No two ways about it..... Its either POOR BATTLEFIELD LEADERSHIP, POOR TRAINING. or SABOTAGE. Its a given that the Ethiopian armed forces are far better equipped than the rebels. This butt kicking is really head-spinning. |

DubaiLandLord1: - Mount roadblocks, conduct stop and search - Heavy traffic
There is palpable tension in Abuja, FCT, following security reports of a planned attack on the Nigerian capital by bandits and terrorists.
Security reports obtained by the military late Tuesday night indicated that attackers were planning to enter the FCT through the Abuja-Keffi expressway and other entry points.
Troops have been placed on high alert and are deployed to strategic locations where they are mounting security checkpoints to monitor, prevent and arrest any potential attackers.
The soldiers have mounted roadblocks at all entry and exit points into the FCT, and are conducting stop and search operations on specific vehicles and passengers.
The operation, which began midnight Tuesday, is said to have led to the arrest of some suspects who are now assisting the security operatives with useful information, Daily Sun has gathered.
Motorists, especially those who live along the Abuja-Keffi expressway in areas like Kugbo, Karu, Jokwoyi, Orozo, Karshi, Nyanya, Mararaba, One-man village, Masaka, among other satellite towns, are finding it difficult traversing the road as a result of roadblocks mounted by soldiers of the Guards Brigade, who are responsible for the security of the President, his immediate family, VIPs, as well as the FCT and its environs.
Some residents told Daily Sun that they left their homes as early as 6:30 am but are yet to arrive at their places of work.
A military source, who does not want to be identified on print, told Daily Sun that similar checkpoints have been mounted around Abaji, Zuba and Bwari areas to arrest suspects before they gain access into the capital city.
The source said that the invasion of the University of Abuja early Tuesday morning by bandits who abducted some staff members and their families, may not be unconnected to the security measures, with troops in hot pursuit to apprehend the kidnappers.
The source further stated that while authorities are aware of the effect on residents, motorists and other road users of the security points mounted by the soldiers, the security of the FCT and its residents was crucial, asking that the public bear with the temporary inconvenience.
When contacted, the Commander of the Guards Brigade confirmed the security measures at checkpoints by soldiers.
SOURCE I Travelled to Keffi yesterday. Hit the road back to Abuja around 8 this morning. As at 10.38, I was still in orange market area of Mararaba. I had to bike to Karu 700 with abeg. The traffic this checkpoint thing caused today no be here.. The vehicle I boarded don kuku stop for mararaba. |

Whyem15: Every information on ISWAP that I have been seeing in the last few days seem to point towards the group preparing to fight to the last in the next offensive. It will be of great help if the government can get Chad and Cameroon to launch offensives from their own sides at the same time, it will be extremely difficult for the enemy to fight on multiple fronts. Also, NAF should be working with intelligence communities to go after the enemy's important weapons. Soften them up a lot before the offensive begins then they should continue providing CAS.
Lastly, the mistakes of former offensives should not be made, the military should already have plans to consolidate on whatever would be achieved in this offensive to prevent the enemy from ever recovering. Emphasis on inmproved close air support, communications and a means of IFF for the ground troops. ISWAP will most definitely use stolen, captured or smuggled military uniforms and military vehicles that can lay their hands on to try and increase sneak attacks and ambushes. |

IFV...... MRAP...... MBT..... RCWS All are good o.... But.... The MEN are most important. The training and tactics are what are really important in my book.
With the right mix of training, strategy and tactics, even the hiluxes will do wonders.
We can buy all the IFVs in the world and not make enough provision for spares or... Park them INSIDE poorly secured FOBs without fuel and enough ammo(like we do with the equipment book haram destroy or steal)...... Or hand them over to individuals who cant think straight under fire(in am ambudh or base attack). In this scenario, who no get IFV no better pass us? |

Some banks sabi do rubbish. It MIGHT not be an illegal transaction sha, let me give you my experience.
I am the financial secretary of a society in church. I do the withdrawals while the president receives the alert. Sometime in October 2019, I made a withdrawal of 88k from ACCESS BANK branch in Nyanya, Abuja. The debit came, was seen and deleted. Fast forward to December 2019. I went to print out the statement of account to prepare the financial report and, lo and behold, on that SAME DAY I made that transaction, there was a transaction of same amount but FROM KETU, LAGOS and in a different NAME.
The final balance tallies, the transactions tally etc but the name and location.
I take style ask pesin for there how e go be. I was told that I had to write an application then they will investigate... Bla bla bla. I just did my report, explained the discrepancy and recommended we moved to another bank.
So, op, check yourself well well..... It might be the same thing that happened to you and an honest ATM withdrawal of 20k by you has been stupidly substituted by your bank. Check if your account tallies and balances out. If it does, just quietly PORT to another bank. My TWO KOBO |

Nigeria's crude oil has one of the least Sulphur content yet fuels used in Nigeria are the dirtiest and of very poor quality, why? Marketers who have formed a cabal to protect themselves from any government prosecution buy the worst fuel in the market usually from Netherland and sell at the price of standard quality to maximize profits. Mind you, a former minister of finance claimed they were behind the kidnapping of her mother. No be today news nah. They buy European DIRTY fuel at almost next to nothing, ship to Nigeria, sell at the cost of grade A fuel, claim subsidy and pocket the subsidy as well as profit from the deal. The rot reach DNA for Nigeria. |

We can still try even though we are force to insult some people sometimes. I haven't insulted ANYONE directly or indirectly with the comment you quoted |

Odunayaw: There's something I dont understand about this yapping about downsizing. 55k standing military is too small for SA, what do you think? They probably don't think the country has any serious threats(especially from their neighbours) In the near or immediate future. They also probably don't think the SA defence force are going for any major foreign deployment or intervention anytime soon. They also probably think the police has all it takes to secure the country. This is how the average politician thinks and thus, unfortunately, will they handle the budget. |

DaddyGoo: Sir with due respect you are wrong.
If one is caught in an active bandit/herdsmen / IPOB/Igboho camp that is stocked with arms and ammunition, one cannot deny knowledge of happenings there, either as an abductee, supplier, collaborator or abductor.
Of these four groups, the only obvious Innocents are the abductees.
If a person sells coca cola to an obviously armed group living in the bush at N5000 a pack, or supplies fuel at N600/litre and doesn't say anything, even to the community leader, that one na bandit, dole!
Where the problem usually comes from is when the agency leading/running operations start picking random people to boost arrest numbers. That will always be wrong.
Beyond the issue of wrong arrests, the actual bandits/terrorists/fighters deserve no less than 3 units of 7.62 special.
2 to chest, 1 to head.
Fini. Tell your neighbours and village people you got these bottles from a BEAURIFUL POST ON NAIRALAND
