This is wrong and false.

I have been able to interact with a lot of people from this thread who did interview and failed. They reapplied for other roles and were successful. An interview is a meeting where they physically assess you and your suitability for the role.

If you weren't successful, it means you were not suitable for hat role. You may be suitable for other roles.

Imagine applying for a role as the chief information security officer. At interview stage, the realise that you're not fit for the job.

Meanwhile you're really good at customer service.

I know others that were successful in an interview but unfortunately, the role has been filled or is limited. They'll keep you in a pool. So when next there's an availability, you're contacted ASAP.

Someone from nairaland was in this scenario for a couple of months. She has gotten an offer now.

Don't give up!
Hello Richmond. I worked for KBL between 2018-2020 and left after I got an offer from a state commission, pay is manageable but reason I left the bank was because they were delaying in my transferring me from DSA so I went here. Thing is here have not been good for my career as they put internal politics and servitude before career growth and achieving goals and target. My colleague back in the bank were converted however one resigned due to the pressure in the bank. I have been confirmed in the state and have even gotten promoted but here is not working o. I wonder if I can still move to a bank or you are aware any kind of institution (private preferrably) that I can move to. I await your response. Warm regards.

barrydee:
This OP is not wise at all.
Africa needs to grow beyond this mindset. Having a wife and kids is not an achievement but a fulfillment which by the way, different people have their own definition of fulfillment.

If you are a man in your 30s living in a difficult country like Nigeria, i advise you chase the bread to better your life & your future. If you stumble on a good woman while at it, you can marry her but if you allow societal pressure to make you marry one of these damaged, unproductive, & useless slay queens who are liabilities as a wife, sorry na your name.

You can still get married in your late 30s or early 40s and live a fulfilled life & by the time you are in your 60s, your kids would be in their eaely 20s keeping you company, running erands for you and making you happy while you relax and groom them to takeover your business/empire aince you utilized your youthful era to make some good investments.

Unlike those niggas who got married in their 20s using all their energy as youths just to fend, suffer and provide for the family. By the time they hit 60, no major investments, their kids have all abandoned them to begin their own lives/families making them feel lonely and abandoned. Only few lucky ones get regular visits, care and gifts from their kids at this point.
That's if their wives don't turn their kids against them.

well said. There's no formula for that. I have also seen men who married early, had kids in their twenties and ended up destroying their families with irrational decisions. Yes man and woman were built to be together but in this generation, there's too many bang mates and not much life partners. keyword is life partner and not husband/wife infact. life partner will be there with you if you're making 20 naira and stick till you make 2m. We have it twisted here. Make something out of yourself first and you'll see so many wives and husbands come around you then you'll decide your life partner

And Chinngyyy878, if you don't have money and you rush into marriage, the lamentation will be pro max. Your wife will finish you at home with nagging. You think marriage is a joke?

You will be scared to come home cuz of the nagging wife. She will blame u for everything. Brother, don't foolishly go on to carry burden of marriage when u know you are not financially balance o. You go hear whim.

You think a woman will respect u at home if u can't provide food for the home? The worst is if u marry a selfish woman who wouldn't want to use her own money to assist running the home. You will be the one feeding her as a liability without her contributing anything to the success of the home.

Man, look well before u marry o even if money come. If you marry a very bad woman, you are done for life. You won't have peace of mind o. Forget all those marriages that people are doing every Saturday. Majority don't last past 3 years, marriage don scatter.

So, my advise, remove that desperation of marriage from your mind and focus on your life for now to become financially stable as a man before you even think of anything marriage.

Ask those who are struggling financially and still rushed into marriage. They will tell you their experience. Marriage no be joke o. One thing is to have the money to marry and be financially stable, and another thing is to marry the right woman o.

So, look before you leap!
Na your quote make sense pass. while there are situations of men marrying dead broke at least have something that is bringing something monthly no matter how small. I am in my early thirties and about getting married, I work a job that pays over 100k and truth is if not my woman is not the current bitter feminist right now I for dey my lane o. I have worked in the bank and several jobs before but never considered marriage because I wanted to be agba baller first before getting married o but I checked some of my friends that are over fourty and not married and realized one thing. They all were waiting for the money to come. Thing is if your woman is supportive and she works (emphasis on her working o) you good and you can grow. That's why I look at guys who don't have a stable job but getting married or that babe marrying a yahoo boy that just hit money and rush marry. My dear una go see pass wetin Samson and Delilah see grin grin grin

It's really saddening. That cursed Raymond Dokpesi listed his AIT on the Stock Exchange, and millions of Nigeria including myself bought Shares in the company, after few years, that vagabond de-listed his company from the Exchange while the company is still existing, and without returning our investment. The fraudulent company continues to operate while nothing is being mentioned about our investment. Thoss criminals that run the Exchange watched as we are scammed because they are part of the gang. These so called rich men are hell bent on making the average Nigerians return to poverty level, so that they will have only the Rich and the Poor, the want the Middle Class completely erased. Our God will continue to punish them.

I had been studying Nigeria stock for potential investment in the future and it never makes sense. In the west you can make good money trading stocks but not in Nigeria. The report says that Israel didn't think that Hamas had the guts to execute the plan that's why Israel dismissed it.
That's what Israel wants the world to believe. That they dismissed it. How on God's green earth will Israel dismiss a plot by a known Terrorist organization and a state that hates their guts. It's just like doubting that the US had no idea of the 9/11 attack. Just as back then Bush and Cheney needed a good reason to invade the middle east under the guise of war on terror but to rather plunder their oil and military loot. Israel just needed a reason to reduce their numbers drastically. I refuse to believe that the CIA and Israeli Special Intelligence Agency didn't know about 9/11 and Hamas attacks

You lucky. And if you no dey speak portugese, e dey enter gear.

I love Brazil.

Back in the day, I leave America for Brazil, long story short, my brother no follow me go.

My guy, I started from square half no be even one.

The embassy people wey I follow catch flight enter Brazil, stayed in Rio, upper class area, I go them house for 3 days, with the hope say i go get hotel, they had to travel to Spain.

Na im I go fool*shyly go lodge for hotel, with only $2320, wey everybody scrape for me. My brother dun go back Naija, dey plot him asia trip. Long story short, after another 3days for hotel of $225 per night, my pocket weight drop. Na so I begin think about my future.

I sabi speak portugese, and I fit get along with people, so from talking to people there, on to say, I dey find where to rent, them direct me about 2 hours away, even hotel dey cheap. I run into some Nigerians for Rio, one tourist, and two people wey dey stay there, some igbos. (dem avoid me because dem no understand this kind guy wey ready follow them anywhere wey dem dey go, and I use style tall pass them, so them dey call me giant), me not knowing say, dem dey find way to shake me off - my boldness no pure to them , I no blame dem sha.

Na so i enter hood for Brazil(deliberately unnamed) based on direction from those hotel workers for Rio. O boy, I no cun know say na one chance I enter. I no been know say, gang war dey brew for area. I dey this hood hotel for 3 weeks, dey find where I fit rent for a month, but e no to pure. After 3 weeks, I cun dey see say, I no fit get place then go find work, where i go start. Mind you, during this 3 weeks, i dey reason am say, no be for me to enter Nigeria, then go restart - at least I still know Nigeria better, but shame no gree me - make I call am pride.

Anyways, one thing I do for my first 3 weeks for hood, na to dey listen and speak less, e help me hide my Nigerian side, but I no know say e make the two gangs wey get beef, dey look me like either mercenary or undercover. I no dey sleep, when I go back hotel for night, na so I go dey learn the accent of portugese based on slangs from one area wey I dey tell this mamaput lady, say na where I travel from.

One day, I dey the lady shop, na him, like 4 guys show up spray like 3 people down for the shop across the lady shop. The lady sun already wan close her own shop, matter of fact, that week na her last week. I cun convince the lady say make she give me 2 months, to help her hold down the shop, while she go the other city start her new shop; she also been wan do am because her 16 year old daughter dey misbehave and she dey suspect say the girl dun turn their house to gang hangout.

The week I take over the shop, by this week, I dun comot the hotel, dey sleep for back of the lady shop; The first week, 2 guys show like normal, begin blast for the shop, na him dem hit me for back and my hand - thank God e no hit me for worst place. Anyway, dem bandage me up, even the ekelebe no know me proper - I still dey form person wey come from village side. I speak portugese similar to that side.

Small small, I cun dey learn about everything. I no change the name of the small mamaput shop, but I begin make suya type of meat, next thing you know, the place cun dey busy even more, and more yawa cun dey dey around. The place na neutral side wey both sides fit show. No be only our shop there. Dem also know the lady but no cun dey see her, but with the new busy way, I dey sell suya dey put am for aluminum foil with sauce on the side. So, like joke, many of them cun dey hangout there. E get one 17 abi na 16 year old boy, wey dem dey call Anode, na him dey give me more news on the low down of the area and who be who. Before I forget, dem rob me twice in two months, use their weapon hit me well well, stab me for hand - nearly comot my finger wey I dey try hold one of the guy from beating me not knowing say na him knife I go hold, na so he draw the knife, e tear my hand - e take over 4 months to heal.

One day, that small boy Anode and him friend, come there dey chill for morning, dey talk to the bar side near the small shop wey i dey run, na so like another 2 small boys show for bike, clear anode, two of him friends, and one girl.

Long story short, I cun let like 4 people cun dey help me for the shop, small small, some of the guys wey dey the gangs cun dey see me like person wey dem go give respect, I dun collect from both sides and even small new gang. Ekelebe dun arrest me multiple times, dun even shoot at me for the shop because dem never see me before. I thank God. And I still dey work, with bandage, with everything, as long as i fit move, dem (the gangs, the ekelebes, the regular area people) never see anybody like that - dem no know say na condition make crayfish bend - na necessity for me. I dey baff, everything for the shop. E ruff for my first year and half. Me wey dey think say, I dun comot Nigeria, say I dun escape that kind thing. I dey tell you, many times for night when I dey shop dey sleep, na so dem dey do shootout for the street, over 100 shots or more. The shop and other shops, bullet holes everywhere.

Long story short, with time, sometimes dem go dey talk about yoruba and their wish to go there, and all these, na so I use cun dey find out say many of them na igbos, after them do gene test (wey dem dey trace their root to Africa). No be say everyday na war o, there were fun days. But the war days na hellellee. When i see say dem dun dey like Africa like that, I begin dey play all that timaya, p square, those early davido, wizkid, etc so my shop (by now, I dun buy the shop from the landlord wey that lady rent from. I dun get like 4 boys there. I dey good on both sides of the hood. The day wey dem wan do peace treaty, na my shop both number 1s come with other community leaders, by this time I dun dey sell isiewu sauce with rice, suya, kpuff kpuff, chin chin, peppersoup, rice and stew, jellof rice (like coconut rice type), and some of their food. I get 5 people wey dey work there, I dun buy the bar next door.

Na so o, in 19months, I no sleep reach 4 hours a day. If no be war, na future planning. Na so i use get into oil and gas and underwater welding, from one of my big dawgs wey come around one day. I do unpaid training like 2 hours away from the shop area. Then I cun get money, go Nigeria, cun enter yankee cun learn more, make money go back, open more shop for Rio, then cun buy delivery trucks, cun buy fashion store, from there cun dey try. E no easy, movie never finish. But, now I fit enter Brazil and be treated like citizens. When some of them cun know say I be Nigerian, dem trip. Dem no believe am. I speak like them. The area people see when I nearly kpai. I get scar for head wey bullet scrape me, my hand, back, chest, leg, Na God o. But I will forever be grateful to Brazil. Nothing but love. I put basketball court, build play ground, help many people, just like i dey do for Nigeria.

Things for take longer than normal, but na God. With time, I cun dey meet more Nigerians, mostly igbos, but I dun meet real Nigerian yoruba before too. Even those nigerians wey I see in my first week, dem be paddy now. I take my brother enter Brazil for visit, like 2016 abi na 17.

E plenty, but make I stop now. Memories.

Just humble when you dey there, Brazilians can get really rough. And small pikin fit dey take cocaine, so dem no dey too normal.

This is what you call hustle hard. I pray one day I can also share my journey

It's so sad that majority that called themselves Christians are nothing but hypocrite, religious bigots and people filled with ignoramus mind. It's so sad how we Christians celebrate and rejoice at the death of many in Palestine. Some even quoted bible to back up their acerbic celebration. The bible is holy and will never condemn the killing of another, let alone the killing of innocent children and women. We all condemned Russia invasion of Ukraine, we back US for helping Ukraine defend themselves but we same lot are the ones rejoicing over the killing of innocent Palestine. Sad sad sad. Yes we condemned the heinous acts carried out by the Hamas militants but the question is does everyone living in Palestine members of the Hamas group. This humanitarian crisis has to stop. This genocide has to stop. For those quoting me, I'm a senior Apostle of the Christ Apostolic church

Lol... So funny. If chastity can b seen and touched, I think am d living icon. Ok...

I didn't talk about d woman leaving an alleged promiscuous husband. I only found fault in d way she stalked and fought him.

To me, I think d woman was rather being unnecessarily insecure. Do u know how many times she accused and physically fought d man for infidelity? If u think the man isn't wot u can contain, simply pack ur bags and go. It's rather more honorable, dan disgracing urself up n down thinking ur helping urself.
Her act alone could make a man jettison d marriage and look for another wife.

I personally don't believe d man is as guilty as she makes him seem. Did she actually catch dem in d act..? How exactly? She's just being insecure. Every move d husband made na cheating! Just imagine, u carry ur sister go fight ur husband cos of wot? How does da sound in ur ears?
I would even advice any man da witness such to divorce d woman officially, and I believe dats wot d man did technically. Found another wife, move away from an abusive wife and start life all over.

More importantly, fight doesn't solve infidelity in marriage. Thank u

Moneyyman:
Hi, Millstone.
I see you're an old NL member, so I'm guessing you're not young in age. So, let's say you're over 30 now. I don't know much about your current state (married or not).

Kindly read this:

1. Your dad's mistake doesn't have to define you and your lifestyle. My mum always told me "even if your dad is an armed robber and I am a prostitute, you have no right to turn out bad. Your life is yours."

I have kept that concept since and honestly, it's the plain truth.

You'll need to heal and move on from your weed and hookup lifestyle. Your dad failed you, but you must not fail yourself.

2. Your dad is really destroying your brother. That's also your business, cos you're related by blood. But understand that you must save yourself first, before attempting to save another.

All I see is one drowning man attempting to save another, hence, your present conditions.

Heal first, save later.

3. You have done a lot (and still do) to make your brother straighten his path. Your dad is obviously a lost cause (unless Jesus saves him) and your brother is toeing his path.

I can't say much about our sisters, but I want you to realize that you're also an example that your brother is looking at.

Fix your life first and you'll have more grounds to help your brother turn his life around.

Imagine that the two male figures in his life are doing similar things -he won't change.

4. I'm going heavy here, don't be angry. Just take the message and work on it.

YOU ARE WALKING THE EXACT SAME LINE YOUR DAD WALKS. I KNOW YOU HATE AND RESENT HIS LIFESTYLE, BUT YOU ARE ALSO HEADED THERE UNLESS YOU CHANGE YOUR WAYS.

a. Your father womanises, you patronise prostitutes.

b. Your dad is violent to his partners, you are nearly there (weed and alcohol will push you over one day).

BY VISITING PROSTITUTES, YOU ARE TEACHING YOURSELF TO NEVER STAY WITH ONE WOMAN. EVEN WHEN YOU MARRY, YOU'LL FIND IT HARD TO NOT CHEAT ON YOUR WIFE, just like your father.

I tell you this so you'll see how your supposed "escape" (weed, alcohol, women) are the exact same bait into the trap you were escaping from.

The things you were running from became the things that trapped you.

Finally, ask yourself these:

i. DO I WANT THIS CYCLE TO CONTINUE WITH ME?

ii. DO I WANT TO BECOME MY FATHER?

iii. DO I WANT NY CHILDREN TO BECOME ME?

iv. IS THIS HOW I WILL LIVE MY LIFE?

You mentioned that your dad knew or was under Pastor Wale Oke (now the renowned Bishop Wale Oke, I presume) that is enough leverage for you to get your life back together. You can still access him and submit to learn.

You are not your father, so determine to live a different life. Your own turnaround will be more effective to help your brother.

Finally, find God again. You sound like your father's behaviours (cheating as a pastor/evangelist/minister, beating your mum, and lying that "God said she is the one"wink has driven you from God.

Believe me, you're likely facing spiritual battles from the demons plaguing your father. Go back to God and let him fix you gradually.

Peace, brother. May God help you.

Thank You for this. Although heavy your messages are realizations I have discovered and desperately want to work on. Addictions are not beaten over night and I am making conscious efforts towards beating them both physically and spiritually. I do not want to end up like him and in my findings I have realized alcohol and weed have on several occasions energized the monsters I do not want. I was first exposed to porn and sex addiction by my dad when i found some of his secret stash and as a child i was confused not gonna lie but i slowly slipped in. My introduction to prostitutes and later weed i found out the combination of weed and sex was a different feeling, one that felt too good but gradually I realized I was destroying myself and also fueling similar behaviors from my Dad. Yes the Pastor Wale Oke is the same renowned Bishop Wale Oke. In 2009 he cut him off citing his lifestyle and his treatment of his family. If my Dad had disciplined himself he would no doubt be levels above so many renowned ministers today. Apostle Johnson Suleiman was one of his members in the 90s, He ministered in Church of God in the 90s and early 2000s frequently because he worked briefly with the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, he even worked with the late Reinhard Bonke on some of his crusades and other renowned ministers too much to mention. I do not want to go into some details because I do not want some sensitive information leaked here for the privacy of my sisters and mom. My Mom still runs the church in Delta. Yesterday my mom called me, news have gotten to her and she now knows about my addiction problem. She only made me promise her not to end up like my father. I thank you for this, I have come to this realization and I hope I build the necessary discipline needed to become a better man. God Bless you.

You don’t have Jesus. You’re looking for love from a broken source. You’re supposed not to be in touch with that toxic man of a father. Sense is not so common. Anyway, move on with your life and forget those people. Get a boyfriend and enjoy your life.

Do you people even read to comprehend?

I read your story and I can tell you,you are a troubled woman, infact the way you write about your father clearly shows you are troubled.
Your mother has destroyed you for her selfishness.your mother was more concern about who her husband was sleeping with than the future of her children and been raise in a stable home, then she raised you with bitterness and hate towards your father and other children, then you blame everybody except her.my dear once you marry and give birth ,your role in life is your children and family first not yourself.your mother was a failure and I worry serious for the man who is going to marry you.

Lol... Reading and comprehension is very difficult for a nincompoop. If your retarded brain was working you would understand I am male. Well no need to reply you more. Please bask in your ignorance and failed attempt in sounding woke
