Nigeria is a secular nation with secular laws.

If you wish to impose nonsensical middle eastern backwardness then leave the union of Nigeria, form your own nation and enjoy your religious laws on your own.

Was he caught messing with someone's wife? Daughter? Or was he doing the usual pastor nonsense - i.e. stealing funds?

You are very correct But we love ourselves together. We are slightly different because of languages, but we have many things in common. Very many things both northern and southern parts. That's why they did not divide us. I love cross river.
But you do you not have more in common with the people of AKS? Those in Uyo and its environs?

The languages are similar as are the foods and customs.

Every policy pursued by this government has been a failure.

Only now do they see their error when rational people saw the issue clearly months ago.

Buhari is fit for cow herding and nothing else.

Okay I am back.

First of all, from what you have wrote up there, you have a rudimentary understanding of how the world operates.
With that said, Germany has a military, it's just that they are constrained a bit, to homeland defense only, and this is due to the fallout from world war 2. Japan is in a similar corner.

Second, if America is so supreme, why is there a NATO?
And whether you like it or not, the West still have a strong economic grip on this world too, and are leaders in research and development, science and other fields.
China is copy and paste without innovation, and if you think otherwise, then you must be indeed ignorant.
Why do Chinese students still have to run abroad to study in droves?

Mess with one European country (Western) and see what will become of you and your own country.

You also mentioned something about receding population. As an economist, I'll tell you that yes indeed it is an issue, but it is not a big issue compared to overpopulation with many of them being economic deadweight.
As long as they continue to attract skilled workers from the world over, they would be fine.

And as for you calling me coward, I have no response to that, because you don't even know anything.

True all empires crack one day, But is it Africa that would crack this one? Or is it China huh
What do you want to challenge?

Anyways, I can see you are Anti West, which is not a problem, but thinking that they would be toppled soon is just wishful thinking.
America rules the roost - not 'Western nations'. NATO is powerless, what did they do in Libya? How have the dealt with Syria? It exists to give the impression of a democratic institution. The reality is that the Americans will ignore NATO at will, just as America and China ignore the WTO at will. They make the smaller, cowardly nations feel as though they have a say. The reality is that power is what makes right in this world not logic or reason. America spends more on its military than the whole of the EU so how can you say that they are in any way equal powers? The EU nations have no power, even as a trading bloc they are fragmented and they have no military to speak of.

Currently the Brits are upset with the Americans because some Brits wish to leave the EU and America is making threats that if they leave there will be less reason to deal with them. Those are not the words of a unified bloc. There is no Western consensus, just America and its wishes, the Europeans, the Canadians and Australians are simply to weak and cowardly to do anything about it.

The Chinese are building military strength to go with the economic might that they now enjoy. It is silly to preach cowardice as you are doing, irresponsible too. But you seem happy in your state of slavery so enjoy it.

And why would anyone be pro-Western? The Europeans have been the most destructive force that this world has ever seen. They plunged the world into two world wars, have destroyed the natural habitats of countless species of animals and are currently responsible for the mess in the Middle East, besides the Israel/Palestine disaster that they instituted.

This state is a very fortunate state,

They've hardly had disappointing Governors since 1999.
Imoke wasn't great - didn't appear to do much but he didn't ruin things either.

My criticism would be a bloated civil service - they need to scale back, otherwise Cross River (Calabar at least) is doing very well.

The question I have for those in Cross River and AKS - would it not make more sense to have southern Cross River and AKS as one state and then northern Cross River as another state? From what I've seen and heard northern Cross River is entirely different from the south.

Random pics of brochure interiors are not proof of wrong doing.

Why can't they refrain from lying?

This is just like when someone posted a picture of a random Lagos house and an interior from someone's website and said it was Dangote's house. Some people have too much time on their hands.

Oh, now you speak of nation building.

This is a quote from you:

The same man who speaks derogatively of Lagos (Yorubas) is now speaking of nation building and Lagos buying from Innoson. You better mind yours...
Fiscal federalism does not stop Nigerian state governments from using Nigerian currency to purchase Nigerian goods.

It makes more sense to do that than to use US dollars to buy Asian made trash.

That would be better for Nigerian industry and the nation than the brainless import dependency that continues.

P.S.
Lagos is not the only state in the South West and is probably the one with the lowest proportion of Yorubas. To claim that attacking public policy is to attack an ethno-linguistic group is retarded.
Politics › Re: Lagos State Introduces New Vehicles To Replace Danfo (pic) by mmsen:
logica:
...and what does that have to do with patronizing Innoson? Did Lagos tell you they have a policy to only buy "made in Nigeria"? Abi Lagos is indebted to Innoson or doesn't have a choice?
That is how you build a nation, infrastructure and commerce by patronizing those products within your own nation.

It is the limited thinking shown by people like you that has caused Nigeria to waste FOREX on imported trash.

These vehicles that Lagos state imported are low quality and yet probably more expensive than those made by Innoson.

Whether you like it or not, western countries still have a strong grip in this world, and will continue to do so for a long time.
If not, why does China have the highest number of lobbyists at capitol hill?
Germany is still waxing strong despite their population isues.

The best thing to do is to align interests. Going rogue always end badly. Ask those who tried it at their graves now.
Germany has a birth rate below replacement levels and is without a military of any note - they rely on the Americans for their military needs who keep bases all over their nation.

It is the Americans who are supreme, not Western nations. Western nations kow-tow to the Americans. When the Americans wanted to go to war in Iraq and the Europeans said that it was wrong did their words count for anything? No. Because no one cares what the Europeans say or think. Likewise with China. The EU routinely complains about Chinese trade practices but their words count for nothing.

So stop saying 'Western nations' have power when they do not. The Americans have a military that gives them power but the EU, Australia and Canada are all firmly in check. They are irrelevant.

To be clear every empire eventually falls and that can only happen if people fight and contest their hegemony. You are clearly a coward, a proud one at that and no society needs characters such as you.

CSTR6:
China is not proped up by the west? lol.
Go and get a bit of knowledge on china.
Western or american companies like hp,dell, apple, e.t.c looking for cheap labour in china are one of the major reasons why china is an economic power today. Most chinese technologies you see today were stolen from the west.
China though being a smart country bought american bonds and holds the United states to economic ransome. But then the US still holds all the aces and knows how to checkmate china when the time comes just like we are currently checkmating russia.
How can they be 'propped' up by the West when the Americans are faced with a gross trade imbalance as a result? American companies are attracted to China because the labor laws there are less stringent than in America and the cost of production is noticeably lower.

And if the Chinese are stealing American technology is that not a sign that the Americans have no control over them? The Chinese openly flout intellectual property regulations, to the chargin of the Americans. American firms consistently cry about the Chinese. One ironic example is that of Segway which was eventually bought up by the company that stole its IP and then outsold it globally.

The Americans have just placed a new tariff of %500 on Chinese steel. Why would they need to do that if China was just a proxy? How has America checkmated China? The Chinese, the Saudis and others own large chunks of the companies listed on the NYSE.

You are clearly clueless. There are other 'Western' nations (i.e. the EU) that have very little power. They can barely secure their own borders from outsiders. Most don't produce anything, which is why China and other Asian nations have amassed so much wealth and they are now laboring under a demographic time bomb of which they have no control over.

CSTR6:
The west is not your problem. Look at how the west developed japan and korea. Is it a crime if Nigeria becomes another korea?
Your leaders hide their uselessness under the toga of anti western rhetorics and people like you gobble it up.
I can assure you that in a million years, you would not be able to confront or challenge the west, so you better learn how to elect leaders that are smart enough to leverage western developmental technologies and policies for african development.
Japan and korea for example has handed over their national defences to the control of the united states in return for large american investments. The US gets allies and a sure foothold in south-east asia against communist china, while the japanese and koreans gets western aided economic development and western level prosperity in return, and i am sure their well-fed, prosperous citizens have not regretted it ever since.
Hating the west is madness. The most prosperous nations in the world are either western nations or proped up by the west.
China is not propped up by the West and is now the driving force in Asia and soon to be a genuine rival to America. It is already the second largest economy in the world.

To argue that the West is someone supreme is nonsensical in this era where they are suffering with population age problems and productivity issues. The Chinese, Indians and Arab nations have been buying up Western assets because they are no longer productive - partly because they no longer have colonies to exploit but also because technology is now more accessible to the rest of the world.

What you are advocating for is permanent second class status, out of fear and ignorance of the world, not based on reality or logic. The only Western nation that poses a bonafide threat is America because of their military moreso than anything else. The European nations can barely get the EU to run effectively to be a danger with nations like the UK looking to leave and others taking advantage of their economic prowess to exploit the weaker eastern and southern European states.

What you wrote is truly nonsensical when one looks at how China has consistently forced the Western nations to bow before them. How the Arab states have routinely flouted human rights abuses whilst kept their wealth and invested/bought up key European industries and real estate; and how men such as Mahathir Mohammed of Malaysia have spoken out against the Europeans and still managed to build his nation into a regional force. It's clear that your knowledge of geo-politics, economics and human nature is lacking.

That is why they are white elephant projects. Cut your coat according to your cloth is a common adage in Nigeria. Before Fashola and Amaechi embarked on those projects, did they check the cost and duration. They were both playing to the gallery. Whereas they were building theirs in the mass media, Cross River was constructing their monorail without fanfare. No noise making. The result: Cross River will be commioning theirs, while that of Amaechi and Fashola with all their noise and hot airs are confined to the dustbin of history. Not how big, my friend, but who complete theirs!
They are all good for the nation.

I don't know why you people have to start attacking each other.

The Calabar monorail makes sense for Tinapa.

Lagos is in desperate need of better real estate, both residential and business. It also needs improved mass transit - those danfos, okadas and old taxis should be removed from the roads.

The Port Harcourt project on the other hand seems poorly thought out. I'm not sure if it was politics that caused Wike to abandon the project but Amaechi has a record of wasting money. The quality of the projects (roads) that he did complete were of low quality especially when compared to that which was built in Uyo. And people seem to have forgotten about the expensive hospital that was never built but for which the funds seem to have gone to.
