Yea, it's a downloadable app just like paypal, Ace, Azimo and the likes.
Once you download, it's easy to use. You input your source account and transfer to target accounts in available countries. You'll need to ensure that your NGN number is turned on so you can receive authentication codes.
OBYNOWEST12:
This transfer wire, is d App downloadable on smart phone.

Two, how can I fund my account on that transfer wire.

Are you using self service or assisted service? If self service, just upload your soft copy to the document upload portal. If assisted service, just print on an A4 paper in colour (must be clear and without defacement) and take along to your appointment.
fabulous05:
Please what type of paper should I print my transcript on. I got my transcript from my sch online and I have to go to the embassy with a printed copy.

I will try to break it down as much as I can. I hope it helps.

You can only open Monzo and Starling accounts once you're in the UK because you'll need a UK phone number and address.

Transfer wise is an app that you can use to transfer money across different countries. If you don't download a VPN app / service (VPN - Virtual Private Network - allows you to use IPs that mask your location and shows IPs from other countries making it seem like you're in a different country), the Transfer Wise app will automatically select your location as UK (for example) and you'll only be able to transfer from the UK to other countries and not the other way round because of your IP address.

Dorm account is your $£€ account in Nigeria. You can usually transfer to foreign accounts via online banking or by sending an instruction to your bank or account manager to do this. This will be subject to any restrictions that your bank has in place.

BDC is Bureau De Change aka black market sometimes. They usually take your Naira while they transfer the £ equivalent to your UK account.

But if the above still seem complicated, just carry cash on you and open an online account that you can pay your money into as soon as you arrive and sort your phone number and address. You can always open account(s) with a brick and mortar bank after you get your BRP and are settled.

Thanks mimi but I don't understand a thing.....
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 11:04pm On Sep 22, 2020
No you'll have to transfer to your UK account via
1. Transfer from your NGN dorm account by sending in this request to your account officer or online banking.

2. Via TransferWise or PayPal. You'll need to use VPN so that the detected location will be Nigeria. Your NGN line will also need to be roamed for any authentication codes sent to you. Also check Mamatukwas and Omopapa from the Living in the UK thread; I think they do ForEx based on their posts.

3. Use a BDC. Transfer Naira to the BDC in Nigeria and have £ paid into your UK account.

Laura123:
Thanks a million mimilyrics, but will this allow me use money from my naira account in the UK?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 10:55pm On Sep 22, 2020
You need to get to the UK to open it because you'll need a UK number and address for the application.

You can use transfer wise to transfer to your UK account from your NGN account but you'll have to use a VPN service to enable select Nigeria as your location if not the default location will be the UK based on your IP.
If you've got a dorm account, you should be able to do online transfers for your NGN account but this may be subject to your bank's restrictions.

You can also transfer using a Nigerian BDC. You give the person Naira while the person transfers £ to your UK account. I think Omopapa and Mamatukwas also sell Forex.
Nattiejt:
Thanks for this.... pls can one open this account while still in Nigeria or I need to get to UK first? Also how will I be able to transfer from my Nigerin account to this new one?

PLEASE DON'T SUBMIT YOUR DEPENDANT'S APPLICATION BEFORE THE COMPLETION OF THE 28-DAY COUNT. COMPLETE THE 28-DAY COUNT BEFORE SUBMISSION / PAYMENT
The date of submission /payment is the date of application used by UKVI and the funds must have spent 28 days in the account before the date of application. Doing otherwise will result in a refusal since the funds won't meet the financial requirements.

The bolded part is me literally screaming to get your attention.
Dfazz:
Hello Mimi I am the principal applicant my visa has been granted, is it okay I put in my dependent application to secure an early date for biometric while we wait for her 28days count for statement of account,
hope this will not raise the ECO eyebrows.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 5:08pm On Sep 22, 2020
Oct 7. The funds must have spent at least 28 days in your account before you submit your application and your bank statement must capture these days.
pwettyhardey:
Good morning. I want to clarify some things because I'm not so sure of the date things and my resumption is near so I don't want to take chances.
I fixed my money into the account on 8th of this month, so I'm planning of counting my 28 days from 9.
Please can anyone explain to me the best time to apply for visa ( I do see bf 31st day or something), I didn't get that part well.
PS: Im using my parents account, I'm married but my husband is coming to join me later.

I appreciate your swift response

Monzo: https://monzo.com/i/current-account
Starling: https://www.starlingbank.com/
You open your account from your phone and have your debit card delivered to your address. You can use your BRP, passport or Driver's Licence (DL) when opening. Payment into the account will be via bank transfers or the post office since they don't have brick and mortar outlets. Debit cards arrive in 2-5 working days.

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 3:56pm On Sep 22, 2020
You can but if your bank has a limit or restrictions, then those limits or restrictions will apply.
RonaldJAY:
Thanks a lot .one more question, can i carry my bank naira card, does it work in UK if i want to make any transaction?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics:
No. Freelance work counts as self-employment and this isn't allowed under the T4 rules.
yusufDeveloper:
Hi guys, I don't know whether this question has been asked before but I'll like to know if it's possible because what I saw online isn't clear to me.

Please, is it allowed to work as a freelancer/remote/online job platforms in UK. I'm currently working on two online platforms here in Nigeria but there are some platforms that reject Nigeria/find it difficult to get jobs because of being in Nigeria. So, I guess when someone reaches UK, it will be very easy to create account on those platforms and earn cool cash. For me, I'll prefer to work online because I can earn X3 or more than doing student jobs in UK. We Nigerians have been rejected on different occasions and it's all because of our location such as Amazon affiliate, stripe, upwork (currently you can't create an account if your location is Nigeria) etc. Please, if we're not allowed to work online, when will we be allowed? After study or during holiday? If we do, how would they know? Does that mean they track everything we do online.

PS: I'm not trying to bypass any system that's why I'm asking.

Below is also the screenshot of the problem we Nigerians are facing.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 3:36pm On Sep 22, 2020
You'll be asked few questions. Nothing serious. It will be around your purpose of entering the UK. Have your passport, BRP letter, finance document and TB test certificate. You might not need to show all the documents I mentioned but that's dependent on the person that attends to you.

No need for PTA / BTA. Having some money on your card or physically will help you get around and pay for things easily though.
RonaldJAY:
To those that has already traveled.did they ask further questions at the port of entry upon arrival at UK?

It is necessarily compulsory to have your BTA/PTA while traveling?BTA means basic travel allowance or PERSONAL TRAVEL ALLOWANCE.

Then you need to be well prepared. Also be ready to explain what you've been up to since your BSc and why you think now is a good time to get a Master's degree and the advantage your degree will give you professionally.
Read up all the variety of questions that have been posted on the thread to give you an idea of the kind of questions to expect. Also note that some questions will be based on your answer to a previous question. Don't divulge any unnecessary details that can work against you. Be concise in your answers. If you feel like you didn't hear a question properly, ask the interviewer to repeat him/herself. You can also check with the interviewer to ensure that what you say is what's heard.

Only include it if it helps your application. If it doesn't help your application, don't include it so you don't complicate what should normally be a simple process.

Normally, the call will be to clarify information that the ECO is unclear about and expect the questions to come from any and every angle possible. Just be calm and answer the questions without contradicting any information contained on your application or divulged in your previous interview if you had any.
uchevolata:
Hello. I received an email now, and scheduled for an interview tomorrow morning. The email also reads from Pretoria (Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward)
Please what does that message mean? Should I be worried? P.S this was a priority service 17th Sep. Ikeja

Looking forward to any input and advises on what to expect from the interview. @justwise, @mimilyrics @skymoore

Thank you

It's not compulsory for UK. A friend who used British Airways on Saturday didn't present any Covid-19 test and had no issues. I've got someone else coming to the UK this weekend on Virgin Atlantic and the airline isn't asking for it.
You need to fill and submit the form below 48 hours before your arrival in the UK

Good morning all. Please those that travel to the UK recently, is covid 19 test compulsory to be done from Nigeria or is it required by the Nigeria immigration before boarding? Thanks.

You can book another airline ticket while you pursue a refund. The money will be refunded to your card if you paid with your card.

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by mimilyrics: 10:39pm On Sep 20, 2020
Incorrect. A friend just arrived the UK yesterday and not having a Covid-19 test result wasn't an issue.
Brightingsus:
Hello all. I have someone due to travel from Lagos to London soon and info reaching us says you must have Covid-19 negative test cert even before going through the entrance gate at the MMA Lagos. Is this true? Who has travelled recently? I am aware this is airline specific, but are you asked for it at the gate?

Results are usually released within 48 hours and valid for about 72 - 96 hours after testing (confirm with the airline).
You don't need it for the UK except you're stopping over in a country that requires it.

If one plans to fly on say Friday, what is best day to do Covid-19 test
TravelRe: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by mimilyrics:
Not a massive issue but you can state this on your cover letter since presence and absence information are usually essential in the long term.
Miele:
Hi guys,

I applied for my visa recently and I was going through my application form and found out I made a mistake.

The form asked if I had left the UK recently and I said yes October 2019 to Nigeria. But my partner and I recently went away to Gibraltar in August 2020 and I forgot to include that.

Will this be a massive issue? Should I write up another cover letter and explain that it was a mistake? I haven’t had my biometrics yet so I can still upload additional documents.

In line with what Oloshi83 said, the decision to accept or reject is dependent on the schools involved and not a one size fits all situation. That you've had refusals for other countries doesn't mean that you will be refused a UK admission / visa.
Some schools would rather not sponsor anyone with previous refusals because they simply rank the student on balance of probabilities and see no way why the refusals won't impact the student's ability to get a UK visa.
Some schools will accept you and ensure that they ask for every information and document included with your application and arrange mock visa interviews and document checks to prevent a situation where previous refusals will negatively colour your T4 application.

Some schools will accept you and have you fill an immigration check form and submitting your financial documents (which is usually the main reason most prospective students get refused for) before processing your CAS.

You can try Uni Kent, Huddersfield, Anglia Ruskin University. Will update once I remember any others that have successfully sponsored individuals with previous refusals.
PS: make sure you declare the refusals + reasons on your visa application to avoid been refused on misrepresentation / deception grounds.

Hello my good people, please how can I find my way to TLS office at ikeja. Coming from Ibadan in a public Bus.
See quote post below.
mimilyrics:
Are you driving or using public transport?
If you're driving, once you get into Lagos, go past Berger (the very 1st bus stop after the long bridge once you cross from Ogun state to Lagos state) towards Motorways and take the turn that leads to Ojota once you drive past motorways. Drive straight on till you get to Maryland and turn right by the roundabout into Mobolaji Bank Anthony (once you turn, you will see a mobil filling station and Mr Biggs to your right) . Keep to the right and drive straight till after the church by Abule Onigbabo bus stop. TLS is the tall, white building very close to Bola memorial church.

With public transport, board a bus that can get you to Ojota/Maryland or Berger from Ibadan. If you stop at Berger, get on a bus to Ojota/Maryland. Alight at Maryland, turn to the right of the roundabout and board a bus, bike or Keke by the Mobil filling station / Mr Biggs. Tell the driver exactly where you're going (abule Onigbabo bus stop, Etiebet's place or TLS by Bola Memorial church).

Landmarks: Bola Memorial church and Eko hospital. Coming from Maryland, TLS is after Bola Memorial church and before Eko hospital.

Hi,
The exchange rate on the date of your application (the day you submit and pay your IHS/application fee) is what will be used. Your 28-day count also has to be complete before (not after even if you print your statement after your submission) you submit your online application.
Akomosule:
Good morning
Please i will like to know if it's the exchange rate for the day that I submitted my application online that will be used to calculate the money in my account or the exchange rate for the day I'm going to do biometrics?

Please help
