PoliticsRe: The $50,000 Bribe Saga: Did Jonathan Try To Bribe SNG? by Mkpotu(m): 2:01pm On Nov 30, 2010
For people crying why on earth would Jonathan bribe SNG, it means they are quick in forgetting what this group of people can do. At least to the best of our knowledge and it is still fresh in our minds the role SNG played for Jonathan to be able to ascend as the Acting President during the Yaradua illness saga.

The group comprised of eminent personalities spoke against the ills/manipulations then, went to National Assembly, staged meaningful/violent free protest, which later saw the National Assembly adopt the Doctrine of Necessity to empower Jonathan to take over. Then it was as if it was a South thing because they fought against the so-called political manipulations of the Northerners. Therefore, I firmly believe that what they are saying now is the truth, not because it is the other way round(i.e, against Jonathan), some people are now screaming foul play.

The essence of the $50,000 may be for petrol but the motive is for the Group to turn their eyes away from the evils of this administration and shut up without criticizing them. More or less, it is called INDUCEMENT!!!
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Takes Us Back To The Importation Regime by Mkpotu(m): 10:39am On Nov 30, 2010
To me, this is a move in the right direction. With the so-called prohibition those things were coming and the custom people were making lots of money for their personal pockets (not for Government) and when you are not able to pay the millions they charged you, your goods will be confiscated.

As per cars of 15years, it is equally a good moves this is because as we are talking today the government of Benin Republic are the people benefiting from the prohibition. They make a lot of money from Nigerians who use their port to import those cars and yet the cars still come into Nigeria through the assistance of customs. Nigerians pay as much as 500,000 Cefas to clear a car from Cotonou port and pay our customs at borders as much as N20,000 to N30,000 to bring in those cars into Nigeria. People always buy cars '96/'98 models, with the ban, should such cars still be brought into Nigeria, yet they are brought in not even smuggled whilst the revenue go to Benin Republic govt & private pockets of customs, then Nigeria where the cars are used do not make anything, so who is fooling who?

Obasanjo goofed in that his policy but with the lifting of the ban by Jonathan, it will contribute towards our revenue increase!
PoliticsRe: Atiku "Selected" As Northern Consensus Candidate by Mkpotu(m): 1:19pm On Nov 23, 2010
A lot of people here neglect the potentials of Atiku and how grounded he could be as far politics and politicking is concerned. Atiku as Vice President was enjoying the support of almost 25governors then but decided not to contest presidency in 2003 because of zoning in order to allow Obasanjo, his boss complete his 8years tenure.

If Atiku were'nt powerful, OBJ that I know would have rubbished him but he could not. He would have impeached & tried him after he leveled allegations of disloyalty against Atiku, he used every means possible to frustrate Atiku even to the extent of using Iwu to disenfranchise Atiku but Atiku despite all odds still contested but in another political party, though he didn't win.

Let us not forget the role Atiku played to ensure that the greedy Obasanjo did not perpetrate himself in power against democratic tenets and our constitutional provision.

Obj using his power of incumbency was somehow able to successfully fight Atiku not to achieve his dreams then because  Atiku thwarted his 3rd term agenda and the fact that Obj too was not contesting the same election (2007), but this cannot be said of Jonathan who is a candidate in the same election so whatever power of incumbency that Jonathan will want to illegally wield against Atiku will automatically be shouted on by democrats.

Note, if both men are to be placed on the same pedestal removing power of incumbency, Atiku will always flaw Jonathan, but lets see as the game unfolds, it is very interesting!!!

I have always been an advocate of zoning because we (Southerners) were the people that agitated for it because we were being marginalized by the Northerners especially as Nigerian democracy is still very young and certain interests have to be considered in order to contain various groups pending the time the democracy gets matured. I expected Southerners to solidify zoning and place a projection to it, which will be agreed by all and sundry.

Some people are of the view that the best candidate should rule no matter where he comes from and the golden question is,

WHO IS THE BEST CANDIDATE?

HOW DO WE KNOW HIM?

IS IT FROM AMONGST THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE RESOURCES TO BUY THEIR PARTY FORM THAT U GET NIGERIAN BEST CANDIDATE?

IS IT ANYBODY THAT HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE IN POWER AT THAT TIME IS DEEMED THE BEST CANDIDATE?

IF ZONING DIES, AND THE NORTHERNERS THROUGH ANY MEANS GETS THIS POWER AND DECIDES TO RECYCLE IT AMONGST THEMSELVES THE WAY THEY DID UNDER MILITARY, WILL ANYBODY BE HEARD TO COMPLAIN?

May be what may have made GEJ probably the best candidate in the opinion of some people is of course because his boss died and typical of Nigerian politicians, the government in power is the best/rightful candidate.

PoliticsRe: Ekwueme Rejected Senate President Position In 1999 -obasanjo by Mkpotu(m): 5:24pm On Oct 29, 2010
Let truth be told, it is rare to see somebody after that exalted position going back to accept a lower one. Yes, there can be money in being Senate President instead of being an elder statesman but mind you everything is not all about money. I think he earned his respect by not accepting it and the Ekwueme I know never worked against Obasanjo, he steadfast and was in PDP despite all odds.

But my annoyance with Bluetooth, is why he should now turn round to call such a respected person a frustrated person!!! A lot of people decamped from PDP because of Obasanjo's high handedness but Ekwueme was steadfast and yet you have the effrontery to curse him. What is the curse and insult for? That he should have got angry and after he couldn't get PDP presidential ticket and decamp to AC, the way Atiku and others did.

Abeg, Bluetooth, if u no get point sometimes, just keep calm. You must not comment in all topics.!!!!

Have a gr8 weekend.

@Bluetooth, I really wonder if sometimes your brain do touch or you are one retarded and frustrated old man such that you open your mouth like someone that has disease of the mouth.

Someone was a former vice President (N0.2 citizen) which he occupied diligently and he was later called upon to take No. 3 citizen after 20years and he declined and you are calling him a frustrated person? At Jos PDP National Convention, was Ekwueme's ambition to become Senate Predident? Simple NO. I know it is still people like you that will raise campaign that this man is not honourable if he had settled for a lower position, to wit: Senate President.

I can see you are retarded? Anyway this shows how myopic minded you are, may be that was why in your state, somebody after serving as Deputy Governor for 8years, later descended to be become a Commissioner in another government.

People are meant to be progressive.

Go and tell Atiku to come and become Senate President or Obasanjo to become Vice President to Goodluck or Babangida or whoever that wins next year.

Myopic Idiot!!!

PoliticsRe: The Brain Box Of Nigeria: Anambra Or Ekiti? by Mkpotu(m): 5:22pm On Oct 19, 2010
Apart from the fact that Anambra State was created in 1991, while Ekiti State was created in 1996, there is no room for comparison both in terms of year of creation as well as revenue generation, capital, infrastructure wise, human resources etc. Anambra State can boast of three (3) distinct cities, Awka, Onitsha & Nnewi which their development have touched all the surrounding towns thereby ensuring what you can call an even development across the state.

Ekiti should be compared with her likes; Jigawa, Ebonyi, Kebbi, Zamfara etc. (anyway, except for very old states like Kwara State that you can still compare with states like Ekiti)

Apart from Lagos which all of us acknowledge is the most developed in Nigeria & West Africa, it is only Ogun State that should be coming after Anambra State basically because of her proximity to Lagos & the development in Lagos is gradually merging into Ogun State, apart from that, no other South Western state should be compared with Anambra State.
PoliticsRe: Anambra Is The Brain Box Of Nigeria-jonathan by Mkpotu(m): 12:29pm On Oct 18, 2010
The fact is simple, different people and different states have what you can use to best qualify them.

For those voices chanting foul because President Goodluck has described ANAMBRA STATE AS THE BRAIN BOX OF NIGERIA, those people are doing so out of jealousy and wickedness and they will continue to be disappointed. They can best be described as enemies of progress, may be they would have expected a bomb blast in Anambra State during Presidents visit or any negative thing, in that case I know they would have been happier.

Any person that knows Nigeria, Anambra State and her indigenes, knows that what President Goodluck is saying is nothing but the truth and I make bold to say it that some of you lame minds who sit at the back of their PC talking rubbish do not have a better knowledge of the various parts of the country than the President. At least for the benefit of doubt, being the president of Nigeria gives him at least 70% of the 36 states of the Federation let alone states like Anambra with its economic/human/ intellectual endowment.

Goodluck has never said Anambra is the most developed (like Lagos, PH, Kano,Kaduna, Enugu)- No !, He has never said Anambra is the most peaceful (Like Cross River, Taraba, Niger)- No !, He never said Anambra is the richest (like Lagos, Kano, Rivers, Delta, etc) No !, He never said Anambra is the tourist centre of Nigeria (like Cross River, Plateau, Taraba, Kano, Enugu, Lagos, Edo) rather he rightly pointed out that Anambra is the Brain Box of Nigeria and the reasons are simple and I make bold to state them:
(1) Anambra state carved out from the Old Anambra which had Enugu as its capital was created in 1991 with Awka as her capital, is a state blessed with great Human Resources, men of great intellectuals both in academic field, entrepreneurial, politically, religious and otherwise.

(2) Anambra state has two major commercial towns to wit: Onitsha and Nnewi. While Nnewi is known for her automobile/parts manufacturing as well as motorcycle manufacturing, Onitsha is a pure commercial city which has several big markets and infact the Main market in Onitsha, a standard market which had in the past years adjudged as the biggest market in West Africa.

(3) I make bold to say it that today, any part of Nigeria (like Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Abuja, etc and neighboring counties like Ghana, Benin, Anambrarians and infact Igbos, having taking those commercial initiatives of what we have at Nnewi to all these places and infact these went further to support Presidents Goodluck assertion during his visit in Lagos, where he observed without hiding his feelings the immense contribution of the Igbos in the commercial nature/city of Lagos today.

(4) It is important to state that another reason why President Goodluck have made his observation which we do not owe anybody apology is that Anambra people have held influential positions in the country and during such period they have distinguished themselves in doing their assignment without any bias or sectional interest, eg Great Zik of Afrika, a pure nationalist. Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Prof. Dora Akunyili, etc

Once more I salute the economic sagacity of these notable industrialists in Anambra like Dr. Innocent Chukwuma of Innoson Group of Companies & Dr. Ifeanyi Eric Okoye of Juhel Nig ltd, Cosmas Maduka of Coscharis ltd etc, their effort so far in the Think Home Philosophy is a step in the right direction.

I believe with the support of the Govt at both Federal and State, as well as better understanding between the WELL READ and the BUSINESS MOGULS in Anambra State coming together to harness ideas and resources, Anambra will be a more enviable state.

Ndibeanyi, ekene mu unu!!!

This is democracy for God's sake, Jonathan should allow people to exercise their freedom (Ohakim alone doesn't have that kind of liver). The fact that he perceived these respectable men as not backing should not make him indulge in this ruthless and dastard act. Everybody cannot be singing one chorus for this democracy to thrive, people must have different views and such different views must be respected and considered.

PoliticsRe: Babangida Picks Odili As Running Mate by Mkpotu(m): 3:18pm On Sep 14, 2010
@BLUETOOTH, u and this your bias for Igbo in all your posts, u better keep your mind open and discuss issues as they come. I do appreciate your contributions in some topics but for your every minute bias for Igbo, I totally disagree with you. So stop being mischievous and unnecessarily annoying. There is no nobody that doesn't know that we have Yorubas are not only in the West but you can equally see them in the North like Kwara and Kogi, the likes of Olusola /Bukola Sarakis(Kwara, North Central), Smart Adeyemi (Senator Kogi, north central)etc. One of the reasons why Bukola Saraki is contesting is because he believes being a muslim from the North, the Northerners will vote for him and being a Yoruba person, by the time he runs back to his brothers in South West, they will vote for him. So this is politics, I suppose you hide your naivety except as usual, you continue to be mischievous.

Back to topic,

IBB and Odili, I don't think that is a good one, but if actually it is true, then IBB's maradona tendencies may not all that favor him this time around. IBB picking Odili is basically to split Jonathan's vote in the South South and South East, this is because, Odili being a former Governor of Rivers (Niger Delta) he can split Jonathan's vote in South South, then by virtue of his tribe/ethnicity; being Igbo, he will use it to get more votes from the South East. But the problem is that Odili did not do much as the Governor of Rivers and IBB himself has a lot on his neck.

Anyway, the game is still on, we are watching,
CelebritiesRe: Chei! Our Ibo Brother Costars Angelina Jolie In "salt" by Mkpotu(m): 4:42pm On Sep 02, 2010
The sooner we start appreciating ourselves in this country the better. Many Yoruba folks are crying up and down because the person is an Igbo guy and it has to do with celebration and something everybody has to be proud of.

The other day, the post was on President Goodluck to commission the INNOSON's motor manufacturing/assembling company, instead of celebrating the achievement and the initiative of the Sir Chukwuma, the CEO of INNOSON, some folks here were making nasty comments that it is Aba made and of course we know the people such things are coming from.

If it were to be that an Igbo person was caught in kidnapping. robbery or advance fee fraud, You will immediately see Yorubas posting the thread for discussion and immediately they will not fail to address the person's root and why Igbos are known for that. When Dora and Soludo were fighting with the press, the same folks were rather making useless comments that such things can only happen in Igboland instead of discussing the main issue, they were busy attacking Igbo as a tribe. These are just few intances.

The advice is simple, leave us to celebrate our achievements when we make them, you can join us to celebrate if you like but not castigating us or looking for a way to twist it into mockery.

To me Igbos are really trying and if you guys think Nigeria is one, Igbos should be encouraged all the more. A tribe that lost majority of her population during the civil war, 40years ago is back with some of these achievements such that there is no sector/career in this country and the world at large that you will not see IGBOs making waves. It is a thing to be happy and appreciated.

I think this is a very good moves. If govt should be supporting these industrialists, Nigeria would have been competing with major countries like Japan, China etc in terms of manufacturing.

Nnewi as a town and the industrialists there should be encouraged because they have a lot of things to offer ranging from numerous job creation, reducing over dependence on foreign manufactured/assembled vehicles/machines.

Kudos to INNOSON and the likes of Coscharis!!!

Kudos to Nnewi and Anambra State(The Japan of Nigeria as the town is fondly called)!!!

Besides, what makes it an abomination for Dora to set up Canopy/tent to receive her guests, am hearing it for the first time that it is an abomination. Had it been they were in good perfect terms, it will not be an abomination any longer.

If Dora didn't call, why didn't any of you (nieces and nephews) call her to let her know of her sister's condition?

Why did you people decide to hide it from her so that you will have opportunity to say she doesn't care about your mother's condition?

In fact, this medium you have used to write your aunt is the most callous and barbaric means I have ever seen because from your write up, you do not intend the problem to be settled rather you are escalating it.

Dora has not joined your mum, nor the nephews and nieces into the issue, the first day she made a press conference, she only made reference to Soludo (a politician) and you have carried yourself into public limelight by this letter may be on the instruction of your in-law, Soludo.

PoliticsRe: Atiku May End Up Being Our Next President by Mkpotu(m): 1:17pm On Jul 28, 2010
Hahaha, Atiku!!!

Instead of Atiku & IBB, i think Jonathan's VP (Namadi Sambo) will be the best bet and I know he will definitely observe the tenets of zoning. People like Atiku & IBB, if given the opportunity, they will wreck the country and will even want to go for another 8years.

I believe in zoning anyway, because I believe it will give various parts of the country, the opportunity to have a shot at the presidency. If the southerners jettison zoning, I hope they will not complain in the near future because they were the people that were clamoring for power shift which brought about zoning.

The northerners are more organized and formidable. The meeting they had yesterday was a testimony. Despite the fact that we have the so-called North East, North West and North Central, they have a stronger union called The Northern Governor's forum of 19 states including Abuja = 20, But in the South, such a thing will not happen as there is disunity, distrust, discord etc. It was all the tactics the Northerners political class used in the past when they had all the powers, they used every means possible to put seed of discord amongst Southerners that is why we have South West, South East and South South, all claiming supremacy and a different entity, thus cannot speak with one voice.

To further buttress how united the Northerners can be, is this issue of the so-called PDP zoning which ordinarily should be just a PDP affair was brought and tabled before all Northern governors despite party affiliation and they all voted despite the fact that they (non-PDP governors like Shakarau) were initially claiming that such things should not be discussed in the Northern Governors forum.

The day the South South Governors did theirs, Oshimole who is not a PDP member did not attend, may be because he is already scheming for something else, that is an average southerner for you.

I couldn't remember if South Western Governors have ever sat or if something like that (South Western Governors Forum) really exists, this is because everyone has his or her own agenda.

Then the South Eastern Governors until recently started speaking with one voice when the issue of kidnapping befell on them and it was causing uproar in the country, thus they started uniting to speak with one voice on that and on other issues affecting the zone politically and otherwise.

My advice is simple, the day Southerners will appreciate themselves and unite in order to speak with one voice, things will be better off.

That some Northerners are even calling for Jonathan to contest is basically because of certain marginalization they must have suffered on certain grounds like Religion, where a core North Muslim does not believe their brothers who are Northern Christians could have a shot at any political position, in fact they usually see them a minorities. This I believe caused the reason why most people in the North supporting Goodluck are Solomon Lar, Jerry Gana, Barnabas Gemade, Joshua Jang of Pateau, Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna, Gabriel Suswam of Benue State etc.

However in the South, the situation is not the same as both Southern Muslims and Southern Christians see themselves as equal, but i think the South's  major problem is that of division /seed of discord which has been sown into Southerners and that is why Yorubas do not like Igbos and vice versa, South South do not like Yorubas and Igbos and vice versa, this has therefore affected how the Southerners can comfortably stand and speak with one voice on any national issue to their benefit.

@Romeo4real, you are busy looking for people that their views have not been clinically proved. I think it is better you first of all proffer an advice to somebody that needs it then you can now criticize somebody you claim his/her view has not been clinically proved.

@Poster, my advice on hypertension is that it is a sickness that can be managed, this you can do by the following;

(1) Check your blood pressure consistently.
(2) Monitor what you eat, eat fruits, vegetables, less fatty food, reduce salt intake.
(3) Exercise is very key.
(4) Sleep well and avoid stress
(5) Alcohol and caffeine intake should be reduced or avoided.
(6) Always be happy
(7) Eat less and if on the fat side, reduce your weight.
(cool Meditate and equally pray well.

I think this and what others have said will definitely assist.
PoliticsRe: Onovo Snaps Over Questions About His Award ! by Mkpotu(m): 1:03pm On Jul 23, 2010
Onovo is a force man not a politician and therefore should not be expected to twist words or lie in the name of being friendly with journalists.

Journalists can be annoying sometimes and can ask provoking questions. Obasanjo even as civilian President has severally replied journalists in worse replies than this, because he knows sometimes they can ask you questions in order to get you infuriated.

Come to think of it, Is it Onovo that is the cause of the crime? Ever since, i was a kid, what the society (the world at large)has been battling with is how to curb various crime, there has not been any society that has completely rid itself of crimes. Before Onovo entered, we have been battling with this kidnapping thing in the Niger Delta, people dared coming back home, the Jos crisis and other religious crisis has always been there, bank robbery has always been there, so I believe this is a phase and Nigerian govt will always do her best to curb the various crimes. I believe Onovo is doing his best to curtail the kidnapping thing and reduce the crime in Nigeria.

Christianity EtcRe: Nigerian Pastor's N28bn Assets Frozen By Uk Court by Mkpotu(m): 1:39pm On Jul 19, 2010
I don't think it is proper dragging Pastor E.O Adeboye into this Erastus' scandal. Adeboye, I know will never for once ask Erastus to go and steal money from his bank and bring to the church.

The fact that Erastus worships in RCCG and at the same time a pastor does not make Adeboye liable/responsible for any purported acts done by Erastus in his secular life.

For God's sake, if not for whatever that must have happened recently in the banking industry, you and I know that ordinary bankers live affluent life, let alone a distinguished banker of over 20years standing and an M.D of one of the then fastest growing banks. Erastus while as M.D of a bank, even if he buys house and gives to Adeboye, ordinarily nobody will question that because people believe that he is equal to the task but the situation would have been different if a young man that just secured job in a bank or any firm comes the next day to say he bought a house worth so so million either for himself or for his pastor, that type ordinarily requires probe into the source of his wealth.

Let me now ask, What do you expect Adeboye to do especially when there has not been any information/allegations to him against Erastus, is it for him to be checking the account balances of all members of RCCG or to be checking their investments in order to know when they are stealing money in their offices? Please, if we want to condemn an act that is wrong, we should do it and not bringing in sentiments and dragging in persons that are not supposed to be dragged into a particular issue. Is it because Adeboye is a Nigerian, should we hold the Head of the Catholics, Anglicans, Juddaism, Islam or any other congregation responsible for the sins of their members.

Enough of these haters of men of God, I am not holding brief for anybody but when we criticize, we do that constructively and not out of sentiment.
Nairaland GeneralCbn To Rescued Banks: Owners Will Now Decide by Mkpotu(op): 10:53am On Jul 16, 2010
SHAREHOLDERS of the eight rescued banks were yesterday assured by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) that the final decision on the recapitalisation of the banks rests with them.

Speaking at a stakeholders meeting with the boards of directors, management and shareholders of the banks, the apex bank Governor, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, assured them that having secured the depositors’ funds with the reform and other measures instituted within the last few months, the focus now is to salvage some values for the shareholders.

Sanusi noted that liquidation and nationalisation are not desired options, adding that he was convinced that fresh injection of capital through strategic partnership remains the best approach to quickly get the banks to safe haven.

The CBN boss allayed the fears of stakeholders, making it very clear that the CBN would not sell the banks as it is not the business of the apex bank to do that.

The CBN, according to him, only recommended some reputable financial advisers, who are working with the board and management of these banks to source and negotiate with any of such investors that can create some value for the affected banks.

He emphasised that the process of repackaging the banks is being driven by the boards of the affected banks, some of which have held discussions with the strategic partners without direct involvement of the CBN.

The stakeholders commended the CBN for reaching out to the shareholders and urged that the two options of liquidation and nationalisation should not be considered by the CBN.
