I'm a lil confused here. I don't get the timeline of this event. Did you first give someone going to the USA the package, and this person used UPS to ship it?

One bad review can cause you guys to lose thousands of business. But of course, a typical arrogant Nigerian entrepreneur will ignore this bad review and pretend as if they aren't seeing it. Settle the dude you guys are owing if you still plan on doing any business in NL.

Honestly most of these guys abroad are scammers, they open shipping companies to use and scam people here in Nigeria. Very bad!

Writing some government agencies about their fradulent act may make their lives not as cosy as they'll like.

This has been almost a trend with most trusted startup business in Nigeria. They'll start off very good. People will trust them after a while and then BAM without warning they'll go rogue.

I'll advise OP to institute a court action against them, $1639.47 is some serious capital. He should not let it slide, their arrogance is often one seen in con artists, who often think they are invisible after defrauding their victims.

How can one know the rates.

I need dollar rate for Access, GTB, Stanbic and UBA.

The surest way is to buy something with their card. Another way is to contact the customer care, but most of the agents may give you a wrong rate.

There is this item that I needed urgently. It was initially on Speedaf but soon it was changed and was unfortunately lumped with others in "combined shipping" under Singapore Post.

So because of the urgency, I re-ordered but ensured I didn't make any other orders until two days after it was shipped to make sure it won't be changed from speedaf and lumped with any new order under Singapore Post.

Well, it has arrived and I've taken delivery of it. Meanwhile the first one that was lumped as "combined shipping" with others on SingPost is still moving like a slug, with no sign of it in the horizon.

I remember the days of fast SG post shipping. These days na wahala.

I have become very skeptical of the product and seller ratings on Aliexpreess as a result of the picture attached.

I know the product should be fake, as that price is impossible, but how come the seller has a 96% rating and the product is rated excellent.

There are ways to spot fake reviews in AliExpress.

First check the number of sold items vs the number of reviews. They claimed to have sold 158 items but have about 56 reviews...looks fair but that ain't so. If you look at the buyers that really left a review and not just blank 5 stars, you'll notice that they are fewer than 20. Out of that twenty it just happened to be from a particular region...UK. The others are just 5 stars with zero written review...which is often a pointer to "how fake do you want it" in reviews


After that, check the date of the reviews. Most range from 22 Aug to 25th August and they appear all to be from the UK!

Also watch the writing pattern/language used in the reviews. Each review is just a sentence or at most two. They are very vague.

The last red flag is the obvious typos, crazy specs with downright dirt cheap pricing.

Scammers often make their pitch so dull or simply unbelievable so that anyone who actually believes it must have pretty low IQ or just plain greedy. Lol

Most items (even if it's not a mobile phone) has some payment charged ranging from ₦200 to ₦1000 if routed via the post office. But if you get lucky and Speedaf are the guys delivering it, you'll get it for free.

That one is never a problem, the problem is the crazy custom duties

Free shipping by AliExpress sellers means they won't add extra cost for shipping. Mind you, some free shipping are not really free. Some sellers just add the cost of shipping to the item's cost. Hence it appears as if the shipping is free.

So, AliExpress won't charge you further for shipping, but you still stand a huge chance of paying high custom duty, which has nothing to do with AliExpress, but with our ever unpredictable Nigerian customs who often attach high custom duties on most mobile phones.

You may get lucky and not get charged. No one can really tell if you may or may not be charged. A trial will surely be the best way to find out. Cheers

Called this guy again and he denied receipt of package, meanwhile, it's been confirmed delivered on their app and AliExpress app too. Until I reached out to Lagos before I got my items o.
