Cholls: funny!so after he hears his father give "declaration and quit notice" the child is instantly cured of his madness shege yaro! ![]() |
sophoccles:One Nigeria is a mirage. Value erosion exist because conservative ideologies are left unprotected against an awakening in new liberalism and patriotism. Value erosion is a gap, and when concerned societies rise up to block the gap they always attack patriotism and political correctness. Why has Yoruba been lackadaisical about its value system? Yorubas are the highest spenders and consumers of imported alcohol in Nigeria. We are also the highest purchasers and consumers of cow meat. The OWAMBE culture. If you go back into the history of Nigeria even the colonialists agreed that alcohol is a bad substance for the negroes to consume as it causes his nature to act contrary to his interests and therefore its importation must be restricted to the white population. They soon found that the lost revenue from that policy change was generating anger back in England, the colony was forced to reverse its stance. Imported liquor was found all over the South after that. It was not allowed in the North because part of treaty with the North was that Christianity, missionary works and alcohol and anything else forbidden by Islam would be confined below the River. If you care to read the minds of those who wrote the Kaduna Declaration, part of their frustration is the erosion of values brought by alcohol sale and consumption and that it intoxicates their children to behave in anomaly to their upbringing and tradition. Alcohol produce different response in whites than it does in blacks. In contrast, spice is good for black metabolism. it cleanses and removes toxins from our body. In whites, spice breaks down their metabolism and attack it, causing great discomfort sometimes needing hospitalization. I really don't know what we gain by drinking alcohol, or smoking cigarrette. So, Nigerian unity is at cross-purpose with the ethno cultural value of Yorubas. Yoruba has relinquished the defense of its traditional values and championed a new sense of liberalism and political correctness because primarily our self-discipline towards society has dwindled given that we are less connected with the true consciousness of what we stand for philosophically. I blame it on the vanities of owambe. We plan and live for the events of next Saturday party and the opportunity to lavish on champagne and intoxicants. In the meantime we are loosing our communities to new norms of cohabitation that are at cross-purpose to what we believe in |
KemjikaEme:You lack understanding for the meaning of diversity and dynamism of a city. On a daily basis there are new migrants from foreign lands into Yoruba cities. More than half the population of these new comers are Igbos. When you have such a high population that abandon your land then the manpower and labout is depleted and makes capital investment in Igboland impossible. Your land is not under-developed because the FG lack interest, it is because you lack the diverse workforce and dynamisim needed to return investment on any capital investment or infrastructure there. In other words, your migration to Yorubaland dry up capital investment in your land. The Yorubas use your migration index to attract market investors looking for manpower and labour to return revenue gains. So in essence you are being pimped by both the Yoruba political class and the investment sector and you call it a disadvantage to Yorubas. How so? |
sophoccles:What policies are the Yoruba State House of Assemblies and the Executives of these States using to zone and preserve their traditional space and protect their humanities against the erosion of values and moral assaults by Igbo? |
KemjikaEme:You cannot school Yoruba about urban growth and dynamism, we are the foremost urban society in black history. So there is nothing you have said here to teach new knowledge or advance the discussion. Any city that fails to grow dynamically will stagnate and become a turn off, people will run away from it. Your people lack in this knowledge, you are hostile to diversity....thats why SE is stagnant and everyone runs away from it, including its own indigenes. |
The defeat of Nnamdi Azikiwe-backed Akinsanya led to both men quitting the NYMAzikiwe was not a good politician. The affairs in Lagos has always been dramatized in political awareness and jostling. This dates back centuries, it continues to be the same scenario even today. In the period between 1930s and 60s there were new political awakenings, the dramatization of which involved a new class of educated locals. Amalgamation of Nigeria in 1906 and 1914 brought new dimension to the society of Lagos, particularly in late 1920s and early 30s. The educated class were fighting British biases and discrimination in wages and titles. A white clerical officer earned more than a black clerical officer with same academic qualification and tenure. To fight these imbalances the blacks formed into unions which then expanded to become political parties to represent their interests in the legislative councils and oppose white rule. Yorubas, Itsekiris, Ijaws, Binis, Igbos, Efiks, Anangs, Idomas, Nupes, Hausas, Kanuris, living in Lagos formed into different ethnic groups and were represented at the council by one or other party. Azikiwe was the representative of Igbo voice. This is how he got in politics. His interpretation of politics was to be on top, and if he could not he will attempt to ruin the cause as he seeks a departure. There is a part of this story you left out, which is, after that defeat of Akinsanya, his candidate, Zik took the outcome as his own personal defeat and henceforth regarded Ikoli and Awo as his enemy. This was the genesis of his struggle to ruin Awo politically. Uptil 1979 he had not given up on that struggle. Ikoli would have suffered the same fate if he had lived beyond 1960 and was a citizen under the Presidency of Azikiwe. |
Brugo:Considering our experience and history, this should be a lower priority to more pressing need for qualities and competencies in leadership, compassion, forward thinking, conflict resolution....all of which can be demonstrated without a show of good english. Besides, if we take the British English as the standard, the English they speak in America is also bad English, but no one doubt their ability at governance and social justice. Nigerians should press more for delivery of good of governance and social justice than semantics of the English tongue. |
KemjikaEme:Lagos was built by Yorubas. If you want to be schooled about the history of Lagos and its developments, stage by stage, epoch by epoch, including political structure, traditional heirarchies, social elitism, I would be more than happy to oblige you. It would declare for you once and for all that though Igbo has been living in Lagos for a long time, those that came behind you have gained permanent foothold in Lagos while you continue to struggle and beg for recognition. |
KemjikaEme:You are not the right ethnicity to teach about diversity. Igbos have always been a hostile culture to diversity. Ibadan, Ilorin, Abeokuta, Lagos, read their pre-Nigeria history to learn about the diverse cultures. |
Dainfamous:Was the oil mined in Igboland? |
KemjikaEme:Lagos Island was the capital, not Lagos State. Besides, the authority of the capital was a tenant, not an owner. That tenant has since departed and left to Abuja. The children it left behind are living in Lagos at the courtesy and magnanimity of Yorubas. |
victorvezx:We are already fed up, and they know it. This is why they are falling over themselves now to do what pleases us, different from last election when they openly dared us. You can hear the Chairman telling them to put their business first! It doesnt cost the state anything to take over Alaba and demolish it for new development consistent with the desire for renewal and growth. |
KemjikaEme:Name the top and popular edifices and hotels and landmarks built by Igbos in Lagos. |
Why do they call themselves "Igbo Coalition in APC"? This in itself is an admission that Igbo as a minority in national politics. |
Valro:Oh yeah, he is humbled! He is less boisterous and more reserved than before the recall initiative. |
NwaAmaikpe:Not quite. Proficiency in language is not a measure of intelligence. Academic training in Nigeria has regulated our behavior and thought into believing proficiency in our local dialect is a sign of backwardness, barbarity and dullness, and that speaking good english is a show of intelligence and civilization. It is a false precept. |
gbolah1:I commit to add to the fund if he can meet your request and he is verified to be authentic. |
kioboy:God bless you for preserving its life. You might not know this but if any harm was coming and one of those pythons is around they sense it...and they will guard it off without you even becoming aware of the danger or the protection. Thats what serpents do. They are connected into the spiritual realm and are natural shield against harm. This is why they were adopted as standard for medical practice. |
There is no need sending out military or police to enforce law in November election. If the FG believe it is standing on constitutional power and that its own call for unity is more popular than the call for Biafra, then all they have to do is give everyone their voice at the polls. People should naturally turn out and vote their belief in the Federal unity, or boycott to exercise conscience for Biafran freedom. |
Bigdealz, What is the bigdeal over a legislation to amend local electoral process? Nothing really! If the state wants it can redistrict local governments and wards 24hrs to an election, so long it is within the electoral limits for conducting local election. We suffer from the fear of unknown and then blow our top when events happen outside the comfort zone of what we are used to. Lagos State is perfectly in line with this process. We are taking back control of our state and its political process, no more free-for-all! |
WeShallSee:Ooni should not be standing to greet anybody. In fact, he should not be shaking anybody hands...he is initiated into many secret orders and does not need to shake hand with just anybody. Where is Oba Akiolu to come give his input abeg? ![]() |
What is Ooni trying to accomplish with his over the top deferrence to his subjects? Are you guys sure this dude was a prince before his coronation? Princes in Yorubaland are fiercely competitive and brutal, in fact you have to rein them in sometime from following their impulse. So this Ooni, I dont know what kind of Prince he was before his selection. He must not have grown up in Yorubaland. |
Where is the #250m funding coming from? You see what we warned people about? Another incompetent voted in. Congrats to Adeleke but what he needs to do is hold Town Hall meeting with his aides and collect top 5 issues his contituents are grappling with. Whatever the top 5 are becomes the voice of the people and this is taken on as Task for the Senator to attend to. In three months do a followup and share with the people where you are with those tasks. In six months give another reporrt on the progress. Another report in 9months. By end of 12months he should be done with all 5 tasks. Give a Anniversary report with highlight of where the constituent was when you took over, the items you identified as Voice of The People and what you have done so far to address them and celebrate the community success with them. Second year service, collect issues from Town Hall, there will be hundreds issues submitted.....identify TOP5 and do same.... This is how to move forward, not promising 250million one day after election victory. Is scholarship a top priority for that community right now? More than likely not! Those that have graduated with scholarship money are sitting idle unemployed. Why more scholarship spending? These politicians are dummies, whether in West, North, South, East or Center! |
There is much to digest that I am unsure which contributions to quote for reference, every input you guys have submitted are thought provoking and quite informative. Now, let me digress a bit and say our efforts are scattered all over the place. We were discussiong a thread sometime ago about Ife, then another one was opened about Oduduwa and we got on it and now here is one on Jews and we are here, then tomorrow someone else will open a thread and we jump on it to discuss Yoruba history and origin. To return to the current discussion. absolutesuccess, Engedi is Ein Gedi proper and in Yoruba is Gbeti or Geti and the variant is Ein Gbeti. I wouldn't say much but we need to index pplace names, particularly those with historical links with Ile Ife. Consider Omu Haran ..... Um Haran (From Olu's post) Ile Ife .......................... Nineveh Magogo and Ogogo -------Gog and Magog Edo (The Red culture).....Edom (Red) Idu...............................Iduma Idoma/Edo/Idu Ein Gbeti .....................Ein Gedi On Urim and Thurim, One of them is ascending and the other is descnding. This is the attribute of Jacob's ladder and concise with the myth of Oduduwa descending on a chain or ladder. Urim and Thurim are the Orunmila (ascending) and Irunmole (descending) energies of Yoruba. 200 deities to the force of Orunmila (infinitum celestial), 200 deities to the force of Irunmole (infinitum terrestrial). Ooni of Ife is the single deity for their manifestation (finitum material). Anatomically, the head is Orunmila, the feet is Irunmole. The knee and hands are symbolic for the state of being. In pursuit of material interest we keep feet on ground and head high and our knees and hands are not in contact with earth. In position of worship and devotion we separate feet from earth and kneel to the ground and hands in contact with ground and put the head to the ground to reconcile the spirit to the material (devotion to God)...........or we prostrate with feet off ground, knees and hands on ground but head aloft (devotion to wisdom, also called enlightenement or illumination of the spirit....where the word Illuminati is derived). |
sean1000x: googlepikins:What business does he have in Abuja? He is not an elected official, he is not the party chairman, so why should he be in Anuja? You Ibos want to ruin the current administration the way your people turned Abuja to Mecca and ruined Jonathan's administration. Abuja is seat of government, not a beer parlour. ![]() |
I wonder sometimes how much turnover I could get out of you guys in production time if I had a factory plant and employ you for gainful output instead of the hours wasted in unproductive contributions and nagging and chaos back and forth. When did agbero become celebrity? |
“I am not an APC member and I will never be. ButHmmm...never looked at it from this angle but Fayose is truthful here. When he was Governor, Tinubu's cabinet comprised of representation from every state of Yorubaland, and beyond. |
Thewrath:Its over two years. Are you TANs still upset over the 2015 loss? If you had formed yourselves into opposition, instead of secession, you could have helped shaped a proper narrative towards True Federalism and thus project yourself as Peoples Champion for succession to the laggard regime of Change we are in. Its not too late to review your position. |
Markfemi2:Nice topic. |
Someone need to remind FFK that his father, Fani Power was penciled down as one of the Yoruba leaders to be assassinated in January 66 coup. In fact, they bundled him into a truck and took him down with them to an Army unit and awaited arrival of the assassins that will throw him in a military jeep and drive him into middle of a field somewhere or in a bush and pump bullets into him. By stroke of luck, Gowon stopped at the Army unit, asked why he was there, not satisfied with answers, Gowon snatched and took him along with him. Thats how close FFK father was to ending like the rest of leaders wasted by Ibo. FFK is a prodigal son. He has not honored the memory of his father. Has the Ibos apologized to his family for kidnapping and targeting his father for assassination? Have they apologized for assassinating Akintola and other Yoruba, civilian and military? |
The AGF stepped out of line here. He works for the Presidency and his role is to give legal interpretation and defense to actions of the sitting President at all times, whether they were deliberate or spontaneous. He should not expect to be consulted on every issue and only defend those issues which he is in agreement of. He is not hired to agree or disagree with the Presidency. On the Acting President side, I have criticized Mayor of Lagos each time he brought up the issue of image and branding for the VP. At this ppoint I am standing down my opposition to Mayor and agreeing that the Acting President indeed must be given an upscaled image, starting with his own wardrobe and that of those in close circle of his Office. It is imperative! He is small startured man, he appears even less equipped with his mode of dressing, which in cultural Yoruba standard is grossly informal. The Senate is opposing him, members in his own Cabinet are distancing from his opinion and actions....NOT GOOD! REBRAND THIS MAN QUICK!! |
Barallanee and Vicfuntop look like sisters...no, like TWINS! TimeMod these girls like you...cooltempa and win them to your side jare. ![]() |
