have you purchased Samsung phone from aliexpress before? is it worth giving a try?

When buying expensive items such as phones, drones, and other items likely to be "confiscated" by our crazy customs, I use third party shippers to avoid the 50/50 percent chance of items getting missing, "seized" aka stolen by "rats" in customs, or having to pay high ridiculous amount of money as duty.

Also I have found that the shipping of these items by the third party shippers are often competitive with the amount the sellers are willing to add as their shipping cost.

The only phone I ever bought from AliExpress and shipped by AE (which arrived Nigeria without any issue or duty) was a Xiaomi Note 3 phone some years back. Back then Xiaomi was not a known brand in Nigeria, and luckily customs guys are not as aggressive as they are now on things imported from China.

After that, most my phone purchases are often done either from the USA or other countries but with shipping done by third party shipping agents.

It may be network. Try again. It may just go, if it didn't, you may need to visit the bank to check if there is any issue.

It's very annoying to get sellers that don't respond to chats. I test sellers before I buy, I often send them chat and ask if the goods are available. If you take days to respond, I no go buy from you. Lol

Most free DHL shipping never arrive as seller will never ship. Lots of stores like that on AliExpress so be careful, read reviews before u try such stores. Las las na dispute go end am.

NB: If u get such and after u get a tracking number nothing happens on the delivery process, just initiate dispute after 10days of no activity, don't waste time waiting for buyer protection to end.... My 2 kobo...

Funny the package I received this weekend has free DHL shipping. But dude told me to cancel the transaction and order again as he can't use DHL. Told him to use other method (I can't just burn $40 again...limit not smiling grin

) The package I ordered is $40. I know there's no way he'll ship it with DHL when $40 was the lowest price I got for the item when I searched AE. Told the seller to ship with another method that I don't mind that I can't reorder it. He sent it with another method but still updated AliExpress with DHL number and dmed me the real tracking. grin

I once had ringing in my ear some while ago. Googled symptom and got tinnitus as likely cause. Omo I nearly got a heart attack the more I googled it. Do not google your symptoms, when in doubt or having any health issue visit your doctor. I did visit the doctor, luckily he didn't even mention tinnitus grin

Thankfully, few days later I was ok; no more ringing noise. Had to order ear plug for use when around noisy machines and people. Man gotta protect his hearing cool

1. Why do products from aliexpress come under different local companies in nigeria when shipped and how will I know which company to go to/will fall under in nigeria when ordering from aliexpress

2. A product I ordered through "aliexpress standard shipping" came under speedaff, while a product I ordered again through "aliexpress standard shipping", when I called speedaff, they told me it's nipost..I'm confused, how will I know where they will come under?

I ordered for a product that came since the 3rd of this month, but I'm yet to get a call or text.. when I called a person that works for speedaff, he told me it's nipost

1) I think the sellers randomly chose the logistics to use. Or they just post and the logistic firm decide on which one to use to send.

Your item is going to be delivered by the NIPOST. Of late, I've noticed goods shipped by NIPOST takes longer compared to speedaf. But I'm sure you'd receive your item. Just chill.

Used products are sourced from a lot of countries. But often it is better if you have an inside man inside those countries. Eg China, Dubai, the USA, etc all have loads of used electronics for sale such as laptops and phones.

You need the inside man to verify the fairly used item is as described by seller before you'll end up with a worthless beautifully packaged electronic.

Shenzhen is a great place to get a bargain on fairly used or refurbished electronics. For items such as toys, jewelries, garments, accessories, etc check out the Yiwu city in China.

Sites such as Alibaba, 1688, etc are great. But you will get it cheaper if you have a plug right in these cities or you visit the city yourself.
Getting your package via post is not hard. Just fill your address correctly in the space for address with the correct zip code (you can google this for your location). The logistics will ship to the nearest post office and you'll be notified via phone call or text to pick up your item.

To avoid custom issues or crazy duty, I'll suggest you buy from Alibaba and use third party shippers. Custom fees are often crazy (dependent on type of phone ordered). Nigerian custom have a h@rdon when they see Apple devices. Have had a friend pay ₦71k in duty when he bought a MacBook and iPhone 11 from the US.

I've bought Xiaomi from China with no custom issues. But buying without third party shipping is often taking a risk as you may very likely pay exorbitant duty.

Thanks for taking out time to advise me, the shipping fees at aliexpress at very outrageous for the fine clothing, I don't think I can handle that.
I should just stick to buying at Onitsha main market, I have already gone there once to buy my personal wears, maybe I can make good business partners.

That's another way to go. I only buy things that are cheaper to buy in China, or often the case not even available in Nigeria. I often have need for things you just can't get here. But if I can get it here, it is better you buy here - at least no USD wahala, no logistics headache, no custom issues, no long wait, etc. Another way you may get the same quality of clothes cheaper than sold by our guys at Onitsha or Idumota is by buying a container of such material and getting it shipped down.

Those guys buy in such large volume that Chinese sell it to them very cheap. Then they ship it down via sea at a heavy discounted cost. Eg a bale of cloth which is approximately 1CBM can come down to as low as ₦120,000 each or less when shipped via container.

I want to start a mini clothing business as I am in School and I want to start buying clothes from Aliexpress, so I need to know how reliable the sellers are to avoid scams and how long will it take before these clothes get to me.

I'll advise you go to Alibaba instead. But this requires more work. You'd have to do massive research on the seller you want to buy from. After that, you will also need to get a third party shipper. But at the end of the day, you will buy the product cheaper and make more profit. But what you can also go the route of AliExpress, there are many sellers with good reviews, take your time to read reviews as some reviews are fake. Check the number of sales vs the reviews. Check the date the reviews are made, it becomes suspicious when you see like 30 reviews done on the same day grin

Also do test buy (buy one to see quality as seeing is believing). Once it's the quality you want fire down. But the truth is that clothes at AliExpress is already expensive plus the crazy shipping that some of them has.

Buying online requires a lot of work. Eg I once researched for four months before I bought a particular battery charger from China. I've used that charger for two years now without issues, as usual it wasn't that cheap. Well made Chinese products are hardly dirt cheap. Chinese ain't fools. Those dirt cheap products are often pure garbage. But not surprising, that's the type most Nigerian importers buy as they stand to make more profit.

You can fund it from buying dollars from the parallel market (BDC) or receiving dollar payment from someone.

To open a dorm account, same procedure with naira account but just with added feature of having to bring two references from two current account holders. The two current account holders may have account domiciled with GTB or outside GTB. You can get current details simply by visiting the branch and making enquiries from the customer service desk. It's not hard to open one, small mini importers just don't want to as it's costlier to source dollars from parallel market.

Of course there's always charges on every account (both naira or dollar). That's part of how the bank's make all those billion naira profit which they declare every quarter grin

Nah, limit still $100/month for naira denominated account. I've had someone make payment of $2k+ with twenty plus cards. You only need a seller willing to split the order 20+ ways grin
