Word: don't ever beg a man to marry you, or else you will beg him all the rest of your life. Marriage is not for everyone.
true. there was a lady who was crazy about me but i didnt feel same way. I was comfortable being around her and quickly friend-zoned myself (nothing romantic or lustful). Didnt know even that will still lead her on. At the end, i nearly married her out of feeling sorry for her situation (to feel for someone who doesn't feel same) but a variant of your quote up there told me the right decision was to stay away from her. I even allowed her hate me.

at the end, and even with my vows, the thought would still cross my mind that I never wanted her and that is an easy excuse for indiscipline and coldness. I do not want to struggle to love my wife.

Christianity EtcRe: "Husband Means Master" - Chris Oyakhilome by monex(m): 7:46pm On Sep 08, 2016
repogirl:
the slave master relationship is not one of love but obligation of the slave to the master where the master has no feelings toward the slave.

The Bible said men love your wives as Christ loves the church...not as master loves his slave
my master to slave message was to those who were trying to use that to explain so I wnated to say that in so far as the master slave relationship involves what I pointed out then it is fine. At the end it becomes a question of vocabulary.

Why i particularly quoted you was because you said the husband should earn the respect of the wife. I wanted to let you know that marriage is an institution where respect is not earned but given as an obligation.
Christianity EtcRe: "Husband Means Master" - Chris Oyakhilome by monex(m): 3:45pm On Sep 08, 2016
repogirl:
I pity people who swallow the words of their pastors hook line and sinker instead of reading the Bible for themselves in order to understand it.

So, my husband is the master while I am slave abi? Very funny.
I understand that the husband is the head of the household, just as how Christ is the head of the Church.

Now, Christ the Lord and saviour who is the head of the church and son of God Almighty brought him self so low that he washed his disciples feet. Now which master /Slave relationship works that way?

These men are deluding themselves, megalomaniacs looking for respect and worship by force. God has made men and women equal heirs to his kingdom, how much more here on earth.

Granted men and women play different roles in the family but saying a wife doesn't qualify as an adviser or what not is totally wrong. Both should work together, the man doing his part and the woman supporting him where ever he needs support, not just pleasing him like a freaking puppet or doll.

This Pastor sounds as if women are to become 'oh yes master' all the time even if she is dying within, even if the husband is a violent monster who keeps battering her because he enjoys it. Or if he is a drunk womaniser who doesn't take care of his family.

Respect is very well earned and not by force or not because one so called man of God tells you that you are the master. Even masters need good counsel from subordinates all the time, so what is one so called man of God who could not hold his marriage together talking about?
My understanding (and this is the largely orthodox christian interpretation) is that indeed it is a master-slave relationship where the slave is obligated to obey the Master while the master is obligated to love (seek/serve the slave's good before his).

so respect is not earned in marriage. the wife is obligated to respect and submit to her husband even if he is not worthy of her respect
love is not earned. The husband obligatorily seeks the wife's good even if she is malicious, wicked and undeserving of his love.

Loving someone means seeking the person's good. To seek someone's good, you need to understand the person and then know what is best for the person.

This means the money looted by PDP are in real sense not up to those medal figures
typically not up to 20% of loots will be recovered.

Meiji:
Actually from the Christian perspective, Muslims insult Christ by saying he is a mere "prophet" of God and denying his divinity.

That we don't scream and threaten violence as a result doesn't make it any less an insult.
exactly. I hear that regularly from mosques and Muslim articles. Christians consider Jesus to be con-substantial (of same substance) with God. Jesus is God. So calling Jesus a mere prophet is Heresy and an insult.

Also we should realise that Satanism is a religion, so the stoning of shaytan by Muslims and the Christian song (satan don fall for gutter, march am march am) would be deemed to be an insult to someone's religion.

At the end, It is important to not upset people - so even if i can say anything about your religion in your absence, i would not say bad about it to your face so as not to hurt your sensibilities.

Matrydom is a different ball game though: You say the truth and accept the consequences.

You shut up my friend. Only a sick fellow like the ugly lunatic up there will inscribed the name of a seating president on a dog hoping his action will spark some sort of crisis. He should thank his star that the issue is handled in a civilized manner. Why didn't he inscribed ojukwu's name or any of his leaders cognomen on the said dog if he wants to show how miserable his life is?

You don't go about looking for trouble and when that trouble finally finds you, you begin to play the victim card. Maybe if he'd call his name buhari without inscribing buhari's name on the dog, just maybe nobody will have any problem with him. But what that sick fellow did is an 'act of provocation', a breach of public peace and an evil intention to instigate violence. Like I said earlier, he should thank his very tiny star that the authority stepped in to calm every boiling nerve down.

Again he should thank his 'very very tiny star'.
someone inscribed Jonathan on a goat and paraded it too then.

Well it doesnt make either right. It is a breach of peace and defamation of someone's character

Announcing to the world that you are expecting a child is not a bad thing. There is nothing wrong if the world rejoices at the birth of your child.
abi o. the child is sacred so why do you announce the birth and do a ceremony on the naming. One can go on and on and i think she also needs to understand and appreciate diversity. i am not a fan of baby bump pictures but i cannot criticize it.

One last point though: she (Chimamanda) might actually be criticizing the act of just following the bandwagon to do baby bump. on that I would agree.

I edited my post, you may wanna review your response.

Cast your mind back to what it was just weeks before handover!! There was no fuel anywhere, no electricity, banks were closing by 12noon because there was no electricity. Telecoms companies were unable to sustain their activities due to issues bordering on availability of gasoline/diesel to power their generators, etc!!

All these happening when crude was still being sold @ $70pb!! Now, it is being sold at just over half that price and people expect to see miracles happen!! Brother, it isn't that simple.
5 weeks before that there was fuel, electricity was better, banks were closing on time, and telecoms copanies were able to sustain their activities.

don't use a 4 week period to justify your points. the latter part of your post (about the previous govt not saving enough, cos they saved a bit actually, despite the oil windfall) already did justified your position. the part I quoted sounds like politicking.

Some of u people miss the point that it's sometimes irritating and nauseating:people are disillusioned with PMB not that GEJ cudnt have been as clueless and drunk on the seat than he ever was,but because PMB had a golden opportunity to start from nothing with the greatest masses support ever had by a Nigerian president;but he has frittered it all on selectiveness, ethnicity, and sheer economic incompetence.
GEJ cud never have been an option in any decent society with the way he was running Nigeria aground, but the option that ought to have been celebrated now has become engrossed in the sheer surprise of him truly being in office that he has caused us another 2 years of pain, scorn and crass ineptitude.

well the issue is not about religion cos the government will do same for Christians and we should frown at it irrespective of religion.

However the subsidization for christians was done at a time when official rate was 187 - so we are looking at at 27 naira subsidy. The current subsidy is about 120 if we use the current official rate (Form A4 rates). The subsidy provides a big opportunity for rent seekers and bureau de change operators as you can be sure there will be peeps who will get the subsidy but will not even travel.

Also the timing: the recession now seems worse. The naira has fallen so badly (my salary is terms of value is halved). How can you ignore school fees and medical bills even coming on air to say Parents should forget about sending their kids to school abroad and the you subsidise a religious pilgrimage.

ignore the PDP apologists. It is politics and people will always un-duely castigate their opponents especially when they are yet to get over a defeat.
