agaugust: no dude, the side that runs away and cannot hold territory is the loser. boko haram could not capture even one house and defend it in nigeria.Yes,when your army shows up BH will retreat after destroying a lot of equipment overtime your air force will be reduced to a few a jets and attack helicopters. Boko Haram is winning because it still retains its anti-craft guns and is gaining more weapons(captured),while your armed forces are losing expensive equipment like helicopters. Boko haram loses a few AK-47 or AKM armed men, that is not a problem as long it can still recruit, train and arm compared to the enemy which is losing the equipment that allows it to hold the edge over the insurgents. NIGERIA IS LOSING THE WAR. The chants and screams of "ALLAHU AKBAR" are getting or moving close to Abuja. |
chris365: Don't mind fighter pilot. As if denel builds weapons to dash SANDF.What's drones? NAF doesn't develop any high tech drone. Don't even talk about that funny Ameabo. Many of your drones need air strips to operate which on the African battlefield are hard to protect, cause many air forces aren't that capable like Nigeria's. |
agaugust: .The drones in kruger are mostly donated. Recently we saw the donation of a attack helicopter. Poachers are not a military threat but Boko Haram on the other hand is blowing up MI-24s in bases, yet your air force plus satellites can't locate where their stolen APCs,Hilux land cruisers plus other vehicles are. |
agaugust: yes, 3 submarines and 2 LPD/mini aircraft carriers for nigerian navy by 2018.As if I should believe Angola is getting an aircraft carrier. South Africa already has a project(project millennium) to acquire 2 or 3 LPD. Talking about future acquisitions doesn't improve the current capabilities of the Nigerian armed forces, which is even incapable of bringing back its equipment from Mali cause they were flown there by the RAF. South Africa will soon get heavy lift transport planes for the interim many sources indicating the Russian made II-76 might be chosen. |
agaugust: south africa manufactures artillery guns but has only 120 units.Nigeria is a dumping ground for western and old USSR weapons. Majority of your 660 artillery units are just crap from the old USSR. Which Nigeria cannot maintain during a full blown. |
agaugust: very sure, our submarines and mini aircraft carrier/LPD should have arrived by that 2018. we already have one of the world's top 10 largest navies in terms of number of vessels, and nigeria has the biggest navy in africa now based on vessels number. You in terms of rust buckets in your ports?. South Africa has the best navy in Africa. "Your submarines"? Stop dreaming!!!!! If that's it then Angola will have the navy cause they're rumoured to be acquiring an ex-spanish aircraft carrier. So we should believe that!!! |
NaijaPikinGidi: Boko Haram will lead Nigeria the day the South African white minority Afrikaaners take back power!Afrikaaners are not bombing or blowing up our air force. In matter of fact 2 squadron is activated all Gripens are flying or took positions to defend key locations across SA,backed by 85 combat school's Hawk lead in fighters. |
Henry120: According to SIPRI, nigeria purchased at total of 9 unmanned aerial vehicles from Israel in the period of 2006-2007. With 3 other nigerian made UAV's, we got 12 UAV's in service, and africa's biggest UAV fleet.Nigeria has the biggest UAV fleet in Africa?. You're such a comedian. |
agaugust: 50% of south africa's population still cooks with firewood...go solve your problem, leave nigeria with its ownDon't even talk about power/electricity. We all know power cuts are so bad in Nigeria. I'm 70% sure you have a generator in case of power cut. More 70% of Nigerians don't even use electricity. |
agaugust: .Thank you Agaugust!!!!!!. This here shows us that Boko Haram will lead Nigeria in the future. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. |
Obrafour: Can someone please explain how a small country like Rwanda keep on humiliating a country like the DRC? The DRC outnumbers Rwanda in terms of troop numbers and equipments, but they are always complaining about Rwanda on BBC, how?Poor treatment of soldiers(salaries etc),ill discipline, logistics, training, insiders, tribalism are some of the issues that make FARDC weak and enable to fight well. But in the latest fighting under a new command/General the Belgium and South African trained units fought well artillery and MRLS. Rwandan troops are well looked after compared to their DRC counterparts. |
Uyi Iredia: How weapons are used are also crucial. This includes, their deployment, how they are used in the overall strategy, hidden innovations they might have. So don't underestimate an army because you have better tech, just don't, the British did that to some Zulus and got 'bullfücked'. The more important thing is if the NA are well trained, have good intelligence and master tacticians. They don't seem to IMO going by the war on Boko boys.Funny you're bringing up South African military history. The Zulus used tactics of the great warrior king Shaka to smash the British. You must remember King cetshwayo ka mphide was captured and arrested. He won a battle not the entire war. |
NaijaPikinGidi: If wishes were horses, Mike..ZA will own or ride one! Show evidence of your greatest wishes for Boko Haram success against NAF assets ... Or just shut up already Mr. Hollywood! Can you read? If you can. Did you read my link? I will post this one for you-----» itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-32917/ Also read this quote from the link. "But Boko Haram's fighters have SURVIVED many assaults during the 4-1/2-year-old insurgency. After RETREATING this year to remoter areas, including the forested Gwoza hills near Cameroon, they have mounted deadly COUNTER-ATTACKS and stepped up killings of civilians they accuse of collaborating with the authorities." |
rka1: They can fight back because it is an ideology and they have a lot of recruits both from within and without, i.e. Shuwa Arabs, Nigeriens, Malians, Cameroonians, etc. There are a lot of foreign fighters and BH recently called for Islamic Fighters to join their campaign. Added to this is collusion from some members of the armed forces.Don't be surprised when arab faces show up among the BH ranks, veterans of the Mali conflict and Libyan civil war. Like you're saying an enemy that is able to put fresh troops at the position of dead ones, should be taken seriously. AK7s,AKMs and RPGs can be easily acquired in that region after the Libyan war,all BH needs is to keep its propaganda machine well oiled to gain or attract new recruits. |
drag_on: boko haram a ,military threat please.? Who did they kill in the attack? How many of them were killed? Were they repelled? There was no curfew before the attack, the curfew came after they attacked. It is the desperate attempt of a dying group trying to raise flagging morale.Helicopters down?.There are about 3 or 4 on order before now so what? The planes they got were probably the de-commisioned MIGS. You guys can't deal with poachers that use asymmetric tactics with hit and run and you think you can deal with boko -haram that blend into society? Two helicopters probably Mi-24/35 used to attack BH plus plus some de-commissioned planes. Now BH is blending into society? I thought you said they were driven into remote areas further north. An enemy that has armoured personnel carriers and able to use them in well coordinated attacks is dying? They even captured some vehicles. Here's question: WHERE WERE YOUR AIR FORCE'S F-7 AND ALPHA JETS DURING THIS ATTACK THAT LASTED FOR MORE THAN 3 HOURS?. You asked us the same question regarding the bangui battle. |
rka1: @ Mike ZA,Don't be silly, Nigeria is not losing the war. Why do you think the base was attacked? Because the Air Force has been inflicting heavy casualties on BH. The question you should ask is why were the Air Force caught napping and should have anticipated the attack because of their successful operations against BH.Air force base+ Civilian air port. I can bet that BH has destroyed more air force assets than your armed are reporting, controlling the flow of information from the North will backfire when attacks increase during this festive season. This does not show desperation it is a show of power by BH that it is still capable of hitting back with a greater force or well coordinated military attack. Desperation will be shown when the force is totally driven underground resorting to suicide bombers and propaganda. NOT NOW. THIS WAS A DARING ATTACK!!!!!!!!! |
Fighter Pilot: Yes, you are right. The wars which you faught are nothing compared to those South Africa faught from the WW1 to date.Remember when they said three months is all they need to destroy BH?. Nigerians were taken to fight the japanese in Burma, because they COULD CARRY AMMUNITION AND OTHER SUPPLIES WITH THEIR HEADS in the thick forests where vehicles couldn't operate. The Nigerian army didn't fight in world war 2. That would be like South Africans saying the SA army fought in sierra Leone cause SAns fought there. |
drag_on: Learn to deal with simple poachers first.Poachers are not a military threat. BUT THIS IS!!!!! ----------»www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/islamic-militants-attack-nigerian-air-force-base/article1-1158456.aspx# |
agaugust: south africa has NEVER won any modern day war fighting alone. stop fooling yourself dude.Nigeria is LOSING AS WE SPEAK. Two helicopter OUT!!!!!! Your satellites can't locate this armoured personnel carriers?. 500 insurgents able to move with massive vehicles with a curfew imposed. NEGOTIATE!!!!!!!!!! "Maiduguri (Nigeria): NIGERIAN AIR FORCE BASE Hundreds of Islamic militants in trucks and a stolen armored personnel carrier attacked an air force base and international airport on the outskirts of a Nigerian city before dawn Monday, officials and witnesses said, possibly leaving scores of people dead in one of the insurgent group's most daring attacks. Two helicopters and three decommissioned military aircraft were "incapacitated" in the attack, said a statement from Brig. Gen Chris Olukolade, the Ministry of Defence spokesman. He said some army bases also were hit." www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/islamic-militants-attack-nigerian-air-force-base/article1-1158456.aspx# |
agaugust: all your posts on this page a just garbage for the dustbin, issues that have been intelligently discussed from pages 1 to 867, you jus begin to twist facts and logic, then rant like a primary school kid who wants to explain his daydreams to his friends in classMike..ZA hit the nerve again? I'm even surprised you know a dustbin judging by your lack of common sense. 1. One on one the Nigeria navy can't win against the South African navy 2. One on one the Nigeria air force can win against SAAF 3. One on one with obsolete weapons, lack of vehicles for the African terrain, targeting systems, supply vehicles not flexible indeed the Nigeria army with its massive numbers can get its bums eaten by the SA army.................. Young ill experienced boys will run when African battlefield light up in flames, bush fires filling the skies with smoke. Long lines of supply/support vehicles slowing down the Nigerian machine, while taking precise hits from smart bombs. In short: The Nigerian mechanised units vehicles need a huge trail, which will slow down your forces. In need of water in the hot African climate. |
Troop101: AGAUGUST I hope you troops kick their BH terrorist backside real good. I hate people that try to destabilize a country.Boko Haram is not a military based problem and a military solution won't work or solve it. Remember when Goodluck said you should give him four months? And by then you will be thanking him for putting that state of emergency in the North?. Your "fellow Nigerians" here argued with my brothers @fighter pilot and @Thiza when they said one shouldn't put estimate time when going into such operation. NEGOTIATIONS!!!!!! |
chris365: Nope. Negotiation is off the table as they are being cornered. These kind of attacks are bound to happen every once in a while. What you should consider is the casualty figure and who still retains territory. Are blaming Cameroon now?. Now you realise how difficult it is to patrol boarders?. When the enemy slips between both boarders regularly?. You were claiming South Africa is failing to stop poachers coming from Mozambique. Now you're telling us about the situation only different in that Nigeria loses lives of Innocent civilians?. Don't be surprised when white faced terrorists(Arabs) start showing up among BH ranks, even black africans veterans of the Libyan civil war whom Muammar hired. |
agaugust: you said south africa does not need Super Tucano, so anything you dont have, means you dont need it. so south africa does not need to replace its ancient Dakota aircraft too since you dont have anything near nigeria`s ATR-42 Surveyor....foolEver heard about project saucepan? A project to replace them. Lockheed Martin's man in Africa was in South Africa last week to talk about most SAAF's needs. Even offering to talk to the USAF if SAAF needed transport planes speedily. South Africa is not involved in any counter insurgency operation,if we need COIN based aircraft the ARHLAC from paramount is available for SA and will be cheaper to operate. |
agaugust: i cannot speak for the russians and their satellites in angolan bush war, but you should worry about how they knew where south african army was at the time they almost encircled your huge battalions at the battle of quito carnevale in a pincer formation attack which made south africa afraid and called for peace negotiation. Why didn't they locate the G5 and G6 guns which kept firing even when the enemy enjoyed air superiority?. When the 32 battalion showed up the enemy ran leaving their weapons without putting any fight. THE TERRIBLE ONES. |
agaugust: you are the same dude that posted comment last month that Tanzania just purchased new F-7 jets and then you decided to rank them above nigeria without using your brain to compare their missiles and radars. The F-7s are a bunch of turkeys slaughter them please. And buy the turkey that has evolved to be a eagle which in this case Tanzania possess. Are we ranking air forces by judging their missiles not warplanes? The country with the better jets can buy new missiles, while the other will take A LOT OF TIME to close that gap. Cause jets will take more time than missiles to arrive. Similarity with the jets doesn't your pilots will just go "oh well I did this before'. It will take a further more training............................Nigerian love mentioning brains cause even to this day they're dreaming of having one. |
agaugust: JF-17 Thunder is equal to a Gripen jet in about all aspects. The Gripen has 120km radar, after SAAF acquires the A-Darter next year. A radar BVR missile will be acquired. The Gripen has a better EW suit. The Tanzania air force F-7 are more advanced than those of Nigeria, which use........WAIT FOR IT............FRENCH RADAR!!!!!!!! |
agaugust: nigerian navy does not need any support to sail to south africa through the ocean on free international travel routes.1. NNS Thunder and NNS Arandu will sail back to Nigeria with your grandmother's super natural powers? 2. NNS Thunder and NNS Arandu will take on Four stealth frigates(armed with torpedoes,Anti-ship missiles and AAM that can to used in the SAM role) plus a diesel submarine? 3. Your warships will fire anti-ship missiles, torpedoes,Surface to air missiles(against incoming missiles and attacks planes) simultaneously? 4. Your warships while trying desperately to lock in their radars on the SAN stealth frigates with SAAF EW planes making it more difficult, will be wide opened by torpedoes. |
agaugust: those are the classes of countries south african air force can intercept without a fight...mozambique, namibia, etcNigeria doesn't have stealth jets, meaning South African stationary radars can pick up your planes. No Nigerian plane can fly a sortie to SA without stopping somewhere to refuel. Also the fact that Nigeria doesn't have LGMs or PGMs to carry out such strikes. And Oh Namibia operates those F-7 jets too. |
agaugust: no anti-aircraft weapon has ever been fired against Rooivalk, not even any radar lock against it. your hjelicopter has ZERO combat test. The enemy won't get a chance to fire their weapons against the,Rooivalk because before they can even know the chopper is in the area rockets or missiles will be melting or causing their bodies to simply vapourite. The Nigerian civil war wasn't a high scale conflict involving all arms of the Nigeria armed forces, some like your air force weren't even exciting back then. Meaning we can't judge how good the Nigerian armed forces(Navy, air force and amy) are. You wanna say Nigeria is good when it was hiring Egyptians? |
agaugust: all air force F-14 jet pilots of Iran were in prison for coup plotting when Iraq attacked Iran in 1980 first persian gulf war.Your analogy is out of line here mr. Iran was not engaged a war against insurgents that required its armed forces to deploy in thousands like Nigeria now. Iran had REAL WAEPONS unlike Nigeria. |
agaugust: south africa is NOT able to maintain its Gripen jets at home, Sweden is doing the job for youOh you're saying so? You want me too prove you wrong again?. |
