Mindfulness:"Feel attacked" how? Even the OP told us that he stumbled, explained why he thought it was an error on his part and advised people not to follow in his footsteps as per any normal Christian advice so what's the problem? It's not virgin=good Non-virgin = not good It's virgin = followed Gods commandment Non-virgin= didn't follow God's commandment And Non-thief= followed Gods commandment Thief= didn't follow God's commandment If you know you broke the commandment you accept that you've failed in that particular instance and take whatever comes of it and move on. You don't fly off the handle every time it's mentioned just to rubbish people who have managed to keep it because you feel bad about yourself. Does a thief reserve the right to get angry every time they mention "Thou shalt not steal" Won't you tell the fellow to pipe down and stop making unnecessary noise? There's a proverb in Igbo that says that an old lady gets touchy and agitated whenever dry bones are mentioned. I notice that every time chastity is mentioned on here people quickly fly to discount and make jest of it just to console themselves and it's not right in my opinion. |
sonmvayina:So where actually is the prophesy? Because the post you refuted is quite a standard explanation. |
GrayBeard:Thank you Sir |
sapientia:You're talking outside of the point. You said that Mary was not special but Joseph. You now changed to Joseph too is not special when you're the one who even brought out Joseph. See confusion smh |
GrayBeard:Yes, I have seen that but my point is still valid. Having a child out of wedlock doesn't mean that you're consigned to the dustbin but it doesn't mean that people who try to give birth in the order that God ordained should be derided. People here keeping saying "God can use anybody" as if people who try to do the right thing are stupid. Virgin or young maiden or whatever, pointing out a good quality in another person shouldn't make you flare and jump up to rubbish it unless you have an unresolved issue within yourself. It looks like inferiority complex if you ask me. That you failed somewhere doesn't mean everybody should fail too so that you will feel better. nB "you" here is an impersonal "you", not that I'm necessarily aiming my post at you |
Ikem11:But people still suffer the consequences for going outside of Gods plan right? What about Jonah? If she had said no she wouldn't have been as fulfilled as she later became We have a choice to say no to God but we shouldn't complain if we later begin to regret |
BitCraftman:I don't understand what that has to do with my comment. Anyway the requirement was just that she was childless and not that she was a virgin. We later took it to mean sexual purity. Which is not bad in and of itself |
sapientia:Yes and he almost dumped her when she found out she was pregnant. So she still had to take a lot onto her shoulders as "wife of Joseph" that a lot of other women wouldn't have liked to risk that kind of embarrassment for. |
BitCraftman:I was grappling with this concept after reading. God still used immoral and undeserving people to prove his points so is this argument not circular? But since the question is about Mary in particular, her own particular path in life was tied to being a virgin, among other things. How will you know what blessings you missed if you don't keep the law? That God redeems people when they fail doesn't mean they actually have license to indulge their failures. This is what people who are insulting the OP refuse to understand. See how they're flaring because of a simple message. Because God will still use non-virgins, that's why nobody should be encouraged to remain chaste right? Smh |
bindukwe:Yes! I'm interested. It's something for me to chew on |
CeterisXVII:Lol yes o, I understand. Your exasperation was showing through to the point that I dont even need a translation haha ![]() |
Jaqenhghar:Youre getting too emotional. Its not a "point of view". Its a statistically proven fact that children born to single parents are worse off in life. All these exceptional circumstances youre giving dont change that. Stop talking talking like marriage is irrelevant when its been objectively proven that it isnt. |
bindukwe:So why are they still sacred? |
PerfectMatchNG:If they care enough to do all that then they should also be loving enough to understand that their brother needs some space with his wife, Gracias |
Bestlily and Blankstare you people shouldn't mind those small-minded people o, history is great! Jisie ike ooo our dear "memory cells" ![]() |
Originalsly:Lol awon zoom in and crop |
Jaqenhghar:I don't think that acknowledging that some circumstances of birth are more ideal than others is necessarily wrong. It's a fact that being born to married parents is better for a child than being born to a single parent. That's not condemning them, its just the truth. |
Jaqenhghar:You are not serious |
Gforce2015:I think this was a smart strategy; I'm quite surprised She just got her son and cleared herself. No evening newspaper talk |
CeterisXVII: these Yoruba nuggets you keep leaving just dey sweet me and I can't even understand what you're saying hahaha |
1Sharon:Did you go through the thread? I concurred several times that our haircare practices are lacking yet you kept droning on and on as if you're the only person who's ever watched a YouTube tutorial before. Saying that putting attachments in children's hair is "self-hate"and stating categorically that 1Sharon:Will definitely evoke a response because it's a controversial opinion. If you have something to say state your case, argue intelligently and take in what other people say before responding. Don't vomit ignorant statements all over and then start whining when people challenge you on them. Nobody is your slave here that we have to take your condescending, arrogant diatribes lying down. |
1Sharon:Nawa for you o, I acknowledged your view several times and you still ran about insulting everybody over nothing. midnighter:Maybe you should try actually reading what I wrote next time instead of talking off point smh |
She can experiment with light lipgloss with a light colour or faint glitter. Those tiny metallic lipgloss palettes (pink, purple, clear) with a tiny applicator inside She can paint her toenails any time. She can paint her fingernails during the holidays She can apply traditional pigment dyes like Uri or Laali or Henna on a special occasion. I don't really believe in "white powder". I think a good moisturiser is better if you're worried about the kids face looking shiny. When she reaches maybe 14 I can allow her to clean up (not carve oo) her brows if she has very thick ones. She can sew in a few tracks of weave-on This is all under the age of 16. After 16 she can carve and draw on her brows She can wear foundation, setting powder, lipstick and fix her nails and lashes on special occasions I think almost any type of wig or weave on is also obtainable after 16 as long as its not too flashy And this is all with her fathers permission |
Biglittlelois:Yes lol I also saw some isoko guy with a pointy nose and thin lips. I asked him if he was Fulani and he told me that everybody asks him that. Maybe it's even the same fellow sef Very funny argument lol |
Surrey2Bimshire:Yes! That's what I can't understand. Even just walking down the street you can find people with long noses and thin lips so I don't see the point she was making. If she had said that people sometimes value those features more than the flat nose/big lips that are more common, which can lead to discrimination, I would see her point. Because its true. But she's arguing like some report from some colonial governor from pre-independence..."it's absolutely impossible for the typical Negro male specie to possess a nose that raises to a point..." Crazy! |
Surrey2Bimshire:Lol yes o! Imagine a black person being racist back to you on top all that we're suffering already smh Even Malcolm X and Martin Luther King fundamentally disagreed with each other yet still had a good relationship. But apparently everybody who doesn't slavishly follow her own opinion must be "ignorant" smh |
Surrey2Bimshire:Hahaha No be small Shea butter o ![]() The thing is that the extremism ends up going full circle until you sound just as racist as the people you're fighting against. Look at some of the language and sweeping generalisations she's using to describe people. And when you probe her on it now she starts dodging your questions and insulting you because she knows that there's no basis for what's she's saying at all. Just like a typical racist! I asked her what kind of facial features she saw in Nigeria on her last visit and she can't answer that simple question yet she's still arguing that black people always look a particular way. Does it make sense to you at all ![]() Delusion smh |
Surrey2Bimshire:Is it not what I've been asking her since? If it's impossible for a black person to have those features then what did she see when she came to Nigeria? What does she see in her own family even? You can see that she has been dodging that question. Instead of looking down on people why not make an effort to understand their choices and what drove them? It's difficult to be a black woman in this world and different people have been affected by that in different ways, one of the primary ways being our hair. If you're as woke as you say you are then you should understand how entrenched the hatred for Afro hair is in society and how it has trickled down into our consciousness. Not arguing about yaki and blond as if people are too stupid to understand why they style their hair the way they want to style it smh |
Surrey2Bimshire:I understood where she was coming from because we have a problem with not being proud of our hair in its natural state compared to other races but I was just telling her not to generalize it to everybody, especially people plaiting their kids hair who are just trying to make the style look neat. Instead of acknowledging that people have their reasons for using attachment that are not necessarily because of "self-hate" she ignored it and began to fixate on the word "blond" smh Everybody does something to enhance their beauty...sometimes due to self-hate and sometimes not! So you shouldn't go about policing and attacking people without even considering the context of their behaviour. This is why she ended up being racist instead of enlightened. Not all black people do the same thing for the same reasons. To assume so is racism! |
1Sharon:Lol! You'd better start caring because you need His forgiveness for your lies smh! Unfortunate people everywhere. I hope you don't disturb those UK people too much sha, we don't really want to see you here until you receive small sense better remain there until thenI'm sure you will be all right in the end! |
1Sharon:So anybody who is reading this can see that I've asked you up to 3 times whether you saw what you claim is true for all black people when you visited Nigeria, which you've refused to answer because you know that you're a total liar! Ezi ekeresimesi Maybe on Wednesday you'll begin to ask us what type of nose Jesus has smh |
