defence lawyer as Justice Minister. Where is the Sincerity ![]() ![]() ![]() On independence day this President chose to stand up and address Nigerians, all propaganda to demonstrate his servant leadership. In that address he once again re-assured Nigerians that he will not tolerate corruption yet on the same day his AGF's dodgy letter was busy obstucting justice in London which for all intents and purposes the beneficiaries of that Justice is Nigeria. This is the height of hypocrisy and poor leadership Who is responsible for the trouble in Ibadan?OBJ, this is one of the failures of his regime. Thugery in Oyo and Anambra and he should regret it. What happened to the infrastructure projects in Nigeria during OBJ's regime?Has been addressed in the past Leadership is an invaluable natural talent; it is either you have it or you just don't, absolutely there is no in between. You are entitled to your opinion but you can not at least tell me one leader in the History of Nigeria who has done better than OBJ. |
I promise to do you an exclusive response latter today, as I am a bit busy now Just stay tuned, |
Iyke-D Ignore Babasin, he is reknowned to be a world-class expert in OBJ bashing. Obasanjo does not have great image because he took difficult decisions a true leader takes, he did not even care about lobbying the media (the Obaigbenas) to launder his image because he was a man on a mission with clear vission acting on conviction for what is right for his country. Anybody has the right to make of OBJ's legacies whatever they like, but for me every passing day I find more reasons to prefer his Government to this present administration full of deciet. |
BigB1 That a man subscribe to your view does not mean he understands politics more than anyone. Wherever you go their will always be those who subscribe to your values and those who oppose it. But all are politicians and understand the rudiments. Besides that I do not also agree that President Yaradua is not a deciever as under his 6months regime I have seen the height of deception. |
BigB1 Atiku will celebrate his 61st birthday on 25th November, by 2011 he will be 65 and by 2023 he will be 77. Just reminding you cause not sure why you are emphasizing on Atiku being young. |
No businessman in the world will sponsor that project when there are air-crafts scattered all over the globe, reason being. He will not make any money re-inventing the wheel. But Government on the otherhand need to encourage that guy because for the mere fact that he has the technological know-how means it could encourage local manufacturing of aircraft or automobiles. Do you see the disparity here, while the Businessman's priority is making profit that of Government is encouraging local manufacturing in other to create long term wealth and employ labour. Government needs to take the lead in R& in Nigeria if we are to get anywhere. There is no point calling people's opinion stupid when they have a valid point more than you. |
Or do I need to remind you who have lasting memory that the case was investigated by NASS who recommended sanctions on Atiku and absolved OBJ of wrongdoing. |
Atiku had cheques implicating everyone who opposed him then, He had cheque against OBj, when Osuntokun spoke he had cheque against him, when El-Rufai spoke he had cheque against him. I was literarily waiting for cheque implicating Gani Fawenhinmi in the PTDF saga cause they had cheque implicating everyone. So even a fool knew what to make of Atiku's cheques. If they produce cheques, they should remember that it can be verified by the court from Bank transaction history going from the Person's account to OBJ's account. These Governors will do more than cheques to confirm that they released money to anyone at the instance of OBJ. |
And you don't know that any person mentioned, whether justly or unjustly, by a suspect facing investigation will be questioned to ascertain the veracity of such claims or otherwise. That a man was questioned in the cause of someonelses investigation does not make him culpable. These Governors are becoming desperate and are willing to use anything within their Arsenal to regain freedom. All the Governors claiming they gave OBJ money for third term have forgotten that they need proof to implicate OBJ, they also forget that by making such claim they are simply admitting that they diverted funds meant for other purposes. |
Was OBJ questioned as a witness or a suspect ![]() ![]() ?This is the critical question we need to ask, even Tony Blair was a guest of London Met after stepping down as Prime Minister. Ibori is diverting attentions and Nigerians are literarily buying the gimmick. If Ibori is saying he used some of his loot to sponsor third term he is in essence agreeing to the fact that he diverted funds meant for development of Delta State. Maybe he will show Deltans and Nigerians in general what aspect of the constitution compels him to divert state funds for the purpose of politicing. Before it will be ascertained the destination of his loot he will be jailed first for money laundering which he is simply admiting, that is one thing Ibori is yet to figure out. |
Talents like this need to be encouraged, those countries who have made it sponsored Research and Development either through the Military or University. But watch no one will encourage this, our leaders are more interested in wearing flowing robes and eating already made money. |
Nothing seems to please our pseudo-americans these days even when u praise america they are not happy. please I am sorry for incuring your wrath. |
Xanadu why do I have a feeling you have not read the story. Dont mean it in the negative way just curious. |
texazzpete:You know what ![]() ??America is equivalent to heaven and George W. Bush is Alfa and Omega. |
Story!!!!!! When florence ita-giwa is suggesting give and take in resolution of the issue. God knows what she wants to give and take ![]() ![]() ? Ghana-must-go I guess. But why do I have a feeling Etteh has the backing of the President ![]() ![]() The late Aminu Safana who died defending Etteh was Yaradua's SSG from 1999-2003 and has been a close political associate to Yaradua since then. Could it be possible he is singing a different tune from the President ?There were speculations that Jonathan Goodluck was mobilising South-South speakers to vote in favour of Etteh, could the VP also be singing a different tune from the President ![]() ??Under the watch of Mr. President Ahmadu Ali threatened to recall whoever opposes Etteh in the house, is the President also indifferent of that. Why are Nigerians so quick to absolve the C-in-C of any blame on National affairs, I am sorry but all the talk about President Yaradua's honesty exist only on paper. |
texazzpete:http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7048325.stm How about asking questions politely ![]() ![]() ?? |
To be honest Nigerian women should mobilise themselves on a match against Etteh, the woman has brought disrepute to womanhood. She is the first lady to have attained such a exalted office and should have done women proud. |
Dont mind mamajama Maybe if he is CDS Andrew Owoye Azazi, or VP Goodluck Jonathan or IGP Mike Okiro or AVM Paul Dike you will lead the Army, Nigeria, Police or Airforce as the case may be to wipe out your own region ![]() ![]() ![]() May be you need to be reminded that in the Niger-Delta their are also helpless people trying to make ends meet by difficult and legitimate ways. |
Who ever knows Henry Okah or Jomo Gbomo and his colleagues should advice him to bite as much as he can chew Blowing up the third mainland bridge is no longer a strugle for anything but an "act of war" |
But did David Mark offer to step aside to be probed ??Did those who sponsored the N400million story in the Press stand up to give reasons why it is necessary to set up a panel to probe David Mark on the floor of Senate ![]() ![]() If the faceless people behind the allegation of 400million contract could not confidently stand up on the floor of the Senate and defend their allegation, they should forever remain silent. Because at the rate we are going I too can sponsor a newspaper report about even the President of Nigeria, the only way I can be taken seriously is if I am ready to come forward and substantiate my case at the appropriate channels. The antecedents of David Mark does not reflect a man who has a case to answer on this 400million thing. |
Such a sweet boy he was, but a view of him looks like Ribadu

Some interesting quotes by Thomas Sankara from wikipedia Quotes |
all am saying is it is pointless picking up a fight with a fellow Nigerian because of any foreign nation. |
The most curious thing I have seen on nairaland is how some of us have simply alligned themsleves as pro-US or pro-Arab and then throw abuses to their supposedly compatriots no matter the topic of discussion. |
