Is this the new question that absolves you of supporting domestic violence/partner battery?
Im also happy that you have demonstrated that you cant answer this simple question. Because you know that thats where your entire position falls apart smiley

Its wonderful that people who are considering trashing their marriages because of you will be able to see through your flimsy arguments and make a good decision that wont scatter their homes. Keep exposing yourself love kiss

I didn't have to answer you once I saw that you don't understand human rights to begin with. If you don't understand that talking to your husband isn't a violation of any law, then why should I understand your perspective that she can be beaten for expressing herself?
I am just happy that you posted the link so that people can get a better grasp of how far you would go just to excuse a woman's poor behaviour. It will help them to make sense of the mess you are making in this thread.

To be honest I seriously pity anybody who comes to you for any sort of relationship advice. You have no emotional intelligence whatsoever.

But, sweets, how did you determine the tone the woman used that warranted the beating?

Were you there?

She's given you her own account, why isn't that enough for you? Why are you trying to incriminate her by all means?

You don't want to baby her, right? Is that why you invented her tone?

Does she have the right to freedom of speech or not?

Oh, you are the one who argued that beating her up and her speaking are a level ground with that crack house.

No need to discuss this any further. Your stand is to support domestic violence and other violence by looking for "reasons" why it happened. He could as well have killed her and you will still find "reasons"and "tone".

Do you think the police care for your "reasons"? He will be arrested for crime, not for what she said to him. Why? Because what she said is not a crime. Beating her is.

Let's not baby him.

No "reason" you give will free him from jail if she decides to press charges. So of what use are your "reasons"?
Whats the difference between a reason and a justification?

We were created with imperfect. It's on our natural disposition to falter once in a while. But God is kind, merciful, forgiving and accepts sincere repentance. All you need to do is repent and try as hard as possible not to fall into that sin again. Even if you do, there's still room for repentance as long as you're alive and sincere in your intention.

Yes, my parents and people I've offended have forgiven my offences as I have also forgiven those who offended without attaching any conditions or punishment. Anyone who's forgiveness is based on punishment or retribution is nothing but a vindicated and horrible person. Are you?

If you buy a device and the manual is filled with errors and items inconsistent with the device you've purchased, would you be convinced that it's the manufacturer that wrote the manual? Anyone without sound knowledge of the product could have sneaked the manual into the package. Such is the case of the bible. Why would you call a book with errors was inspired by God. God is not the author of confusion.
You havent understood the nature of God, which is why you keep making the same wrong argument.

You havent understood the irrelevance of inconsistency or error to the argument for the truth of the pathway to redemption, which is why you keep making the same wrong argument.

Ive already laid it out for you; accept or reject as you will. Have a nice day.

What do you mean babying? For the sake of sanity, you do not baby a person when you tell them that they have freedom of speech and freedom not to be beaten for it. But can I blame you? You live in a place where nobody has any human rights. You've rationalized abuse and given it "reasons". That is why you see domestic battery as okay.

This is how men were supporting infidelity and battery until their daughters called them crying with the same issues that they did to women themselves.
You have asserted this exact argument before and you didnt respond when I countered it; no need to keep repeating this tired spiel because we both know that you are unable to defend it kiss

Im happy to see that you have posted the link up there so that anybody reading it can see how irrational your arguments are.

When you discovered there is no justification for beating women, you now called it reason. But you know there is no reason to beat another human up just because you don't like what they're saying.

My aim isn't to help women rights. I want men to be responsible for their actions and to realize that there is no "reason" to beat about person for what ever it is they said. Otherwise men should prepare to be beaten for speaking.
What is the difference between a justification and a reason....? That is what I asked you.
Family › Re: My Husband Beat Me On Christmas Day by midnighter(f):
BRATISLAVA:
Lol.
Because she's told you she did nothing wrong, you've even imagined the tone she used. What tone can one use to ask for a family picture? She already agreed to his bad dressing by asking him for a picture, still, knowing that he didn't change his clothes and was looking unpresentable. Can you not simply assess the information provided? Why must you invent the other part to satisfy the narrative that all women are trouble makers?
Madam, what tone do you want her to use? Is her husband a God that he cannot be spoken to because he is her husband? Should she live in perpetual fear of speaking to him because of "tone"? You can make any type of excuse for domestic violence. Your world of innocent abusers and fearful slaves tells us that you have issues with women. If you are one, you are either living in extreme servitude or you make up these things to please men even when you can see there's no reason (which is still justification) for brutality.

What if each time men did something to annoy women, they had the physical strength and bone density to beat them up? What if each time a man opened his mouth and another person picked "offense" they decided to beat them up? Can you now see why it's madness to support men beating women for speaking?
You need to understand the difference between the words "justification" and "reason" before quoting me again my sweet

I have noticed that in these kinds of threads, you tend to jump through hoops just to extricate the woman instead of calling a spade a spade. Women are not innocent 100% of the time just because they are women.

Is it impossible for you to imagine that she used a harsh tone on the man when telling him to go and change or take the picture? Because all women are saints and never shout at people right? And all men are just monsters who go about beating and slapping the innocent, seraphic womenfolk because they feel like it smh

You also ignore all the contextual information in a post and pick out one sentence that the person wrote and use it to begin a pointless argument, which makes trying to reason with you quite futile. All these exaggerated terms like "fearful slaves" and "innocent abusers" is just you projecting your misplaced indulgence onto a situation that doesnt relate with what youre saying.

You think youre helping womens rights by doing this, but youre actually making the situation for women much worse. If you want women to be treated better then give them respect they deserve by holding them accountable for their actions instead of overprotecting and babying them all the time just to prove a point.

You are basically saying there
You dont get it. Its not a law thats above Him; its a condition that goes against His nature. Oil and water dont mix. God and sin dont mix.

I did not deny the presence of contradictions or errors. I do not deny that the idea of sacrifice is common in ancient mythology. That a text has been rendered incorrectly does not make it false. That an idea is popular or found elsewhere does not make it false.

The Bible contains several different genres of writing. Some of it has been taken by some as metaphor. That does not mean that it no longer applies.

Why do sins need to be atoned for. Why does god need an innocent human sacrificed to atone for the guilty? Can't he just simply forgive? If forgiveness has to be conditional, then it's not forgiveness anymore, it's basically some kind of revenge.

Parts of the Bible may be divine. But it has been written and rewritten over the centuries by men to fulfill their theological desires. The result of this is a book filled with errors and inconsistencies. How could God have created light on the first day, the sun and moon on the fourth? If these monumental errors, which science has come to disprove, are wrong, why then should we believe other parts of the same book?
Sins need to be punished. If you understand God as much as you claim to, you should understand that its against His nature to abide with sin. Forgiveness is not the point. He can forgive you but He still needs the sin to be paid for. Are you saying that your parents simply "forgave" you all the time when you were growing up, with no consequences?

You shouldnt use emotive language like "conditional forgiveness" and "revenge" to try to distract away from the point. God is a just god and feels righteous anger against sin and iniquity.

Your second paragraph is not closely connected enough with what we were discussing to warrant a response from me unless you can explain how it is relevant. I did not deny the existence of errors or inconsistencies in my previous post so I dont understand what you wrote there.

There is not a single person in this thread who is waiting for God to come down and personally rule Nigeria into an age of prosperity. The unserious arguments here based on strawman distortions of the arguments of your adversaries are coming from you and you're projecting that unseriousness on others. The only serious context of that comment was on the futility of religion in a country where everyone is a zealous religionist, but can't translate their faith into substantive progress. If their faith is real, we expect to see it validated in wisdom and competence and cooperative harmony and mindfulness and selfless, altruistic service to the community, and virtuous living and transparency and accountability and everything that makes good leadership and engaged followership in a working, functional society. That is how we expect faith to manifest in our society if divinely guided. Not strawman arguments about God or Jesus personally coming down from heaven or something.
This is repetition. I have already explained twice why I interpreted the guys comment in the way I did. You are the one attacking a strawman by refusing to acknowledge the fact that that guy evaded the question of individual/collective/corporate/national responsibility in his post, and trying to offset the balance by responding seriously to what was clearly sardonicism.

He exaggerated first, and I exaggerated second, yet you only have a problem with what I wrote because of your inherent bias and not because you are more rational than I am.

Separating our responsibilities from God's is the point and not meaningless posturing about distortions and projections when the fact is that we are seeing the results of human failure and not His.

If faith is real, you expect to see it validated by behaviour. If faith is real, I expect to see it validated by behaviour. So where is it? Why does being a zealous religonist necessarily equate to having "real" faith? Do you know what "faith" is?

Youre not even making sense. You stated that faith is whatever one thinks it is and still gave specific parameters for what actual faith in practice looks like! Is it not confusionhuh

Being "neat and orderly" is a humanistic value of harmonious societies, so Japanese or Korean or Finnish or Scandinavian people aren't neat and orderly because it's some kind of religious duty. ANd you're correct that failing at this is our failure. Again, you're stating obvious things that nobody is arguing against and missing the crux of the argument. The crux of the argument being in what ways are our society materially transformed by all the religiosity? I went to missionary schools as a child where everyday, we had to recite "Prayer for Nigeria in Distress" and "Prayer against Bribery and Corruption in Nigeria". Every single day. I've been reciting these stuff even before perfecting my reading in nursery and early primary school. I just used to listen to people mindlessly chant the prayers in church and I could recite it. Over 2 decades later, and these prayers are still chanted in Catholic masses all over Nigeria and we're still as much a corrupt and as wretched and miserable a shiithole as we've ever been for decades. So why not simply be engaged citizens who try to reform or revolutionize the system with mass action? Why even bother praying about it when the efficacy of that is pretty much zero influence level?
This is also repetition. And youre talking outside of the point; that Japanese people arent neat because of Christianity does not mean that Christianity doesnt promote neatness or inculcate it in its adherents. There are many ways to skin a cat.

I will try reading your post again later to see if I can glean anything different from it but right now I do not understand how this has progressed from our previous posts.

You literally keep moving further and further away from the original issue, like a bunch of concentric circles. You did this in our last interaction too so maybe its part of your style or something but I personally cant see the purpose of it. Your writing doesnt make sense to me.

There is not a single soul who does not know the pathologies of Nigerians, so these are digressions that are irrelevant to the point you responded to. You yourself are simply pointing out the futility of prayer. Blaming God is not the issue. The issue is that religion is a futile endeavor with no effect on our material circumstances.

Ah, employing a variant of the "no true Scotsman" fallacy. To be religious has a clear definition and doesn't mean what you want it to mean. If I profess to be a believer in Christ, I'm a Christian. If I go to church every Sunday, I'm a Christian. It doesn't matter if I dump all my garbage in the gutter or commit every sin in the book - I'm still religious by any definition of being religious. Plenty of cultured people are not religious. Plenty of uncultured savages are religious. It's the way of the world. There is a strong correlation between religiosity and poverty, or religiosity and a comparative lack of education. So yes, those unkempt, dirty, disorderly people you talk of are more likely to be religious than other people.
You are totally unserious hahahaha cheesy that people know the pathologies of Nigeria does not mean that they acknowledge their own responsibility in the matter, which is what that person failed to mention and which is far from irrelevant.

You're just manipulating what the guy wrote to suit your purpose, which can never work. Can prayer be expected to unilaterally cover physical human phenomena or nothuh Must Jesus physically come down and stop you from being a thief before prayers can be seen to work? Don't be insincere, my friend!

The rest of your post is just empty posturing.

A Christian knows what it means to be neat and orderly as part of his religious duty. If he doesn't take this seriously it's a failure on his part and not God's. A country with a stupid attitude towards organisation and working systems can only blame itself and not "unanswered prayer".

Religiosity and poverty is not the point, religiosity and comparative lack of education is not the point, you're totally off point! So the wealthy and well-educated ones, where are theyhuh

That's a strange way to interpret the guy's comment. He's saying if there existed any divine, omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent power who cares about his creation and intercedes to come to the aid of His people who lift their voices unto Him in supplication, then there is no rationale for the state of Nigeria - a very, very religious country where people pray about everything. He's not saying it's "God's fault" or "Jesus' fault". If you're saying that the state of Nigeria lies entirely in our incompetence, then you're saying all the solutions to our problems lie with us and not God. Which I'd say is an accurate observation. Why then need to pray at all if all you have to do is engage your cognitive ability and industry to solve your problems? What is the purpose of prayer and religious devotion?
Lol oh gosh! Excuse me, did he mention the fact that we are being run by a bunch of numbskulls and imperialist puppets before he started wailing about churches and prayers?

He clearly said "If theres any God anywhere, Nigeria would have been a better country by now" which is apportioning the blame to God without mentioning anything related to our own responsibilities apart from prayer. na so we go dey sidon one side dey pray while our country goes even further into the abyss? Which better country? When people cant even stand in a straight line when waiting for an ATM machine mtchew dont make me laugh!

By the way what is religious about Nigeria? In the sense of active faith, organisation and infrastructure? God is a god of order and not open gutters, unkempt policemen and gluttonous politicians so I dont see where He is supposed to come into it when we are busy being stupid and incompetent.

He is even being kind to us right now; do you know the type of serious disasters we are supposed to have experienced by now if not for God? Hm! This thread is becoming very funny o!

Thank you for your kind words.

As you said, not everyone really cares what the Bible says. In fact, the vast majority of human beings have never cared about what God says. They will only pretend to listen in order to find fault with what they hear. I couldn't have put the bit about making themselves feel smart better myself.

You are exactly right that the whole Bible runs to the Cross. That is really what all of Creation is about, after all. The Cross defines the whole Creation and the destiny of men and angels.

As you also said, taking random snippets of any part of the Bible is always a very bad idea. The whole Bible is a seamless whole. When anyone is taught what the Bible says as a whole, they soon realize that every part of it is connected to every other part in unique ways to create one whole, harmonious Truth.
Precisely.

Anyway, never mind! Anybody who wants to read should read; youve already spelled out all they need to know!

What makes you believe that studying the Qur'an is a waste of time? It isn't the same as the Bible you know... Most Muslims aren't facing the challenges you listed in your opening post because:

1) It doesn't make sense that eternal life is dependent on some god-man, who never claimed deity btw.

2) there's no contradiction or inconsistencies in the Qur'an if you read it carefully.
1. It makes perfect sense. What doesnt make sense is that somebodys sins are never atoned or paid for, anywhere, when God is supposed to be totally just.

2. Just because the Qur'an (supposedly) doesnt have contradictions, it doesnt make it true. Even most works of fiction need to be free of contradiction before they can be published, so that they will make sense to humans and fulfil human expectation.

The Bible is not trying to fit into human expectation because it is a divine work and human capacity to understand things of the spirit is limited. It only seeks to let the truth be known.
