Fulani herdsmen from Chad, Niger to benefit from FG’s livestock plan Published September 16, 2019 Eniola Akinkuotu, Abuja Fulani herdsmen from Chad, Niger and other neighbouring countries will benefit from the National Livestock Transformation Plan, the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has said. Mohammed, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, said since Fulani herdsmen are nomadic, it would be inappropriate to deprive them from benefitting from the livestock plan just because they are not from Nigeria. The initiative will be 80 per cent funded by the Federal Government while the states would provide 20 per cent counterpart funding and the grazing land. The governor, whose state is among those that will be part of the initiative, said Fulani exist in many countries across Africa and share a brotherhood which transcends boundaries. When asked how the government would ensure that only Nigerians benefit from the livestock plan, Mohammed said, “I think there is a lot of mistrust and misconception as regards the Fulani man. The Fulani man is a global or African person. He moves from The Gambia to Senegal and his nationality is Fulani. “As a person, I may have my relations in Cameroon but they are also Fulani. I am a Fulani man from my maternal side, we will just have to take this as our own heritage, something that is African. So we cannot just close our borders and say the Fulani man is just a Nigerian. “In most cases, the crisis is precipitated by those outside Nigeria. When there is a reprisal, it is not the Fulani man within Nigeria that causes it. It is that culture of getting revenge which is embedded in the traditional Fulani man that attracts reprisal.” When asked if it was right to allow foreigners to benefit from Nigerian taxpayers’ money, the governor said it was proper. He said Fulani don’t actually have one single nationality since they are nomadic in nature. Mohammed said “We are already accommodating them. Do you delineate and really know who is not a Nigerian Fulani man? “They are all Nigerians because their identity, their citizenship is Nigerian even though they have relatives from all over the world. So, presumably they are Nigerians because they move all over and have relations all over. That is why our population in Nigeria is fluid.” When asked if there would be any form of documentation for the Fulani herdsmen coming into Nigeria from other countries, the governor said, “Yes. This will give Nigeria the opportunity of having proper documentation and knowing the demography because the Fulani man settles anywhere he can feed his cattle.” The livestock plan which is being championed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo seeks to put herdsmen and their livestock in designated colonies which will give them the opportunity of exploiting the livestock value chain. While many northern states have embraced it, their southern counterparts have rejected it. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/fulani-herdsmen-from-chad-niger-to-benefit-from-fgs-livestock-plan/amp/ |

ORIENTATION101:Please, stop repeating govt propaganda. What you typed is not true. Here is what has been happening for years... 1. Rice farmers in Nigeria have never had any problem selling their product. 2. Greedy distributors were the problem with rice availability and market pricing. 3. They buy up production, ship it as export out of Nigeria into warehouses in neighbouring country. 4. Govt gives them incentives and waivers under mandates of Export Promotion Council. 5. This export creates artificial scarcity here in Nigeria. 5. They smuggle it back (not import!) into Nigeria and market our own local rice back to us as imports. I call the out/in pattern a "hairpin". 6. By now the price is doubled. The smuggled rice that was harvested in Minna is now in competition with non-smuggled rice harvested from same field in Minna. 7. Consumer habits and over-dependence on anything "abroad" or "import" will pay exhorbitant price for the hairpinned rice and ignore the non-hairpinned brand, ignorant that they were both planted and harvested by same farmer on the same field in Minna. 8. The looser is the farmer. He is cut out of gains raked in by the cunny, greedy supply chain. 9. Govt intervention should be directed at these exporter/importer of local rice. Legitimate cross-border business is suffering as result of this misguided border closure. |

In another news..... Just as Abba Kyari has been accused of subverting Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Mamman Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, has been accused of trying to boss Osinbajo while he was Acting President. Junaid Mohammed, a second republic lawmaker, who made this claim, equally suggested that President Buhari has lost total control of his government as Daura has allegedly constituted himself the center of power. Junaid, in an interview with PUNCH, said Daura now claims “the government belongs to him and his ilk” and that they will do “all they can” with it. “Sometimes, Daura was in the habit of trying to reach out to Osinbajo and suggest what Osinbajo should do and should not do. “Mamman Daura has never been elected into any office in his life. As I speak, the man does not hold any piece of paper indicating that he has held any position. But he is more powerful than Buhari. He is effectively in charge of the country, under the presidency.” He said: “The grapevine in the north is very leaky. We talk to people who talk to him. We talk even to (Buhari’s) family members who are unhappy with the way things are going. “They (the cabal) are ruthless. If they find that they can have somebody who will replace Buhari and do their own bidding, they wouldn’t mind collaborating with him. “We now have a situation whereby the presidency is becoming too powerful, and unfortunately, the president is not in charge. There are some shady characters whom nobody elected,” he said. Junaid further said President Buhari will not find it easy “to free himself from the cabal” because “he (Buhari) has already given the impression that he is under the cabal’s spell.” He said also that those who came out to jubilate over the president’s return were rented by the “Aso Rock cabal” “They were rented crowds. We know how they were recruited. Some of the characters in the cabal and their lackeys have a voice in the media. Their thugs in town were the people who were given money and some transport was provided for them. Some came from as far as Kaduna, Jos and other areas — so, I’m not surprised,” he said. |
An audio of a conversation purportedly between Mamman Daura, a cousin of President Muhammadu Buhari and one of his closest supporters, and Mamman Tukur, a perceived member of his cabal, has been obtained. During the conversation, made public by SaharaReporters, Daura referred to the president’s wife, Aisha, as a “suicide bomber from Yola.” The conversation reportedly took place during Buhari’s medical vacation in the Uk and the two men were overheard discussing their worries about his health condition during his treatment. The men also discussed the case of the suspended Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Olusola Oke, who was alleged to have bribed people to speak up for him following the discovery last April that he was warehousing funds in a Lagos apartment. According to Mamman Daura, the suspended DG even bribed Senate President Bukola Saraki to speak on his behalf. The following is the text of the conversation, according to SaharaReporters: Mahmud Tukur: salaam alaikum. Mamman Daura: alaikum salaam. Senior Mahmud MT: You did not answer my calls. I have called severally. MD: I am surprised COS I only saw one Missed call from you just now. I went to pray (Alwala) then I saw one call.O dear ! That’s why I am replying. MT: that’s it. I am trying to … MT Okay. Yayagaijia? Hope you are not too tired MD: Alamdullahi. MT : okay. How is that place/ person? MD: There. That person. Well. It’s well. He is getting better. MT: you said okay as if you are not sure … Laugher interrupts MD: laughs in a very funny albeit sarcastic manner MT: You said okay as if the getting well is not strong enough or fast enough or what is it ? MD : Yes. Not 100 per cent. Not as you or I would like but of course … interruption MT: hope he is meeting up with his treatment. MD : it is encouraging MT: okay. Very well. Thank God. please greet him for me very well. MD : so I wish tomorrow I will arrive by Allahs grace. (Nufaa) MT: okay that’s nice. (expresses surprise). Is the wedding dayclose ? MD: yes it’s close. Slowly slowly the time is close. It’s like time is on a fast track. Our time is almost up. We are close to rounding up. MT: (mumbles and concurs in the background). Every morning I say a prayer. MD : Hmm. Hmm. Allah help us. (Allah a ji kam mu). Wa lahi. Walahi. MT: Hmm. This thing. Is there any improvement from suicide bomber from Yola? MD: Succc? ( Hesitates. Not sure who is being referred to at first.) MT : Sucide Bomber. you know that’s the way that person is being referred to … ( interruption) MD: It’s worse. A hundred times worse than what you know. MT: Allah. MD: Walahi. MT : or will Baba talk to the suicide bomber again? Or there is no need? MD: There is no need. No benefit because the person does not listen to anyone. MT: This is the problem. MD: the person does not listen to anyone. What Sani Zango did ( talking to the person ) and he just passed away. Then baba also tried. But then it turned out the same thing. MT: the man is very patient (meaning PMB). There is virtually nothing you can do again at this point. ( repeats it again). MD : yes. (Concurs). There’s not much that can be done. It’s an absolute… something ( trails off ). It’s like a fixed breakfast. There is nothing that can be done. You can’t stay. You can’t go. That’s it. MT : I see. Walahi… MD:yes. it’s tragic MT : that’s why … said it’s a luxury breakfast. ( MD. Laughs heartily in response) MT: repeats the same thing. MD: This is morethat a luxury breakfast. It’s an absolute fixed breakfast. This one. MT : Allah a kawo … trails off as MD cuts in MD: let’s keeppleading / praying to Allah. 2ce Just that. MT : Now. They said it’s some or his people that have been talking MD: Well. It just bounces off. It just bounces off. MT: perhaps it’s best to find out about the people involved like the accounts staff and others. Let’s do this and neutralize him. Perhaps. (Ref NIA DG) MD: Well. There are many people bringing or providing many “information”. ( Lekanoni) We are doing that. MT: Also you can talk tobaba to come out with this project. The project on … MD: okay. Okay. MT: me I thought about it. And concluded that it’s best you speak to him about it. MD: don’t worry. I will speak to him about it. You know he is very fed up with this NIA thing. The way that man this man messed up / scattered things. MT: Didbaba brief you ? MD: Yes. We spoke with him. We tried to do damage limitation but it hasn’t worked I am sorry to say. MT: before or after theevent ? MD: No. before the event. MT:oh ! That could have been something… MD: because ai baba Kamar …. because it’s gravely damaging to the security agencies. MT: that’s it. MD: very grave damage. MT: you know there is the issue of that youth. He is inabuja. MD : Well. This exceeds their power … MT: what I am saying is that if you wantinside something (Infor) he is in Abuja. You may call him. MD: okay. Okay. MT: Because they know. They know. Someone told me that the guy gives money out to a lot of people. All spheres. That’s one thing that frightens me. And that’s why he has been able to find people to defend him. You see for instance Saraki has come out to speak for him. But I think if you have time. Ask that he be called to come see you. Let him tell you things. You can ask him anything. Also wider things. That is why I tried to have Mallam Abbah… But let me ask. How many are working foryou in terms of ground work of things. How many people have you got ? MD: Nil MT: better to find some people to do that. Some working in places becauselike in this case you get a verse insight. This is what I am saying. Have them call him for you. And then ask him what is going on… if one is lucky. Even if one is not lucky. Talk to him. MD : okay. MT: He has been working there for a long time. Plus. He is very bright. So.Itthink. Also He will be reliable. From what I know of him. Like I told you. He is the one I rely upon to get me information. For a long time now. MD: So. He is rarely experienced then. MT ; yes. During my time at New Nigerian, I ask him to do research. He got me information on different people. Within 2 to 3 days he will bring me the information I need. MD: Yes. Allah is king. ( Allah Sarki) MT : I need to tell you this. MD: I will try to get hold of him. MT: ‘Cos no need to rely on third or second something. But this oneis first party. So if possible. Call him. He is someone I trust. MD:okay. MT: but I am rarely worried about that person In the house. I just don’t know what to do. MD : Walahi. Senior Mahmud. We are at our wits end. We are at our Wits end. Just not to scare you further or worry you further. A few days ago. At the dinning table. This thing, the sucide bomber we are talking about went and stood there subsequently the man refused to eat. MT : why will the sucide bomber to and stand there ? MD : because some of the things he can’t eat. They will take it and go and hide them. MT: I see. Villa …. MD : they keep narrating to third parties. That this cat will not last. I think you heard enough. Until I return. God sparing our lives. Until I return. Next week. But the thing is beyond our hand. We are watching. Walahi. It’s beyond our hand. MT: okay. Until you return. MD laughs at something MT said). Thank God My only consolation is that if we are praying to Allah and in good faith. Then things will work out. But if contrary that’s the way Allah wants it. That is the way it’s going to be.MT: okay. MD:until we speak again. MT: okay. Masalaam. Clicks. Phone call ends.

The Kano State Police Command has arrested eight suspects involved in the kidnapping and trafficking of nine children. The victims have been reunited with their relatives. The children, aged between two and 10 years, were kidnapped from various locations within the state capital and trafficked in Anambra State. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Iliyasu, who handed the kids to their relatives, said some of them were abducted in 2014. Eight suspects were arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and trafficking of the children. Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters, Iliyasu said one Sagir Mohammed Bako had alerted them about the mysterious disappearance of children from neighbourhoods across the state capital. According to him, the ring leader, Paul Onwe and his wife, Mercy while moving one of their kidnapped victims, Haruna Sagir Bako, to Onisha. The police chief stated that Bako was kidnapped on September 11, 2019, on his way home from Islamiyya School at Yankaba quarters, of the state capital. He added that the suspects’ confessions during interrogation led the command to extend its investigation to Anambra State where eight other trafficked children were sold. Ten-year-old Farouq, renamed Onyedikabo Ogbodo, shared his experience: “When Paul brought me to Onitsha, there was a man called Emma. I saw this one (pointing at one of the victims). There is another one that has gone. They were playing and Emma bought me Cheese balls before Aunty Ebere came and took me up and later took me to the hospital. Farooq, who could not recall the name of his biological father, said he was in Basic 4 in a primary school in Onitsha. Iliyasu said, “The suspects confessed to have conspired among themselves and kidnapped various children from areas like Sauna, Kwanar Jaba, Kawo, Hotoro, Yankaba and Dakata quarters, all within the Kano metropolis.’’ Among the suspects paraded for kidnapping and trafficking of children were Onwe, Mercy, Emmanuel Igwe, Ebere Ogbodo, Louisa Duru and Monica Orachaa. Onwe told journalists that he had made over N2 million kidnapping seven children and taking them to Anambra in the last five years. Each child he abducted, he claimed, was sold for N200,000. Onwe said the kids were sold to Ebere Ogbodo. The suspect, who hails from Ebonyi State, has lived in Kano since 1998. He told the journalists at the parade that Igwe introduced him to kidnapping. "This man (pointing at Igwe) introduced me to kidnapping. He told me that Madam Ebere Ogbodo, who was a restaurateur, needed a child because she didn’t have any. "Subsequently, I told my madam and she started searching. "The children I kidnapped were seven. For the first one, who was two years old then, she gave me N150,000. I took that one from Brigade, Kwanar Jaba side." Speaking, Ogbodo said, "I am a childless woman from Enugu State. I was crying because my husband sent me out when I met Emma and I told him about my problem. He said he had a brother whose wife was working in a motherless babies’ home. "He connected Paul to me and he told me that the children were brought from a motherless babies’ home. I put them in school. I bought two of them for N200,000."
