This is some serious information and news, so much i wrong with Nigeria and it's elite, government but we the people suffer while those who fight on our behalf, we join to criticize and castigate, donating such amounts isn't a bad idea but not at a time when your country, states, univerwsities, youths need it more, WHAT A WASTE, WHAT A SHAME, WHAT A COUNTRY.
At least the other thieves like Atiku, OBJ and Tinubu invest their money in Nigeria.

This fool thinks that he's smart taking money out of Nigeria to give to people in Florida.

Not just universities but the schools that feed the universities are staffed by semi-literates who go on to train more semi-literates.

At least people now attend games for just 200 rather than buy fuel for so much and watch Epl ojoro.
This has nothing to do with Buhari or the FG. So far Buhari has failed to have a positive impact on the nation.

Private individuals came together to solve a problem - private enterprise is Nigeria's best hope for success.

If Buhari's government was ever serious about diversifying the Nigerian economy this would be less of an issue, the Niger Delta militants would have far less bargaining power. It is because they know that he has no interest in doing that which he says he will do that they can do this, safe in the knowledge that they will eventually be bought off.

Politics › Re: Borno Light-years Ahead In Agricultural Innovation, Despite Boko Haram by mmsen:
If this had been done previously there would be no Boko Haram to speak of.

Also, the article speaks of a 'test stage'. We know how pet projects often die in Nigeria but if this is sustained by the people in the north east then everyone will benefit.

A third point - how are they generating power? I didn't see any solar panels. How are they keeping the produce from rotting without adequate refrigeration?

How about transport? How are they getting produce to the retailers and food processors? Until proper highways and railways are built across the country then much of this hard work will be in vain?

All of these questions are why I will keep arguing that the northern leadership (and most of the northern populace) have misplaced priorities. When they were agitating for Sharia law they should have been fighting for better infrastructure. It's only now that Boko Haram have exposed how foolish they are there is a need for tangible development and not slavish devotion to middle eastern dogma.

When did the US say "Nigeria should not have weapons" ?? grin
Wasn't the issue misappropriation of funds ??
Vetoed by the US because of American 'human rights concerns'.

According to a report initially published in a local Nigerian daily, ThisDay, Nigerian government officials believe a large sale was halted because of “unfounded allegations of human rights violations by our troops,” one such official is quoted saying.
“The kind of question that we have to ask is, let’s say we give certain kinds of equipment to the Nigerian military that is then used in a way that affects the human situation,” US ambassador to Nigeria James F. Entwistle told reporters in October, according to the Times.

They won't allow Nigeria to purchase weapons from Israel or South Africa but will donate vehicles?

Don't they know that vehicles can be used to run over civilians? Isn't that what they were worried about with the weapons that they said Nigeria shouldn't have?

Yes! I am not disputing the facts that there are solid minerals house by those terrains but the fact still remains that no oil reserves in those areas...
Oil is not the only means of acquiring wealth or development.

The rest of the world (and individuals in Lagos) are using solar and other renewable energy and some people remain fixated on oil in 2016?

Why is the north not pursuing solar farms as a way of powering industry? That would make more sense than obsessing over a dirty fossil fuel.

@mapet Nice observation about the minerals sharing.During some studies i noticed Lagos has multiple minerals about 3 in large quantities,I learnt also Zamfara discovered serious reserves of limestone on and on and on..My challenge is why should people keep kicking against Resource control.About Lagos sharing ports revenue,if the Federal Govt gave the same commitment to have multiple ports for coastal regions from Ogun state through to Cross river so we have multiple ports that can hosts big vessels then the country as a whole will benefit...and not the shady rubbish the country is running...
Because some states like to handicap others.

It's very difficult to develop when you are handicapped by Islamic thinking.

Imagine what northern Nigeria would be like if they didn't have oil rents to steal?

God will take control of the situation! It's pathetic how some men behave like fowls what could have attracted the fool that caused this to a 13 year old girl? He can't ruin this girls life and go unpunished, nemesis will catch up with him!
Why would god take control of this situation when he/she didn't stop someone from impregnating her to begin with? Surely that would make more sense?

1. To charge phone
2. To show off designers wears
3. To avoid query from mum
4. To find new boo
5. So neighbours won't see you as devil
6. To clear your conscience especially if you did that "thing" Saturday night

90% go to church for the above but the 10% (which I'm included) go to church because

1. most of us can't pray well at home because of distractions and we hardly read the Bible. Even when we do, we do it with carnal knowledge.

2. In these hard times, most of us feel relieved of stress after going to church and especially after singing praises. It help to keep our hopes high.

3. To receive blessings, communion and prophetic declarations from real powerful men of God

atheists don't quote me please
How do you pray well in church with all the loud praying, shouting and jumping around?

And how does going to church allow you to read the Bible any better when it's one man stood in front of an audience dictating how a verse should be interpreted?

And which prophetic declarations? TB Joshua's? Didn't his building kill members of his own church? How did he fail to predict such an event and save their lives?

Why is Nigeria so dependent on seasonal farming!
Most crops are seasonal.

The problem with Nigeria is poor yield and storage which is to do with electricity.

Solar power should be the norm in the north - yet some people are talking about drilling for oil in Lake Chad.
