Cherez: GOD!!!! Bros I thought you were cerebral enough Now I understand the main reason Nigeria is so backward; even intelligent people loose this property at the touch of tribalism. Yes the airport was built by the state govt (who else would the donation go to? LGA, traditional rulers?) with donations from individuals See the reference I have you The donation was made public so this ain't news as people massively donated then. The OP even opined so that the records were done by the state commissioner of finance then Mr. Idika You don't have to go far; In some locations in Lagos you'll see Town Union buildings built solely in donation from a single village. My village has town unions in every major city in the SE & in Lagos and in each of these locations, they have a 1/2-storey building on a 2plot land built by the union Im going to cut it down for you in very simple way. Government does not owe you Town Hall. It will be nice if they opt to build one but they can equally opt not to. If the Town needs a Hall for community gathering and events then you pool funds and erect one. Government promotes trade and exchange. Government owes you an airport, and it is not an option. The knowledge and awareness deficit in Imo in 1983 led to this show of shame you are incorrectly branding with pride. Imo people in 1983 were clueless, simple! Im coming to Mbaise soon to see Christina. I will gladly give lecture in your town hall and open una eyes. |

vivalavida: My mum already told me stories on how this airport came to fruition. So this is not my first time of hearing this. They did it because only the eastern region then didnt have any airport after the war. Present day Abia state university which was formerly imo state university was built under such circumstances too. You were told many stories in village that were revisited and found to be false. Like Ojukwu papa was first President of Lagos Stock Exchange. He was not, Mobolaji Bank Anthony was. Ibo was the first to medical doctor in Nigeria. It is not true, Yoruba was. Aziliwe created NCNC. He did not, he joined an NCNC created by Macauley. Sir Ojukwu owned the Rolls Royce that his driver chauffered the visiting Queen in. Untrue, the Rolls Royce belonged to Kano Palace. So, how is this donation lie any different, irrespective of where it came from. Great respect to your mother! I cant say anything wrongful about her at all but the message itself is what is under attack. Its a propaganda and a deceit ....a grand deceit if I may add......that Imo citizens donated fund to the state to build an airport. I dont even know if I can yet agree that Imo was first state to build an airport independent of Fg funding. I have to explore other states and discover when their airports were built and who built it. Many people have wonders that are largely unknown because they are not noisy. |

1. I don't reside in Lagos or any of your Ogbomosho enclave.
2. At least we have cleared the air on whether individuals contributed money to build the first state owned airport in Nigeria.
3.The argument now is whether it is right or wrong for individuals to assist government fund infrastructure through donations and levy. According to you, your 'sophiscated' region would rather use increase taxation to get the fund.
Tax by definition is a COMPULSORY contribution to state revenue, while Donation is something given in charity, out of goodwill. So your government will force people to fund the project while Imo government decided to invoke the good will of Ndigbo to make the airport a reality.
Almost every household in Igboland made donations or levies for the project. So what exactly is your point? 1. You are not serious! Is there anywhere in Africa that is comparable to Yorubaland? Go to South Africa, xenophobia. Go to North Africa, internal turmoil. Go to East Africa, terrorism, Go to Central Africa, war. Come to West Africa, crime. Yorubaland is the BEST PRACTICE and the only model of diversity, security, economic and culturally friendly place in Nigeria and beyond. Do you disagree? If you are not in Yorubaland you are not in paradise. Get with the program! 2. You and who agreed on this? Did I agree on it? 3. You just demonstrated that lack of social understanding again. Tax is a social responsibility of the citizens.....just as facilitation of public works and amenities is a responsibility of govt. The exchange is what we call civic contract. Civic is derived from civilization. Those who lived by the principle of civic programmes are called civilized. Acts of donations and goodwill is called philantrophy. Philantrophy is an exchange at individual level within the classes in the citizenry. Citizens that practice philantrophy to their govt lack clue of what government is. A government that collects donations from its citizens also is irresponsible and clueless on its role to the people. Gwafa, are you in Mbaise? Im coming soon to see my love. Pack your ghana must go, you are coming back with me to Ogbomosho. We need to open your eyes. |
Politics › Uzodimma Offers The Best Strategy For Igbo & 2023 by MetaPhysical(op): 6:22am On Jul 06, 2020 |
Are you saying it’s not the turn of the Igbo?I am not saying turn and I don’t want to discuss about turn; all I know is that the Igbo are eligible to have the President of Nigeria of Igbo extraction but no group can singlehandedly produce a president without the other. So, we must work as a united party to produce a president. The zoning principle is an internal form of political party, the same thing with other political parties. So, it’s not about turn but “equity”. We can say because the constitution of APC allows for equitable distribution of positions, that given that other geopolitical zones have one time or the other produced presidents, that the Igbo have a very strong case this time but we cannot sit, fold our arms and wait to produce a president because it is our turn. That is why I am calling on my brothers and sisters from the South East to come out and create alliances, build bridges of friendship so that working in alliance with geopolitical zones, they may consider our case but we cannot sit in Imo State and say this time it is the turn of Igbo and therefore the President must come from Imo State, without going to register our people to be voters. We must register or align with a party that is popular and understand the happiness at the federal level. I am confident that it’s possible to have a President of Nigeria from Igbo land but we must work for it, we cannot do it alone, we must also allow the people from other geopolitical zones to believe and understand that a president from Igbo extraction will be a president of the “Nigerian Nation”. What we are looking for is a person that will be a President of “Nigeria”. The issue is not about turn; Igbo producing a Nigerian President is possible and it’s a case that is very logical; it is a case that I know every Nigerian wants The Igbo have a just case in 2023 but then, we must work for it. Sometimes, we become insensitive and destroy our case, what we should be doing now is to sensitize our neighbours to build confidence to show that the character of an average Igbo man or woman is that of a Pan Nigerian; when we bring out the Pan Nigerian in us before this time, our people have been blackmailed and the debacles of the civil war has not helped. So, I think that the publicity we shall do now is not that of “it’s my birth right” or “it’s my turn”. Democracy is achieved by ideology, we must show that to Nigerians although we may not have the numbers as a zone to out-vote other zones but constructive partnership demands equitable distribution of opportunities in which case that given that we now have six geopolitical zones that we are the only region that has not been given the opportunity to preside over the affairs of the country. That if we are supported, we shall not disappoint your reasonable expectations; these are the kind of things we should be talking about, not saying it is the turn of the Igbo. Cherez: We know you quiet well Whatever your argument is, it is no news people contributed to build that airport. See this https://allafrica.com/stories/201904090098.html (See the 11th paragraph: Mbakwe fought a battle with the federal authorities who initially opposed the construction of the airport and refused to give support. Undaunted and determined to make a mark, Mbakwe persisted on the airport project without federal assistance. Instead, contributions came from Imo people who gave their full support to the project.) I presented multiple facts and supporting documents that counter the thread's position. First, I gave authentic status of the airport from FAAN records. Here I give you article on who built the airport and commissioned it and the year it was built. I maintain that the contributions posted in this thread was not for the purpose it is claimed. Could it be that this contribution was one of the popular village efforts back in the 80s to fund spare parts business for apprentices relocating to Lagos for new markets? We know in the late 70s and into 80s many Ibo people did crowd funding for new opportunities in Lagos markets. They sponsored boys from villages to apprentice in Lagos and Kano and expand spare parts business. Isnt this document an evidence of that....rather than some bullshyyte about an airport? As it stands, authentic materials show the airport was built by state.

gwafaeziokwu:

At this rate you will soon travel to the great beyond to interview some of these men to ascertain whether they actually made those donations or not. At least your little Google search said that Imo state government built and handed over to FAAN. Did your source also divulged how the Imo state government got the funding for this gigantic project?
I understand your confusion. How could a people, rendered paupers by an uncivil war, build an entire airport by themselves fourteen years later? Airport that federal government takes loan from foreign banks to maintain.
I assume that where you came from, it is unheard of that individuals joined hands to build public infrastructure. Well, it is called patriotism. Igbo men love progress. All the secondary schools in my community(about 3) were built by the communities and villages through donations and levy. We then handed over to government for them to recruit and post teachers. Post office ,police stations, even hospitals were mostly community efforts.
If the Igbo man had waited for government to remember him, we would have been worse than Eritrea. Gwafa, I dont care how long you have lived amongst civilized people in Yorubaland this ya village life and mentality cannot be cured. Shey, na my Yoruba people you dey talk this thrash to? . Orisirisi! Where I come from, the great Yoruba people, founders of civilizations and world orders, creators of Empires and Kingdoms.....it is abomination for government to pass its sovereign duty and financial burden to its citizens. When the citizens have to fund a big budget project like an airport the government is no longer solvent. Its budgets are meaningless and it has lost credibility and jurisdiction, it should be dissolved. A state governor in any Yoruba state will not dare ask people to contribute money to build road...much more an airfield, not to come talk of an airport! If Yoruba community ever thought of need to improve state budgets they will not donate money. Instead they will approach the government to raise tax. Cover your face in shame for coming out in public to support this act of shame in Imo. It is a discredit that people will contribute money to build airport in 1983 Nigeria when oil money was flowing yanfu yanfu. You are backward over there. You have a huge deficit in your assessment of your govt and their contract and responsibility to citizens. They exploit your lack of knowledge and pump you up with false ego....the Igbo spirit! Igbo spirit that is not aware that it is uncivil for citizens to donate money and fund govt budget. No make me talk and loose my new gehfren in Mbaise o. |

Goodmarlian where you dey Are Ijebus still not Yorubas Ibo knew Oba of Lagos was from Benin. They have been trying to occupy and turn Benin to Biafra. They succeeded in 1967 but their hold was soon demolished about 48hrs later. Their purpose for occupying Benin is really to claim Lagos by extention. They have since then learnt that Oba of Lagos has no land ownership beside the one his palace sits on. Awori is the owner of lands in Lagos. So they rushed the lands. Anywhere they can buy land they borrowed money and bought land. They have now discovered that their purchase only entitles them to the property on the land...the land itself remains perpetually a property of the indigene, it can never be converted by purchase. They devised a new trick. How about separate Awori from Yoruba? If you look on their recent Biafran map you will see Awori in it. Were ni Ibo. Keep reliable evidence that is free of any doubt to show your wife has abandoned her matrimonial home. 3. Keep proof of abandonement using your living condition as evidence to show that her abandonement has impacted your life and that you suffer severe hardship as a result. 4. Obtain records of any person she cohabits with, the regularity of their cohabitation and the type of relationship. 6. Deputy gov has immunity...but your wife does not. Get a court order to subpoena her and get disclosure of her marital status under oath and in a jurisdiction in Lagos State. 7. Give deposition at her appearance in court and contest her disclosures. If the court find discrepancies she coupd be held in contempt for lying under oath. Ask the court to indict her. You want to intimidate and scare her to reveal the whole truth to court authority. She has burden of proof that her statement to court is accurate and must contest and disprove your evidences. The court disposition you can use to pursue a civil lawsuit against deputy gov when his immunity lapses. You can go a different approach and instead of 6 and 7, jump from 5 to a law suit. This is costly but the burden of proof is on you, not her. Cc Adaibeku Alhaja Rekhina Warn your sister I will show her pepper if she leaves me for another man. |

hisexcellency34: Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos
Bola Tinubu Disciples Organisation, a socio-political group loyal to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has attacked Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland over his recent interview in which he criticised Tinubu’s stance on restructuring. The group’s coordinator, Hon. Agarawu Wasiu in a statement on Sunday described Adams as an ingrate who is hell-bent on tarnishing Tinubu’s image. The statement reads “Our attention has been drawn to an interview granted Gani Adams by The Heritage Online Television, where Gani Adams threw decorum, decency and respect for elders, cardinal attributes of a true-born Yoruba, to the wind, to throw feeble verbal jabs at Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the issue of much-taunted Restructuring of Nigeria, of which he knows very little about, calling him unprintable names. Having critically watched, listened and examined the interview the Bola Tinubu Disciples Organization (BTDO), deem it necessary and important to respond to the unruly and unwarranted vomits of the so-called Aare Gani Adams, in his unhidden and unbridled but vain desperation to smear the good image of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. It is on record that the coming into the limelight of Gani Adams, was offshoot of the support he enjoyed from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu . Gani Adams, was one time prominent Okada rider on the streets of Mushin and became popular through his notorious activities. He graduated from Okada riding to a “cut and nail carpenter” in Mushin. We are abashed that Adams could have easily forgotten the roles Asiwaju Tinubu played in his climb to the stardom he is now finding so difficult to manage. Asiwaju played the father for Adams when he wedded. When he was declared wanted by then Lagos Police Commissioner, Mr Mike Okiro, it was same Asiwaju that saved him. This ingrate would have been wasted by Okiro, but Asiwaju Tinubu rose up and stood firmly by him. There was a particular night, when Okiro and his team were hell bent on eliminating the blood sucking brigand, Gani Adams, who was terrorizing the entire Lagos and Ogun States at that time over his untutored agitation for Yoruba autonomy, leading to barbaric killings of Police men, wrecking havoc and causing unrest in South West States of Nigeria. This is the man who was rehabilitated by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to become what he is today, after he was released from Kikikiri Maximum Prison. It is imperative to inform the general public to ignore the hungry, rampaging loafer who is hiding under a struggle for the freedom of Yoruba to propagate the interest of his party, the PDP where he is a contractor and a corporate beggar. He had at a point said Asiwaju Tinubu does not give him intended attention anymore. He said he will never work for any interest of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in his life time again. The question now is: why is he now seeking attention? To think of it, has Asiwaju come out to even tell him nor anybody that he is contesting for Presidency in 2023? Why is Gani crying more than the bereaved? Gani Adams is the only problem we have in Yorubaland, a double face and traitor who can trade his kids for money. We understand his plight. He is being ignored politically in Southwest and doesn’t find it comfortable that none of South West state is paying him political attention any longer. However, people should ask him why he directed OPC leaders and members to cast their votes for Atiku Abubakar in 2019 Presidential election if his intention is to see Nigeria restructured. Adams is a chameleon, a visionless and directionless, abjectly confused man. "Of what importance does he think he is in Yorubaland? A nobody of course!" "The relevance of his bravery and importance to our security should be measured with his level of involvement in the quest to form Amotekun. He was sidelined during the implementation of the Amotekun Security Outfits, just because of his garrulous behavior". "How many people has he empowered? None. Even with the billions of naira he raked in during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. We understand the money is either finished or depleted, and that’s why he’s out to dent the image of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. He’s a failure!" Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in his capacity, has made millions of people, his records are unbeatable. "People’ should ask questions: why did Adams go to the Villa in his desperation to meet with President Mohammadu Buhari? Is Buhari no longer a Fulani man?" "Gani Adams, as we all know has lost fame and recognition in Yorubaland but he’s looking for an avenue for his voice to be heard again. His name has always been associated with controversial issues". "Recently, he was equating himself with His Imperial Majesty Oba Ogunwusi Adeyeye Enitan, The Ooni of Ife and other Yoruba Obas until he was placed where he belongs". "The story of how he betrayed Dr. Fredrick Faseun by hijacking and factionalizing Oodua People’s Congress, is still very fresh in memories. He changed the mission of the group from its original aims and objectives and forced himself to lead, though rudderlessly". "We advise Gani Adams to go back to the Oodua People’s Congress and reconcile with those who have broken away from the group as a result of his selfish interests and his reckless leadership style, rather than chasing shadow. Many of these cadres have been Killed or maimed by him". "After settling his boiling home, he can now begin another reconciliation with some Yoruba elders. Yorubaland is not for sale". "On this note, we warn Gani Adams to stop his campaign of calumny against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as we will not fold our arms, while a Yoruba misfits continues to drag the image of our Leader in the mud. We will not condone it because Yorubaland is not for hypocrite. We have all facts and evidence at our disposal to expose and disgrace Adams".
