During the last lockdown, flights still came into the UK and BoJo's announcement today didn't touch on flights so it should hopefully be the same except Nigeria closes its airspace. Also schools are open so I don't see students being turned back at UK airports, tourists, maybe but not students. ladydelish: Will flights still be on during the lockdown if there will be any? |

1. Yes. 2. You have to demonstrate that your hubby can't be with you in the UK during your course plus show that adequate arrangements are in place for the kids in the UK. This is usually a dicey one since both parents are required to be in the UK with the kids except in extenuating circumstances. 3. You all can apply at the same time for the student/dependant visas. It's based on your preferences. 4. Depends. Some schools require the TB test before issuing CAS while some don't. Whichever way the pendulum swings, TB test are valid for 6 months except UKVI extends the validity due to Covid-19 lockdown. awumen: @mimilyrics,thanks. 1. Noted. With these, does that mean I should state, self-funding in my forms? 2. Ok,hubby is too busy,he is funding everybody, sweet family,no issues atall,he has travelled alot and still prefer his visiting visa.please advise if that won't hurt my chances 3. Even with his own choice, can we all apply at the same time? 3. Ok,I will receive CAS before going for TB test? 4 & 5. Noted.many thanks. |

1. No. You can either use your own account or your parents account(s) for your own application. Your kids will have to use your own account or your hubby's. 2. Yes, you can apply with your kids as your dependants (this is based o your preferences) but your husband should be applying with you and your kids too except you've got extenuating family circumstances. 3. Before your visa application. It's valid for 6 months. 4. USD is advisable due to the limits placed on naira accounts by most banks. 5. Follow up with your school if you hear nothing from them within their stated timeframes. awumen: @Justwise and all the gurus in the house.my questions are - can i apply using hubby's account as sponsor? if not then what are the right options. can i apply together with my kids as dependents or i apply alone first? at what point do i need to do my TB test? can naira account card pay for my application, IHS and etc or USD account is advise am applying for January 2021, resumption date, application submitted, how can i wait to hear from school before getting across to them? |

Writing IELTS depends on the school; some accept WAEC while others accept a letter certifying that your last course was fully taught in English. Check the English language requirements of the schools you're interested in to know what they require. Cheap is relative. Check schools in line with your budget using google or findamasters.com olajide0808: Pls, for undergraduate that has good waec result and willing to study in the UK, pls what's the requirement, is it compulsory to write ielts?
Also which school is more cheaper for computer science course ? Kindly help with these questions, thanks |

It's okay since you aren't related. If the decision to self-isolate there is probed further at the POE for any reason, you simply say the truth which is that the option didn't open up till after you got your visa. olenime: In his visa application, it was filled that he has no family member in UK. But along the line, he got a friend willing to accommodate for quarantine in another city different from his school city. About 1 hour apart.
Does this gives a red flag with immigration at entry port? |

1. No you can use your school address for your application but you'd need a confirmed address (for your self-isolation) to fill in your passenger locator form prior to arriving in the UK. 2. It's okay as long as you've got enough funds in your account for all 3 of you. 3. Your son is also your wife's dependant so no harm in filling his details on her form even though the funds are in your account. Chreze: Greetings. Pls I need some clarifications: I just started my visa application and
1. Is it compulsory to have a place to stay at the moment, that is stating that I will book once visa is approved is fine? Or make I just Reserve hotel for 20days and use the address for place to stay in Uk.
2. I am traveling with my wife n son, and I have all amount in my account. Am thinking of uploading same account statement for everyone since they are both my dependent. In this case I guess they both need to select personal bank statement and use my account statement.
3. I already stated traveling with wife and son as dependent also traveling with me. Is it compulsory for my wife to state our son as dependent since we are all traveling together and all amount is in my account.

1. PBS Dependant visa. Apply here https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/apply-visa-type/dependant?_ga=2.237689027.2113137218.1603961790-1159481724.15924008432. Her BRP, status letter to show that she's registered, passport. You also need your marriage certificate and if possible about 5-10 pictures to show that you have a genuine relationship. Your funds must also have been held in the manner stipulated by UKVI. 3. You must reside in the UK if you are looking at qualifying for ILR along with your spouse because any period spent outside the UK which exceeds the permitted absence period will be counted as a break in your stay in the UK. If you decide to continue living and working in Nigeria, you'll be better off applying for a standard visitor visa until you're ready to move to the UK. 4. Once your wife successfully completes her course, she can apply for the PSW and you can apply as her dependant. sagbar: Hello Everyone, My wife got her Tier 4 visa just this week and she will be going to the UK next week , Now we're planning that I should apply as a dependent probably next month so that I can join her later. My questions: (1) What type of visa will I apply for? (2) Do I need any document from her to apply as a dependent? (3) If I receive the visa, must I resident and work in the UK? What if I decided to continue with my work here in Nigeria. (4) Will I also qualify for PSW visa after her studies? US passports UK allowance is for tourism purposes. Since your child will be coming as a T4 dependant, the dependant rules will apply so yes, you'll need to show funds for the child. You're better off using your child's Nigerian passport while indicating that he/she has dual nationality on the visa application since the US passport doesn't confer an advantage in this case. quin9: Thanks but my question is still not answered, must my husband be resident and working in the UK to be a dependent? I'm not quite sure why you're having this issue as someone who just arrived from Nigeria was able to open an account with Monzo. Try the Santander Basic current account for international students, it comes with zero monthly fees, you'll get 2 cards (one for your basic account and another for online transactions; the one for online transactions isn't contactless though) but you'll need a status letter from your school in addition to your BRP and passport. You can also open the Santander essentials current account which comes with a contactless card which can be used for both online and offline transactions but that attracts a monthly fee of £1. princecase: Gurus in the house.
I recently got into the UK, I tried opening a bank account with Lloyds bank but my application was refused without any explanation whatsoever to that regard. Tried equally with Monzo, I still refused.
All of these refusals came after submitting my Passport, BRP and letter from the school indicating my address and duration of the course.
Please has anyone had this issue and how was it resolved because at the moment I am confused as to what the possible reasons for refusals could be.
I am currently trying to open with Barclays Bank, have an appointment on 30th of November.

1. No, theres no guarantee that you'll get a student job that pays enough to offset your full tuition fees. You have to factor in your living costs (food, rent, bills, transportation, etc.) and you can't work beyond 20 hours weekly except in some NHS jobs. You might be lucky to get a job which pays enough to offset your fees but it's not guaranteed. You also have to bear in mind, the deadlines for your tuition fee payment plan as this may not tally with your savings or wage payment schedule. 2. It's currently the duration of your course plus 4-6 months. You can switch to other visas in the UK as long as you're eligible. Tier 2 visas qualify you for ILR in 5 years but you need to be sponsored for this in an appropriate job category by a qualified T2 sponsor. Tier 1 visas are another option but this might be resource (money, skills etc.) intensive. 3. Yes. Students who successfully complete their degrees from next summer are eligible. 4. Average is relative. Note that as a student who earns minimum wage and below the personal income limit, you'll be paying little or almost nothing for tax. 5. There are no guaranteed scholarships apart from some international student discounts. Getting a scholarship is linked to how well you sell yourself in your scholarship application. 6. Cheapest is relative and will be dependent on your budget and course of study as some courses are naturally expensive ie. MBA. Many Nairalanders have mentioned University of Chester as being relatively affordable so you can check it out. On the average, you should expect to spend about £13-15,000 for each year of your course. Informanta: GOOD DAY all great minds here....
As a way of introduction, my name is INFORMANTA and also the thread creator of the thread DETERMINED IMMIGRANT WE MOVE https://www.nairaland.com/6174870/determined-immigrant-we-move I currently represent over 4000 persons who have one way or the other subscribed or viewed my thread, hence any response given to me by anyone here would be well appreciated by over 4000 Nigerian Determined persons who are currently at a cross road seeking, better living conditions for their families.... i would so much appreciate to read responses from the most expert persons or persons with the most recent experiences here.
Now my questions.
1. Are there available student jobs in the UK that can guarantee a student the ability to pay his remaining tuition fees while he studies? if yes please provide example of such type of jobs
2. How many years visa is stamped for students currently and is there any feasibilty of students remaining in the UK upon finishing studies in other to huzzle and possibly seek permanent residency?
3. Has the 2years PGWP been implemented?
4. Considering the high rate of tax in the UK what really is the average living condition of Nigerians in the UK?
5. Are there guaranteed scholarships available in the UK for indegent students who possibly cannot raise the tuition fees and whooping statement of account.
6. what schools in the UK has the cheapest and most flexible fees payment structure.
Thank you very much even as i anticipate reasonable responses.

Whichever one you choose depends on your ultimate goal. For another masters at same level, you'll need to prove that the new course is connected to your previous course and that the course represents your genuine career implementations (academic progression). If your school is satisfied that it represents career progression, then it will fly but if not, you might have to stick to your original course and pursue ACCA separately to enable your pursue your PhD. On the other hand, you might be better off with the ACCA option if it fast tracks your ACCA qualifications and gets you into the UK job market faster. Mma24: Goodevening guys
I finally arrived UK on 11th using BA, the journey was smooth too. I wasn't asked for Covid 19 test.
Please gurus I have a little challenge, I applied for Msc Accounting and Finance but getting here I am considering changing to Msc Professional Accounting because of 9 ACCA papers Exemptions after my Msc and with ACCA I have a higher chance of getting a job after I graduate.
The issue now is that I was advised by the school that changing to Msc Professional Accounting, I won't stand the chance of proceeding to PhD Which I also intend doing after my Masters.
I am so confused can I apply for another Msc after my Masters? Should I continue with my first Msc after which I go for the second..please advice.

umaga1991: Good day everyone.. I’m in the process of funding my account, my dad has his money in a CBN approved micro finance bank. I heard someone saying they won’t accept micro finance bank even if it was approved by CBN but you know how parents are, I had a serious argument with my dad this morning and he said bank is bank so far it is being recognized by CBN. Please can I use a micro finance bank account statement for UK student visa?? Urgent and sure response please. Thanks See quoted response below. mimilyrics: According to the UKVI, bank statements must be from banks regulated by "........in the case of overseas accounts, the home regulator (official regulatory body for the country the institution is in and where the money is held) for the purpose of personal savings accounts, confirming funds have been held for a consecutive 28-day period ending no more than 31 days before the date of the application and no later than the date of application."
The financial regulatory body in Nigeria is CBN so if a MFB is registered with CBN and regulated by them, the MFB is okay to use.
You should also find out if any one has used the statements from that bank before because it also proves that the bank can satisfactorily verify financial statements through UKVI established channels. The bank being able to verify the statement to UKVI as required and when due is key. |

1. The court marriage certificate. I know that licenced churches give 2 certificates, use the one that has the Nigerian govt logo, not the one with the church logo. Pictures and any joint bills for about two years can also be used. 2. You need their birth certificate, TB test certificate and letter of consent. Elizabeth28: Morning Guys.
I have a a few questions please. For dependents visa.
1. Apart from the bank statement what does the principal applicant husband need as documents to show. That is,would marriage Certificate be requested,if yes is it court marriage Certificate or church own will suffice.
