No, you only need to fill in the details in the information section when you fill in the details. Renesonz: |
If you have them and they don't negate the information on your application, yes. Davudu: |
Greenwich is okay but studying in the UK is what you make of it except you're in the likes of Oxford, Cambridge and the likes where a combination of your study efforts, course and the school name will be an advantage. From what I remember, there are no red flags. thelonehermit: |
No, it doesn't but if you tick all your boxes, dot your Is and cross your Ts, you have a very high chance of approval and any errors can be addressed via AR. thelonehermit: |
Biko, don't marry because of UK student visa ties. If required, you can state that upon the completion of your degree, you will be going back to Russia to rejoin your girlfriend to enable you start a family blah! blah! blah! as suited to your situation. Don't ever say that it is because there is no job as this can be miscontrued as your not wanting to leave the UK at the end of your course/PSW. You can even look at Nigeria to see if your degree will enable you to create a business that transverses Russia and Nigeria. Just be able to concisely state your reasons to show that you intend to leave at the end of your course if you get NSF emails. thelonehermit: |
Basically the funds, TB test cert and any doc that proves a genuine relationship between the main applicant and dependants. Check the 1st page for more info. Use the letters, payments and any docs to prove your GNLD distributorship, if required. You only need employment letters if you were actually employed. angel4sure: |
No, it is not necessary. Aieboocaar: |
Speak to the school. They are best positioned to advise you on this. nofij: |
No, it won't as long as your CAS states that you will be using your transcript. Transcripts and certificates are accepted by UKVi as standalone documents - you don't necessarily need to have the 2. micol10: |
Yes, completing a one-year MSc will qualify you for PSW. Easy is relative. Check Greenwich, Uni of East London, ARU London, Queen Mary University of London, Kings College London etc. Check the school's websites for their offerings and pick the one that closely matches your needs. Most schools end January intake applications by November for int'l students so check with the schools as January should be open now. I think you're better off applying in Russia where you live and probably earn but you should draw on all ties that you have there and in Naija in your application. If the organisation that you work with in Russia is happy to have you back after your course in the UK, state it and support with a letter authorising your study leave. Note: In light of the current tensions with Russia, the ECO might question your UK study as a means to "japa" from Russia so be prepared with docs and info. thelonehermit: |
Try to reach the companies for copies of your employment documents. If it is absolutely impossible to do the above, Write a cover letter explaining your situation. Attach your payslips and bank statements showing your salary payments for that period. Note that accepting this will be at the discretion of the ECO. fred900: |
Newspaper name change isn't a necessity for UKVI. The marriage certificate is sufficient as evidence of the change in her marital status/name. Araabmoney: |
IHS is only refundable if a visa isn't granted. If a visa is granted and you don't travel, it is not refunded. Gift7428: |
So sad to read this but this is normal; it is not peculiar to your school. If you attempt to travel, you will be denied entry at the border. As your school said, you'll need to defer to the next academic intake for your course, reapply with a new CAS, and pay visa and IHS fees for the next year as you will not be refunded. Whether you updated the school or not, they did not extend the final resumption date beyond July 5th which automatically meant that your CAS had to be withdrawn. The visa will not be updated to reflect your new reality. The above is based on a real-life situation like yours. The school stuck to its guns and UKVI did nothing to help. Positive side was that the visa for the next application was granted within 7 working days on a standard application process. A part of me wishes that something will give in this situation but the most likely reality is the above. I apologise if that is dampening to your mood. Lekeleke2022: |
Doesn't matter. Name change after getting married isn't compulsory. She can maintain her maiden name; if she wants to change the name on her passport, her marriage certificate is sufficient proof of name change for UKVI. akinyemire: |
You're welcome. Yes. You will need to show school fees + maintenance. School fees will be on the course page + the offer letter. Maintenance is in the UKVI link in my comment. For your wife: School fees or balance + maintenance of £1,334 per month * 9 months for inside London OR School fees or balance + maintenance of £1,023 per month * 9 months for outside London. For you, the dependant: Maintenance of £845 a month * 9 months for inner London OR Maintenance of £680 a month * 9 months for outside London. The dependant's application is hinged on the main applicant's. If you're applying at the same time, then get your documents and evidence at the same time. If not, get your documents (eg. TB test) like a month before you apply + the evidence your spouse's legal stay in the Uk (visa vignette/BRP/Student status letter. If applying within a few months of the main applicant, please ensure that the main applicant's POF or receipts (rent, tuition etc.) is available to show that the funds are truly available and not recycled, if requested at any point in time. https://www.gov.uk/student-visa DTOBS: |
Except you have a degree certificate granted by the UK or other English-speaking countries as recognised by UKVI. Also, if you showed evidence of such during a successful previous application, you don't need to show it again. Plus NARIC. https://www.gov.uk/health-care-worker-visa/knowledge-of-english donogaga: |
Yes, you can apply to join her later as long as you meet the requirements. Vitusvivi: |
1. Google is your best bet. Search for schools that have the course that your wife wants to study at. If you have particular locations, include that in your search. No one can do the basic research for you as people pick different schools for different reasons. You can try University of Kent, University of East London, Greenwich, Stirling Uni, Anglia Ruskin Uni, Northampton Uni, Oxford Uni, Cranfield Uni, Robert Gordon Uni etc. 2. Start prepping your POF the moment you decide on where you want to go and you know how much the tuition will be, in addition to your maintenance. Apply to school => Get offer => fulfill offer conditions => Undergo your TB test around this period => Show POF plus other required documents (TB test, BSC/educational qualifications as required) to the school for CAS issuance => Get CAS and start online application => Submit and pay for your application online, select biometrics date, and upload supporting documents via self-service => Go for your biometrics appt and use assisted service if you have documents not uploaded via self-service => await UKVI's response. DTOBS: |
No. For you to pick a biometric date, you need to submit and pay for your application online. Your POF needs to be mature (at least 28 days) before you submit and pay and pay online. Adetoyin24: |
It is outside of the normal visa process and is untrackable/untraceable. There will be a request to submit the passport for the visa vignette after which they will put the vignette in the passport and send to TLS for pick up. WatchYourSix: |
The AR process is like a black box process; the passport might just be sitting in a folder for all you know. They only need to print the vignette and paste in the passport but they might be short-staffed at the moment. WatchYourSix: |
You should be able to do it anywhere since it is just you declaring/swearing before the law that information as provided by your/on your transcript is right or wrong. meljoe: |
Yes, you can. jamykay: |
Successful overturned decision via AR is usually communicated within 2 weeks from the submission date but passport return after you submit it can take anything from 2 weeks to 3 months or more. WatchYourSix: |
1. You might, You might not. Request to prove how the money is gotten is often at the ECO's discretion; usually when it is suspected that the funds are not truly available. If this money is from your family, your savings or any other means, have the proof readily available just in case. 2. No, you don't. If you're working, it is usually just to prove/show what you do in Nigeria but if unemployed, just state that if it is requested. Collins4u1: |
What are your plans after enrolling in a foundation course? What course are you looking at? Are the funds readily available to sponsor this? Foundation degrees are usually Level 5, meaning your work hours will be around 10 hours/weekly and you can't bring your family except it is a L7 foundation program. Would this be a problem for you? pufframmy: |
No, it is not on a minimum-wage job. For a 1-year postgraduate program that starts in September, your term time will be about 10-11 months. Autumn term: September–December (3 months excluding about 3-5 weeks of holiday as most schools resume in the 1st or 2nd week of January). Spring term: January–March (3 months with about 3-5 weeks for the Easter break) Summer term: April–August (4 months mostly time spent on your dissertation. The moment you hand in your dissertation, you are free of school). The minimum wage is £9.50 for age 23 and over. If you get a minimum wage job, you will be earning £9.50*20 hours weekly = £190 £190*4 = £760 monthly £760*10 months = £7,600 If you're lucky to get work hours during the Christmas and Easter breaks, you'd be able to earn more depending on how many hours you get. The above is based on the assumption that you will get a job immediately you get to the UK but this is not always the case. NHS London jobs pay a lil more than this because of the enhancements - HCA & WTD (Band 2 new entry - £12.99 inner London & £12.63 outer London; Band 3 new entry - £14.01 inner London & £13.65 outer London; Band 4 new entry - £15.28 inner London & £14.91 outer London) but getting into the NHS can sometimes be hard. You're happy that you might be earning the above, right? Now comes the expenditure: *Accommodation: Estimated at a minimum of £400 per month (bills inclusive - Gas, electricity, water, Wifi etc) for a double room in shared accommodation. This can sometimes be higher depending on area and if you get one that doesn't include bills. *Transportation: Minimum of £184 per month - This is based on London monthly travel card costs. Might be lower depending on how close your work and school are from your accommodation. Might be higher if you go out more often or take cabs at some point. Outside London, you might be able to get discounted yearly students' tickets for around £180 to use on the local buses. Train use will increase your costs. For the purpose of this estimation, let's assume that you will be outside London and get the discounted ticket. *Phone bill: Minimum of £10 a month for unlimited data, UK calls and free calls to some EU and North American countries. For calls to Nigeria, WhatsApp and Tesco International calling app will help to keep your costs low. *Food: How do you eat? Your lifestyle will determine how much you spend. When I was in school outside London, I survived on £10 monthly for groceries (Milk, cereal, pasta etc) because I had a steady supply of cooked and uncooked food from home in London. Many people on a frugal eating plan might end up spending something around £50-100 monthly (depending on if you spend money on raw rice, beans, soup, bread etc) but this will require you to do some bulk cooking at some point to keep your feeding expenses low - the money spent on the cheapest meals eg. McDonald's wrap of £1.99 adds up to a high cost eventually. To keep costs as low as possible, Aldi, Lidl, 1 pound stores (Sam 99, Poundland etc) are great options as they have some of the cheapest prices but you have to compare items across them to find out which one is cheaper for you. I'd use lower ended £50 as the estimate here. *Body care: Body creams, soaps etc come at their own costs too. Let's estimate this at £10 monthly. The estimated total of the above with the London monthly travel card cost for trains & buses is £654 (Rent - 400, Phone bill - 10, Food - 50, Body care - 10, travel card - 184). You can opt-out of the Travel card option and use contactless which might end up costing more if you travel very frequently around the city. The estimated total of the above with the outside London is £485.333 (Rent - 400, Phone bill - 10, Food - 50, Body care - 10, Discounted student tickets - 184 yearly broken down into 12 months is 15.333 monthly although you will usually have to pay the total cost upfront ). Taking out the estimated expenditure from the estimated earnings will be as below Estimated monthly wages - £760 minus estimated monthly spend - £485.333 = Balance remaining - £274.667 Balance remaining - £274.667 * 10 months = £2,746 during term-time. Please note that the above are estimations and actual costs/wages might be higher. Now, with the above, do you think that it will be possible to raise £10k that you most likely need for your tuition balance in less than 10 months? Munamoqel: |

Then, there's no need to change it. Amarachyy: |
You can use it without changing as long as your demographic and passport details are correct. Amarachyy: |
Yes, she needs to. His US passport only allows him to be in the UK as a tourist, not as a UK resident. dammy135: |
