This is just basic economics, not like I'm selling anything. You don't expect people with old stock to suddenly drop the prices of goods bought at ₦1700/₦1900 simply because there is a ₦200 drop in the price of dollars.

Boss, even with large bank, lead acid battery can still be properly charged and managed very well.
Once you get the basic things right, every other thing takes care of itself.
This issue of comparing LA battery with the Lfp has been discussed extensively some years back in this forum.
George_D has large LA battery bank and he has used it for about 6 years then. Maybe, it's up to 10 years now.
He's one of the founder of this forum and I really learned from his knowledge and I'll always appreciate him.

With regards to George D, it is pertinent to note that big banks of lead acid battery in series is a different ball game to big banks of lead acid battery in a series-parallel connection.

Also the inverter with this combo too plays a big role.

That said, I would not personally recommend big banks of lead acid battery where the energy needs is high.

But as they said each user should know what works best for them, but in my experience the need to use LA battery (especially for a 12v LA battery) where the energy is high is not something I would recommend, especially for 48v system and below.

There is nothing wrong tubular batteries. I've a friend who has used his for 5 years now and they are still waxing strong. He bought them from the right source and he's baby sitting them as well as derating the capacity he's using...
Some people love buying products they're familiar with while some like going for new innovation....
It's a matter of choice.

In small capacity say under 6 batteries, I see nothing wrong too. But if you really need energy to require up to 20, that's where I'll recommend going lithium. I've seen cases of this type of system dying way before their time due to issue mostly related to charging. Most of these large banks like this miss out on proper charging. Going the lithium route would've been a better alternative when you need energy this huge.

Hello.. @all... my growatts 5kva inverter has a max of 22amp(Isc) can i connect it to a pv array of 28amp(isc) since its amps not voltage, and just expect it to extract its 22amps from the 28amps array without blowing things up?

It won't blow up, but I'll tell you what will happen. If the panel is producing less than 22A everything just works normally, but when the production peaks above 22A the inverter will enter error mode and shut down. This can happen as many times in a day until you reduce the input current to less than 22A. So, it is recommended not to exceed the voltage or current rating of the inverter.

Get an additional growatt inverter and connect both in parallel or get an external charge controller to handle the excess PV panels.

My first lifepo4 was gotten in 2019. Battery is still kicking. Dunno if I'll get 3000 cycles, but the performance appear to be the same as in 2019. No regrets.

This analysis is applicable to those who want to freeze their rooms with 16°C temperature.
My parlor AC is 1.5hp consumed 1.2kw and I used it mostly during the day at 20°C.
My room AC is 1hp consumed 1kw and I used it mostly at night with the temperature range of 26°C to 28°C consuming 500w max and I still woke up to see 50 60% of my battery left.
We know how to manage RE.

Let's just say the ones I've seen never broke down as care is often taken to do proper wiring and provide protective device and provide a good electrical earthing. With these in place and proper citing of equipment in well ventilated environment, there is no failure yet.

My Schneider does this. It just goes off. A simple restart brings it up. The earth is bad, checked and the earth resistance is 15 ohms. My area is tiled. Still had to break that beautiful tile to fix this earth issue

Most UPS are modified sine wave inverters. That's just the major minus. Every other thing na plus.

I quite understand the basics of electricity and I'm moderately comfortable with small DIY projects. I've just never been in a position to top balance a cell before hence my question to experienced bosses like you.

To be sure I understand well(I'm a slow learner), the converter will convert my 12/24v charger(input) to any adjustable voltage(output) of my choice?

Also, does this converter work like a DC transformer?

The DC-DC converter I showed in the original post has input voltage range of 5-40V and adjustable output voltage range of 1.2-35V

DC-DC converter as the name implies converts DC voltage to another value of DC voltage. Most of the converters has a fixed output voltage eg 12V to 5V converter eg your car phone charger. But in this instance I found the type that one can manually change the output voltage. So to quote you it is sort of a "DC voltage transformer".

If you don't, have basic knowledge of DIY, you may need someone that does, for this.

Lemme still explain how this should work. To top balance batteries means to charge batteries in such a way that all the batteries are equally charged to the same voltage.

To make this happen, you'll have to connect all the cells in parallel and charge till the charging current goes to zero.

To connect this DC -DC converter, your charger is the input, and the output (after adjusting voltage to 3.4v) goes to the cells you want to balance.

Find attached the LiFePo4 cells being connected in parallel pending top balancing.

Please do not attempt any of this stuff by yourself if you don't have the basic knowledge of batteries connection and electricity.

Charge in series with your regular charger until battery is full. Remove charger and parallel your LiFePo4 batteries.

Get a cheap DC-DC adjustable converter and you are good to go. Use your regular 12v or 24v external charger as input. Add a small fan if the converter runs hot.
