RomanceRe: Getting Married In 2 Months - Why Does He Distrust Me So Much? by Meddler(f): 11:28am On Oct 31, 2012
I'm sorry but I have little confidence in our ability as human beings to completely turn over a new leaf after we are set in our ways. In essence once an abuser (no need to sugar coat things here) always an abuser. He's already made it clear to you that blood will spill if he caught you cheating and believe me that's a promise he will keep. I've worked with domestic violence victims and have seen how victims are killed by their abuser even after they have left them. A previous poster already listed the 5 signs of an abuser and he has all of that. Pls do not postpone the wedding. Just leave (I usually recommend communication but not in this case). It wud only get worse. The best thing you can do is be honest with urself. Once you are, you will know the right thing to do.
For your sake, I hope you do the right thing at least uve seen the signs not many ppl are that lucky.

PoliticsRe: Fashola, Obi Disagree On Geo-political Zones, Constitutional Amendment by Meddler(f): 7:30am On Oct 19, 2012
I'm with Fashola. He is one of the few governor who is really honest with himself and the populace. The problem isn't with the law or constitution but the people. Once we learn to change our mindset we will realize that the constitution and law in place serves our needs.

In the meantime I could be less bothered with the constitution. I'm more concerned about having good roads, steady light, clean running water, controlled food prices, getting paid so I can afford to meet my basic needs.

At the end of the day what we need most is a govt that works not these bunch of blowhards!

I had a hard time reading your response but I will try and answer ur question. The oil money is indeed shared by the entire country which again is our number one problem. Our over reliance on oil and not developing other sectors. State shud be able to sustain themselves hence no need to depend on oil money.

Back to the OP- the policy only applies to commercial drivers. A private citizen does not have to register. In the US for example, if you relocate to a new State (that is plan on leaving in that State) you are required to get a new license plate number and driver's license. If you are stopped by the cops and still have ur old driver's license and not considered a visitor you could be fined for that. Because it is considered an offence. But then again they have very good databases and information management system which we severely lack in this country. Which is why I believe it was only limited to commercial drivers or those wishing to use their vehicles for commercial purposes.

Gaiden k: The presidency is weak,so governors do what they want,Fashola is a Dictator in the federal rep of eko ile
Its so sad that's how you perceive the issue. This is how States shud be ran - autonomously. Fashola is running the State like it ought to be. The Federal Govt cannot be every where at once and cannot monitor every single State. That's the problem we are having in this country. Every State is expecting a handout from the FG without thinking about how their State can contribute to the growth of the Nation. Imagine Nigeria with our population and not a single State is self sustainable. That's quite sad.
My point is that States are allowed to adopt their policies as long as it is within the framweork of the Constitution. Technically the only thing wrong with the new traffic law is that It does not specify a length of time required before one is considered a resident of the State.

djkaneo: a tithe of 35million.....that's 10% of 3.5billion!!! Where does he work....FORT KNOX?
Abi oooooo. Seriously receiving such an amount shud have warranted some questioning from the clergy men. It wasn't 1 million or 3 million. But a whopping 35 million. Seriously eh? In naija of all places where philantrophy is only used as a means to an end. Deductive reasoning shud have told him something was up or he shud asked more questions.
PoliticsRe: EFCC To Arrest Priests Over Atuche’s N45 Million Tithe by Meddler(f): 8:59pm On Oct 04, 2012
Your point is understandable still you failed to realize that big churches like catholic church redeem etc that has a lots number of top men do receive tithes of 1billion naira talk of 45million.
True talk but such an amount is traceable. You can't stuff that amount into the tithe envelope or drop it off in front of the priest door anonymously.

RomanceRe: My Girlfriend To Be Eats Too Much by Meddler(f): 9:57am On Oct 01, 2012
Ok to summarize ur post you complain that ur girl eats too much because she eats three square meals a day. As per ur statement you said you have never dated a girl who eats three square meal so according to you eating 3 square meal is eating too much. You haven't quite told us what she eats and her portion size. Does she consume two cups garri, 3 cups of rice, etc all by herself. Again I'm assuming she's of moderate size so either this is how she's been eating or she just developed this habit. If the former is the case then no need to worry about that (I have a friend who eats more than me and she's skinnier than me. Go figure)

So give us more information and maybe we can help u out. But from ur statement I don't see anything wrong with a human being with a healthy appetite :-/

No lunch after eating all this minor things. My stomach compartments has no more memory left for lunch.

Please I would love to join. I'm currently embarking on a weight loss journey too and would love to loose 10kg by Nov/Dec. I was thinking 10kg in a month until I did the conversion to lbs which I'm more conversant with(22lbs)and it is quite unrealistic. My objective is to limit my carb intake. Which is what has gotten me to this position. With time, I have to build up strength and endurance. Right now, I want to focus more on eating more veggies and fruit. I think that's very doable.
I actually came across an easy exercise program I can easily follow. So I'll try and stick to it.
For now, I'll focus more on my eating habit because I need to work on it. Loading up on good fats, complex carbs, fruits, veggies and protein.
P.S. I'm a foodie so I'll be creating some healthy meals and look forward to sharing it with everyone.

Cucumber, chickpea salad

Ingredients
* 1 Cucumber (cored and diced)
* 1 Onion (diced)
* 2 tbsp low fat Italian salad
* 50 g. Feta cheese
If you leave in Abuja, you can get feta cheese from the big supermarkets dairy section and it cost less than 500 naira.

Combine everything in a bowl along with 2 tbsp of the dressing. You can always adjust the dressing to your taste but won't suggest u exceed 2 tbsp. The dressing also packs some calories and fats. Refrigerate and let the flavors come together.

Enjoy for a light dinner or lunch.
N.B.
U can also do away with the feta cheese (it's quite salty) and just prepare with the remaining ingredients.
Canned chickpeas can be found in big supermarkets. Depending on what supermarket in Abuja u go to, u can find it for around 180 - 250 Naira.

wizb: @meddler, I stay in abuja and I just decided to go natural. Last time I relaxed my hair was April. My natural hair is about two inches now and I'm really finding it difficult to comb. I just started to deep condition and I'm hoping it would help my hair. Please let me know where you get your hair products in Abuja. Thanks.
I use just any regular shampoo for my hair. My staple conditioner, I got from the United stated so far haven't found it in naija. For moisturizing, I use my shea butter mix (shea butter, coconut oil, argan oil and castor oil). Off course you can make ur own shea butter mix with any oil you have available- coconut oil, olive oil or castor oil. It gets my hair very soft. I get my shea from the market close to my house. You can visit any of the market for shea butter and the rest of d ingredients. Hope that helps.
HealthRe: Sleeping Paralysis: Share Your Experience by Meddler(f): 6:00pm On Sep 10, 2012
I experience it constantly. Especially when I'm laying on my back. I just switch my sleeping position when it happens. I understand it so its not as scary anymore. My only annoyance now is the hallucinations. Thinking I'm awake when I'm really not. Which I figured out but I guess my mind has found another way to trick me.

What nonsense 3 of her children in strategic posts. I held her in such high regards. She knows very well that this is unacceptable. She's not different from all these dictators that were thrown out of office. She's running d country as her family business.

Denise216: I couldn't find anything wrong with your initial post and we can assume that most readers got the gist. You're a class-act too, taking the critiques in stride and staying a lady-I admire that. Good Luck finding people with natural hair in common and quiet as its kept, a Nigerian Natural Hair Expo, if planned carefully and in enough advance, would be HUGE ($$$). You seem to have a level head, I say make it happen.

I don't have a ceremonial story or anything. I cut it off in 99 and again in 2004 and never relaxed again. I just it cut UP TO the waist in June. I can't handle more than that and the longer it got the harder it was to style. Now I just wash, condition, detangle. blowout, and pin it up. Still 6 hours of work but during the week I don't have to do anything else but tie it down. The best times were when my hair was around my shoulders. I had more options and time back time then.

Good Lucksmiley
Thank you Denise. I'm actually aiming for bra length. But knowing my laziness towards my hair, I might end up sticking with all that hair for a few months hahahaha.
You are right a natural hair expo in Abuja would do well. I got my idea wheels spinning. It would really be an avenue for other newly naturals or those hoping to start the journey get support and ideas.

hannydarl: My hair now. Was cut like 4inches short in december and as at today before washing. This is what it looks like though it curls back to half this length when washed.
It looks so nice and fluffy. Do you braid/twist after wash and detangle?

girlsupersonic: Bt the hair you loose might be like you didnt gain much length. Its risky. @meddler was your hair relaxed as at the time you took the picture?
Nope my hair au naturale and it wasn't straightened either. Imagine if I was more conscious of retaining rather than just growing hair. My hair wud have been waist length by now.
Anyway I'm back on d bandwagon. Washed my hair on Sunday and can't get over how soft my hair is. Its ridiculous. I should deep condition more often. I made my own DC consiting of Conditioner, honey, argan oil, shea butter and castor oil. Mixed everything up and left it on my hair for 30 mins. Amazing results!

girlsupersonic: Natural hair is nice but those i c it on are usually so conservative so people just look down on them. Iv bin transitioning for 20mths now, i style mine very differently and its bin both fun and frustratin but my hair is growing like weed! No body knows much about transitioning in Naija so my hair is a mystery lol. They kip askin if im natural or not. @meddler you must organize something for Lagos too after Abuja o.
grin I'm hoping enuf ppl express interest in it. It wud be fun meeting up.

yogun: i have been natural since dec, did d BC last wk, i live in lagos and have been using more shea butter. wld appreciate more good hair products advice.
One of the best thing that has happened to my hair since I relocated back home is having all these natural products at my finger tips. My staple hair cream is shea butter (raw) mixed with all natural coconut oil freshly pressed (you can smell the coconut) and Argan oil (got that during my vacay in Morocco). The most expensive product in all that I mentioned is the Argan oil. Everything else cost me less than N500. You can't beat that price. Find a good conditioner and shampoo. I tried Afro hair shampoo and conditioner and it was not bad at all. Although the best conditioner have used so far has been the Tressemme (sp.) Moisturizing conditioner. It is the bomb. But I haven't sighted it since I came back home. I still place orders for it from the States. I'm trying to get all my products locally because it saves money and effort in d long run. I even heard that black soap is good for the hair. But you probably have to hunt down the real stuff not the commercialized ones.
Hope this little bit of info helps.

hannydarl: Abi o. A natural hair convention in Abuja every one come with your hair maintanance product let's share Idea and styling tips.
Brillant! That makes two of us I'm based in Abuja too. That will be so cool. This is a pic of hair as of May 2012 (I straightened my hair and lost a lot of hair in the process. So its no longer this long sad) . I was actually shocked to see it that long. I usually don't do length check. My hair grows fast (I just realized that) but I'm very bad at retaining length. The key to growing long healthy hair whether relaxed or natural is retaining growth. African hair grows but we manipulate our hair so much that we end up sacrificing length.

FashionRe: Natural Hair by Meddler(op): 4:26am On Aug 05, 2012
I'm sorry if I offended anyone. That was not my intention. I believe its up to you how you decide to wear ur hair. I created this topic as a support thread for other naturals (yes you have to differentiate it). The fact is that most of us b4 going natural had little or no clue about natural hair maintenance. Its not easy and to be honest can be a bit fustrating. So for those willing to share their experiences pls keep em coming. I've been natural for 5 yrs but keep learning new things everyday. P.S. I think a natural hair gathering in naija wud be a nice way to meet fellow naturals.
