Many people may be surprised after reading the header, but just take some time to consider my points and then make up your mind. I think Islam was made in such a way to give importance to the arab nations and culture. 1. Why the emphasis on learning Arabic language? It is mostly believed that the best way to read the Koran is in Arabic. I think this is just a way to propagate the Arabic language. Why not encourage translation. Why must we all go to Koranic school. 2. Why is a trip to Mecca so important that it is one of the pillars of Islam? This trip brings a lot of revenue for Saudi Arabia. God is everywhere. Why must I go to Mecca?. 3. Muslims almost neglect their local names in place of Arabic ones. You can hear names like Zainab Mohamed, Hammed Ibrahim, etc. Though this also applies to Christians. Its not as rampant. 4. Muslims are encouraged to dress like Arabs in order to show religious devotion. Why must I dress with hijab or Jalamia complete with turban? If you look carefully, it seems to be and look like a good muslim, you automatically become an Arab. Even when u pray, you have to face Mecca. Islam seems to be a very good method of Arabic Colonization.
The God of Islam in in Mecca.

Ladies dress to impress themselves. Men would prefer them unclad. What men look for in women is not the worth of cloth, jewelries or colour of make up. I don't know how many men knows the or cares to know the worth of their wife's earrings, bags, hairdo etc. This are women affair which they discuss and copy among themselves.

Christianity EtcRe: True Knowledge Of The Bible And Holy Qur-an by MightySparrow:
I believe, reading through the Bible a number of times
alone without reading any other book on interpretation,
that other religions trying to build on the Biblical
foundation do not understand the general principle of the
Holy book. After reading some parts of Quran, The Light of
Truth, and some Jehovah Witnesses articles and books.
I would rather prefer if the first two did not refer to the
Bible at all. In trying to make Bible their foundation makes
mockery of their revelation. The Quran stories are
disjointed, For instance, in the House of Imran and the
Woman, you come across Moses and Elizabeth mother of
John living together. This contradicts the secular history
of Jews like to say Jonathan was a politician in the time
of Usman Dan Fodio. Many other fallacies are contained
in the Quran. It does not matter how many illustrates refer
the writ. The history of Yoruba for instance, is better told
by yorubas rather than an angel coming to twist history of
more than three thousand years. Notable of these is who
was to be offered by Abraham: Ishmael or Isaac?
The Light of truth likes to picture Christianity in the light
of Catholicism. The form of Christianity known to (Oskar
Ernst
Bernhardt, 1875-1941) in his time. I do not know much
about Eckankar or read their books if they have any. If any
one knows how I can get one feel free to tell me. I do not
want lectures o. I can read by myself.
Quran is not subject to criticism. It must be protected by
gullible believers like this OP, trying to reason things out
is haram worthy of death. The reason middle east has
never had and will never have peace.
The Bible is the only book that gives vivid and logical
account of creation and its prophecies are never fail to tell
us where the creation is heading to.
No science or philosophy has been able to discredit the
Bible. In fact, scientific heavy weights like Faraday,
Newton, Einstein, Galileo etc have good interaction with
the writ that sharpened their minds.
This OP like I wrote needs medical attention.

This useless article must have been written by a Christian. In the north, mosques do not pay electricity bill but churches do. Churches do community projects. most of the primary schools and secondary schools that are now Government schools were built by churches. I know churches sink boreholes, buy transformers, run orphanages, rehabilitation centres for drug addicts, give scholarship for indigent students.

How else dou want churches to giveback to the nation?

Christianity EtcRe: Millions Now Living Will Never Die! by MightySparrow: 10:23am On Oct 11, 2014
1. Could there be any more direct evidence of an organization
that promoted false prophecy in the name of God? How
could Rutherford say that his followers had more reason to
accept his prediction of 1925 than Noah had to believe the
words directly spoken by Jehovah?

2. "We cannot be blamed for presenting from the Scriptures
such evidence as they afford which leads us to believe that
a certain event will take place at a given time. Some times
the Lord has let His people looking for the right thing at the
wrong time, and more frequently they have looked for the
wrong things at the right time. But all the enemies of the
cause of present truth in the earth are fervently hoping that
the Bible students will not be so successful in 1925 in
looking for the right thing at the right time as they were in
1914. if they are, however, it will be the other fellow that
will have to do the explaining, and not we." Golden Age
1924 Feb 13 p.314

3. "Question: Have the ancient worthies returned?
Answer: "Certainly they have not returned. No one has seen
them, and it would be foolish to make such an
announcement. It was stated in the 'Millions' book that we
might reasonably expect them to return shortly after 1925,
but this was merely an expressed opinion; besides it is still
shortly after 1925. ... Some anticipated that the work would
end in 1925, but the Lord did not state so. The difficulty
was that the friends inflated their imaginations beyond
reason; and that when their imaginations burst asunder,
they were inclined to throw away everything." Watch Tower
1926 pp.196,232

?.....................................?.?........................................................

I have always thought and still believe that JWs do not understand the Bible. I salute their tenacity to whatever they profess and commitment to spreading same but reading through their articles, you could pick certain flaws. Even, when some things are obviously true, in an attempt to defend the organization rather than Jehovah, they feed folks with chaff. Vast majority of them never study the Bible but memorize a small book ' Reasoning from the Scriptures' to answer possible questions.
I want to submit, they do not understand Christianity at all.
In the same vain, I think their knowledge of Bible prophecy is dismal. When not understood, they begin unnecessary interpolations to defend their claims.

'Some anticipated that the work would end in 1925, but the Lord did not state so. The difficultywas that the friends inflated their imaginations beyond reason; and that when their imaginations burst asunder, they were inclined to throw away everything." Watch Tower 1926 pp.196,232'

I have read, recently, their book no Daniel's Prophecy, I have certain problems with the way they arrived at dates.

In Biblical prophecy, two people can be talking about the same time and one sees the mountain tops while the other sees valleys. A line of prophecy can mean different times and all that.

This has been the failure of ministries that major on Biblical prophecy interpretation. The last of which I am aware of is one Harold Camping, who was cork sure that rapture would take place on 23rd May, 2012. He used to give lectures on a SW radio frequency then.

The twist in certainty of believe over time, may not be known by their followers of nowadays who would not read history or study other writers by themselves but believe that every thing within their circle is correct.

Reiyvinn post=/post/26827049:
John 12:41 does not refer to Isaiah 6. There is no
proof of that!
The only places Isaiah talks of a messiah are Isaiah
7:14, 9:6, 42, 53! (one of which may have possibly
referred to)
John 1:1 talks of the Word being WITH God. How can
the Word be THAT God he is with?
"The Word was God" according to the Bible, only refers
to Jesus being "in the form (Gk, Morphe) of God" (Php
2:6) whereby, since he is called the "begotten/born
son of God," he carries what is sort of like "God's DNA."
He, according to the Bible, has God nature and fullness
but is NOT God himself!
I guess you are one of JW's.

MightySparrow:
I guess you are one of JW's. The same challenge I have with you is that you do not follow texts logically but brings statements out of context and build doctrine around it.
Argument always bring dishonesty. You want to prove how right you are, even if you know you are wrong.

Read these texts carefully and follow the argument and proceedings. Isaiah six is talking about no other person but Jesus.
Let us reach a conclusion, I still will ask another question.
I will like the discussion to continue. I have been waiting for the conclusion that Jesus was the one seen in Isaiah 6. John 12: 41 clearly stated that. Among all writers of the Bible, John's writing is the most weird and could be controversial about Jesus. If you have explained the word glory, I would have ask another question. I have read the Gospel according to John God knows how many times from different versions. I mean reading it alone not things written about it. In the discussion of chapters 14 - 17, you come across mind boggling statements. if John is correct, Doctrine of Trinity is valid.

CareerRe: It Is A Fallacy That No Knowledge Is a Wasted one by MightySparrow: 7:16pm On Oct 07, 2014
Serendipity:
Undoubtedly the saying that no knowledge is wasted appears axiomatic and arguably sacrosanct.
=
In his book ''Think Big'', (pp. 200-212) Ben Carson argues that you never can know what you will be doing fifteen years from now hence one should grab every available knowledge.
=
He cited an incident where he was before an interviewer who mentioned en passe that he had heard about a concert and he also quipped that he too had heard about it which visibly left the interviewer surprised and they then started discussing classical music..
He contends that that knowlege of classical music was instrumental in his success in that interview.
=
=
MY OPINION
Methinks that having or acquiring some knowledge is sheer and utter waste of scarce time and resources.
-----------------------------------------------
For example, I don't see how the knowledge of how to prepare a cake or sew clothes would have a significant bearing on my life if I were a lawyer. This is truer given that I may never get the time to come and be sewing clothes or making cakes for either myself or family.
Even if I would get to use them in future, wouldn't it be once in a blue moon as in Ben Carson's case.
---------------------------------------------
In high school, I was very good at the use of Pitman Shorthand. An aeon has elapsed since I left junior secondary, and I have never got to use not even a vestige of the knowledge I acquired in that subject.
=

Again, acquiring some of this otiose and apparently irrelevant knowledge may be at the expense of knowledge which would have been more apt and handy. In other words, you may be wasting time acquiring knowledge that has not even a modicum bearing on your life or knowledge you may never get to use due to your discipline.
=
At any rate, I suggest that it would be stellar to have a smattering of many things.
=
Your methodical views are welcome!
What if your child is given an assignment on how to bake cake, though you are a lawyer and your contribution will earn her more mark? The knowledge you gain now may not be useful to you but others sometimes.

Hello nairalanders, trust you all had a lovely weekend.
Something really is bordering my mind about creationalism.
The christian holy book describe God as the creator of the whole universe and everything that is in. Never the less book of Genesis also stated that God created man in his own image which implies that God must have posses the same features as man.
The greatest confussion of the creation was that religion believes that God was created out of nothing and yet He(God) created man in his own image.
My thoughts: if we should belive that God in the image of man was created out of nothing, wont it be possible to believe that man was also created out of nothing.
Am just an agnostic trying to create sense out of nonsense.
Why is there so much attacks on the BIBLE AND NOT on other writs e.g. Quran, Veda, etc?
