Yield: When I went natural, the first few months were actually quite easy for me. Natural hair is easier to maintain when it's shorter. It only becomes a little difficult when your hair starts getting longer. The major issues I had back then were with knots and finding the right products for my hair. But thankfully, not anymore. I especially love deep conditioning now. I used to hate deep conditioning because I felt it wasn't doing anything for my hair and I just thought it wasn't needed. There were times when I didn't even do it at all, lol. Now that I've found a good deep conditioner - a protein deep conditioner, I now know the importance of it because it really strengthens my hair. Some people's hair responds better to moisturizing dc-ing, some to protein, so what you stick with depends on how your hair feels afterwards. Yea, natural hair's a bit of work at first, but it does get easier once you find what works for you. I'm still learning too though. There's always something to learn. =pThe short hair phase was easy. But I got to that awkward stage where my hair was in between length. It wasn't long enuf to style appropiately and quite short to do anything meaningful (did I mention I am style challenged). Anyway I still had a hard time finding gud products for my hair. But I eventually settled on a routine. I used to be a DC person but now I find it too time consuming. I just wash and condition. I found out that my hair actually strives when I leave it alone. So I adhere to minimal manipulation. Just twist at night and in the morning I unravel it. I need to stay away from heat. It really does a number on my hair. |
Oops I meant "if you want to go fully natural" ![]() |
I mean unprocessed hair. If I want to go fully natural. I won't lie to you it is usually a difficult struggle in the first few months because ure learning how to take care of ur new texture and you can't treat ur natural hair like relaxed hair. It seems like you got a good routine down. I'm not as dedicated these days which has cost me. I have to sit up otherwise I'll wake up bald one of these days ![]() |
Wud like to connect with natural hair sistas in Abuja or any where in naija. We are a rare breed to all the brazilian hair, indian hair, peruvian hair chicks. If you are proud of ur heritage and embrace ur "naturalness" then come in and let's hang for a while. Tell us what works for ur hair and ur hair routines (if you have any). Looking forward to ur responses. |
Ur bro is making it rain oooo. Can he be my bf ahahahahahahaha. Joking abeg hehehehe But seriously ur brother is quite stupid and the girl lacks conscience. Its not like he has a PT job that he does. Abegi if you won't slap him, I don't mind dng it for you. He deserves to be slapped some sense into him. |
Thanks Missy! |
please can you send me a copy kolis_2000@yahoo.com |
Yawn. Next story pls. Na today? Haven't we seen this before and yet nothing, nada, zilch comes out from it. Well lemme wait and hear how much is being allocated to this Task force sha. Dis one na anoda money chopping venture. |
It does that's how a friend of mine did it. Her husband was incarcerated at the time she got hers and she didn't want to go through the hassles of contesting and all the stuff that goes with a divorce. Her lawyer filed the case in court and placed an ad in the papers for 30 days. Once the 30 days were up she was a free woman. |
I don't think you have to go to that extent. Have you tried asking a lawyer in the US. Can't remember what d process is called but essentially since d other party is absent you can put an ad in d newspaper which wud run for 30 days. If no response, the judge grants you d divorce. You might want to look into that and figure out if it applies in ur situation. A friend of mine went thru that route. |
Really this is how we show our intellectual capabilities by comparing Michelle Obama to GEJ? The last I checked Michelle is still the first lady and GEJ the president? Why on earth shud we be comparing the two? I'm completely speechless. You know what? No I can't anymore pure BS |
So I tune in this morning to a segment discussing the escape of the Boko Haram terrorist in police custody and one of the guest states that in a modern world there would have had camera following them around to document their movement and that the suspect would never be allowed to join the police in searching his house. That got me thinking in all sense of the word and being pragmatic would you consider Nigeria part of the modern world? |
dublinkmy6 for any other place that's not naija I will agree with ur point because it makes sense. But since this is naija and knowing that naija officials can't think past their pockets, I'll have to disagree with you. I no longer underestimate their ineptitude or blatant stupidity. |
When I think about the current govt and ppl here who support these kind of decision made by the govt I tend to think of the movie Idiocracy (2006) with Luke Wilson where he wakes up 500 yrs into the future and finds out that dumb ppl have out bred intelligent ppl. Is that what happened in naija? |
I no need am. The dress is nice but not the person wearing it. I mean look at her arm. It looks like twigs. The others look fine |
Someone give Angelia a sandwich. She looks disgusting. Seriously is this what's considered sexy these days? she looks emaciated. Yuck! |
Oh lookie lookie. Clap for urself Deep Sight. Apparently spelling and grammar are now one and the same. I'm glad you passed through 6 years of secondary school and x amount of yrs at tertiary education. Mumu |
Lwkmd! I no fit laugh anymore. This presido don kill me ohhh. |
Someone said it was scandalous hahahahahah lwkmd! Like Nigerians know the meaning of that word. We no get shame for naija oooo! If the woman get shame she no carry her 4mil handbag come display for tv. Na today?! |
Pls who wrote this letter? I can hardly understand the point he's getting across with all the grammatical errors. Please seize and desist from writing anything for public viewing. |
Don't even get me started on that Vision crap. Nigeria of the 90's is way better than this year. The only difference is internet and GSM. |
Lonamy are you sure we reside in the same country? Dis is a president that spends 1 billion naira on food alone and the VP spends close to 2 billion plus naira on travels and stationery. I'm sure you have a generator in ur home and buy water and oh yes the road in front of ur house is unmotorable. Or is it the fact that maternity or mortality death is on the rise. Or the fact that he found it so hard to implement the 18k minimum wage but was so eager to raise the salary and allowances of his 2 special advisers. I mean the list is never ending. Shud I go on? So I ask again what part of dis country do you leave in so I can join you. |
Hello calling all cooks. I think it will be fun if everyone could post pics of their homemade goodies. It could be anything you just whipped up under the spur of the moment. Let's have some fun with our goodies ![]()

So is this it? Has the govt squashed all d fight out of us? |
Nigeria's case is on a different level. We are ignorant and choose to remain ignorant regardless of the fact. I came back to Nigeria for my NYSC and the response I got when I wore my hair the first day to my place of primary assignment was ridiculous. Ppl were just shocked that I wore my hair naturally another lady approached me with her advice which was kinda funny given the state of her own hair. My mom is constantly on my case too. But as I say if you find my hair so offensive, don't look at it. Its my choice and its not changing anytime soon. |
I'm curious if they found out their bank acct info. What's the money still dng in there? I'm guessing they got the info through improper means right? I guess the best thing to do is share out the goods to the masses. P.S. I'm not suggesting anything illegal just saying whatever means was applied shud equally be applied again and get the kudi out there |
So Boko Haram that's actually killing ppl gets Amnesty. While ppl loving themselves in their private home gets 14 years in jail. I can totally see how that makes sense. So in essence the LGBT group has held this country hostage since last year. Mehn dis senate dey try ooooo. And here I was thinking that I was supposed to be more wary of Boko Haram instead of the LGBT community. I definitely had my fears misplaced. So here is to all you men who enjoy dancing with each other in straight clubs or guys walking down the street and holding hands. I've got my eyes on you. Next time I see two guys dancing in a club when there are babes plenty I'm going to jeje walk out of the club and report you to the first officer I see. |
I don't think black women perm/straighten their hair out of self hate. They perm because we are not aware of alternatives. I used to perm but now fully natural for 4 year now. Best decision I made. But before then I really didn't think I had any other option apart from perming. I remember my mom perming my hair and burning it in the process because she wanted the hair well done. I had to wear a cap to school for a week. But the thing is proper education about our hair is seriously lacking. Naija parents especially are clueless about their kids hair. I sit at church every Sunday and see the sad state of our children's hair. Half of these kids are not even up to 4 years old and already have receding hairlines from braiding or fixing (yea I said fixing). I weep for them really. This is the reality on ground. Few years from now said child wud have been put through the system of relaxing. Pls tell me how she's supposed to know an alternative if that's the only thing she was thought about hair. I'm still learning till today the dos and donts of my hair. I've cut it 3 times in the past year due to bad maintenance. But again going natural is the best thing I did. |
Shea butter unrefined. I've been using it for a year and everyone says I'm getting lighter. Even family members. That was not my intention of course. But it brightens and tones the skin. All natural and inexpensive. |
I couldn't do it over d phone otherwise I wud have done it. I need to do it at one of their offices and they were closed at the time I called. The $150 I can handle. Anything more than will be quite expensive. And the flight is with Arik air. |
Pls I need assistance. I applied for a one month SA visa and instead got a 3 months visa with multiple entry and not to 30 days per entry. I had someone buy my ticket and the person got and paid for a ticket exceeding 30 days by 5 days. Now I'm trying to switch the ticket. I called customer service and found that there are 2 seats available and I only pay $150. I can't change the flight today because their office is closed and don't know if the seats will still be available tomorrow. Pls I need assistance or need to know the penalties for exceeding my stay. Thanks. |
