Sequel to the write up of pastorosadame on (Holy Ghost baptism) I had to come up hear, to make some clarifications and make it known to this house of God, so we not be dissuaded from faith by some not so true doctrines.... the peculiar thing about Christianity is the ability for we all to take the bible home, study it at our quite time, grasp and understand it with the help of the holyspirit while breaking away from stereotype,prototypes or perceived norms and dogmas... The write up of Pastorosadame, on Holy Ghost baptism and speaking in tongues is not totally right,(his write up on the means of getting it, are right, but the substance and use of it flawed)... their are so many misconceptions i'll want to set aright (of course using the bible as my succour)...

The evidence of Holy Ghost baptism is speaking in tongues; true, but that is just 1 of the evidence out of the many abound, others include the various gifts of God, Viz a Viz : prophecy, discernment, visions, healing e.t.c

In the book of acts 2:4 - after all men waited and the spirit of God fell upon the ; All men spake in tongues (of other languages) people from over 12 different tribes heard them speaking in their languages and were baffled as to how they learnt such.... How many "in tongues" that are spoken by nowa days Christians do they speak in other languages?
(More of what we hear are Vain Repititions and blabbing; and this was exactly what Jesus Christ warned against when he taught us how to Pray (avoiding blabbing and vain repitations like pegans) Math 6:7 )

When you read down to acts 2 :17 when men that heard them(disciples) thought they were drunk, peter Told them, it is Joel's prophecy ' in the last days I'll pour my spirit upon all flesh, sons shall prophesy, young men shall see visions...

In the book of 1 corr. 14 ; when Paul was advising the church of Corinth on conduct in church...vs 1,5 Paul stressed on the need to prophesy, rather than speaking in tongues (for it only edifies ones self, and not the church) Vs 19 : I'll rather speak 5 words with understanding, than 10,000 words in unknown tongues...
Paul further adviced that when speaking in tongues, it should be done in your closet, but if u MUST speak in church; let it be by 2 or 3. And their must be people to interprete , if there are non to interprete then U Must Keep SILENT(Vs 27,28) ... he (paul) rather encouraged free flow of prophesy in church

This instructions are contrary to what our churches practice today? The issue of in tongues has so been bastardized, and everyone compelled to speak Vain words with repitations and claim it's in tongues against the doctrines snd stipulates of the bible.... forgetting that the spirit of "tongues" is a gift that not everybody must have, some might have other gifts as mentioned above, and it shouldn't be vain words, they should be words that can be interpreted by someone blessed with the gift of interpreting....

Please, We should all read our bible, understand it, and digest it... Most of the practices we see in our churches today are anti christ teachings... we seem to be swiftly deviating from christian norms, and no one is saying anything, it really bleeds my heart.

Great post. We pray this failing generation of parenting would wake up and smell the coffee fast before it gets too late (though it almost too late ).We should ensure the first inheritance we leave to our children are spiritual inheritance such as secrets to sou d walk with God ,then , othe kinds of inheritances such as honor,values principles and core value for relationship.WE HAVE EXAMPLES TO LEARN FROM EVEN IN NIGERIA OF NOW.May the Lord guide us on this path .

I'm still in my youthful years and just as you have expressed, I want to continue in this path for a very long time in devotions to prayer , worship , the word and fasting.

You are not alone. I literally burn physically while reading the scriptures or listening to some preachers. The tingling sensations and many other physical signs happen too but I love the heat the most. I feel like it burns off rubbish from my life.

I can go on and on but Nairaland is not a good place for such talks.

So, something happened to me for the first time after a 12 hour prayer charge with Lawrence Oyor mid last year.

At the closing of the prayer program, i started sensing this feeling of something resting on my head like a cool liquid. But when I touched my head i found my hair/head dry.

I thought it was the AC, so being befuddled, I asked my friends and neighbors if they felt any cool liquid sensation on their heads too, but they all said NO. This experience lasted for 4hrs that day.

Since then , I occasionally feel this cool liquid sensation , sometimes during prayer or before prayer .

Today, something happened. I came back from work this evening and It was already my prayer time but I didn't feel like praying.

I turned off the alarm so I could escape the reminder . Then instantly there was conflict in my soul and a great urge to pray . I could recognise that urge anyday, it's the feeling I get anytime when I try to resist the urge to fulfill my once addictive habbits .

Immediately, I started feeling the cool liquid being poured on my head again and it's been more than 4hours now and I still feel it as I'm typing .

I prayed, prophesied , and even penned down inspired teachings and knowings I never learnt from anyone or heard before. It was like I had access to someone else's mind and I was feeding off their intelligence. I would ask a question and also get feed backs instantly with more insights and instant knowings. The thoughts and knowings were not mine or concocted by me.


It was an amazing experience and I know there are still more abilities to explore in subsequent experiences. I still feel this sensation right now. And I know it's spiritual.

Are there folks who have had such or similar experience here ? Maybe burning sensations, or tingling sensations during any spiritual activity ... If yes, Would you be keen to share yours?

I had similar experience. I followed my pastor to a programme those days to a fellowship in OOU. It was a Friday. As we returned, we had our monthly vigil being the last Friday of the month. Incidentally it fell on a day I was finishing a hundred days six to six fasting. I( used my youthful energy for things like that).


As we're about finishing the programme of the day, I was praying outside, and white pacing up and down, I had a short vision. Oil was dripping from my right hand to the ground. I slipped back to consciousness. From that day till now, more than twenty years after, I still feel it but not as frequent as those days.. But, with more prayers, I gathered other experiences in my prayer room.

To manage the experience and even enter a deeper realm you have to read the Bible more. Not reading books about the Bible . Then cultivate the habit of prolonged worship and speaking in tongues for at least 12 hours and even more once in a while. Fast often also. The more the better. It is a sweet experience. When next you experience it , use the opportunity to pray for any sick around. You will see wonders.
It is a wonderful experience.

Don't listen to lazy people that theorize on Nairaland. Go deeper in God, godliness, and power of God.
It is s better to experience God than to have empty arguments.

Now we know that lots of Christian fundentalists subscribe to the notion of speaking in tongues.
This is an act which the early apostles engaged in while in the upper room. I clearly understand it as speaking in a language/tongue foreign to yours. For instance, a Greek man speaking Hausa. That'd definitely qualify as " speaking in tongues", which would be a far cry from the today's church's version and interpretation of the tongues.
However, I see it as an exercise that wouldn't serve as a prerequisite to getting to God's Kingdom.

By liberality, I think you are being careful not to get deep with God. You choose what is reasonable to you. That's fine. But, if you view things that way you would not be a Christian at all. Do you believe that Jesus was s born of Virgin Mary? I think yes? Is the birth humanly or scientifically reasonable? You believe it anyway. No. So is baptism of Holy Spirit. Without the experience, you will just be wondering and ever asking questions.

I was like you years back in the University. I had been healed of Migraine by accidentally straying into a fellowship gathering.
I joined another fellowship. To show my appreciation to God, I joined the choir. In the choir, we were having a week of fasting every semester.
It was in one of the prayer sessions that another student prayed with me and I received the baptism. It was the interdenominational fellowship controlled by Anglican priest who didn't believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit then!
From that point I began to speak in tongues. Initially, I didn't understand whatever I was saying. Then I stopped but I must pray! Before I would say two or three sentences, the tongue would come.


I think the Holy Spirit saw my frustrations. Whenever I prayed thereafter, what I was praying for would be registering in my mind. Confidence came and I continued. Later for hours. The longer the sweeter.

So the experience would not be absolutely be given by any person' s experience or arguments of those who don't have it.

John.3.8 - The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.


Just crave for the baptism and release yourself. That, I think is the best way.

JW's want us to believe they don't believe in any organized government. Yet they have a Governing Body.in the GB there is a president. There would be officers overseeing various departments . The GB was eight before the recent time when the number grew to ten.
There must be a process to select or elect these ones. Is that not politics?
