Tinubu knew for years that a time like this would come when he would ‘vie’ for the number one position in Nigeria. His recent visit to Aso Rock to make his ‘open’ intention known to President Buhari did not come as a surprise to many. As a father of many children, Buhari showed wisdom, but deep within him, he knows that the realisation of Tinubu’s presidency is dicey!
Like the Biblical Esau, the very day Tinubu dropped his ambition to become Buhari’s running mate in the 2015 presidential election was when he retired from an active political position in Nigeria. I am sure if he knew his religion (which has been a boost to his elections in Lagos) would be a significant factor that would stop the actualisation of his lofty dream of ruling Nigeria, he would have possibly followed Remi, his wife, to the church one or two years ago to receive the political “salvation of Christ”.
While social media has made it look like Tinubu is the anointed crown prince in waiting, in reality, there are many odds against him!
It will be unimaginable for Buhari and his supporters in the North to bypass a loyal, dedicated, humble and obedient Vice President (Yemi Osinbajo) for Tinubu. We cannot deny the fact that Tinubu played a vital role in bringing Buhari to power in 2015, but what those clamouring for a Tinubu presidency failed to realise is that apart from the fact that Buhari cannot return such favour at this point in time, Osinbajo has won the heart and trust of the president, compared to OBJ-Atiku era.
Tinubu missed becoming Nigerian president in 2023 twice: when he recommended Osinbajo to Buhari in 2015 and when Osinbajo survived the helicopter that crash-landed in February 2019!
Let’s even face the most straightforward question, “Can an average Northerner trust Tinubu”? or better still, “Can Buhari trust Tinubu”? Judging from how Tinubu has strategically pocketed Lagos since 1999, the Northern kingmakers will surely not want the same to happen at the national level!
The truth is that the kingmakers in the North cannot support someone smarter than them! They will instead rally around a “weak” Osinbajo than a “smart” Tinubu!
Buhari has spent the last seven years putting some structure in place that he will not want to be dismantled. For continuity, the simple logic is to allow someone who has been part of the administration from inception to continue from where he stopped. Another truth is that the North has more ‘competent’ hands to serve as a ‘Muslim’ Vice President to a ‘Christian’ President than it has for a ‘Christian’ Vice President to a ‘Muslim’ President.
Besides the title of ‘your excellency,’ Tinubu will bring nothing new to Nigeria that he cannot do through Osinbajo. Nigeria does not at this point need someone that wants to achieve his personal ambition without a clear vision; the challenge ahead is beyond Buhari using a public seat to return a personal favour! Tinubu may have to wait till 2039 to fulfil his ambition. The removal of the likes of Oshiomhole as APC chairman is more than enough to convince Tinubu that there is no vacancy for him in Aso Rock.
No doubt Osinbajo has the respect of Buhari. Even when Buhari was away on a sickbed in London and Osinbajo was running the country’s affairs, the vice president never made any decision without consulting the president in London. He has always been an obedient servant!
It may look like a running battle to get the APC ticket, but it is pretty straightforward. A Tinubu candidacy will not only show Buhari as a bad and wicked master, but it will also bring total collapse to all the foundations he has spent the past years building! Osinbajo has played his card well by ‘distancing’ himself from Tinubu right from the day he became the vice president.
Tinubu will better be remembered as a kingmaker at the National Level than a former presidential aspirant! Although Buhari may want to play a ‘neutral’ game during the forthcoming APC primaries, doing so will surely not be in the interest of the North; his supporters will need to know who he supports. He is now torn between returning a favour to a man who helped him ascend the throne and paying a dutiful and obedient servant (vice president)!
Let’s watch as the events unfold!

Prior to the rise of APC, they tried to keep Nigerians perpetually outraged and angry and clued in to what “the other side” is up to "corruption ". They just keep pumping out the outraged in order to keep you focused on them as saviours . And it worked?!!

The APC adopted a divisive approach to politics in which lying and misrepresentation became an all too common tool in their campaigning and in their legislative rhetoric.

This is the natural result of a broadening understanding of the people who make up a society, supported by a free press.

It was all lies or half truth or else how do you tag an individual as corrupt in one instance and exonorate or embrace the corrupt individual suddenly.

I think the biggest reason for this situation sits in the biased propaganda.

Good day , good people of this forum, i am going to go straight to my worrisome oral health condition, which is threatening my wellbeing,my psychological balance and i am so scared because i don't want something fatal and horrible happening to me.

I had tooth abscess operation done on my lower jaw teeth, i believe that is premolar and molar(2),subsequently the operation was done at a federal university teaching hospital and i have been relieved despite 2 months of being bedridden and transfixed.

Now to the main point of this boring essay, a different tooth, the last on my left cheek is broken.and sometimes with foul smell, the pain from the touch gives me unpleasant feelings no one else can fathom. I have a total of 3 teeth removed, 2 on the extreme left removed during the undesirable hospital experience, and one close to the extreme one giving me headache, insomnia,unpleasant feeling and below par performance in my endeavours. I am so worried because i feel some spasm in my body system, and aside from lacking the means or wherewithal to visit the dentist, i am very wary of getting the tooth off, because it would mean i would have no tooth at both end of my cheeks.

I am worried about the implications, scared about any complications whatsoever, putting it in mind the experience i had 2 years ago. I would also like to know if there is any affordable drug or antibiotics or anything 'magical' that would stop the bacteria from eating the sinews inside the cracked,broken and rotten denture.

Please help,i am depressed and getting downcast ,almost suicidal. Medical practitioner, dentists, and people of goodwill come to my rescue.

I empathize with you. Toothache and gum disease is not an easy issue to handle.

Find clove (Yoruba call it konafuru), grind to powder, rub on gum. If you have hole in the tooth enamel (cavity) apply the powder in it. It will bring relief but is not a cure. Go for cure soon as you can.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to calls by Northern Elders Forum (NEF) to resign due to insecurity in Nigeria.

His spokesman, Garba Shehu, said the president does not wish to be drawn into the high-decibel show in the media.

“Publicity is the oxygen for politicians who have failed to connect with voters in a democracy”, a statement Wednesday night reads.

Shehu said the resignation call “is not a solution to the security problems facing the country”, noting that it built up to a worrisome level following decades of neglect.

“They told citizens to know what their government is doing to deal with this situation and for politicians to come to terms with the fact that it is beneficial to all.

“People don’t have to destroy what is there in a desperate quest to get power”, the presidency said.

In response to the attacks on Kaduna and Niger States axis, Shehu told the public that security agencies have realigned and reorganized ongoing operations.

He said the structures are being reinforced with land-based assets to increase the efficiency of the troops and intelligence is equally being reinforced.

The air defence system is being reinforced with newly-acquired jets and drones which assemblage and training for operators have been hastened to meet the current exigencies.

“The country is equally getting assurances of early delivery of equipment on order from manufacturers and the effort is ongoing to conclude other major procurements still in process.

“Only this morning, the government at a meeting of the cabinet approved the procurement of the largest ever single procurement of military vehicles.

“Similar major operations are going in the South-East and the South-South where the economic life wire of the nation and electricity transmission lines are currently being secured from saboteurs.”

The presidency accused “sponsored saboteurs” of aiming to show that the government cannot provide power by sabotaging equipment at switches and other vital points.

“They will not succeed. The public knows who is who, and who has done what in our country’s governance”, the statement added.
