hatchy: Azikiwe,Awolowo and all those who agitated for Nigeria's early independent didn't do well. This country was not ripe for independent as at when we got it.The white man should have colonized this country at least till late 80's.There was fewer or no basic infrastructure on ground for the country to take off. The colonialist also left in a hurry leaving a big vacuum that brought us to this disgraceful level. Countries like South Africa,Zimbabwe,Kenya, where the whites remained and fussed into and became citizens are far ahead of us in terms of development even though they have little resources compared to us.
We allowed corruption, nepotism and religious bigotry to eat deep.into our national life. How can one explain that after over 50 years of independence we are still struggling to generate and distribute just a little above 2000 mW of electricity while other countries we gained independence before them are already harnessing other forms of energy including wind and nuclear. Electricity is celebrated in Nigeria if you have it consistently for one week without blinking.
Its a shame. You don't know South Africa if you think it has fewer resources. And how does one claim that Zimbabwe is in better shape when they don't even have a currency? The countries that you listed had infrastructure built for a small number of people - there's prosperity in South Africa but also grinding poverty for the black majority (and an increasing number of whites). Kenya is home to Africa's largest slum and regular election violence. The other difference between those places and Nigeria is that of population, especially population growth. Nigerians are in denial about the problem that the rapid population growth has caused - how does one expect progress when the number of Nigerians has doubled in 25 years? And why do so many people kick against the introduction of birth control and limits on the number of children? The politicians can keep playing Nigerians because of the desperation of so many that is fueled by the irresponsible breeding. Same goes for the useless religious and traditional leaders, none of whom do anything to justify the adulation that they receive. As to your claim that Nigeria was given independence too soon - that is true for the north. The south was ready. The South West had made strides that other places had not in the 1950s - they had their own television station before most of the world, free universal education before most of the world and Lagos was a safe, bustling city. But because of the rapid population growth Lagos has been put under considerable strain and the other states, especially those int he middle belt and the north are not doing enough to improve economic indices. |

Enyimbamercedes: So therefore that's the justification for enforcing speed limiters. Let's take care of the 40% first which includes bad roads, unlicensed drivers, poorly maintained vehicles, dangote trucks, fuel tankers, insufficient road marshals on the highways, illegal roadblocks. Tackle these before you enforce speed limiting devices. Unlicensed drivers alone is probably 40% the issue. |

Oh well I might watch out for it. Wifi in Lagos isn't that bad. And many of the offices that I've frequented in Abuja have good wifi too. Personally I want to know how they will power this when they keep insisting on national electricity grid system that leads to so much wastage. |

Now after he freed Billal from the pagans who were his masters, he took good care of him and never treated him unfairly. Bilaal in fact fell in love with Islam till. he converted. In fact, he was selected as the first Mu'azin(caller of prayers) in Islam. The Prophet never discriminated him because he was black and neither did the Muslims. That's just point number 1 to refute your lies. What 'lies'? Those are quotes lifted directly from your special book. |

Islam › Re: How Islam Views The Negro by mmsen: 3:46pm On May 11, 2017*. Modified: 8:24pm On May 11, 2017 |
Trudax: I think the posters above me are missing this point. This thread isn't about how Allah views blacks or how Arabs perceive blacks or anything remotely related to slavery. What this illuminates is the lifestyle of most of sub-saharan African prior to slavery and colonization.
I am really tired of black Africans evading the truth about their intellectual inferiority in comparison to other races. These comments aren't from European imperialists who want to paint a false picture of Africa. These are comments from pious muslim scholars who would have no reason to alter the factuality of their observations.
The only way to deal with a problem is to first acknowledge it. We need to stop heaving the causes of our problems on colonization and slavery. The root of our problem is from within, not form without. Always playing the victim card won't take us anywhere.
"Merriment dominates the black man because of his defective brain." This quote sadly but accurately reaffirms the thesis of the thread I made about how excessively extroverted Nigerian culture is and what that says about our level of intellect on the average. These Arabs are no different from Europeans who wish to paint a false image of Africa. I don't understand why you cannot see that. What makes someone 'pious'? Islam is a tool of war and oppression. You have taken the words of a few desert dwellers but what about people who commented on the splendor of the Swahili coast? Or the organization of the Benin Empire? Or Great Zimbabwe? Or the wealth and learned men that were to be found in Timbuktu. Why would you ignore the positive to latch onto the negative and obviously one-sided narrative? As to your comment about Africans and merriment? As if they are the only ones who look to enjoy life? Europeans consume alcohol at unconscionable rates for that very purpose. Same with illicit substances. What Africans do by comparison is mild. There are problems but embracing life isn't even in the top ten when it comes to Nigeria's issues. That's a gross misdiagnosis on your part. |

1. The Ka'abah is black
2. The first person to call the adhan was black
3. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) once said: "A white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good actions. None of that negates what was said. Why would the Quran say what was said if your third point was truly valid? |

tensazangetsu20: I don't think there is anyone who hates Nigeria as much as I do but please you guys should cool down on some of the lies.
There are Nigerians doing great things, if you have kids and you want to push them to their limits there are schools in Nigeria to do that. We have loyola, rainbow college etc. This schools keep on sending Nigerians to ivy leagues schools every year.
We have Nigerians all around the world who are distingushing themselves in their various fields be it engineering, law or medicine.
If you didn't succeed in your life, you have yourself to blame. India is a shitty country but Indians are all over the world doing extraordinary things. We don't hate Nigeria. Why waste your time on something you hate? If you do then this is the wrong message board and wrong thread for you. What we dislike is the aversion to change within some quarters. The fact that this is the third such thread that I've seen on this forum around a similar topic suggests that a generation has opened its eyes. Hopefully this will inspire political change along with a real, long lasting societal shift. I agree with everything that Trudax said although I have to admit that at least amongst the people I know the foolish practices have subsided somewhat - the reckless breeding isn't as common; the obsession with 'discipline' over reason is subsiding in the home (the schools are still a problem); and the dogmatic attachment to 'morality' as laid down in religious texts is also slowly falling away. The bane of religion however remains strong, although I'm happy to see online that there are a lot of Nigerians who will speak out against it. |
