spyder880:my advice about doors or anything else concerning building is simple. If you can't afford the best of the foreign builds, go for our locally made products. Any foreign door less than 250,000 for 3ft is not worth it. Just calculate the exchange rate and add the cost of shipping and clearing plus other expenses and profit and you will get an idea of what it's like. I saw some wooden doors in Lagos and trust me, they're better than any foreign door you can get with ₦1m in Nigeria now. Funny enough, they cost just about ₦100,000. But you order for them and they will start looking for the woods. When it comes to rails, don't do anything stainless steel. I have been to an estate and majority of the rails there are already in pieces. And there's no one occupying the houses. The client I was on his project told me point black that none of those will touch his building. What happens to imported goods is that our people will get there, see the available samples and their prices and choose to buy the least available quality while marking up the prices for maximum profits. Sometimes I don't blame them because the purchasing power of Nigerians are very small and can't afford the best quality. But then we have an insatiable taste for imported goods even if they're fake. I see Aba made shoes branded with made in Italy. My advice is simple, build as if you're building forever. It's your project and your money so don't allow anyone put pressures on you. Money is hard to come by so spend it wisely. If you have a plug to import goods and determine the quality, kindly do that. You will be glad you did. Anything outside of that, source your goods locally and determine the quality. Let me enjoy my "sit at home". I'm supposed to be in Imo state but here we are |
Vintagepipes:still Imo state citizens |
udemzyudex:here's how America is the biggest benefactor, Companies like Apple are under enormous pressure to produce cheaper from brands in China. If they don't get cheaper production, they will drive them out of business. Apple did that to Huawei when they were about to become the number one phone company in the world |
spyder880:these doors are millions. Like I said, foreign doors aren't made for everyone. If you can't afford it, simply source for locally made doors and specify what you need. This thing goes for stainless rails. Nigerians just love recurrent expenditures. You will build and in less than five years, you have started maintenance of the same building. This singular act will extend your point of breaking even |
udemzyudex:this is not a yes or no answer. America is the biggest benefactor. Go figure |
timefarm:what you don't understand is that America can't afford to run those companies at home due to lots of red tapes and trade organization plus high wages. China is using coal which is cheap to power the industries. Children are allowed to work in china like in the case of foxconn versus Apple. Wages in China are too poor. All these things makes production expensive in America and those companies can't afford it and still compete with Chinese companies who are using low cost production margin. There's a global chip shortage and it was enabled by the trade war because companies started hoarding chips like in the case of Huawei buying more than they needed to beat the deadline thereby beating the routine flow of production. These things are cause and effects |
Gigaset:here's what I can tell you about imported doors. Anything less than 250,000 for the single (3ft) is a charade. You just wasted your funds. If you want to buy imported doors,go all out. It's meant for everyone |
Why not discredit the news since. I'm supposed to be in Imo state but I can't risk the uncertainty |
You are a fine gentleman. Properly raised by your household |
Powersurge:all of them are torn from same clothes They're all criminals |
Buhari should declare a state of emergency on our security and use federal and executive powers to fix it. It's disgusting to be reading these news everyday |
Everyone go collect eventually |
These people disgracing Nigeria like tomorrow no dey. But na bubu disgrace is pass |
frugal:America knows better than to ruin Chinese economy because china is their biggest trade partner. Anything you do to china affects America. The unnecessary trade war started by Trump was one the things that cost him his presidency. Many companies in America were affected by the trade embargo and those people made sure he didn't return. I don't know where some of you read your own news but you guys understand nothing about the relationship between china and America |
Waited for the filing machine to come the whole of today. It happened that it came in yesterday and the driver took it to another town. It was after I created a small scene that they started looking for it and then realized it wasn't even at their warehouse. Took delivery of it and I am glad and fulfilled with the money spent
|
sonnie10:no. I bought it for the client. Even though I can make them, I prefer to outsource the job to people who specialize on making them. I can't make every money that comes my way |
hamtabfawaz:I'm sorry for not responding quicker. I haven't received those as the benefactor has been stuck abroad due to COVID-19. He was recently diagnosed with the disease and that disrupted his travel arrangements. Once he makes it available, I will let you know |
bixton:it's ok. Then I will have to look for it |
bixton:I don't know if you like something like the picture below. We call it starter and the client pays for them. So you will decide the places you want to put them and quantity. Each goes for 10,000. Or we can replace it with 3" wrought iron pipe (60*60) and find a cover for for the top. Without the starter, the price is 40,000/m and with the starter, it's is 37,000/m

Wow this is beautifully written and inspiring. I like the fact that he appreciates his current position and still have sights for a better place |
RIP man. You can't watch Lovecraft county without liking this guy. He reads and performs his script with such quality and real-life representation |
Blueelf:I will love to copy the series for me. I want to binge watch the previous seasons before I start this new season. There are very few good series coming out and money heist is one of them. Billions is also there if you love USA stock market and seeing how the ultra wealthy control your money |
We're few decades away from true immortality. I know my religious fellows will shout against this but science has broken more jinx and immortality is the next target. You don't expect Bezos with over $200bn to die and leave it all. The ultra wealthy don't want to suffer natural death again and they're backing research with billions of dollars to get it done. Before you say it's impossible, there are numerous organisms that don't suffer natural death. Animals like jellyfish sheds old skin and doesn't suffer natural death. There are trees that can live for hundreds of years. So man needs to figure out how they're able to live for so long and transfer same to people who can pay for it |
Sanchez01:she just bought her evening dosage of dragging. It will be served on premium plates |
I had the Bosch for almost five years and never did I fix a single thing. Not even the carbon brush which is the first to wear out in such machines. And trust me,it has worked really hard for me and outlived many grinding machines that came later. Got it when they were running one promotion like that and dollar was still stable |
twinskenny:you're right Sha. Bought a grinding machine and it only lasted for four days or less. The head cracked up like egg. But ₦100,000 in this economy and rat race is a hard call. I'm just hoping this one will last long enough while I start daily contribution to raise such amount for grinding machine. Meanwhile I have extra two grinding machine at workshop. So this is basically for jobs at site and won't be under much pressure |
The price of the previous grinding machine is currently out of reach. As at January,it was selling for 80,000 so I'm expecting it to hit ₦100,000 now.
|
So today I bought this angle grinder in Lagos and it should be waybill to me tomorrow morning. My very reliable machine (Bosch) was stolen on site. Being a job I will be doing on site, I needed something I can trust. I won't have the time nor know any technician who can fix all the Chinese knock off products that are in the market. And that reminds me,if anyone knows any reliable grinding machine, kindly let me know cause I don't really trust this one
|
Freestainworld:after drinking garri, I hope you don't urinate |
EgunMogaji2:there's something I learnt yesterday, create known boundaries between yourself and your workers. Cause if you don't, they will abuse that privilege and take advantage of you. And trust me if the tables were turned, they won't give you same treatment. Once again, create stern boundaries between and your workers cause it's only then they will respect you and stay in shape |
Stop giving sensitive positions to short people. They get angry easily and speak out of turn. Imagine threatening the remaining doctors and calling their strike action as nonsense |
