Please be clear to me what she transgressed ?I do not see any transgression beyond Your mama or Your papa insults not even to that degree.
Tell us whether you believe non Muslims should be subject to Sharia law that is all we need to know

I have not heard you adequately condemn the murderers but you are sitting in judgment on a dead girl
Very heartless and callous mindset
Who is "us"? You are expressing similar mob mentality we saw in sokoto when you suddenly switched from me to "us" in your comment. Us as in christians...? Please clarify your "us".

Return to my first or second post and reeducate your mind. I dont know if she said those things or not but I continue to say if indeed it is authentic then she has transgressed. The transgression is simple and linear taking from your own interpretation of @%#* as a rude exchange. Add that to Muhammed in a land known for religious isms and intolerance. What do you expect the outcome to be?

After that I also said the attackers should be prosecuted.

My position is straight forward and matured. You want me to say she was correct in being rude to Muhammed, which I can never do.

If you are rude to ordinary users in social media what do they do? They punish you. Here in Nairaland, how do mods treat rule violation? With restriction....sometimes a year or longer.

The rule in shariah community has thresholds, respect their thresholds. Nonetheless, crossing a threshold does not justify death. The killers must be dealt with. Simple!

I dont patronize emotional blackmails, if you e pect me to take side with shariah or chriatianity, you will not get that from me. I do not relate in basic instincts.

And when Muslims are upset they can stone and roast? because for me this is an issue of proportionality
What you are saying is she got what she deserved right?
You read too deep into it.

Again, assuming what is attributed to her is correct, She clearly transgressed. This I know.

The proper way to address this is through the authorities, sharia or non-sharia. There, proprtionality will be weighed.

You are reading my comments wrong, honorable.

Rudeness is how I understand it

Just to be clear when you say "guilt" you need to be clear what YOU mean because I understood that in the ordinary meaning of the word

What I am getting at here is simple . There are words in all belief systems that blaspheme some other belief system and so the issue of guilt of blasphemy has added weight in Nigeria

I need to understand whether you think Non Muslims should be tried under Sharia law or whether how non-Muslims can be "guilty" of blaspheming Islam and that is why I bring the Ogun issue.

My view is that we cannot have blasphemy laws in a country like Nigeria as we are not religiously homogenous
Dial back into my first or second post in this thread, i believe it is self explanatory. You are thinking too deep into it. Stay on surface, we are not having a legal exercise here.

Well I don't know you

How can a non Muslim be guilty of Blasphemy?
...and you dont need to know. You just need to be reasonable to know not every human action is coded into law. Some exchanges are fouled just on the reference of moral or social protocols alone.

aribisala0:
I did not put words in your mouth

You Said in the conditional tense that she is guilty of blasphemy, you talked of Constitution and Sharia law

Under what law would she be guilty of blasphemy if she is not a Muslimhuh
Her guilt is not prescribed by law but by context of what she stated. Social media recognizes @%#* combination as an expletive.

If i say aribisala, @%#* you, how do you interprete it?

Since you have already said what constitutes guilt of Blasphemy in Islam I presume then that you are a Muslim is that right?

We are talking about rules that will form principles for a legal system for ALL NIGERIANS not what you worship.
We have Ogun worshippers , Christians and Muslims . etc in Nigeria.

The point is if the core beliefs of one religion constitute blasphemy in another how do we square that circle.
You mentioned Sharia community in the constitution when called out evasiveness
Again if Ogun is blasphemed you said they should defend.

Question How? Can they behead Muslims and Christians for calling Ogun an Idol Evasiveness
I can see you are determined to be evasive so I will close.
Everyone in Nairaland that know me know I am muslim, a common sense muslim, not a dumb one.

What we witnessed in Sokoto is dumb, there are Christians that also display such senselessness and will kill if the opportunity is presented.

Dont make this a muslim/christian issue.

Like I said earlier, grab a sense.

There is "sharia community" in the constitutionhuh
I am thoroughly familiar with the constitution
I have it on my desk top and read it everyday

My copy does not mention Sharia community? So please tell us what is a Sharia community as defined in your copy of the constitution
Does Sharia law apply to non Muslims? A simple yes or no will do
More evasiveness

Which section in our constitution codifies blasphemy? How is blasphemy defined in our law and what is the punishment
Honorable, I sincerely do not enjoy talking with people feigning ignorance.

A community is a community, sharia or not. A sharia community is one that practices sharia. It is dumb to look in constitution for "sharia community" in as much constitution acknowledges shariah in its statutes.

When you go to Isale Eko, it is Eyo community. It will be dumb to disrespect Adimu Orisa in Isale Eko. The constitution acknowledges customary laws, which Eyo is part of. Will you find Eyo community in constitution? No.

Grab a sense abeg.

My question once again is :

Is it blasphemous to call Ogun an idol.

How do you suggest Ogun worshippers defend Ogun is it okay to behead blasphemers?
Ogun worshippers would need to itemize what would constitute blasphemy under their belief. I do not worship Ogun.
Politics › Re: Malami Withdraws From Kebbi Governorship, To Remain As AGF by MetaPhysical: 6:37pm On May 13, 2022
Of course, because he does not yet have immunity under governorship.

If he resigns he will be exposed to lawsuits. It is for similar reason that Buhari placed his outgoing chiefs of staff under diplomatic immunity, to shield them from lawsuits on their atrocities.

What is Sharia community? Is there such a thing in Nigerian constitution

You say she is "guilty" of a blasphemous Act . Can you tell us which law in Nigeria codifies blasphemy and the prescribed punishment?

Is it blasphemous to call Ogun an idol and Ogun worshippers as idolaters or Kaffir?
Ogun worshippers should defend Ogun everytime he is blasphemed. Unlike the sharia North ignorants killing for reiligion, you dont have to kill anyone to defend Ogun but you can defend him in other ways.

Yes, there is Sharia in Constitution. You must not be familiar with the Constitution.

Read the interpretation again. On internet/social media, which is not guided by any law, there is a common language for communicating...or a protocol of usage, any word followed by @#*% and so on is considered masked expletive, whether intended or not.

I am not here to discuss the incident of her death, but rather the comment that triggered it.
So if you are unable to deconstruct and analyse issues without sentiments, this is not for you.

Below is a translation of what she said verbatim. I have removedthe expletives she used:

.

Like I said the essence is to analyse what she said. One wonders, was she deliberately trying to start a religious crisis thinking it wouldn't go beyond the usual social media banter against Muslims?

I ask this because for some one trying to stop religious posts in a chat group do you start by saying "Holy ghost fire"? This is self contradiction.
Secondly, after making your point on not posting religious materials in the chat, why on earth did she had to insult the prophet (peace be upon him)

It is a fact that Muslims revere the Prophets of Allah more than anything in this world, and the prophet of Islam occupies a special place in their heart.

It is also a fact that although ignorant people have over time and in different places used bad words against the prophet (PBUH), no Muslim worth the name dear mention great prophets like Moses, Ezekiel etc without saying "peace be upon them or "Alaihim Salaam" or AS, not to think of using bad speech against them

So it is important to state that I condemn the act of taking laws into one's hand, but also condemn any form of instigation and inciting speech against anyone, Muslims and non Muslims alike
The translation given, if true, will make Deborah guilty of a blasphemous act. It is very insensitive of her residing in a sharia community and disrespecting the culture of the community. That is unacceptable!

It is also unacceptable under Nigerian Constitution, the highest law in the land, for anyone to prosecute offence on the acts of any other subordinate law, for instance Shariah.

The killers of Deborah are known, they must be prosecuted under Nigerian Constitution.

Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of three bridges connecting Lagos Island to the mainland, the others are the Eko and Carter bridges. It was the longest bridge in Africa until 1996 when the 6th October Bridge located in Cairo was completed. The bridge starts from Oworonshoki which is linked to the Apapa-Oshodi expressway and Lagos-Ibadan expressway, and ends at the Adeniji Adele Interchange on Lagos Island.[2] There is also a link midway through the bridge that leads to Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba. The bridge was built by Julius Berger Nigeria PLC. The phase one of the project was commissioned by President Shehu Shagari in 1980 and completed by President Ibrahim Babangida in 1990; it measures about 11.8 km in length.

Lalasticlala
This information is half truth. Governor Mobolaji Johnson originated development, planning and construction of 3rd mainland bridge. Lagos State completed a first phase and more funding was needed to proceed with next phase. FG intervened with funds and completed rest.

Where the whole Town is filled with Blind people, a One eyed man becomes the king... That's a fitting narrative for the Northern extremists burning people Alive because of lack of comprehension.... You hardly see a case of alleged Blasphemy in the south among the Muslims because they are educated and will actually verify what was said and also the state of the mind of such person,
But there in the core north...its not the same...You can be set up without anybody hearing your part of the story... And violence hungry mob are handy to do what they knows best...
Let's give it to the southern Muslims who show their intelligence over the Northern counterparts... In All I think we need a leader who can invest in Northern education to reduce insecurity and all these barbaric incidents.
I am a Christian from Ondo state, except kwara state ILorin to be precise because of some Fulani Dominance, you hardly see religious violence in the South
Northerners are patriotic to Islam, not to God.
Everyday and everywhere in their sorrounding there is an abuse and disobedience of God. They dont respond with violence, but moment you say a dark word or counter Islam, all hell will be let loose.

When I say Yoruba politics in Ibadan and you ask for names, it revealed you are not familiar with this topic.

Yoruba abhor monopoly of power. The seat of a political power must have a vibrant and living diversity. When it comes to politics in Yorubaland Ibadan remains most diverse in partisanship. Lagos is seat of economy, not political power. Diversity is not tolerated in Lagos politics.

Ibadan politics is a conglomerate. Kaduna politics was a conglomerate. Kano politics is a conglomerate. Lagos politics is a monopoly.

I see some deep wisdom in your words but saying Tinubu didn't stand for Yoruba is not correct when you look at his position as leader of APC the ruling party.

If there is anyone among the contestants from the SW that would at least restructure that person is Tinubu. Tinubu has the exposure to cage national assembly unlike Osinbajo who the north could cage with National Assembly.

Tinubu or Osinbajo is the right candidate for now and any true Yoruba son must queue behind any of them
There are three politics in Yorubaland.

1. The politics of Yoruba Commonwealth
2. The politics of Ibadan
3. The politics of Nigeria.

Tinubu is absent in 1 and 2.
