We need a new training curriculum for Police College, but moreso, a target leadership class should be started at NIPSS to train the leadership crop of the Nigerian Police Force for understanding on why society need a police force. Each national controversy exposes the police force as a incompetent institution, from top to bottom. We have statutory laws on maintaing peace and order. If that law is broken we should not the intervention of an Oba or Emir or Obi or even the NSC to interprete and bend the actions of enforcement. Nigeria needs to be dissolved as a sovereign society. Then a bid should be advertised inviting new interests and societies that want to ally and build a new Nigeria. This one we have is decayed and stinks, there is no fixing it, spraying fragrance to mask the fould odour or dressing it with roses to make its appearance pleasing to the eyes is temporary and does not halt the decaying process going on within. Sooner or later the fragrance and the roses will not be enough to hide the damage when it erupts to surface. |
There are two types of Licenses issued to oil producers in Nigeria namely: the Oil Prospecting License (OPL) and the Oil Mining License (OML) with validity periods ranging from 5 to 20 years respectively. All the Petroleum (Crude Oil) in Nigeria is vested in the Federal Government, whose sole responsibility it is to control the resources and only permit their exploitation under license, in accordance with the Petroleum Act 1969. The State allocates acreages (Licenses) to operators in any such areas deemed to have potential for petroleum accumulation at the discretion of the Minister of Petroleum Resources. The allocations will be based on a set of criteria that would be made known to deserving companies at the time such blocks are open for bidding. The State reserves the right to participate in the operations of any block and to determine the type of contractual arrangements between the Allotee(s) and the Government. Oil Prospecting License (OPL) This confers exclusive rights of surface and subsurface exploration for the production of petroleum in an area not more than 2590 km2. (1000 m2) in size. The OPL is granted in inland basins for an initial period of 3 years with the option of renewal for a maximum period of 2 years. For the deep water blocks and frontier basins the exploration period is ten (10) years, broken into two 5-year periods which automatically roll over unless otherwise withdrawn due to non-performance. Oil Mining Lease (OML) A Licensee who has fulfilled the work commitment according to Petroleum (Drilling and Production) Regulations of 1969 and the conditions otherwise applicable to the individual License may demand that the License be converted to an OML. An OML is granted upon confirmation of potential for commercial production of petroleum from the License. The OML grants exclusive rights to explore, win, produce and carry away petroleum from the relevant area. The regulation size is 1295 km2. (500 m2) and the specified duration is 20 years. Only the holder of an OPL is entitled to apply for conversion of Oil Prospecting License to an Oil Mining lease, through the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) for approval. The production of 25,000 barrels per day is required as the minimum production level (commercial quantity) for conversion of a deep offshore OPL to an OML. However, for other areas, a production level of 10,000 barrels per day is required. |
ExcelNG:You are ignorant. The OPL216 has since expired. There is no OPL216 in her posession any longer. Next... |
ExcelNG:OPL stands for Oil Prospecting License. Many of the super wealthy individuals around the world made money by staking risk against the odds of something promising becoming truly rewarding. Sometimes the risk pay off, other times it does not. The act of employing resources at the object is what is called PROSPECTING. The Federal Government often publicise bid invitation for mining license. When it does those interested will submit bids and the winning bids get the license for exploration. The license is the OPL you mentioned. Mrs Alakija may have been a fashion designer but her clients were wealthy, which gave her access to information and connection. Growth does not just kcome through skills and knowledge you also need a lot of interpersonal skills to relate and build personal interests. She was good at this. That aside, the name Alakija may be foreign to Ibo ears, but in Yorubaland the Alakijas, particularly in Lagos are well known as a wealthy family. Mrs Alakija's involvement in OPL216 is not individual, she sourced money from family and even invited investors to put money in the pool to bid and purchase the license. They were lucky that their exploration was successful and they struck oil. When an explorer discovers the resource an OPL changes to OML, Oil Mining License, or Rights, which means they can now derive commercial rewards from their staked risk. Wikipedia does not tell you the whole story about her. Matter of fact there was an event a while back, I believe a book launch at which Obasanjo had quipped that he made some of the VIPs in the room rich and famous. When Mrs Alakija had her turn at the mic she rebutted him and gave the story of how she struck wealth. So Mrs Alakija's wealth is legit. Find someone else to pick on for your propaganda. |
nextprince:My brother, I am surprised you were not alerted to the import of that instructive message. Here it is again... The forum also called on Southern leaders to emulate the gesture.Look at it in reference to this quote below. What do you think? ![]() KANO – Elder Statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai has revealed that the current agitation to restructure Nigeria was an age long ploy by the Yoruba speaking group of the south west to enabled her have a shot at power. |
LoveMachine:This is an irresponsible response. If yoou comb through this forum you will find instances of blasphemous jabs at different religions and divinities, from Christians to Muslims, from Muslims to Christians, from atheists to all source of divine power. |
The name Arewa in Hausa language means North. It is local dialect for saying Northern Nigeria in English. If there had not been a Nigeria, what would they have called themselves in the North? |
Revisit.. |
Why are Arewa youths throwing ineffectual ultimatums left and right like Ohanaeze? ![]() |

Im looking at the pictures and the seating arrangement and I do not see any Gov in the second row, except Gov AbbdulFatah Ahmed of Kwara. If he occupies second row position in mosque, Kwara will be treated as second tier state in a Northern Regional Government. |
It is good news we received that the students of Igbonla kidnapped in Epe were released today in Ondo. This is about the fourth time that a terror attack in Lagos or Ogun have been traced to Ondo. Is anyone on the ground in Ondo doing reconnaisance to determine who is behind the crime and what their objective is? How does Yoruba intend to protect its regional borders from incursion of cross-regional criminals? Security breach is inevitable. At four kidnaps, two of school kids and other two were bloody including intensive air bombardment, this is more than criminal activity...this is military assault and no doubt has the signature of people well rooted in the act of militancy. The task for Yoruba is to protect its borders and secure citizens against rivals interested in discrediting and destroying its society. That task does not start after regionalism takes off and should not launch after an Oduduwa Republic. Yoruba must meet the heat dead-on and with intense response devoid of poliical correctness or sensitivity for any civil convention and rules of engagement. The ambition to run a regional government or an independent sovereignty must run in tandem with the ambition to secure and protect that sovereignty. Readiness for a regional government needs to be measured by how well we deter and block external assault into our territory. So far our readiness is very poor! |
Of the TOP 10 Richest women in Africa, 2 are Nigerians, and are both Yoruba. Folorunsho Alakija Bola Shagaya. Of the TOP 10 Richest men in Africa, 2 are Nigerians, and Yoruba is one of the two. Mike Adenuga. |
BabaRamota1980:Baba ramota don start. ![]() I will just watch this drama. Hey hammerf forget about my question altogether. ![]() |
hammerF:Its a simple inquiry. Im willing to discover the truth and if you have a revelation that we know to know about this man then bring it forth. You said he gave order to kill. To kill who? |
BabaRamota1980: ![]() |
hammerF:I dont understand Hausa o. Please interprete what he said. |

hammerF:Do you have facts that he gave the order to killl Corpers murdered in 2011? |
You know, most politicians need a PR specialist to speak on their behalf and protect their gaffe...or sometimes come behind their utterances to clarify and clean up gaffes, not this Tinubu guy; if ever there was a maradonna in the Nigerian political landscape this is him here. He gives very little in speech, he is straight to the point, and he dribbles his opponent away to chase after a decoyed topic. Maestro!!! ![]() |
There is more to this story than what is told here. How does anyone admit a stranger into the interior of his house? Nigerian culture is very openly discriminative to social peerage. An Ambassador and a taxi driver are not social peers and any sort of fraternal interaction is done at arm's length. No one else is at home and he invites this stranger he just met into his home on first visit and even cooked meal and sat the stranger at his dining table to join him. C'mon! Something is amiss, there is a gap in this story. |
Smartini:In my response today to an unrelated thread I mentioned how alcohol is an incompatible commodity for blackman digestive system. Whiteman is at his best when consuming alcohol and liquor generally, his faculties of reasoning are awakened. In a blackman, alcohol and liquor produces an effect that reverses our state of mind and lead us to behave in ways counter to our interest and dignity. If you look through my profile posts you will see the post. This picture is evident of what I talked about. Grown men, some or all with wives and children sit in middle of a stagnant and infectious environment consuming alcohol. There are more bottles on the table than are clients. This is what some of us call civilized. Shame!! |
KemjikaEme:You should separate Western Culture from Western Civilization. The two are not the same. European civilization is far superior to English culture for instance. We were colonized by England. We were given English culture, not European civilization. What we call Western Civilization is a net total of all the cultural assimilations and growth birthing from Egyptian cults and arts, Roman arts and writing, Ottoman warfare and arts, Semitic cults and science.... In what you call Western Civilization are spectres of Black cults, arts and alchemy. So separate British culture from Western civilization and you will discover that the English people that colonized us are inferior set of people. |
KemjikaEme:I offered to give you a historical recount and you turned it down. Yorubas were not the first encounters when Europeans came to what is now known as Nigeria. The Portuguese were first Europeans of record followed by Dutch before British. Many have heard of Yoruba but did not know how to ccontact it until the exploration of River Niger brought them into our capital. The Lagos harbour has a secondary coast that act as natural shield against the sea and voyagers. From the ship looking in you see water, a strip of coastal land and behind it more water, you do not believe it to be an entrance into a continental land and so most voyagers ignored venturing in and just passed by. The harbour at the entrance to Bini River is not so shielded and neither is the delta. So from the sea looking in Bini River leads somewhere promising. Same at Warri and Bonny. The voyagers thus had first encounter with the Binis, Itsekiris and Ijaws on the coast. Their encounter with Yoruba on the coast or in the hinterland was much later when trading and exploration expanded. So Yoruba was not the first to taste Western culture, we just happened to have an advanced civilization already in place that when the contact was made not much significance change was recorded. In fact both sides admitted the European culture was subperior to the one it met in Yorubaland. |

drake2000x:My people were practicing Islam before Usman Dan Fodio was born. Fodio did not bring me Islam. Your brothers call themselves Northern Igbos and are being islamized by descendants of Fodio. They prefer allegiance to Fodio than to Biafra. If your fellow Igbos reject you, what is there in Biafra to envy? |
drake2000x:This is another thread opened to ridicule Biafra. I dont think the OP is Biafran, perharps a One Nigerian Igboman. |
princenaira:Each to its own. We willl not give Igbo a free ride to attack us just because Hausa commits atrocities against us. Your thinking is warped! Igbo will start an issue but when we respond you guys are quick to introduce a third ethnic group into the dimension. What does Hausa have to do with whats going on here? |
