Farki:I just envy how efficient they are- imagine the Prime Minister being driven in a motorcade of about 8 vehicles, and that includes the cop cars and motorcycles. She drives along with traffic, not closing down the whole road. Heck, you would think the Nigerian President is an LGA Chairman if you see him being driven around in the UK. They see what obtains in saner climes but still chose to rule with tyranny, living like gods above the masses. |
Whoever hasn't understood till now should get this-- the police and military are for the protection of the rich and powerful, the poor man is left to his fate. |
Better to remain quiet and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubts. This is such shameful journalism, I wouldn't be surprised if this dimwitted halfwit has never been near any of the protests so far. Of a truth, I couldn't care less about the #endsars protests - I've never been accosted or molested by the police. But after reading about the extrajudicial murders of inumerous citizens and the injustice that has been perpetrated by the police I was numb for a very long time - I lost the ability to do anything. It became personal, it could just as well have been me or any of my loved ones. I now understood what these people felt and their reasons for protesting. The government can't just appease with empty promises. Until there are indictments and all the people complicit in these crimes are brought to book, I don't think there'll be peace. For those that go to the protests for frivolities- how is that the people's problem? The people have a genuine cause and I don't think it can be tainted by mere perceptions. The earlier the demands are honestly met the sooner you get the parties of the street. |
There is so much evil and darkness over this nation |
This is quite monumental, recalling that they were YC first Nigerian Startup. It's a plus for Nigerian Startups. |
byinks:What will I do? I'm in my house But in all seriousness, they have to handle it carefully- just like the proverbial fly on the scrutom. They don't have the military might to fight two battles at a time and most states are under-policed. I don't think Nigeria can handle instability in the SS, SW and SE right now. |
FG don enter trap. Someone said how there's no winning position for the government in this SARS protest. The people have realized their power, it now remains for FG to handle the situation with tact. |
fatboyebele:From his post, I take that he placed a single trade at 0.3. That was the only day JAPAUL traded at it's 53 wk high. He would have had to liquidate a position of over 10 million units to make his phantom profit of 1 million. The volume isn't there to back his claim. |
fatboyebele:I stand to be corrected. The day in question was 5th June, 2020. From historical data on the NSE, volume of trades made was around 6.6 million. In order for a profit of 1 million to be possible he would have had to trading more than 6.6 million. Other days it wasn't that high. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

This just shows how messed up our psyche is. In other climes an average working class citizen can get a brand new car (anywhere between $25000 to $40000) if they have good credit. Heck, this was even obtainable in the 70s and 80s where graduates newly employed were provided with BRAND NEW vehicles. A vehicle is a utility not a luxury, most vehicles on Nigerian roads are even imported salvage vehicles. How does someone even think like this, how does someone else's vehicle or possession make you feel inferior? |
MoneyMakingOppo:Learn how to lie. You couldn't have made that much profit. You'd have had to be trading the whole volume of that stock for at least 2 days when it was at it's highest. I can bet my nuts that you didn't even make close to a fraction of 10,000. |
They both reek of corruption. A former employee stole such huge amounts and you kept it under wraps, how is your company still surviving? Fishy how Tinubu is the one being defended not the allegations leveled against the company - it's either he's the owner of the company or he is mute. |
Atk1nson:I see it for the ruse that it is. There are better ways to do what the company does - heck, the IRS could create a department and train staff to do what ABC does. At most they will be paying licensing fees for software or even create it in-house. It all boils down to greed, they find loop-holes in the law that allow for such behavior and exploit it. I do not support this, but they usually get away with it. |
Atk1nson:Charging 10% is not the issue - they are clearly providing a service and with results (I don't know how true their figures are but that's an increase of 3,000% in revenue). The problem is that it's illegal. By law, no person other than the relevant tax authority is allowed to assess or collect taxes or levies. (Taxes and Levies act - Decree 21 of 1998). One would then wonder what the IRS in the state is doing. As for your retort on benchmark of such services, I would like you to know that some states pay between 10 - 50% I doubt that there is a benchmark for non-essential services in capitalist society - market and greed sets those. |
cana882:Read properly. He never stated that he needed capital. Tinubu realized the potential of the company and decided that he must have a share in it. Overall, that the company charges 10% on IGR collected is not the problem. What is morally questionable is that he [Tinubu] used his position to enrich himself and his cronies and from what is stated it seems that the company became a front for him to carry out alledged corrupt practices. I see this blowing up. All it takes is for some forensic auditing on their books and accounts. When you follow the paper trail, you'll be more surprised. |
The monumental corruption going on in plain sight is nauseating. Why this is coming out now after so many years is best left to the imagination. But one thing is sure, there is more to this scandal than meets the eye. Politics really make strange bedfellows. |
Baffling, utterly and truly baffling. |
armadeo:I tell you. I just wonder the thought process. I mostly blame Nollywood for propagating these beliefs. |
From this thread I've realized how dimwitted Nigerians are, how do people think like this? |
Kobicove:Wow. Clue us in in on the facts surrounding the cause of death Mr Sherlock Holmes. |
New money coming in. |
How possible is it to get replacement parts for the Opel Frontera (3.2 V6). I read that the cars where produce by Isuzu and badged by Honda (Passport) and Vauxhall (Frontera) for their various markets. I plan on replacing a radiator and some other parts, please any suggestions as to alternative vehicles I can source parts from. It seems the Frontera doesn't share it's anatomy with other Opel models. Thanks |
