Yes, you can but in my opinion, you shouldn't because plantains get spoilt quickly and might get mashed in your bag while yams are pretty heavy. Plantains cost about £1 - £1.20 for 3 pieces while yams cost anything from £2-5 from African stores and street markets so you can always buy after you arrive. It's waste of already limited luggage space and it'snot like that's the only food you'll eat everyday. Nattiejt: Greetings guru in the house.... pls can one carry yam and plantain into the UK? |

You're welcome. 1. Don't be. Any document legally accepted by the Nigerian government is accepted by UKVI. 2. Whether you're going with them or not, you should mention them on your application. 3. If you've got bills in your joint names in Nigeria before she left, include them. If you don't have accommodation in both your names in Nigeria, no need to panic. Gather all documents that shows both of you as living at same address during her time in Nigeria ie. doctor's letter, driver's licence etc. 4. Pictures, bills, WhatsApp messages and/or communications after she moved, evidence of any money she's sent to you and just about anything that shows that you still have a continuing relationship. 5. She should get it earlier so that she can have bills with that address alongside the tenancy agreement. 6. No, you don't need your expired passport except it has a valid Visa or previous visa to show your travel history. oscarwilde: Thanks so much @mimilyrics
I am really grateful for your response.
1. I was very shaken about the marriage certificate because my wife is not here.
2. I am not planning to travel with my kids because of limitations in funding but I wanted to know if I'll be asked about leaving them in Nigeria and if it could cause me any problems.
3. I saw a video saying that the accommodation document should have my name. It further shows we did everything together. Kindly help confirm.
4. The thing is we have been together in Nigeria for the past 7years, she just left this February when I lost my job. We have no flight history outside Nigeria. So what will suffice as evidence of the period we've lived together over the past 2 years? Are the pictures enough?
5. She is planning to get accommodation about the same time we are starting the application. Does she need to get the place earlier? and why if so.
6. I don't have travel history even though I have an expired passport I never used.. will I be required to submit the expired passport? And will my travel history affect anything.. |

If you're asked, mention exactly where it came from. Since the money would have been sent to your account, submit just your account statement, not your uncle's or cousin's. If UKVI needs to verify if you truly got it from who you said you got it from, they will ask for you for proof of that. mrpudikin: Hello people, in the case of funds you have coming not just from your parents but also from family members like uncles or cousins. How does one put it during an interview and is adding supporting documents advisable in this case or just the bank statement should do . And what supporting can one add it is needed.

This will be a tough one to overturn though you can always try to appeal to the ECM's discretionary capabilities by conveying how this was just a honest mistake. My reasons (from an ECO point of view) for this are 1. You stated that you chose Manchester so you could be close to family when you had said that you had no family. You knew fully well that you had family in the UK and chose to stay in Manchester because of them. So who are the family members outside your sister that made you choose Manchester since you didn't mention them? This is a discrepancy difficult to overlook. 2. The suspicion that your sister is in the UK illegally is enough for the ECO to think that you are just using the student visa as a way to get to move to the UK by hook or crook. If you had included an explanation that you had a sister in the UK but that you don't know if she's still there because you lost touch many years ago, it might have helped. Except you have reasons strong enough to tackle the points listed, the admin review might not upturn the refusal. And since you weren't refused under paragraph 320, you can still make an application at a later time but please address the reasons you were refused here on subsequent applications. Sweetness24: Here is the refusal letter |

If you select that you're married, you'll be asked for your spouse's details and this is usually okay if your spouse needs to join or travel with you to the UK. You don't necessarily need to fill your spouse in as a financial dependant if they are not your financial dependant. It only becomes a problem if you don't list your spouse's details in the spouse section. ELff: Please I need to clarify something, while filling my application, I saw where they asked if I had dependant(child, aged parents, etc but no where was husband included, so i filled no). I would say no, you don't have to declare your cousins if you don't have their details or have a close relationship with them so you don't give wrong details and complicate issues. But those whose details you're sure of and with whom you have a close relationship with, yes. Last I checked, you won't be listing your siblings on your T4 application but you'll need to if and when you make a leave to remain application (an application to remain in the UK on another visa). If you will be staying at your bro-in-law's place, then you need to declare him and your cousin since you'll be including their details on your application. Tadebisi: @mimilyrics @justwise @inphoenix
Been seeing your post about declaring your siblings, for someone like me who only have cousins over there that we aren’t even close do I need to list them in my application too?
Secondly, i got an offer of accommodation at my bro in laws place to stay for the duration of my program. However, the so called bro in law is my husband’s cousin while my bro inlaws sister is also based in the Uk do I need to list both of them in my application?
Non of my siblings are abroad, am I to also list them in my application irrespective of there location?? Because this whole sibling listing thing is starting to confuse me o. Pls help me with a detail explanation. |

Sadly, as painful as this is, there's nothing you can do as this falls under refusal as a result of non-disclosure of material fact (deception and misrepresentation). I don't think that an administrative review will fix this except you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that you were not trying to game the system. If you haven't already been served with a ban, you should cool off and try applying at a much later time while specifically addressing the issues raised. If you've been served with a ban, you won't be able to apply for a UK visa till the ban period is served and any applications made after then will be subject to a higher level of scrutiny. Sweetness24: Goodday people, pls i will like the gurus on this platform to help me out on a way forward I was just refused a tier 4 visa(inclusive of my hubby and 2kids),reason being that i dint declare i have a sibling in the uk(of which i told my school during preCAS interviee that i av a sister.i dint put on d application that i hav a sister, not because i want to lie but because siblings wasnt specified under family members in the uk.so during my visa interview on tuesday i told them i will be quarantinig in manchester in an airbndb apartment(but my school is in sheffield),when askd y i said cos my sis is there and want to quarantine where i knw somone and afterward move to the accomodation i booked in sheffield,i was asked y i dint fill i av a sister told her i dint knw of which i later gav her her name and date of birth.i later got to know my sis used another name and a diff date of birth to wat i told d consular, though she left so many years ago as an illegal immigrant but she hav her papers already.i am really sad,i was truthful in all bt it has cause me a refusal, what should i do pls? |

You still don't get it. Breaks and permitted absences are different. A break in continuous leave is when you've spent longer than 180 days outside the UK because this resets your clock towards qualifying for ILR except in extenuating circumstances. Permitted absences are within the permitted absence allowance and they don't reset your ILR clock or continuous leave period so they are not breaks in your legal leave. See the attached screen for more clarification as to what qualifies as a break in legal residence in the UK. The edits on my previous comment were made to include more details before your response came in so, chill. And if this is what you term defensive, I can only just leave you to believe what makes you feel good. Any comment I put on here isn't borne out of a need to become champion, it's borne out of a need to help. I wouldn't be responding to you anymore. inphoenix: Sis, you went to edit your comment and even posted a screenshot? Lol. It's not that serious ma'am. No one is dragging champion of the UK visa advise with you here please.
It's even unnecessary cos I'm not even trying to "negate" or argue the merits or otherwise of your argument. Calm down, stop being defensive.
At the point when justwise pointed out that breaks are NOT ALTOGETHER fatal to an application for Leave, all you needed to do was say "yeah, that's correct, as long as it isn't more than 180days", but check out your response instead You get defensive because...? What you said is not even materially wrong, just a little misleading for those who truly don't know such as the person you were trying to bring up to spead on all things "Leave". Then you took the pains to do a screenshot in your attempt to interpret the guidelines to me? Nah, I'm not the one sis. Nuff said!

Clarifying now means I've taken offence? That you said no offence meant didn't mean that you should make your comment in a condescending or patronising manner. If you knew, you wouldn't have made the comment you made and stating that someone doesn't know something isn't abusive. If I don't know something, I wouldn't have issues saying that I don't know or accepting that I had made a mistake, no hard feelings. You think that calling a comment clarifying a piece of information that came from me was unnecessary and funny was okay while saying that I was defensive but me stating the obvious about you not knowing was rude? I don't need to know you before I respond to you as appropriate; wrapping up your words in honey doesn't negate the presence of vinegar in it. Even Justwise whom I responded to knows that the comment wasn't rude in any form and eventually understood what I referred to in my initial post was not the permitted absences. inphoenix: Lol. Even when I asked you not to take offense, your conclusion is this disrespectful comeback of "what I don't know"? Simply because? I reckon you're civil to people who truly do not know on this thread, and anyone with a semblance of correcting you is subject to a pointless defense or a rude retort such as this and the other one about shouting. You will NEVER say that to me in person under ANY circumstance. You don't know me (or what I know) and trust me, if you did, you'll be impressed.
That said, keep up your good work! Cheers! |

And your point is? What's being defensive in stating what obtains? I stated that a person gets ILR after spending the time required on their visa / leave without breaks in the leave; breaks in continuous residence only comes into play when an individual spends more than the permitted absence allowance. If you don't know, you can always do a quick check to confirm if the info is correct. Always read to understand please. Periods of being away from the UK which are below the acceptable thresholds are termed absences (180 days or less) while periods above the acceptable absence allowance are called breaks in your leave / visa. Even Justwise comments ( which I further clarified ) didn't negate my point, it was clarification for the person my comment was directed at not to assume that a holiday period or any period of being away from the UK on acceptable absence allowance will count as a break in leave. inphoenix: Lol. Sis, this is very funny and totally unnecessary. A break is a break - "accepted" or not - mind you, the subject of your advice is not aware of what is acceptable or not. You're really very bright and helpful here and very much appreciated, but this here is just you being unnecessarily defensive of a harmless conclusion that you only need to acknowledge and move on. Doesn't in any way tamper with your reputation as a savior on this thread.
No offense please. Just saying.

Leave (limited) to remain (LTR) is what you get when you switch from one valid visa category to another, you are usually required to be on leave to remain for 3, 5 or 10 years before qualifying for ILR depending on the route you applied through. Indefinite Leave To Remain (ILR) is what you get after legally spending 3, 5 or 10 years without a break in your leave. ILR is one step closer to getting your British Citizenship and gives you almost the same rights as a British citizen. Akomosule: Please can you talk more on leave to remain |

I guess it's because people are scared of getting refusals due to past experiences or lack of "documentation". Most agents are in it for the money and short-term, immediate income from a transaction and don't care if the info filled gets people in trouble, only very few agents actually care about an applicant getting banned. LagosismyHome: UK process is so simple , all their Visas up to ILR and citizenship everything is black and white with official guidance

Ah! Pls if you can edit, pls do because this is a very serious case of misrepresentation and deception which can land you a 10 year ban. Once you give your biometrics, UKVI can cross reference your previous application information with the current application and any inconsistent information will be termed as deception. Even if you get away with it now, if you make subsequent applications (ie. Leave To Remain), you will need to state all your family in the UK and your birth country and listing your sister then will expose the lie. Happened to someone recently and I was deeply pained about it because it was exactly a situation like this where an agent told the person that siblings don't count as immediate family.
